Technic Lamborghini coming soon!
Posted by CapnRex101,
Further to the unveiling of DOTS, the International Toy Fair in Nuremberg also starts today. Andres and Matthias from Zusammengebaut are both in attendance and have been reporting from the event.
One of the most exciting announcements relates to the newest Technic supercar, currently known only as 42115 Lamborghini. Images are not currently available but here is the associated press release:
First ever LEGO Technic Lamborghini set will launch globally in summer 2020.
28th January 2020, Billund: The LEGO Group is delighted to announce a partnership between Italian super sports cars car manufacturer, Automobili Lamborghini and LEGO Technic, the building system that allows older kids and adults to create more advanced, complex models.
The new 1:8 scale set will launch in summer 2020 and will be the third model in the LEGO Technic Ultimate series, following on from its hugely popular predecessors, the Porsche 911 GT3 RS in 2016 and Bugatti Chiron in 2018. For fifty years, Automobili Lamborghini has produced beautifully designed, iconic super sports cars that are instantly recognisable. This new partnership will see Lamborghini and LEGO Technic joining forces to deliver the engineering excellence and design flair that both companies have become famous for. With the possibility of constructing transmissions, differentials and gearing systems, LEGO Technic is an advanced building experience that many fans find challenging yet rewarding. When you build with LEGO Technic, you learn how to Build for Real.
For Niels Henrik Horsted, LEGO Technic Marketing Director, partnering with a company like Automobili Lamborghini is an ideal choice: "Following the success of the former Ultimate models, both the Porsche and the Bugatti, it was crucial for us to find a new partner with an iconic vehicle, an unmistakable design DNA and ground breaking use of technology."
Katia Bassi, Automobili Lamborghini Chief Marketing and Communication Officer, says, “The LEGO Group has amazed entire generations with beautifully simple or extremely complex constructions. In the digital age, where entertainment is often via a screen, our collaboration with the LEGO Group allows enthusiasts to live a real experience, reproducing a Lamborghini super sports car in every detail to create an outstanding model, just like the real car.”
The LEGO Technic Lamborghini model will be available in LEGO Brand Retail Stores and the LEGO Online Store from 1 June 2020 and more widely from 1 August 2020. Further details about the LEGO Technic Lamborghini will be revealed at a later date.
Are you looking forward to seeing this model and which Lamborghini do you think LEGO will choose to produce? Let us know in the comments.

Fingers crossed for an Aventador!
I eat my words from the DOTS pictures article! Thanks for bringing this news to the forefront! I can't wait to see this set!
I want to see a technic aventador but for a miura would he perfect as a present for my father's birthday
It’s clear to see who Lego are targeting this year, another set directed at adults in the spiel!!!
Cool, I wonder how it will iterate on the prior two? Function wise, it's probably just steering, a drivetrain, suspension and a flappy paddle gearbox again. The Chiron was able to improve on the gearbox considerably, so I wonder if/how the Lambo will distinguish itself? Probably just looks, the Chiron showed considerable growth in this regard, and I'm sure that this third car will improve further.
I'm not holding out hope for removable bodywork though. That's not how licensors roll.
Fingers crossed on the price- I waited over a year for the 911 and the Chiron. The Chiron was also much more expensive (I think it is worth the greater price relative to the 911), but I'll be surprised if this isn't more expensive again.
As Wavelength did, I would urge those considering this set to contain your impulse need for it; the prices of both previous cars were reduced by a third on Amazon at some point!
In all honestly looking at the previous Technic models of these types of cars for example the Porsche 911 RSR and Bugatti Chiron I'm not too exited I'll explain why.
Both these models had glaring and ugly gaps and tbh look meh, for example the 911 RSR for £139.99 from 2019 looked better than the 2016 £259.99 version in my opinion and the 2018 Speed Champions version looks better than them both but that's my view.
Though I give credit to the talented designers as they do a far better job than I would and they look good enough and for the most part worth their prices. Just not my type of sets I guess.
I just hope they stop at the 3 Ultimate Technic cars, I'll have run out of room in my car display otherwise! A fourth will have to mean a rethink, and a trip to IKEA...
Good to know. In this case, I have to take some extra shifts and physically prepare my wallet.
...and any model of Lamborghini will be awesome!
Hopefully it won't be overpriced like the Speed Champions Lamborghini set.

This should be cool. Hoping hoping
80's kid here--another vote for Countach!
I’m convinced whoever designs the internals of technic cars went to Hogwarts.
Hints in the poster for the Sian: the BUILD FOR REAL has the sideways Y between the REAL and 2020 while the light illuminating the car is an upside down Y.
^^ Interesting!
Oh joy - Another large Technic set I can't afford.
Don't get me wrong, I'm excited (just wishing I had more money).
Guess we'll see when it comes out.
Not a fan of these cars but I can enjoy them, I can't wait to see what comes in the Nuremberg Toy Fair as it is the 28 in Puerto Rico (USA).
Awesome, but not exactly a new partnership. Porsche, Bugatti and Lambo are all Volkswagen Group.
Would welcome a classic red Ferrari for once.
^ Me too, I enjoy seeing what they come up with every year. Some day, when the technic functions advance far enough beyond my 8448 , I may get another, but until then it's still fun to watch. For now, 8448 still does it for me.

