Harry Potter collectable minifigures confirmed

Posted by ,

German toy store JB Spielwaren has confirmed that we will be seeing a Harry Potter series of collectable minifigures later this year.

It has listed 71022 Harry Potter collectable minifigures series 1 on its website, which it states are due to be released at the end of September at the normal retail price of 3.99€.

No other details are provided so I will leave it to you to speculate which characters will make an appearance in the comments.

Best day ever!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Can’t wait!! I’d love some generic students as well as the more famous characters!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Awesome! Though I'm still crossing my fingers for a Disney series 2. It's long overdue!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

meh...i'll get them but i'd rather something different

Gravatar
By in Norway,

Seeing as Umbridge is in a character pack, I expect these to be from the entire series, not just 1-3 like the sets that have been revealed. I hope they include Lockhart, Mad-Eye, Tonks, full on Werewolf Lupin and Sirius, at least.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Is it just me or is it that every time we get a new minifigures series the price goes up higher?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I can't wait for a series of dull licensed minifigures from one of the dullest franchises in the history of movie franchises. Seriously each episode following the boy wizard and his pals from Hogwarts Academy as they fight assorted villains has been indistinguishable from the others. Aside from the gloomy imagery, the series’ only consistency has been its lack of excitement and ineffective use of special effects, all to make magic unmagical, to make action seem inert.

Perhaps the die was cast when Rowling vetoed the idea of Spielberg directing the series; she made sure the series would never be mistaken for a work of art that meant anything to anybody, just ridiculously profitable cross-promotion for her books. The Harry Potter series might be anti-Christian (or not), but it’s certainly the anti-James Bond series in its refusal of wonder, beauty and excitement. No one wants to face that fact. Now, thankfully, they no longer have to.

'a-at least the books were good though'
"No!"
The writing is dreadful; the book was terrible. As I read, I noticed that every time a character went for a walk, the author wrote instead that the character "stretched his legs."

I began marking on the back of an envelope every time that phrase was repeated. I stopped only after I had marked the envelope several dozen times. I was incredulous. Rowling's mind is so governed by cliches and dead metaphors that she has no other style of writing. Later I read a lavish, loving review of Harry Potter by the same Stephen King. He wrote something to the effect of, "If these kids are reading Harry Potter at 11 or 12, then when they get older they will go on to read Stephen King." And he was quite right. He was not being ironic. When you read "Harry Potter" you are, in fact, trained to read Stephen King.

^Not a fan then?

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

@Golem25 - You like the HP sets too, don't you? :-)

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Now we just have to wait to see if the rumours of a very rare minifig are true! Apparently, one in four boxes will contain a single copy of one of the minifigs....

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

these will be popular of course for those who got to Lego a bit late for the intiial release of sets way back

Gravatar
By in Sweden,

Nooo. Plz some star wars or super heroes or Disney figs

Gravatar
By in Norway,

@Golem25 Wow. You really spend a lot of time and energy on hating. Perhaps shift your focus to things you like instead...? Your life will be better... :-)

Back to the minifigures: it will be exciting to see what characters are made into minifigs. But I really hope they do not pull an exclusive/rare figure stunt again - I find this a very annoying practise.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

@Jacopyright; oh my child, don't you know I prefer cooking Pasta?

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Can’t wait!!!

Gravatar
By in Germany,

perfect for the upcoming Hogwarts Castle :)

Gravatar
By in Austria,

I'm glad that the price didn't go up - I wouldn't buy even a single minifig for more. And though I don't care for HP at all, I will look for suitable parts for my castle/steampunk collection.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

It's of course just my personal opinion, but I wished they'd stop with all these themed minifigures they started with in 2014 (may it be Disney or Simpsons, Batman, Ninjago, Unikitty or Harry Potter) or at least alternate them with a regular minifig series every time. But this will come right after Unikitty. And I guess it won't be long until we get the figures for the second Lego movie. I know of course that this is for the kids and for merchandise reasons, but for me as someone who has a standard Lego collection, all these minifigure series are completely uninteresting. Well, at least I'll save some money this year. ^^

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

@Golem25
Seriously, you're bothering to complain about the quality of JKR's writing?
You don't read HP for the writing. lol.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Does that mean theres a chance we could get a star wars series?

Gravatar
By in United States,

@Golem25
That’s cool you like making pasta. Do you make your noodles from scratch? Do you prefer Pappardelle, shells, or Bucatini.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

The only thing I don't like about this is the price. But thankfully, all the recent CMF series went on sale after a while, so 50% off is in the cards sometime. At that price, I will certainly get a few of the figures (as well as some of the sets), because I was in my Dark Ages the last time HP was around in LEGO form.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

@golem25 - I get the pasta reference - copy pasta yes? thought the wording looked familiar.

