New trailer released for The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part!
Posted by TheBrickPal,
The second trailer for The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part was announced yesterday across social media, and it is now live on Warner Bros. Pictures’ YouTube channel today!
The footage offers great looks at new characters like Rex Dangervest, a spoof of Chris Pratt’s characters from multiple films, and Queen Watevra Wa’Nabi, a shape-shifting alien voiced by Tiffany Haddish! Also, keep your eyes peeled for a little blue dog with a horn, familiar to those who have been watching Cartoon Network this past year...
You can watch the new trailer after the break. The film hits theaters February 8, 2019.
What do you think? Are you excited? Let us know in the comments below.
The much-anticipated sequel to the critically acclaimed, global box office phenomenon that started it all, “The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part,” reunites the heroes of Bricksburg in an all new action-packed adventure to save their beloved city. It’s been five years since everything was awesome and the citizens are facing a huge new threat: LEGO DUPLO invaders from outer space, wrecking everything faster than they can rebuild.
The battle to defeat them and restore harmony to the LEGO universe will take Emmet, Lucy, Batman and their friends to faraway, unexplored worlds, including a strange galaxy where everything is a musical. It will test their courage, creativity and Master Building skills, and reveal just how special they really are.

I think he’s near the giant model of Unikitty towards the end.
@That_Guy8 You can see him at around 2:01, as the shot pans down from the waterfall slide.
Looks great! I wonder if this means we will get to see pics of the sets and CMF's for the movie soon?
I think I rather have the first idea of the movie about the Duplos attacking.
^ That’s still part of it. Did you see the first trailer?
Ok, NOW I'm hyped.
Since the primary form we've seen Watevra Wa'nabi in is a horse, I wonder if she might have some secret family connection to Unikitty and Puppycorn. I also wonder whether the horse form will be the only form we see for her in sets.
The Duplo monster Batman fights is really cute. It's often really neat to see what kinds of wild and crazy Duplo builds people have managed to come up with outside of sets, since by using stuff like construction vehicle elements together with printed facial features and wacky colors there's a definite possibility for some much wackier and more elaborate creations than the kind you see in sets. There's rumored to be one actual Duplo set tied to The LEGO Movie 2, so my curiosity is growing for what that might turn out to be.
It's great to see the Unicastle and Puppycorn confirmed for at least a cameo appearance!
The "your worst nightmare" joke is hilarious and I'm amazed that I haven't heard that joke in more shows and cartoons considering what a cliche "I'm your worst nightmare" is and the really versatile potential it has for different goofy punchlines.
Overall not as many huge surprises or obvious new set teasers here as I was perhaps hoping for, but it was certainly a very good trailer that gives me great confidence in the caliber of writing and humor we can expect this time around!
This looks like it should be pretty cool!
Rex Dangervest is easily gonna be the highlight of this movie. He’s a mix of Han Solo, Indiana Jones, Owen Grady, and The Lone Ranger. IM IN. This is easily one of my top must see movies for 2019.
Also... DID THEY TURN THE BATCAVE INTO AN APOCOLYPSE BUNKER ?????? really hoping for an Mad Max style Batmobile!
@TheBrickPal: Additionally, I don't think there was ever any reason to think that the second movie would be ALL about that or that focusing on that would even make for a good movie. Same as how The Incredibles 2 wasn't all about the Underminer. In both cases, the "A new enemy approaches!" ending was more about what it added to each of those movies than about its sequel potential.
For The Incredibles, the Underminer's appearance and the Parr family suiting up to stop him helped create a "happy ending" beyond just defeating the bad guy by conveying that the family was going to keep fighting crime together and that it would create a lasting change in their family dynamic. If anything, the Incredibles 2 subverted this implied "happy ending" and new, shared sense of purpose by having that fight go horribly wrong, forcing them back into a life of struggling with the illusion of normalcy before the movie's actual main conflict kicks off.
With The LEGO Movie, the Duplo invasion was practically a gag ending that provided one last laugh after an otherwise calm, poignant, and heartfelt resolution to the main conflict. It also implied that this new shake-up to the status quo was going to have bigger and longer lasting repercussions than just a peaceful return to the free society that Wyldstyle had described before Lord Business's reign.
Perhaps more importantly, when the filmmakers announced that they were working on a sequel that would come out a few years after The LEGO Movie, that alone should have told us that the Duplo invasion wouldn't be the sole subject, because when one of a movie's major characters is a live-action child actor, then three to five years later there's no way they're still going to look close enough to the same age to convince audiences that no meaningful time has passed between the original and the sequel.
