City Advent Calendar: Day 24

Posted by ,

The same seasonal character has appeared on the last day of almost every LEGO City Advent Calendar since 2005, as one might anticipate! Presumably that tradition will continue in 2018.

Find out after the break...

Many different versions of Santa Claus have been produced and the minifigure from 60155 City Advent Calendar last year was undoubtedly my favourite yet. This design is almost identical to its predecessor, differing only in the face which lacks spectacles on this occasion and instead features bushy eyebrows along with a smiling expression underneath the beard. I prefer the version with metallic gold spectacles but both designs capture Santa's traditional personality.

However, the torso looks perfect. It includes a white fur lining and a striped candy cane is hidden on the minifigure's back! In addition, this design gives some impression of Santa Claus' rotund figure which is a charming detail. He comes with a delightful red hat and a medium nougat sack, presumably containing a selection of Christmas presents.

Overall - 4.5 - The previous Santa Claus minifigure remains my favourite but this is an excellent addition to the Advent Calendar.

I hope you have enjoyed reading our Advent Countdown articles for 60201 City Advent Calendar this year! The calendar has been primarily focused upon miniature toys, including several which are based upon real LEGO sets released during 2018. I particularly appreciated the small quadcopter drone from day eight, the passenger train from day eleven and the cart from day sixteen. The packaging has been designed for displaying the toys and they look good when assembled, although a larger outdoor area might have been useful.

My favourite gifts from this calendar are probably day 3, day 11, day 17 and day 22 simply because of creativity and playability, this calendar isn't as good as many other calendars in teh past, but it's definitely on the great tier!

By in Australia,

I quite liked the robot, and the lantern (despite the odd use of white pieces) was pretty gorgeous too.

I did enjoy the self-promotion, with Lego making Lego toys of other Lego toys and now I've gone cross-eyed.

I was gonna say that I thought all Santas were the same, but no, there's minor differences in the printing on their torsos and such. Hmm.

By in United Kingdom,

I was very impressed with this years LEGO City Advent Calendar. My favourite builds include the helicopter we got yesterday, the husky we got on day 4 and the drone build plus the space shuttle build.

By in Canada,

Thank you for taking the time to do a daily article on the advent calendar. It was fun to look forward to each day:) Altho I had a 2017 version to open this year, I really enjoyed comparing and contrasting it to the 2018 version. Enjoy your Christmas holiday!

By in Australia,

This is the first year I bought the City Advent Calendar. Mainly for the 6 year old. I have bought the Star Wars one regularly, but got all three this year as they were discounted. It was interesting to contrast the building experience between all three.

The robot was my favourite build, and I’m well pleased to have the chef’s jumper.

By in France,

The sled was the weakest this year IMO. I really enjoyed the drone, the delightful robot, minifigs and the husky. Thank you for reviewing them all during these first 24 December days, leading us all up to Christmas celebration this evening and tomorrow. Vader's Castle is awaiting us, my daughter and me, under Christmas tree for tomorrow morning. Hope you all will enjoy the following days, nice Lego sets and buildings, and wish Brickset members and team a merry Christmas.

I liked the robot and the lamp post best.

I thought there was a severe lack of minifigures. But I liked the twin racers and weird looking ice cream dispenser that couldn’t fit ice cream in it.

In all I thought this year's calendar was quite nice. The street light, candy cane clock, and husky were all great, as were all of the Minifigure sized toys. Now my future toy store MOC will have no lack of products for the shelves! Thank you for doing these articles for us Captain, they gave me something to look forward to. Please keep the awesome work coming!

Wow! The area that you display the models looks awesome, much better than last years City advent calendar with all the toys crouded inside. Really wish I could have gotten two calendars because of this one but the Star Wars one was cool.

A real shame it doesn't have the same excellent head as the one last year. No cookie for Santa either.

What I'd really like to see though is some dual-moulded legs to give him some black boots, perhaps with some white furry lining printing above it.

By in United States,

This was my first Advent Calendar and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I'm glad that the torso print for Santa is different from the only other Santa I have (that I built at the Lego Store minifig station). One change I would like to see is dual molded legs so Santa can have black boots.