I'll reserve judgement until we see a list of figs and some pictures - its always about the parts with CMF series and I'm wondering what we might get outside of wands, cloaks, books and brooms?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Not a fan of the books (I agree the writing is...not what I look for) beyond their role in getting people to read. Not bothered with the films.
But a minifig series with fleshies? Sure, I can go for that

Gravatar
By in Denmark,

CMF Lord of the Rings plz

Gravatar
By in United States,

I was really hoping for Marvel collectible minifigs, but this really shows that they could do anything now.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I would've hoped for a series of Doctor Who minifigs... whatever happened to that theme anyway?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Rowling may not be the greatest writer the world has ever seen, but the scope of her story, the sheer immensity of the task of planning seven novels that follow a plot through to the end demands respect! Mind boggling.
Whether you like it or not, Harry Potter is still popular, it has made billions and billions Worldwide. I predict these minifigures will prove extremely successful.
I'm expecting/hoping for Luna, Mr. Ollivander, Nearly Headless Nick, Mad-eye, Kingsley, Slughorn and a pupil from each house amongst others.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

It’ll be like the game where it’s just 30 different versions of harry in slightly different outfits XD

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I'm not a fan of HP, but this series might be good for Castle/fantasy parts. For example, I can see myself repurposing Hagrid's body and hair if this character is included in the CMFs.

Gravatar
By in Switzerland,

@Mr_Cross: Good list, especially re Moody, Kingsley and Luna :) However, Nearly headless Nick is already included in the Great Hall set and Slughorn is part of the recently leaked Bricktober set (along with Hooch, Umbridge and Boggart Snape)

Gravatar
By in United States,

NNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

HARRY POTTER?!? Not happy. Going to have to get them as I collect all of the cmf series, but not excited about them!

Gravatar
By in Australia,

I find Star Wars very repetitive as a theme and I'm surprised it lasted this long, I really never clicked with LOTR - the plot is just weak in my opinion. Superheroes never interested me as a kid.
I'm very happy for those that love all of these themes and that LEGO brings you such joy. How about not blasting your bile all over a comment section for a story that makes others happy a popular theme is returning.
Honestly, every time the next dozen Star Wars sets are revealed it would never occur to me to think "great! That means less Harry Potter sets now. How dare you LEGO!"

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

This looks like a good idea, at least from a consumer perspective. Now you don't have to spend a ridiculous amount of money on a set when you just want a certain character. And prices on secondary markets will go down probably too.

I just hope we'll see a CMF series of Star Wars characters and hopefully with more obscure or never seen before in minifig-form characters.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I've known for some time. There's an image circling the web of an opened Voldemort Minifigure on a CMF black tile. It includes a Nagini element.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@Jek, lots of people have. That image was even hanging around the message boards here. This is just confirmation. We all were just waiting for official word (even though this isn't really official) since the sets have been confirmed.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@Golem25 Jk Rowling is one of the best writers around and a fantastic storyteller. You're entitled to your opinions but there are some clear exaggerations as the characters don't go walking every hour.

Gravatar
By in United States,

YESSSSSSSSS THIS IS THE BEST THING EVER!!!!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I have never read any Harry Potter (and I don’t plan to), but I would love to see the large chunky figure that there has been in older and newer Harry Potter sets. (I don’t know his name)

Edit: The character’s name is Hagrid. He would be fun to find in a bag.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

I'm actually glad for all the money I'm about to save. The Unikitty series of minifigs looks like a dreadful exercise in frustration (when there's really no way of telling which character is in which bag), and now a Harry Potter series which I, personally, have no interest in. I always think that the collectable minifig series are better when Lego are left to their own devices, I found the Ninjago Movie series -- and both Batman movie series -- to be completely skippable. And I don't think I missed all that much.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Has 4 Euros been the standard price for awhile? I'm thinking that would make the US price around 4.50-5.00, which is rediculous. I've never been a HP fan and know nothing about the books or the movies but will always welcome, and buy, new minifigure parts. Heck, I wasn't into Ninjago and ended up spending a small fortune on that theme due to the fantastic sets and figs. HP looks to be the same with sets like Hogwarts Great Hall.

PS. Stephen King is a genius! Sure he can blab on a bit too long sometimes (but hey so do I. See, I'm doing it now! Sorry about that :(, but still pure genius!!

Gravatar
By in Spain,

I am not a fan of Harry Potter, not read the books neither seen the films, but I have some HP minifigures as I know some characters. However, I will buy the complete series as I am doing all the minifigure series collection.

