By in United States,

Surprisingly interesting! 41908 Extra Dots are the most intriguing. Series 1 of how many?

Gravatar
By in United States,

Huwbot is gonna love these!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Pleasing colors and designs, and I expect the sorting trays will be popular too

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I can see great potential in this - especially the extra dots. I hope the clutch on the bracelets is strong though.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

There are going to be a lot of AFOLs with cities to decorate looking at these and thinking "I NEED THESE!"

Gravatar
By in Hungary,

The booster pack is pretty amazing ppp wise.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

These look pretty cool! The extra dots packs could be very useful.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I need all of those printed tiles. *Need*, I tell you!

Gravatar
By in France,

Umm a rubber bracelet on which you can clip tiny lego pieces... Call me skeptical / cynical but it's almost like it was deliberately designed so that pieces would easily get lost (and therefore easily replaced...)

I'll have to enquire with my 10-year old if this is something she would find interesting

Also is the price for the picture holders right? £12.99 for 423 pieces is the same price as the jewelry stand which has half as many pieces

Gravatar
By in United States,

These look like some great parts packs.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Did anyone else notice that the picture holders are the same price as the jewellery stand, and yet you get 200 more pieces in the picture holders? PPP must be really good!

Gravatar
By in Poland,

Awesome stuff. I did already see some rainbow pieces in some other sets (21045-1: Trafalgar Square, 21051-1: Tokyo, 71025-15: Bear Costume Guy) , and was already wondering for which sets they were made :-)

Gravatar
By in United States,

I see parts that could be useful here, especially for colored detailing on MOCs.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Oh I'm such a sucker for cutesy stuff and printed tiles I'm going to be drowning in these

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

They have done it again, Kids will want them for the bracelets / holders, AFOLs for parts, Win win, and as has been said lots of bits will get lost so we will all buy more. Only disadvantage, many people will chip nails......

Gravatar
By in France,

I like the pencil pot most.

Gravatar
By in Singapore,

I want them all!!! And not just for the parts — I would actually wear 41902 and/or 41912!

Gravatar
By in United States,

The new tiles are very cool, and I'm actually glad to see more colors for these essential pieces, but don't let this new theme distract you from the news that this summer, the next Technic flagship super car is a Lamborghini! Probably not enough details yet to warrant a Brickset article like this, but man, am I excited!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

£3.99 for 109 tiles, count me in. Love every one of the printed tiles in that set might even have to buy a few of these. Personally want the Cosmic Wonder and Sparkly Unicorn bracelets mostly for the tiles and I suppose I could try some things out with the bracelet pieces. £4.99 for those are great value to me.

My only question are these going to be LEGO Store exclusives or similar to the Unikitty sets and be available at certain retailers for example Tesco, Smyths and John Lewis?

Gravatar
By in United States,

For the sake of AFOLs collecting tiles, the Picture Holder, Jewelry Stand, and Pencil Holder are clearly the best route.

I think the wrist bands are overpriced for what you get. However, I am curious about how I might use the wrist band in applications such as a curved sign or billboard.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Brickset should instantly be planning its mosaic building competition because these parts will lead to some SWEET designs from the community.

Gravatar
By in Puerto Rico,

It's a shame that those gem pieces are so far exclusive to that wristband as they would make amazing gem parts although, they have to be available on more sets. My plan is to get: picture frames, pencil holder, extra dots (series 1 and 10 surprise tiles) and the jewelry hanger as they can make awesome part packs.

Looks like the jewellery stand has more large pieces. So if you look it price per gram they'll probably be about the same for the two sets.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Absolutely loving these, contrary to expectation! Just goes to show, don’t judge a book by its... erm... name...

Gravatar
By in Belgium,

Not a single boy to be seen. That said, looks very interesting. The comparison to Clikits is to be expected but they're actually much more like the old Scala jewellery sets which used Lego system pieces rather than bespoke ones.

Gravatar
By in Sweden,

I guess I should be glad to actually see one boy on those packagings.

@aleydita : He's on set 41904.

Gravatar
By in United States,

My wife might make me buy 41901 just for the cat and bunny tiles.

Gravatar
By in Belgium,

My eyes aren't what they once were :)

Actually, think thats still a girl, just one wearing a baseball cap. The model looks similar to the one on 41906.

So Dots is essentially, 'Lego Mosaic Maker Clickits' then?

Going off the various 'lego tapes' out there take seem to be the same rubber material as these bands, I'm 100% sure that the tiles bags are to replace the various parts the bands will loose.

Gravatar
By in United States,

There’s also three boys featured in their promotional shots for these sets. Two wearing the wrist bands and one sitting at a table with a girl working on the pencil holder.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Love them. So cute and kawaii :-)

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Cool. Didn't think I would say this but I find these printed pieces strangely attractive. My daughters love them as well. Quite good value too. What's happening here? ;-)

Gravatar
By in United States,

I see much potential! These are packaged together nicely. I appreciate that they included an image of a little dude somewhere and diversified the color palette somewhat; my son would be more into these than his sister but I'm not sure what he'd do with most of these parts. He likes jewelry and other accessories, but he's not particularly "girly". Should make for an interesting test case. No doubt AFOLs everywhere will be hoarding them.

