Star Wars Helmets officially announced!

Following the emergence of two images earlier this month, all three of the brand new Star Wars Helmets have been officially revealed!

These sets add to the LEGO Group’s much-loved LEGO Star Wars range that continues to unite fans of all ages all around the globe.
Jens Kronvold Frederiksen, LEGO Star Wars Design Director, said: “The Star Wars galaxy continues to provide us with endless opportunities to bring scenes and characters from the movies to life using LEGO bricks. The new LEGO Star Wars Helmets provide a challenging building experience but only use existing LEGO pieces to recreate the iconic contours and colours of headgear, showing what is possible with the LEGO System in Play.”
“Helmets have been a staple in Star Wars iconography since the very beginning, helping to shape the designs of some of the most notable characters in the galaxy,” said Derek Stothard, vice president of licensing at Lucasfilm. “So, it only made sense to immortalize those helmets in LEGO brick form. It’s always fun to work with the LEGO Group to create new, engaging and mentally stimulating products for builders around the globe, and we’re so excited to bring these LEGO Star Wars helmet building kits, and brand-new packaging, to our fans.”
The new LEGO Star Wars Buildable Model Helmets are the latest example of how the LEGO Group aims to inspire builders of all ages to build, rebuild and get excited by the process of creation. The new LEGO Star Wars Construction Sets will be the first products designed for those aged 18+ from the LEGO Group to be launched with a new stylish packaging designed to reflect the sophisticated nature of the creative process.
All new products in the LEGO Group’s ranges that appeal to adults will now feature the sleek, minimalistic new design across related packaging, building instructions, exclusive content and in-store and online store design.
Genevieve Capa Cruz, Audience Strategist at the LEGO Group, commented: “For generations, children and adults alike have used the LEGO System in Play to challenge themselves creatively and we have millions of adult fans around the world who inspire us day-after-day with their intricate creations.
“Our older fans often look for building challenges related to their passions or interests and many want to display models once they have completed the build. The new stylish packaging reflects the sophisticated LEGO build process to clearly differentiate our sets that appeal to adults from those that are loved by our younger fans. The design for different products will also use cues from our older fans’ favourite films, sports or hobbies to help them choose their next challenge and get them excited to proudly display their creations when complete.”
Are you impressed with these helmets and which other designs to you hope to see in the future? Let us know in the comments.

