City Advent Calendar: Day 10

Posted by ,

The 2018 LEGO City Advent Calendar has grown in quality during the last few days, offering two wonderful models which contain a selection of useful pieces.

I hope that trend of improvement will continue on day ten.

An ice hockey goal appeared in 60133 City Advent Calendar from 2016 but these appear to be football goals given the inclusion of a flame yellowish orange ball. I like the colourful goal posts which separate the teams and the net texture looks excellent, although I think these goals could be improved if the 1x4 fences piece towards the back were reversed.

That design would more faithfully resemble the shape of a real goal net but might prevent the ball from entering the goal properly. On that basis, the current goals are reasonably effective on the whole and I think they offer considerable play value.

Overall - 3.5 - These goals are very simple but look superb, due in particular to the red and blue goal posts which appear striking.

By in Sweden,

These goals were some of the most unclear builds in the set honestly, also, soccer and green, not fitting for an advent calendar, but my score would probably be a solid three

By in France,

A bit weak and simple compared to the two previous days, but still a pleasant gift, which fits well on the display board of the calendar. A 3,5 for me (too).

By in Australia,

Yeah a bit average. At least there’s dedicated space for it on the placemat.

They don't look so good, honestly...

Futsal goals!

By in Sweden,

As this is a winter-themed advent calendar it really should've been a pair of hockey goals (same design, just white ground) with a puck and two sticks.

Random set of the day being a Soccer field is just fun cooincidence.

By in United Kingdom,

Football/soccer is a sport played in winter so the goals are accurate for the season.

It appears the bases are 2 2x2 green plates for ea. goal, rather than a single 1x4 for ea.? Way to pad the parts count LEGO! Honestly though these aren't bad, but will be better served as a tiny parts pack.

By in Australia,

I just wish they had included a proper ball rather than a technic ball with axle hole.

After today I gotta say, I'm eyeing the Friends calendar with increasing jealousy. These look quite ugly to me and barely functional given the lack of an actual ball... Especially when there's an actual soccer ball piece.

By in Germany,

So we got a ball that can't roll at all, and goals that even a proper ball couldn't roll into. Well, I'm so glad for that! :D

BRING BACK LEGO SPORTS THEME AND LEGO SOCCER!!! oh my days I wish I was 6-8 years old during the time this range was available (instead of just beginning with Duplo).

LegoSolo77 a 1x4 won't make any sense. A 2x4 though... :)
