21314 TRON: Legacy alternative model from BrickBros UK
Posted by CapnRex101,
BrickBros UK, the fan designers of the recent 21314 TRON: Legacy, are widely known for their brilliant alternative models, all of which use the pieces from official sets in incredibly creative ways.
Naturally, Drew and Tom have recently turned their attention to building something from the parts in the latest LEGO Ideas set, creating the Light Racer! This vehicle takes inspiration from the Light Runner seen in TRON: Legacy and looks to me like a hot rod variant of the car.
You can take a closer look at their creation and find out how to build it in the video below...
Have you ever tried building your own alternative model using only the parts from a single set? Let us know in the comments.

I'm building fresh alternates every single week https://www.youtube.com/user/speteris
Take a look around and tell me what You think ! ;)
Yes, mostly using early 90s space sets (e.g. Blacktron 1 alienator https://flic.kr/p/R3Y493 , SP1 mission commander https://flic.kr/p/XYXiHp ) but slightly more often I try to combine two or three sets small of a theme and try to build something more substantial.
I built two alternatives using Creator set 7347 - Highway Pickup (2012):
- A pickup truck: http://www.moc-pages.com/moc.php/418291
- The 6-wheeled Tyrrell P34: http://www.moc-pages.com/moc.php/440552
I haven't found time to build recently but I plan to build more alternatives using the same set.
Beautiful, I miss the Back of the box Box art theme of alternative builds.
Their own model, based upon their own model? Modelception!
I really hope LEGO creates another Tron set, hopefully with Clu’s Lightcycle and the Light Runner.
I regularly remodel sets into enhanced or completely changed versions. Double-ups are always good to do. I took two of 70915 Two-Face Double Demolition and created "good" and "evil" twins (not so straightforward as the base build is asymmetric). I'm currently working on developing 2 x 76057 Spider-Man: Web Warriors Ultimate Bridge Battle into a full-span realistic bridge, possibly wide enough to take two-way City-sized vehicles. Future projects will look at expanding modulars to a 48x48 baseplate format.
These guys are great and I am always happy they tried to make builds sturdy and playable!
