Woody's Roundup!

©2010 LEGO Group

The first batch of Toy Story sets look as if they are going to be superb. This image was nabbed from the Toys R Us website and stitched together by Ace over at fbtb.net. You can see it in its full 2000px-wide glory in his flickr stream.

Apart from the figures and the horse (whose name escapes me!) there's not a whole lot of new pieces evident but I'm liking the use of the 2x4 tiles for the stickered signs to avoid putting them on multiple pieces. The cactus is also totally cool...

By in United Kingdom,

I don’t really like the Woody, Jessie, Pete and Bullseye Minifigures because they look too much like MegaBloks and the only reason I would get this set is because of the fabulous buildings and mine for my Western collection.

By in United Kingdom,

shame they did not do this when I was younger

I dislike all of the toy story sets including this one. Ben 10 and Toy story were poor ideas.

Gravatar
By in Brunei Darussalam,

They should have made Ben 10 sets like this. Oh well.

By in Germany,

Ewww... I HATE over-specialised minifig heads and parts! I think 2010 will be the worst year for LEGO EVER! I MAY, just MAY, buy a Toy Story set to see how are the minifigs, but that's about it for me!

By in United States,

The buildings and stuff are decent, but most of the figs are not. I'll get the "Army Men on Patrol" set and maybe a Buzz fig and be happy.

By in United States,

I think the toy story sets are good, but I wish Ben 10 were playsets instead of action figures. then they might be good.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Toy Story is looking okay, but I really dislike the new larger minifigures. The Western Town set looks alright, but not too good.
Ben 10 looks really bad though. Playsets would have been much better, we don't even have Ben himself yet! Hopefully these will either get another wave with actual playsets not Bionicle-type sets, or disappear forever.

@doodz:
I added all the new Lego SW sets to my wishlist a while back and now I've noticed they're not showing up anymore, either. Before they were pulled they all had a street date of Jan 1, 2010, though, which is the same as last year's new sets around this time.

Ugh... The minifigs do look like Mega Bloks. The buildings and mines, of course, are phenomenal looking, so I might buy it just for those... This set looks like a mix between Mega Bloks, Duplo, and regular LEGO. Not cohesive. Sigh.

Huw - The horse's name is Bullseye. :)

chrisdow121411: It's the other way. Buy any LEGO set and get one of the Creator polybagged sets for free at Toys 'R' Us.

By in Netherlands,

hmmmm... can't say I like the minifigs, but the rest of the set looks fine. What I dislike about these sets (maybe the same as the Harry Potter sets) is that they're just not big enough to give it an excellent rate. It's just a stage from the outside, but it's got no body inside if you no what I mean. Take Hogwarts Castle for example: Nice walls and towers but no real classrooms and stairs and all the other things you experience when you read the books. It's all just too tiny. I know, it would far too expensive if the sets were bigger, but still... Anyway, I'm not going to buy it.

Actually, these sets kind of take something away from the movies. A few years ago I thought it would be great if Lego would do something with Lord of the Rings. You know, building your very own Rivendel!!! But as the years went by I'm glad they didn't. Let's say for now the mystery remains...

Another why??? maybe I'm going more and more off-topic, but I want new Star Wars sets. And by new sets I mean large UCS sets from the original movies. Something like a big B-wing maybe??? Are you listening over there???? :) :)

By in United States,

I just bought a snowman at TRU and got a tree for free. Ct's sales tax is 6% so I got both for only $3.70! I got the last snowman they had too.

The online store ran out of both of the sets.

By in Canada,

These actually look kind of decent, but somewhat Mega-Blokish. I can't wait until they come out. It'll almost be like the return of Western Lego.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Can someone explain to me why it had to be "pieced together?"

I think the parts are a bit big in this set. I'm not gonna get it.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

This looks like some cheap Lego imitation.

Gravatar
By in United States,

They don't look like minifigs anymore.
I like the buildings a lot, but I wish Lego would pick a different theme, my guess is that the Toy story sets will be dumped before the end of next year.

By in United States,

Looks alright with me, probbly buy the set and sell the figures on ebay and have a western place for my minifigures. Of course the army set will be the one everyone will want :)

Gravatar
By in New Zealand,

Why hadn't it occured to me that they'd put 2x4 stickers over 2x4 tile pieces? That's awesome! I hate it when they put stickers over multiple pieces and then you can't take them apart.

As for the Toy Story set itself... I'm not overly excited. Much rather have actual Western lego, but that's unlikely to happen now.

Gravatar
By in Italy,

I think this new Toy story set isn't very good: the minifigs simply seem like jack stone's ones! Apart from that, the building are decent and have a good western looking. My sole worry is about the signs, they are a bit too big and probably are stickers

Gravatar
By in United States,

hmmmm....the minifigures stink, but the design buildings altogether, not bad...

Gravatar
By in United States,

Seems to me the mini figures are juniorized and kidish, but the sets buildings look great!

By in United States,

@ newlegoset333: I had to zoom in on the box art on TRU's website, and take screenshots of each section since you can't see the whole thing at once. There were about 12 or so pieces, so it took 20 or so minutes to do...

By in United States,

Gotta say I loooove the blue windows both large and small but for the price its showing on TRU no way for fifty..maybe thirty five. If they go on sale at some point I would pick it up but other than the Toy Story Lego is a big ole bust. (at least for me).

By in Japan,

Just not feeling it...
I would rather a revival of Wild West than this empty Spongebob-esque foolishness.
The 2x4 plates are ruined by stickers, and the only cool elements are those double swinging saloon doors.
Maybe if their hats fit on Fabuland characters the figs will redeem themselves ;P

By in Denmark,

Any one else think that woody's and jessy's legs are longer than normal legs? Possibly 3 studs long. This would be good in the future to have taller minifigures for more reslistic play/display.
Their heads look awful and i don't like them (i like Buzz's and Zurg's but no others).

Gravatar
By in United States,

i just noticed something about bullseye (the horse). he isnt compatable with normal figures. notice woody has longer legs and the fact that he fits onto bullseye perfectly. normal minifigs are shorter and so their arms wont be able to make, if the wear something like castle armor the fig wont sit down on the studs inside the saddle.

to get around this i suppose you could put a brick down in there, but could you get it out? does THIS sattle come off and will it have a gap in the front so you can push the brick out of the sattle? i dont know, we'll see when someone gets their hands on one!

Gravatar
By in Canada,

@andy0002: I think if you look carefully you will see that Woody's hips are very high in the saddle in the photo provided. It may be standard minifig depth after all (let's keep our fingers crossed.)

Gravatar
By in United States,

It does look like standard height and the saddle is different and is most likely designed in the same proportion to normal figs. The legs are definetely taller.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@voyanui8768-Yes I am posative that they are(compare them to Buzz to be sure). You can compare them on the Lego.com site

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

toy story is going to be the biggest step away from normal minifigs sence star wars

Gravatar
By in United States,

The heads need to be that way for them to be Toy Story characters, however the hats really should have been another piece.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I love Toy Story. Not sure what to think about the Toy Story Legos, but I am really looking forward to the Toy Story space alien.

Gravatar
By in United States,

The army men look awesome. plus those parts could probably be used on other minifigs.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I take back what I said 100%.