Passing on these. Hopefully the summer wave will be better. Disappointed there won't be any minifig scale sets for may the 4th.
Because there's nothing more iconic than a TIE Pilots helmet...
It's nice but hopefully in future waves we start to see some stuff from the prequels / sequels.
Apparently appealing to adults means dull branded paperweights.
Honeslty I think the TIE pilot one is the worst off, as making something entirely in black in never a good idea because of how much light the colour absorbs. Add to that the blocky and awkward way it’s put together, and you have more of a misshapen blob that anything else imo.
These builds look so refined and perfect to me, and £54.99 is much better than I was expecting them to cost. Though I'm curious if these are going to be D2C or a store exclusive or easy to buy.
I don't understand some of the hate these have received online they all look incredibly detailed and push the boundaries of what LEGO is capable of when you consider how small these are. The only thing I can't agree with is the price... I already know these will be priced at a premium and in Australia that means extortionate.
I NEED the Boba Fett helmet
I do appreciate the attention to detail on how they managed to include the dent in Boba's helmet.
The stormtrooper is kind of cool, the others, not so much in my opinion. Wonder if they’ll end up making a Mando helmet. I’d much rather have one of those than any of these three.
One of the main problems with the Stormtrooper is the mouth. However, I think its look can be significantly improved by placing the two side stickers closer to the central part of the mouth (inner edge of the tile). This will create a continutity of the black shape, thus avoiding the awkward white border.
Love these, great to see something new and different
Fett is a must buy, the two trooper helmets I'm still on the fence with.
Having seen a front on picture of the Stormtrooper it looks a lot better than the box art suggests but will make my own opinion when I've seen it in the flesh.
Give it a week and someone will have MOCed up a full body go in scale with these helmets.
THAT I can't wait to see.
Genuinely surprised they didn’t do Vader. Would have thought they’d want to kick a series off with a big gun like that
I think they are neat, and I see where they are trying to go with them and who they are appealing to. I personally want Boba and the Tie pilot. Unsure whether I will get the Stormtrooper or not
These all look really good.
Firstly, the packaging is stylish and very appealing. The “grown-up” vibe they were aiming for comes through strong.
The helmets themselves are a real treat. The Tie Fighter Pilot helmet is a welcome surprise and possibly my favourite. The shiny black oozes class.
Any one of three will make a tremendous display piece. Well done Lego!
It's a little thing, but I think the Imperial logos on the TIE pilot are well-integrated and help give it a smoother shape. I do think it looks better than the other two. The Fett helmet looks a bit small and the "T" shaped visor is a little out-of-proportion looking to me.
"....The design for different products will also use cues from our older fans’ favourite films, sports or hobbies..."
does that mean we'll get other 18+ models from other areas and universes? could be interesting.
any rate I really like these
IMHO these 3 helmets look just fine to me considering the size / build scale. And to quote Jens Kronvold Frederiksen: “The new LEGO Star Wars Helmets only use existing LEGO pieces” I examined the tubes in the picture of the TIE Pilot helmet and it seems to me they're made of a bunch of the smallest train wheels that are stacked on Flex tubes. What do you think?
However, I honestly hope those pieces with details (stripes / vents) around the TIE Pilots and Stormtroopers nose piece are either sideways build or printed pieces. It's clearly visible that the tips L/R of their nose pieces are small pointy stickers and I hope those are the only ones in the whole build.
Pricewise I feel that what you get for 60 EUR isn't bad. Now I'd just like to know of what (probably colourful) parts the inside structures are build.
I will for sure be buying the Boba Fett helmet since he's one of my personal favorite characters of all SW and I'm sure Boba's buildable helmet will become the best selling one of these 3! From the other two I estimate the Stormtrooper helmet won't sell bad either, but the TIE Fighter helmet might end up on the clearance shelf though I might be wrong...
These look great but thankfully not for me as that means $60 x3 saved and used on regular sets. Have fun building at home fellow fans.
Kinda weird they didn't do Vader, the main villain of Empire
The Tie fighter pilot helmet is a very good surprise!
I think these are pretty darn cool, especially the Boba Fett. Once they hit a sale, I'm in.
Look at the hoses on the pilot helmet!!! Holy cow!!! That building technique is epic. Also, they’re not 80 bucks. I am on cloud nine right now. I am less interested in the stormtrooper helmet, but the Boba Fett, and the tie pilot ones I will have to get.
WOW! the Tie pilot was a nice surprise! it looks as great as the other two. Can't wait for these!
What piece/part is that tubing on the tie pilot? Is that a new piece all together?
@SinKiller_Nick said:
"What piece/part is that tubing on the tie pilot? Is that a new piece all together?"
It looks like it could be these (https://brickset.com/parts/design-50254), strung on flex tubing.
@someguy827:
You're kidding, right? Black may be notoriously hard to photograph, but in person you can move it around and see how the light plays over it. In terms of sculpting, it looks like it's much better than the other two.
@jokailblinnis:
The "mouth" is the grilled cheeses under the fender. I'm not sure what the chevron is supposed to be, but it's certainly closer to where the nose is located. Anyways, I've got good news and bad news for you. The good news is it looks like those tiles are flush with the inner portion of the chevron, so you really can hide the border effectively with sticker placement. The bad news is, the inner portion is also stickered.
@Bengh_Zeran:
Definitely stickers. If you zoom in, you can see a bit of the bley border on the far right, but more importantly, the stripes are in a 1:2:2:2 ratio on a part that's only five plates wide.
Tie pilot was always my favourite from the films, and those printed dishes will surely be a MOCcers delight.
These are awesome. Great display value too. Hope more will follow. Not too many at once please!
Have to agree with the TIE pilot not being so great--when I was a kid (grew up with Knight Rider) all black was super cool. But as I got older, I learned like many of us that all black Lego translates to losing all the details. It's a pretty good design--and no one will be able to tell. Even the official pictures are low on detail.
You also gotta figure there's another wave of these since Darth Vader is obviously missing. The description of these makes it almost sound like the designs are intentionally convoluted. I wonder if the interiors are some kind of building puzzle? I'm not at all convinced of an "18+" building range, as if a 15 year old could't build these?
I am not even remotely interested in these, I expect the interior build will be very much the same with only the external layers being different, in a similar way to Brickheads. I may be proved wrong but they still don't WOW me in the way a well designed SW ship does.
Wow. Price-per-piece on these is actually....GOOD???
Before I wasn't sure about which of the revealed sets would be the one I'd try, but I find myself drawn to the new Tie helmet.
Maybe not straight away, with all the current events going on, but when the time is right I look forwards to seeing what that TIE helmet, and this whole subline, has to offer.

There is definitely an Iron Man helmet confirmed for Marvel.
To defuse the current situation ... If at least the busts had a mask with a filter supplied (FFP2 or FFP3) ... Case COVID-19 have not been found in Italy for weeks!

