Harry Potter Advent Calendar - Day 15

Posted by ,

Some brilliant minifigures have appeared within the Harry Potter Advent Calendar but I expect to discover our latest miniature model behind door number fifteen.

Snowman appear in almost every LEGO Advent Calendar and this creation feels absolutely consistent with the Wizarding World, sporting an attractive hat. Otherwise, its design is relatively familiar, featuring an orange scarf and reddish brown twigs which represent arms. This scarf accessory is quite appealing and appears in relatively few sets, although an alternative colour would have been ideal.

The rectilinear body seems slightly awkward, although that corresponds loosely with minifigures which include similarly angular bodies! Moreover, I like the broad base for this snowman but hope the printed snowman head from 75213 Star Wars Advent Calendar might return at some point in the future.

Overall - 4.0 - I am pleased with this snowman and appreciate its subtle connection with the Wizarding World, although an exclusive scarf colour would have been perfect.

I agree, needed a more HP themed colour for that LEGO Ninjago Movie Scarf Element.

I'm quite pleased with this cute magical snowman. I didn't own the scarf piece yet and the magical hat is very effective. Finally some decoration for the outside part of the display.

That’s exactly what I thought. Everything else has really been kind of specific to the interior, except for maybe Hermione.

This would have been ideal with a sorting hat to finish it off.

Please explain to me how the Harry Potter is 10 times better than the Star wars one. Has lego gotten lazy. They should all be of equal quality. The Harry potter one is way better this year.

I really like this snowman. But wouldn’t it have been perfect with a scarf in the Gryffindor colors like the one Hermione is wearing?

I remain quite dissatisfied with Lego snowmen. The printed headpiece from last year's Star Wars advent calendar was good but apart from that it seems to be pretty much the same every time. The scarf is a good addition but would have liked a new colour, let alone a Hogwarts design

@azgx29:
That seems to be a bit subjective. On the one hand, the Harry Potter builds have been incredibly repetitive (I've read somewhere that they rushed the design at the last minute because they realized how popular the Wizarding World theme is right now). On the other hand, there's no sequel trilogy for Harry Potter.

Battle of the Licensed Advent Calendars continues. Day 14 saw HP bounce back to square the matchup at 7. Both calendars have been going day for day but it’s again time for one calendar to take a new lead on Day 15. Let’s find out which one is triumphant in today’s head to head matchup.

Behind door 15 of the HP advent calendar is a build able snowman. These gifts are common among advent calendars of various themes as the reviewer points out. Highlights is this variant include a wizard hat and a relatively rare scarf. The build is straightforward but does add an exterior element to the developing scene. Or perhaps this is an enchanted snowman that never melts standing within the great hall? That’s up to you.

On the flip side a generic battle droid awaited SW fans behind door 15. These droids are very common. The reviewer rightfully points out that they are welcome as army builders. Outside of this, there isn’t much to see here and todayS offering is rather plain and ordinary, even to the passing SW fan/collector.

In conclusion, based on the reviewers respective scores and general consensus of both audiences, HP takes a commanding point. With that, HP have regained their lead in what’s turning out to be a fine battle this holiday season. The score is now:

HP- 8
SW- 7

To be continued...

By in Australia,

This one is very similar to the one from the City calendar, this year, which I appreciate, 'cause I think it's generally a good snowman design. I do like the scarf, as well.