Hee hee, too true!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Shouldn't the parts fall off when the wristbands are bent?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

What are the jewel like parts in 41903?

Gravatar
By in Belgium,

The logo includes a 1x1 tile but I'm struggling to see a single one used in any of the sets.

Looks like there are two printed ones in 41902 Sparkly Unicorn, but I didn't see any others

In addition to / aside from my opinion on the attributes of these sets - it will just be good to have some more low-priced items on the LEGO online shop. I find whenever there's a promotion, I'm always just shy of meeting the minimum. Usually by $0.01! And I don't like to buy sets I don't want, just to make the required minimum amount. These $3.99 sets will come in handy for that, as I'd want to buy them anyway, and they aren't so expensive that it's a nuisance to add them to an order to meet the promo minimum.

(You can of course also use collectible minifigs for this purpose, but I usually just buy whole sets at a time, and don't often want to buy just one blind bag on the website.)

Exactly, it gives me the 1979 Scala bracelet feel.

(Before the name Scala turned into a meme with the late 90s "barbie" style sets)

Gravatar
By in United States,

I think I'm going to need the Jewelry Stand, Pencil Holder, Picture Holder & Extra Dots sets. The bracelets aren't appealing to me and I suspect that other than the exclusive printed tiles in each of those & the bracelet itself all the other parts will be readily available in the bigger sets.

Xtra been good for that, but I find only a few of those are really massable like the plants, but those tiles are also great to get a lot of.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Some of those Prints look great! Especially the black cat in "Funky Animals."
And is that an octagonal tile in "Cosmic Wonder"???

Gravatar
By in United States,

Very cool! Two thoughts...

1) I guess it's pretty cheap to print on pieces after all...

2) So many people other than young women at the University I teach at would love these. Shame the marketing is still so gendered.

My wife and I will definitely have some fun with these!

Gravatar
By in Australia,

I love the printed tiles. I might get the extra dots Pack, but I have very little interest in jewellery.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Hopefully they will do well enough with boys for the next wave to be less gendered. Partly because gender roles are bad and all that but more importantly I want printed tiles of dragons and other less feminine stuff in colours other than pinks and pastels.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Infinitely better than I was expecting.
The Picture Holders (41904) are a great start for making BrickHeadz animals.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Great tile, printed tile parts packs! Excellent!

Gravatar
By in Norway,

Looks like plain Tile, Round 1 x 1 Quarter are around $1 for 100 on BL now, so packing up some “mixed” bags as Creative Boost could be a new avenue

Can image the fun chaos if this set of tiles get added to PAB walls!

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Thrilled about these sets, and glad to see a lot of AFOL opinions turning around after the vitriolic (and often disappointingly sexist) comments I'd seen following the teaser!

I really love having wearable stuff and functional accessories that exhibit my passion for LEGO, and particularly when it's actually buildable/customizable! I've also had a lot of fun playing around with various playful arrangements of tiles on LEGO Digital Designer since parts like the 1x1` quarter circle tiles first showed up, so I have no doubt that these various whimsical patterns will be just as fun to play around with — to say nothing of how many opportunities the bigger sets could offer to put patterns I've already come up with to use!

It is interesting to see that the bracelets have switched to a more conventional fastening method. My understanding is that they were originally meant to be "slap bracelets", as in the patent document credited to LEGO designer Matthew Ashton (https://patentimages.storage.googleapis.com/1f/79/29/89d826bb77e287/WO2019076710A1.pdf) that was published last April, around when the sets were originally planned for launch. Since the line's delay from its intended 2019 launch was attributed to a material for the bracelets not meeting quality standards, I guess that was probably also the reason for the redesign.

The sorting trays are a thoughtful consideration that definitely will encourage repeated customization, instead of letting loose tiles end up lost in bins with other bricks and become a chore to track down again. I'm excited to see how this theme expands in the future. I can definitely envision a lot of potential for the sort of practical accessories we've often seen in other themes like jewelry boxes, hand mirrors, keychains, bookends, name tags/name plates, etc, as well as more aesthetic-oriented accessories like necklaces, clip-on earrings, and more.

From a business standpoint, I can see this being a big win for LEGO. Not only does it extend their current range of products that appeal strongly to girls, it does so in a way that might reach girls who don't tend to gravitate towards toy aisles or stores.

It's easy to imagine products like these fitting right in at arts and crafts retailers like Michael's/A.C. Moore/Joann Fabrics,as well as apparel stores like Justice/Gap/Hot Topic. That could definitely boost the popularity of this line with teens and tweens.

These older age categories can often face more peer pressure than younger kids, and often feel pulled towards new non-toy-based interests they didn't have as much access or exposure to when they were younger. But even older buyers like those might still embrace this as a tool to help them express their personal style and creative spirit. And obviously there's plenty of potential appeal for us grown-ups as well!