8448 was an awesome set, the problem with these new supercars they concentrate more on aesthetics than functions which isn’t what Technic is really about for me. My favourite Technic car is still 8860. That set holds a special place in my heart.
This should be interesting. In theory the angular shapes of lambos should work better with LEGO than the curved ones of the Porsche and Bugatti.
Just like the other two were really no Technic sets this new one won't be either. Just because they call it Technic doesn't make it one.
And if it isn't a Countach I can't even be bothered to read the reviews once they become available. This whole line of vehicles is so annoying on so many levels. I only bought the Decool rip-off of the Porsche because it was my favorite colour lime-green.
@mrdoofa completely agree. Was very glad I got 8448 when I did--the one that came after, 8070, reduced quite a few of the functions in favor of aesthetics. These new ones seem to be doing a good job of both, but reading about the paddle-shift mechanism I just wasn't impressed. I haven't tried one in real life, but the reviews say it's pretty finicky. And I'm not a fan of rubber bands, those are just waiting to fail. Meanwhile, all the mechanics in 8448 still work great 20 years later. (disclaimer: the pneumatic dampers on mine both failed due to design flaw, but Lego replaced them free and they've worked fine since). Also may as well plug my History of Technic Super Cars list since I'm here :) https://brickset.com/sets/list-7808
Orange and black Centenario, please.

I saw it at London Toy Fair, with the Y shaped headlights.
Edit: the correct link this time."
Do you know which colour it will be by any chance? (We already have the Range Rover in olive green)
Edit sorry: Land Rover
My brother will probably like the look of this, but not me. I’m just not a technic person, I do enjoy Speed Champions though.

...and the wealthy.
Hope for a Aventador or a Huracan!
Not gona buy it whether or not it looks good or not, but I am looking forward to seeing what LEGO puts out with Lamborghini.
This should be good, will be getting this and adding to my collection.
Hoping they may go classic on this and do a retro 80s Lamborghini. countach
I'll probably get it when there's a nice Amazon discount. I'm hoping for a nice colour scheme though, maybe green.
Interesting, but as someone else noted, this isn't really a new partner as VW Group own Lambo.
I reckon the LM002 would make a good technic model :)
I didn’t buy the Porsche, Bugatti and Landrover specifically because the gear mechanism can no longer be analysed once the construction is finished. I hope that will change for this model.
I'd be interested if it was a Murcielago LP640 with a Dark Knight movie logo on the box...
I'm convinced it's the Sian. Look at the roof line of the teaser image vs actual lambo. It has a squared center notch not seen in other models.
Since they tend to stick with the most recent models, likely an Aventador, or possibly a Huracan. The Aventador is both more expensive and I'd say more iconic, so likely the Aventador. As I don't tend to buy Technic sets, I'll like only pick it up if it's a red Countach, however unlikely that is.
Well, whatever model Lamborghini it is, I won't buy it. I think these cars are overpriced for what they offer. Limited functions and the design for both the Porsche and Bugatti were both off.
I don't see it happening but I wish it were Diablo SE30. Man, that was a beautiful car.
Just when I thought I had managed to avoid Technic (managing to resist the urge to buy even the awesome looking Mack Truck), LEGO announces the ONE possible Technic set that will be pretty much impossible to resist...
Hoping for an A + B model
The only thing that would make me buy this set was if it was a Countach as the A model and a Diablo as the B model.
As the chances for the above happening are zero at best, there is no way I am going to buy this.
I’ll be very interested to see some images in due course, obviously to see which car has been selected and then how it has been translated into Lego form. I had interest in the Bugatti, but never liked the nose of the car, or the way the pale blue bits looked on the set. As ever, best to keep an open mind until we see the final product.
Finally, a real car.
I actually think this might be an all new Lamborghini that we haven't seen yet, for the following reasons:
- I get the point about the roof notch being similar to the Sian, however the wing mirrors are certainly different.
- The sideways Y that is identical to the headlights of the Sian is also identical to the rear lights on the Aventador - i think this is just a Lamborghini thing rather than being specific to that model.
- Someone with knowledge on previous releases might help here, but why would they not announce which model it is? The Aventador replacement has long since been rumoured so why not launch the new Lego model alongside it, like they did with the Land Rover?
To be honest i'd be happy with any of the cars in their current range or history, or a new one (known or not). Time will tell!
I wonder if they've listened to all the comments about all the functions being hidden. If it's going to be like the Porsche and the Bugatti again, with three hours of work on a gearbox totally hidden in black panels, then it'll be a pass for me, as much as I love Lambo's.

I’ll second that! - here’s to hoping that they go old-school on us.
(But I doubt they will ??)
Hopefully, it's a Hurrian. I would love those angry-looking headlights!!
I think you're right dude
This will be the longest 5 months of my life... A Lego Lamborghini and Top Gun: Maverick... Christmas in July! Yay!
Lo and behold... It's a leap year so I have to wait an extra day :(

Wait, LEGO has got the Top Gun: Maverick licence as well?
I thought sets based on that film would be exclusively available from Cobi?
I'm confused now. Wouldn't think TLG would touch a licence that involves war machinery like fighter planes.
At least the ones from Cobi shown at the Nuremburg Toy Fair looked marvellous.
@AustinPowers
My apologies for being a little misleading. I was referring to the movie (which I plan on watching as soon as I've completed my Lego Lamborghini Sian) rather than any licensed spin off products that may or may not be released by either TLG or others.
So, for fear of starting something which is sure to stir emotions, I'll refrain from commenting on TLG+War Machines other than to say I appreciate the engineering rather than the purpose.
P.S. Thankfully Lego counts the pieces for me... it's only 4 months wait, not 5.... +1 day! Silly Me
I own them all but yet to build. Yellow or black are Lambo colours IMO. Hoping for yellow.
