Fast & Furious Technic set arriving in April!

Another interesting new Technic set has been announced at the Nuremberg Toy Fair:
Universal Brand Development and The LEGO Group broaden partnership with Fast & Furious.
Billund, DENMARK (28th January 2020): Universal Brand Development and The LEGO Group have expanded their licensing relationship to include Universal Pictures’ record smashing, home grown franchise – Fast & Furious. This new IP expansion will take shape with LEGO Technic creating a thrilling new set for Spring 2020. The Ninth Chapter in the Fast & Furious saga hits theaters around the world beginning in May 2020.
“The Fast & Furious saga continues its blockbuster growth in fun, new ways – with video games, a new animated series and now in the construction toy segment,” said Joe Lawandus, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Global Toys and Hardlines, Universal Brand Development. “Fans across generations will love building the Fast & Furious car of their dreams with this LEGO Technic set.”
“The LEGO Technic brand with its authenticity and attention to detail and the action packed Fast & Furious franchise are a great match. Both franchises are known for creativity and cool cars so we are really excited to work with Universal on this awesome product that both LEGO Technic and Fast & Furious fans are going to love to build!” Jill Wilfert, Vice President of Inbound & Entertainment Licensing at the LEGO Group.
The Technic building system offers a challenging build for older children and adults, with focus on cool models with authentic details.
Further information about the LEGO Technic Fast & Furious set, which is for ages 10 years and above, will be revealed later this year and will be in stores globally from April 27, 2020.
Which vehicle from Fast & Furious would most interest you? Let us know in the comments.

Was hoping for some minifigs, but that does not seem probable in a Technic set. Will still be interesting to see what they come up with
too fast, too furious for my taste.
Hopefully they’ll extend it to Speed Champions and Creator Expert.
Well that’s a bummer...
I never got that into Fast & Furious, but I know it's a huge global franchise. Paul Walker died when I was in Argentina, and everyone was upset about it since it's a favorite franchise for many down there.
@_Kyle I like LEGO going into "adult-oriented" territory. More stuff for collectors, more IPs available.
It sounds a bit like they're going to do a supercar chassis with perhaps a couple of options for the skin? That could be kinda cool.
If it's Dom's Charger, my son said he'll need it
Me; I'm partial to the Blue Oval
More overpriced Licensed Sets? Hmm...
Then again, the movies are PG-13.
Nothing new here, been doing sets with movies of that rating from 2005!
If we get a Local Motors Rally Fighter, Humvee, Defender, or G-Wagen based on those from the franchise, I'm in.
But, automaker license plus F&F is really going to make these pricey.
Else, this is a "What the heck were the marketing folks in Billund thinking?" moment.
This fits with their strategy to expand in China.
A TT LEGO Fast & Furious video game would be pretty hilarious I gotta say...
I’d like a Vin Diesel minifig. It would have the same emotional range and acting abilities of the real Vin Diesel.
Fingers crossed for a giant Technic safe, with a magic skid plate that allows regular cars that weigh less to tow it on paved roads...
Starting with more affordable Speed Champions sets with figs would make more sense. If its popular, raise the stakes to Technic.
We're already getting Lambo for Technic.
Brick built Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson
I would have thought this theme would be more suited to Creator/Creator Expert.
Huh ok. Let's see how well this sells.
I really didn't like "Top Gear Rally Car". I hope they don't go crazy with modeling and stickers...
It’s probably going to be like Top Gear.
I have next to no interest in the franchise, but I hope we can get a Speed Champions set for a couple of figures or even have its own theme.
TLG seems to be taking a chance on a lot of things recently.
Han’s RX7.
I kind of like the idea, if they make the cars like in the first couple of movies with big rims, cool spoilers and lots of chrome parts. Perhaps lights and sound too.
As long as it's a replica of any of the cars in the franchise I'll be happy. The top gear set would have been better if it was modeled after a vehicle that was actually on the show. One of the cars they use for the celebrity time race, one of the vehicles that they modified for a challenge, or even the death defying Toyota truck, would have grabbed my attention more than the rally car. Which I'm still not sure I'll be picking up, despite my interest in the show. I'm also not a fan of the new Powered Ups, not being backwards compatible with Power Functions.
Not a fan of the series but the cars look great.

???????? you could say that for any of the main actors in the series. None of them are exactly Marlon Brando
Not a big F&F guy, but if they made the Subaru I am IN!! Since they don't rock the Subaru license, i'll save my moolah.
Would've preferred this at minifig scale, perhaps woven into Speed Champions.
Let's see whether it is as "exciting" as the Top Gear set...
Maybe Nissan Skyline

Surely you mean Dwayne "The Brick" Johnson?
My first reaction was - why?
Then - why Technic?
And again - why?
Fingers crossed for a ‘pimp my ride’ announcement soon!
could be a number of different cars/vehicles, Brian's orange Toyota supra, his green eclipse, Dom's 1970 Dodge Charger, Brian's 2fast 2furious Skyline, or the yellow Mitsubishi from that film.
or even the Lykan hypersport.
So many options to choose from.
I would have preferred a Creator Expert set over a technic set. If it's going to be the most iconic Fast & Furious car it has to be Bryan's Nissan Skyline.
Well it cannot possibly be worse than the Top Gear model.
Charger?
It's probably going to be another random rally car with some Fast and Furious stickers pasted onto it.