They are also making a white house 18+. It was also confirmed in the summer set wave.
They all look fantastic but I'm probably not going to get any of them. Hopefully other characters like Vader or Grevious get love in later waves!
These all look great to me, but I'd personally prefer a rebel pilot helmet.
TIE Pilot is out for me. Boba Fett I will probably purchase. Storm Trooper: maybe. Thanks for the reveal.
I forgot: When you list measurements, please list them in Metric and U.S. Standard. Thanks.
EXCELLENT - LOVE THEM
EXCELLENT - LOVE THEM

oh, did I mention
EXCELLENT - LOVE THEM
Still a hard pass for me, but I am interested in how these will do. Btw, idk how global this will be, but LEGO stores will be closing for 2 weeks due to you know what.
@iriz
A bit excessive.
I like Boba Fett the most but I don’t like what they’ve done with his helmet extension. The Tie Fighter Pilot is the second best with the nice wiring but for all of them, they are overpriced.
These look neat. I hope they do that crazy helmet that Death Star gunners wear next!
edit: ooh, or an imperial guard!
These are GREAT!
Tusken Raider / Boushh / Biker Scout next please!
The TIE Pilot helmet is really cool! A Vader one would be nice, as some are saying it should've been included in this first wave. A Death Star Gunner and even an IG-88 are my suggestions.

You can find this easily enough by Googling 'centimeter to inches' then type in the values in the resulting input form to get the conversion to inches. The internet is your friend ;)
I think these look really good for being built of Lego. If you've seen better helmets this size, please let me know.
I think they would look better with more tiles and less studs showing like the Vader helmet did. For sets being made completely of existing pieces, these should be $15 less, especially since most of the pieces are small.
But do they have a pink 2x2 brick inside?
@darkstonegrey:
And you could just as easily read the same press release on several other sites, if you don't mind giving up the page views. Nobody comes to an AFOL fan site looking to be assigned a research project, and the press releases generally include both sets of measurements meaning it's a lot easier for the writer to copy/paste than it is for even a single reader to go chase down a converter and feed the numbers in individually.
Brickset is based in the UK folks and every country except for 3 uses the metric system. But still, its silly to complain about the units used for a measurement....
well in my opinion worst SW april wave ever
Love Boba Fett - deffo buy
Like the Stormtrooper - probably buy
Hmmm about the TIE Pilot - miiiight buy. To be fair black Lego is difficult to photograph well (even for the pros) so I’ll wait to see some more real world pics before I decide
I'm really surprised how much these are dividing opinion, I think they're really interesting. Looking forward to seeing the Iron Man one.
These look fantastic, the TIE Pilot is really cool. Honestly Boba is my least favorite of them
To quote Darth Vader- "impressive most impressive". That Tie Fighter Pilot is a definite purchase for me. Thank you CapnRex for the pictures too.
I like them. The price is better than I thought. I might get Boba Fett or the TIE Pilot. Not a bad range overall.
Can’t wait to see Vader, Kylo Ren, Royal Guard or Scout Trooper.
At 74.99€ count me out, dear LEGO.
These 3 helmets combined can not be worth about the same as a UCS 1989 Batmobile or The Upside Down.
I understand that a company wants to keep its future developments secret to avoid copycats but when/if you develop a new line, you may want to indicate to your potential clients what is coming up. If Lego were to say: "this the first wave and we will do 3 per year (for example)" then a collector may decide to get in or not but as it stands, this is just 3 random helmets from a much larger universe. Of course Vader is sorely missing for the first wave(assuming more will be done). These helmets are roughly 12 studs wide (at the top of the ears) while Vader Bust 75227 is about 9 studs wide (top of ears) - so I suppose they would have to redo it at the same scale. Coming back to my first point, you don't want the line to expand into something neat but by the time you realise you want them, then first wave is already sold out.
I’d like to see Lando’s Tamtel Skreej helmet. I wouldn’t buy it, but I’d like to see it.
will look great with my Vader 75227 bust.
I think these are fantastic. I really like the idea of a display set that includes a higher level of 'complexity' in the build aimed at AFOL's at this price range.
These are excellent display models!
Love to see how they tackle Iron-Man.
It’s always nice when the ratio holds true. But these, I can’t see them being worth 60USD. I’d finish one and look at it and think, “I can’t believe I gave 60 bucks for that...”
Very cool helmets wave. Stormtrooper grew on me. Tie fighter pilot is also nice. Hope that they will give us a biker scout as well in a next wave. So we can make an ewok drum set.
Boba fett is superb
I have to admit these look nice. TIE Pilot is really well done and looks impressive. If these continue, Biker Scout and IG-88, please. Having said that, they are really expensive. 50€ would have been enough.
Also, I don't like where Lego is aiming with the SW OT the last years. Brickheads, board game, UCS, busts, helmets. And for System, we get repeats like Lukes Landspeeder.
It's nice and interesting what you can make with bricks, but first and foremost, Lego should be a toy and not a display piece. And I'd love to get some nice System sets once in a while. Orange Cloud Car, TIE Bomber, Tauntauns, Rebel Transport, Yavin IV, etc..
Dust collectors. Pass.
LEGO releases a series of 18+ yrs sets with stickers instead of printed pieces. Why?
Realistic scale Lightsabers are coming up next, I guess.

