City Advent Calendar: Day 22

Posted by ,

Yesterday's candy cane clock might be the first in a series of models based directly upon Christmas during the final three days of the 2018 LEGO City Advent Calendar. I certainly hope so!

Find out what lies behind door number 22 after the break...

Christmas is frequently associated with traditional toys and this clockwork robot is certainly among them. Its contrasting colour scheme of light bluish grey and red looks rather attractive and I like the printed 1x1 tile on the robot's chest. A pearl silver key is fitted to its back and this component was originally created for the Clockwork Robot from Series Six of the Collectable Minifigures.

Another small structure, consisting of five alternating dark bluish grey and trans-light blue 1x1 plates, is included as well. It most closely resembles a small tower block in my opinion, perhaps suggesting that this is intended to be a destructive robot. Alternatively, it may be a battery but that would make little sense for a clockwork toy! I invite any suggestions in the comments.

Overall - 4.0 - I am pleased with this clockwork robot, especially given its colourful hands and reasonable articulation.

By in Australia,

I definitely think that little block is meant to be a skyscraper, and the main model is a giant robot rampaging through the city. It's a bit of an odd inclusion, though, since the main clockwork robot toy stands fine by himself, but maybe Lego is doing a bit of cross-promotion for Voltron?

this litle guy was really cute, i also like the fact that we get a spare of the printed tile and key from his back.

The robot is nice, but the inclusion of the unclear tower makes today’s offering a bit confusing. I wonder if the trans-blue 1x1 plates wouldn’t serve the build better as eyes on the side studs of the 1x1 brick.

One of the best builds so far I think this is, although it looks slightly odd, I still love it

I thought the head looked a little bare compared with the rest of the body. I stuck a light on top from one of the spare bits from the advent calendar and now think the robot could probably be bulked out with some of the other spare parts.

I wonder if it's supposed to represent the larger sized minifigure clocks that Lego do and that's why the hands/arms are a different colour?

Have we had any ‘5’ scores yet.
I know it’s subjective, but I feel like some of these scores are too low.
It’s a cute little robot.

By in Poland,

Came here to find out what the block was. I see you're all as confused as I am.

By in Germany,

I know what it is for sure.......it's 3x 1x1 grey plates and 2x 1x1 trans light blue plates assembled alternatively. I wouldn't like to say more other than...

HAPPY CHRIMBO EVERYBODY

Now THAT is a lost in space robot. Danger. This weird blue and gray stack of bricks does not compute!

By in Netherlands,

Not a bad robot build at that scale, considering they didn't use the specialized Squirebot pieces from Nexo Knights.

I think it could have used some levers on the side of it's head, and it's feet look a but blocky, but it's not too bad a model.

I think it's cute, but my main complaint is the lack of a robot face. I was thinking the mystery blocks was some kind of pretend battery/energy cell for the robot toy.

Waaa! My advent calendar was missing the ‘body’ piece and I had two ‘head’ pieces so I couldn’t build it. Fortunately I raided some spares and found one. First time in 5 years that I have been missing a piece.

^ uhhhh...the head and body use the same type of piece.

^ No they're not. The body piece would have studs on all four sides (two for the arms, one for the printe tile, and one on the back for the clock-work key), while the head piece has studs only on two sides.
