Star Wars Advent Calendar: Day 10

Posted by ,

A tiny rendition of General Grievous' Starfighter emerged yesterday so presumably another item that takes inspiration from Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith or The Clone Wars will arrive on day ten.

Find out after the break...

This mounted blaster cannon is designed at minifigure scale and features a stud shooter which has been integrated fairly well. You can alter the pitch of the barrel and the gun emplacement feels sturdy, standing on a 2x3 plate. There is a handgrip for the minifigure to control the blaster cannon too, the angle of which is adjustable.

Numerous different blaster cannons have appeared within the Star Wars universe but this rendition is not sufficiently distinctive for identification. If the Clone Wars theme is continuing today then it may represent the weapon seen in The Hidden Enemy or Landing at Point Rain, although this model could form part of any era.

Overall - 2.5 - Stud shooters are not particularly exciting on the whole but this example has been nicely designed.

My thought upon building this today was "Ok then." Its not bad, but I'm a bit disappointed that there isn't much of an influence from any actual cannon. Maybe they could have designed one that looked like one of the cannons from the Death Star trench?

Nice for the kids, little bit of play value.

Ehh... It's boring, sure, but the integration of the stud shooter is real smooth.

I think the model looks nice. I wish yesterday’s build was a figure obviously intended to shoot this blaster. None of them so far would really use this. So I have a gun with no one to shoot it.

Only one stud keeps the handle attached to the canon, it comes off way too easily, meh build no other brick builds from this calendar will look good next to the greatness of the micro cloud city

One thing that I find weird is that red 1x1s are included as ammo.
Advent Calendars usually have winter playfulness in them, so the cannons and shooters come with white 1X1s to simulate snowballs. These red 1X1s tell me that the playfulness is OVER.

I had two bags in mine. Factory errors can sometimes benefit the buyer!

I think it looks like Rudolph.