Gravatar
By in United States,

My expectations have been pleasantly subverted. The PPP for these are fantastic, even the bracelets have reasonable PPP. I am heavily considering these, especially once they go on the inevitable sale.

Also, the rainbow tiles here explain their controversial appearance last year in Trafalgar Square.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I was going to say something about what great parts packs these are, but it's 2020 and time for me to stop lying to y'all. I will be rocking those bracelets from my wrists to my biceps, and if that unicorn one doesn't win 2020 Set of the Year I will riot.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Some of these smaller printed tiles are great to add as picture frames in MOC modular buildings. Very nice.

That's a great point! I need to add some Xtra sets to my wishlist, I always forget about them when I'm shopping toward a promo...

Gravatar
By in United States,

@MingusDew you can also buy an individual piece for a few cents to hit the threshold.

Menu --> Shop By --> Bricks --> Pick a Brick

Parts through that method count toward promotional item thresholds, while parts from Bricks & Pieces (the replacement parts method) do not. B&P has more parts, and may eventually include some of these printed tiles. I got the waffle 1x1 round tile there as well as printed tiles from the Chinese New Year's Dinner set.

The online Pick a Brick is more basic parts. What's particularly strange is how inconsistent pricing can be for the same piece.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Can't wait to have that pineapple pencil holder in my life!

Gravatar
By in United States,

When I see the bracelets, I see something like those magnetic wristbands sold for mechanical work to hold hardware--something to hold small parts while digging through my bins.

Prices on these actually seem quite decent. While the whole jewellery idea does not interest me in the least--I love these sets. I'm definitely getting quite a few of these for parts. The bins are really neat but provided, most dollar stores have something similar, but I'll be getting the sets that have the organizers anyway.

Gravatar
By in United States,

A great improvement on Clikits! The problem with Clikits was the lack of compatibility with other LEGO products. LEGO Dots fixes that problem.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Think of all the spare parts in these sets! The Extra Dots is gonna have 109 alone! Haha

Gravatar
By in Turkey,

Colors galore aside, it's a nice way of getting all those tile pieces....

I can imagine master builders incorporating the wristbands into all sorts of things: scenery, art, technic creations. It's wide, flexible and has connections. It's going to get used!

Gravatar
By in Australia,

If the ones with the interesting (and useful to me) parts show up in Australia at a reasonable price, I will buy the sets. Or if the interesting parts show up on Bricks & Pieces I will buy them in a future order.

Gravatar
By in Switzerland,

The best about this are the sorting trays. Very useful. That’s something I always missed from LEGO.

Gravatar

I guess one has to Kragle the bracelets, just to be on the safe side.

Gravatar
By in Poland,

I think this is going to be huge.

Gravatar

My two girls are going to want ALL of those sets!

(And I’m sure I’ll ‘borrow’ some of the printed tiles off them!!!)

Thanks! I'd always assumed that they were "the same" in terms of credit against the promo - no idea they were treated differently. I have lots of parts lists on Bricklink I can start whittling down on LEGO online now too, and get to the promos more easily - that's awesome. Thanks again!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I, at first, thought DOTS was Clikits 2.0. Yet, very little that is not LEGO. Loads of awesome tiles, and absolutely gorgeous PPP on all sets. Not sure if the pineapple pencil pot will replace the coffee mug with a "Bucket Boss" organizer on it (mainly because it can hold a massive amount of stuff), but I really like it.

Gravatar
By in United States,

How in the name of Taylor Swift will the elements stay on those bands without gaps and eventually popping off?

I am fearful for tearful young lasses on hands and knees searching under furniture for a favorite tile that went flying...

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

With regard to comments about the tiles popping off the bracelets, I have found they feel secure. The whole bracelet is made from rubber, including the studs, but they are almost completely solid so feel and behave like plastic.

I intend to publish an article about the bracelet within the next couple of days.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Cool thanks for the response on that. It was the first question that came to mind. Other that color me intrigued and excited!

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Do they have to do the one-eye symbol to show off their bracelet? Not to mention the ears, feline print and other symbols..

Gravatar
By in Canada,

this opens up a whole new world of Christmas decorations.

Gravatar
By in United States,

My daughters are going to love these...I think!

Gravatar
By in Austria,

my thoughts when i saw the pictures (i'm a grown up AFOL 50+!!!)

uhhhh ... kids stuff - no way
hmmm ... colourfull - probably
hey ... looking good - maybe yes
DAMNED - i need them all
arrrrrgggghhh - not another series to collect :-)

Gravatar

Huwbot is the LEGO pre-crime

Gravatar
By in United States,

I’m honestly super excited for this product launch! Both for my kids, but obviously for all the dots to customize buildings. However, even though my son would gladly wear these bracelets, it would be nice if there were some that were geared towards the male gender.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

This is such a nice range. I kind of want one of the bracelets...
