City Advent Calendar: Day 20

Posted by ,

Yesterday's Christmas tree has put the LEGO City Advent Calendar back on a festive course as we enter the last few days. I am very much hoping that it will continue all the way through to the 24th of December...

This explorer minifigure is not particularly well suited to the season, although his accessory does relate to the gift from yesterday. Presumably the reason that tree had yet to be decorated was that it had not been cut down and taken inside, hence the inclusion of a circular saw today. I appreciate this accessory and the explorer looks superb, wearing a dark orange shirt, dark blue trousers and carrying plenty of equipment for every eventuality.

Such equipment was originally intended for exploring the jungle and ancient ruins but I think this figure could double as a tree surgeon so makes a decent addition to a festive scene. Alternatively, he might have just returned home from an Amazonian trek and has immediately been put to work bringing the family Christmas tree indoors!

Overall - 3.5 - I like these explorer minifigures and always enjoy creating stories surrounding characters who are dressed for a particular task. However, a more generic and festive figure would have been even better in my opinion.

If anything then that's a grinder used to cut stone or metal.
Using a grinder to fell a tree would be proper farmhand stylie :o)

They do make wood blades for cut-off type saws, however, cutoff/chop saws are typically used to cut concrete and metal. However, I do wish Lego would introduce a chainsaw using the same motor/handle design as the chop saw. The bar on a stick design is dated and unrealistic.

This confused me. Now I realise I've opened up the wrong door....

I actually like the inclusion of non festive minifigs. the ones that have been used are in line with the current themes that are out and will be a welcome addition to my minifigs in those areas.
