City Advent Calendar: Day 17

Posted by ,

We are now in the final third of the LEGO City Advent Calendar but have still seen just three minifigures. The majority of previous calendars have included more than double that so I expect to find another minifigure behind today's door.

In fact, we have yet another miniature toy, for the fourth day running! A minifigure would have been welcome but this is an absolutely magnificent model of a Coast Guard helicopter given its small scale, featuring an authentic colour scheme of orange, white and blue as well as a rotating rotor blade on top. The black cockpit canopy looks great too, extending down to the floor of the helicopter in order to give the widest possible view of the area below.

The helicopter is also equipped with sponsons on either side of the fuselage, used for housing landing gear and serving as pontoons in the event of a landing on water. These simple features offer a great deal of potential for imaginative play and I am particularly impressed that the designer has found space for spinning rotor blades on such a small model.

Overall - 5.0 - This is a marvellous rendition of a Coast Guard helicopter and is my favourite of the seventeen City Advent Calendar gifts so far!

Another excellent looking set! Tbh I don’t mind the amount of small models as I feel they really add value to my city. Plus they are a lot better than multi-day structures of old. Looking at you police shack from 2011 and fire equipment racks 2012...

Much as I love this helicopter, I switched to City from my usual Star Wars calendar in part to get some builds that weren't just micro vehicles!

Very nice! By far one of the best gifts in this year's City advent calendar.

@legoverslinder My thought excactly. Without the rotor on the top it looks like a mini model of a fish.
Could be a Clownfish too.

Great review. A 5.0 for sure; I love helicopters and aircraft in general.

Very nice Coastguard Helicopter toy.
Matches with the earlier seaplane, maybe?
The best of today's models except maybe the SW commodore minifig.

I like this model a lot too and I like having more mini models to build because hey, it’s LEGO. I just like to build things :)