In 2018, we got the Lego Batman Movie series, the 40th minifigure birthday (which cannot be regarded as usual series) and the Unikitty series and then, the HP series. It is becoming difficult to desing normal characters, Lego??

Gravatar
By in United States,

- Lupin
- Bellatrix
- Lucius Malfoy
- Professor Binns
- Peeves
- Professor Grubbyplank
- Duddly Dursley
- Moaning Myrtle
- Sirius Black
- Mad-Eye Moody
- Kingsley Shaklebolt
- Tonks
- Luna Lovegood
- Voldemort

Gravatar
By in United States,

Alright LEGO. NOW WHERE’S THE STAR WARS AND LOTR AND MARVEL?

Gravatar
By in United States,

so stoked! the previous HP sets came during my dark age, so i'm going to be all over this round of CMFs.

Gravatar
By in United States,

We need a LOTR and Star Wars series!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'm hoping we get some students for each House (so we can get the outfits cheap) and all the House Ghosts (save Nick of course, he's already in the Great Hall.) Beyond that they can just fill in the gaps with characters missing from the story, but unlike some people above I'd prefer if they keep it to the first 3 films. Make another CMF in the future for the later ones.

I know a lot of people don't like theme specific CMFs but ever since around series 12 of the OG CMs I've prefered them. I think the best thing to do would have two lines of CMF running at once, a licensed and an original, 'cause it looks like Unikitty will be running the same time as HP anyway. I hope we get a DC or Marvel line soon.

Gravatar
By in Poland,

I only worry I will have to get them by some magical means (going to germany) as there are no hints of HP Lego in Poland. Maybe I look in wrong places but still, if not this and similar sites, I would not know HP is back in Lego form.

And HP is my guilty pleasure. It is not perfect but it gives me joy X"D

Gravatar
By in United States,

I would guess we'd get a Moaning Myrtle and (possibly) a Peeves.

Gravatar
By in United States,

A Cho Chang would also be GREAT to finally get a Ravenclaw outfit.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Not into HP but I can see that some would like this. However, I feel like there are other themes that would be much better for a CMF. For example Star Wars, Marvel, and DC each have about a billion characters yet to be made (plus they would probably all sell much better than HP).

I could go for some LotR CMF though. That would be awesome!

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Never mind these where is a picture of the UCS Hogwarts castle

Gravatar
By in United States,

Whew! And I thought Tolkien was long winded.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Hoping for:
- Professor Lockhart
- Mad Eye Moody
- Sirius Black
- Professor Trelawney
- A different outfit Dumbledore
- Bellatrix Lestrange
- Luna with the lion hat
- Fred and George
Probably will have Harry, Ron and Hermione but don't know what version they will be.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@Golem25- I see your point. I am attempting to become a sci-fi writer, and JKR influenced me hugely. Looking back is she an amazing writer up with the likes of Stephen King and JRR Tolkien? No. Is she good at storytelling and came up with a solid plot? Yes. HP was my first true adventure into reading and is what got me started into writing, and now at a time where I'm getting a work published within the next year I wish I could thank JKR. I don't mean to attack you, but don't rain on everyone's parade. I also don't recall many leisurely walks in the series...

This will be great for the Hogwarts Castle I've been tasked with building for the local intermediate school's Lego club. I am beginning to help there as a TFOL and to show kids to stand up to bullying and being a geek isn't a bad thing (I live in a football town).

Personally, I'm hoping for them to pull some more obscure or less used characters out of the rather extensive list, like Peeves or Cho Chang.

How're they doing the ToysRUs minifig pack that got leaked. I see a problem since ToysRUS is freaking BANKRUPT!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Promising. And lots of 'characters' from the various Lego themed sets can still be incorporated into my Lego city. Less usable bits can probably be modified with a little thought. Worst case scenario, I have a lot of new trick-or-treaters for my Halloween displays.

Gravatar
By in United States,

LoTR, Star Wars, etc. will never be CMFs. LoTR is not a LEGO theme anymore, and Star Wars collectibles are all manufactured by Hasbro. These are fine. @Golem25 most of those sentiments are just paraphrasing a review of Order of the Phoenix. Rowling is not a master of prose, but the story is captivating. And how else would YOU suggest doing the magic in the films besides SFX?

Gravatar
By in Germany,

...and now for something completely different: why not some CMF-series from Samurai Champloo, Dragonball or Naruto? Or starship enterprise and maybe even some "exotic" themes like Pauli the little mole from Zdenek Miler? I really want some fresh wind in the topic of CMF!!! Calling out for SW or Marvel-CMF is reasonable from the collectors view, but will never happen in my opinion. Too good to be true!

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Yessssssss! Thank you Lego! LOTR next, please? :)

Gravatar
By in United States,

Late September? I thought the next CMF series was slated for Aug 1? Can anyone add any insights?