Didn’t we have Groot?

No we need to bring back CCBS so we can have a Bionicle style The Rock. Forget Star Wars, Super Heroes and even Galidor... The Rock shall be the only human cool enough to step foot on Mata Nui. :P
"This new IP expansion will take shape with LEGO Technic creating a thrilling new set for Spring 2020."
If it is as "thrilling" as the Top Gear car, I know that this is another set that will save me money this year.
Honestly, I find it fascinating that the only announcement of new sets this year that led to any positive reaction in me was the announcement of the "Dots" line of sets. Something I definitely had NOT seen coming. Finally something original, affordable, relateable and fun. And not just another unnecessary IP. Too many of those around already. Stick with Star Wars and Harry Potter and get rid of all the rest. Just a waste of money and resources.
I bet you nobody would have minded a nice classic Dodge Charger as the next Creator Expert vehicle to go along with the Mustang. Even without the F&F IP this definitely would have sold like hotcakes.
Simply combining the words "Technic" with "authentic details" lets my hairs stand on end already. They still have not understood anything.
Why Technic? Why even more bastardization of this once wonderful theme?
Hopefully not a partnership like the Top Gear set: +50% in price for a licensed sticker sheet.

Interestingly enough, Subaru does have a kit of the Ascent. Unfortunately, AeroPro (who makes their promotional diecast) used 100% NOT LEGO to make it.
Hopefully this doesn't turn out like the Top Gear Rally Car.
I'm hoping for the 1970 Charger myself.
What is Fast & Furious?

How about Dwayne "The Block" Johnson?
I feel like TLG is playing moneyball with IPs. This just ‘feels’ so unLego to me. Granted, if it were a license I cared about I’d probably forego that unease.

Well, if LEGO gave him dual faces, one happy and one angry, you could argue that the LEGO Minifigure would have a greater acting range...

I mean, we already have one character Vin Diesel voices in Lego already, in Brickbuilt, Nano Fig, Minifigure and Brickheads form to boot. Now just to decide if "I" and "Am" and "Groot" is a high dynamic acting range: https://brickset.com/search?query=Groot&scope=All
I will wait to pass judgment. I don't buy technic so likely an easy pass, but we will see how it turns out and what car they choose.
If it was creator expert I probably would have purchased it.
The movies are entertaining but you have to suspend all belief.
Being here on a LEGO fans website, I think it is not OK to comment about that movie. But because LEGO is linking now our passion with that movie, I just hope:
-the regular fan of FF will be able to build a Technic set
-LEGO will release this Technic set and that car can be remodeled into an Architecture set. I believe this can be real and this can be done as the FF fans enjoy and believe all of the stunts and crazy jumps in that movie are possible.

"Too Fast too Furious for my Wallet"
The dodge I was honestly hoping it to be Creator Expert
Fingers crossed for Paul Walker's Nissan Skyline R34
I was super excited until I got to the Technic part :(
I have never been a fan of the movies. I must have seen a half of one of them and it was enough for me to know that it's not my kind at all. And one more franchise is coming...
We NEED a MK IV Supra and R34 Skyline GT-R
This is going to be interesting to see how this new IP gets used in future sets, hopefully there will be some minifigure scale sets and not just one off UCS vehicle only sets. I do enjoy the Fast and the Furious films but it is odd to me that LEGO will make this and won't make fairly benign themes like Fortnite and Loony Tunes into sets, I would buy UCS Battle Bus, Wile E Coyote and Roadrunner, and Bugs Bunny LEGO sets in an instant! Please make it happen LEGO!
@SeekerBear:
Wrong brand.
@LegoSolo77:
Well, I mean...he shaves his head. That'd look a little weird. As far as I know, Quirrell is the only character to get a dual-faced minifig where both faces are intended to be viewed at the same time.
@Brick_t_:
That sounds like 3, or maybe 2.
Don’t care about this at all. I really don’t enjoy those movies besides Hobbs and Shaw, and that’s only because of the chemistry between the Rock and Statham. Even if this was minifigure based I wouldn’t care. Easy pass. I’ll save my money for other D2C

Though it is Technic, they could always include some figures. They've done sets like the huge Hogwarts Castle which aren't minifigure scaled but still include figures to display with it. Whilst it'd be a first for Technic, I can see something similar.
I bet its the green Mitsubishi Eclipse. Kinda iconic.
Brian's green Mitsubishi Eclipse from the first movie is my top choice. After that it's the orange Supra or the classic blue Skyline.
@_Kyle
To be fair, it's not like children are the target audience of Technic Expert sets.
1970 Ford Escort from 6th edition's tank scene.
I'd be down for these if they stick with the classic muscle cars.