That's not a bad thing, though! After all, in a story where the state of the entire universe is defined by childhood creativity and family dynamics, way more new storytelling opportunities open up by presenting the family at different stages in their life than by keeping the "storytellers'" ages and family dynamics the same or similar.
Even before we had any details about the sequel besides that there would be one a few years after the first, one of the most exciting possibilities to me was the prospect of seeing how Finn's relationship to the LEGO world his imagination shaped would change as he got older and possibly moved closer to the "dark ages" that are such a big part of many AFOLs' life stories.
It seems like even beyond that, we're also going to see how Finn's sister's imaginative play evolved from the infancy that brought about the Duplo invasion (driven by impulsivity and perhaps difficulty understanding of the kind of more elaborate world and stories Finn was interested in crafting) to discovering her own interests that might conflict with Finn's changing interests in more complicated ways.
I'm really thrilled about the possibilities, much more so than I would have been with a story representing how an eight and a half year old deals with the chaos of a messy, destructive, or annoying toddler.
Sooooo, we just not gonna talk about the Giraffe Suit guy dancing with Superman then?
Set reveals on Lego's Facebook page...
Personally as a fan of past LEGO minidoll themes, knowing minidolls are also bleneded in this film, I know they would have to focus on the original characters like Mayhem and Susan, but still think TLC and WB should still give Elves and especially Friends a cameo or a set to confirm their existence. They pretty much owe Friends a treat since the original TLM1.
It kinda feels like the trailer doesn't reveal that much hints on more master builders from different LEGO themes in this movie. Not just Friends, but also count Overwatch, Minecraft and Scooby-Doo.
New sets were just revealed, working to get them in the database now! https://www.syfy.com/syfywire/new-sets-for-the-lego-movie-2-the-second-part-tease-new-characters-vehicles-and-hilarity
Me likey.. And ive just seen 4 more sets for this movie on zusammengebaut.com everyone,
Theres two that i love the other minidoll looks like princess peach from supermario gotta get it..
Cant wait for the sets.
I like that unlike Ninjago Lego is sticking to their source material. I would have loved a more familiar movie based of the TV serie then again, Ninjago City set is awesome.
Gonzo Lego at its best, just fantastic. What a wild array of sets - and the film looks equally bizarre. Can't wait!
Wow, love the Benny set, with a pink suit! Glad they’re continuing to pay homage to classic Space. All the new sets look awesome!
Am I the only one who thinks Rex Dangervest is just THE BEST?
Those sets look crazy. I love them.
Can’t wait for the movie!
Is it just me or are some of the Lego movie sets a bit weak?
All I want is the truck shown at 0:05. It looks so cool.
Kept getting distracted by the subtitles - they were ...mostly accurate
Mark Mothersbaugh! Did I miss the announcement? His score for Thor: Ragnarök was great.
@Ephseb: He scored the original Lego Movie as well. I was a big fan of the original movie's score, which I felt complemented the pseudo stop-motion animation nicely. So I'm glad he's back for this one.
@Lyichir - wow, I didn't know that. I have to re-watch the first one.
A character voiced by Chris Pratt is a raptor trainer, galaxy-saving archaeologist cowboy? Nice.
Love the trailer and sooooo....if Chris Pratt is Emmett plus Rex's Raptor Trainer (Jurassic World), Galaxy saving (Star-Lord), Cowboy (Cowboy Ninja Viking) AND an archeologist??? Could it be he's gonna' play Indiana Jones sometime down the road?
@Ephseb @Lyichir: He also scored The LEGO Ninjago Movie.
@Zordboy: I've seen a lot of people jokingly point out that besides Rex being a general foil to Emmet's innocent, big-hearted haplessness, Emmet and Rex also kind of reflect Chris Pratt's most well known pre-LEGO Movie role (lovable goofball Andy Dwyer of Parks & Rec) and most well-known post-LEGO Movie roles (e.g. manly action heroes Starlord of Guardians of the Galaxy and Owen Grady of Jurassic World).
Can’t wait. Lego don’t fail us such as with the ninjago movie...
Definitely wondering where Lord Business is during all this
The Lego movie franchise continues to be the best example against arguments as to why it would be at all necessary to deform minifig limbs and torsos as if they were rubber, like what is usually done in Lego media. I don't know why anyone continues to do that.
Oh... and they BETTER make that blue crane truck shown at the start into a set, or I shall be sad.
"Who's a good boy? Who's a good boy?" Yeah, watching those two bounce off each other is going to be fun.