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'll be interested to see what the Harry Potter figs look like. I don't always collect the full themed series of collectible minifigures, but I do like Harry Potter...

For all the people going "Wah why don't they release a wave of DC characters" I'll remind you that we've already gotten TWO series of Batman Movie figs, which are essentially DC packs, so stop asking for more, the second series was bad enough anyway.

Gravatar
By in Sweden,

@Golem25 please don’t bring pointless hate to an amazing site like Brickset. The numbers are against you. Please tell me why there are 500 million Harry Potter books sold worldwide if they are so bad, the movies are surely not “indistinguishable” from each other. This makes me wonder if you have even seen the movies?

The writing isn’t the best but it’s not why you would read Harry Potter. The story is great. How JK killed of characters was amazing.

“she made sure the series would never be mistaken for a work of art that meant anything to anybody, just ridiculously profitable cross-promotion for her books”. If Harry Potter is a work of art depends on who you ask but the movies surely means something for people?! Please make change that what you say is true and keep hate away from Brickset.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

While HP is nice and dandy, LEGO once had (or still has?) the rights for LotR/The Hobbit, and since the last sets are already like what... 6 years old, they should bring back some Tolkien related stuff.

Especially since there is TV series about Aragorn coming... (at least I hope those are not just rumors).

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Anyone thinks this is a door opener for Marvel or SW CMF, imagine discussing this with Hasbro and Disney lawyers. And then think again.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

"series 1" There are already plans for a series 2 ?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Looking forward to these minigfigs!

(And @Golum25 just did a complete search of all the books and the only *single* mention of a character going to 'stretch their legs' is on page 4 of the first book!!)

Gravatar
By in United States,

@IsaacTheAnimator I think that is just a release date for the sets . . . I didn't see any mention of the CMF series. Would be nice if it is July 1 though!

Gravatar
By in Iran,

I'm interested to see them but not being a fan of the series I'll be skipping them, luckily this gives me a chance to catch up with the last two series.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I can't wait to get these minifigures!

I have seen the picture of Voldemort in dark green robes with his wand (13½", Yew, phoenix feather core) and Nagini, which is so long it looks like it would be hard to fit in the CMF bag. I haven’t seen any other HP CMFs though.

Lego should still have the LOTR license, because of Lego Dimensions and yes the new show from Amazon is happening about a young Aragorn.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Hoping for an updated Teenage versions of Harry, Ron, and Hermoine with regular legs. Because most of the set have short legs.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I have seen any of the movies or read any of the books, but the LEGO sets and the figs have always been really cool. I can’t wait to see pictures of these!!

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Every packet will contain the same Harry Potter minifigure to prevent people identifying them by feel, but with a tiny flask of Polyjuice that only works after the packet is opened.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@AddictedToStyrene- hehehe that’s a good one!

So are the sets coming out on July 1st now? I’m so confused!

Also, just out of curiosity, does anyone know if they’re still doing the ToysRUs minifig packs are gonna work?

Gravatar
By in Slovakia,

Great news! Cannot wait to see the minifigs! :)

Gravatar
By in United States,

Guys, obvious troll is obvious.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I will be getting these and the majority of the figures from the new sets but I am quite confused as to why lego are bringing Harry Potter back.
Unless there's a secret film about to be released it's just going to feel like a licensed theme which isn't associated to anything.
Not sure if I'm making any sense.
Are they hoping children will be interested in them without really knowing what or where they have come from with Harry Potter being really quite old now.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

@JonMarten: quite right, perhaps it's even one of the trolls from HP itself ;-)

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Figs so far i've found will be:
Rolanda Hooch
Horace Slughorn
Dolores Umbridge
Boggart (Severus Snape in the clothes of Nevill's grandmother)

Gravatar
By in United States,

@Captain Mutant I don’t know if it was exactly a theme-one IDEAS set and a couple Dimensions packs was all we got. Given the popularity of the franchise it’s a bit baffling.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Really? Ugh I’m a Potter fan and I actually find this disappointing

Gravatar
By in United States,

It will be interesting to see what characters popup, but one rumor out there is something like two of the figures will only be found in 1 out of every 4 boxes.. I REALLY hope that is a rumor.

Gravatar
By in United States,

It's very tiring every time a licensed item comes out for half of the comments to be complaining about the license. :/

I'll wait and see the character selection to get too excited. There are plenty of worthy characters to include, especially those like Luna (finally in uniform?) and Bellatrix who have become hard to find, but it's also really easy to waste a slot slapping together random hair and face with a uniform and plucking a miscellaneous name. Let's hope we get a nice selection.