Give a man a fish and he eats for a day. Teach a man to fish and he eats for a lifetime.
If it's too much trouble for you to type a simple string of text into a browser window, then you can easily divide centimeters by 2.5 and get a rough estimate. Probably took you longer to type your post than it would have taken to follow my suggestion.
@CapnRex101 - This article barely loads and nearly crashes my browser, it seems like the images are WAY too large and only scaled down with the "img size=" tag (rather than the standard "unlarge"* function). Not even the "What new license" article loads nearly this sluggish - considering its 500+ comments and the crappy implementation of the "Gravatar" system (which downloads all the "default avatars" individually for each user rather than once-and-for-all).
*Unlarge - a click-to-enlarge function that tries to "help you out" by sizing the image to your screen, so the "enlarged" image is often smaller than the original one unless you also (in this case) click the crossed arrows. Speaking of which - is it possible to make scrolling sideways (on a touchpad) *actually* scroll the image rather than frantically loading the next or previous ones?
Re the measurements - it's easy for us in metric country to get uppity on this, just keep in mind that for most people it much easier to *multiply* by 2.5 (to convert inches to centimeters) than it is to *divide* by 2.5 (to convert centimeters to inches).

I actually really like the TIE pilot helmet. It's nice to see some sets that aren't just re-hashes of the same sets they've done umpteen times already.

You do realize LEGO is trying to expand their brand and reach out to adults for hobby / stress relief with sets like these and the UCS ones? People who aren't necessarily interested in play value? LEGO is still releasing tons of "play" sets for the younger crowd. There's plenty room for everyone to have something they like.

They did a vader helmet/bust last year
Stickers on long term display sets! Seriously Lego! Get your act together.
To those people complaining about the measurements of all things. What about all the times that a US based site has listed everything in the imperial system and the readers from the rest of the world have had to convert it themselves? The world doesn't revolve around the USA. Grow up.
I am not sure if I like the Stormtrooper one, but the TIE pilot helmet is one the best things I've ever seen. I algo tlove the Boba helmtet but, definitively, my favourite is the TIE Pilot helmet!
Can they stop milking Starwars franchise (and rich adults) and make a proper Castle or Pirates line for once (to milk other rich adults as well)???

I think the Stormtrooper helmet is almost as iconic, and Boba Fett is in there, so I'm okay with holding back on Vader for a future wave.
TIE Pilot is my fave, followed closely by Stormie. Boba looks a bit boring imo, but will still pick it up as I need to collect them all. Hopefully they release Vader, Scout trooper, Snow trooper, Cody, Phase 2 and all the rest in the future. This could be a great line.

They're small train wheels all connected with a flex tube inside them
Look at all those beautiful train wheels on the tie fighter pilot helmet... I can count 34 of them... goldmine!
Cool.. Tick, accurate interpretation... Tick, slightly expensive... Tick. Really looking forward to seeing some moc'ers running with this and producing versions of Judge Dredd, Predator... Etc

i feel like IG-88 is more of a head then a helmet ;)
Besides Boba, I'd naturally also like to see Jango and a Scout Trooper. After that, I've got some really weird interests. I'd like Zam Wessell's helmet, and I'd really love to see what they do with Lando's skiff guard helmet. I also imagine them doing a whole series of Rebel pilot helmets, since they have so many different paint designs.
@thatStructVector:
87 comments before mine, 39 from the US. Yeah, there's some duplication in there, on both sides, but according to the last year-end traffic report that included those numbers, the US represents ~1/3 of all site traffic, with the UK in second at a just shy of half of that.
@axeleng:
If you didn't notice, the first two people that basically said to go figure it out yourself are from the US. I imagine anyone outside the US has run into enough articles where a US-based site lists dimensions in inches and skips the metric, so they might sympathize. Unless they're from Australia. Apparently.
10 cm is almost exactly 4 inches. I've found that an excellent way to remember how to convert measurements for things about the size of Lego sets. (Dividing/multiplying by 10 and 4 is easier, IMO, than working with 2.5!)
As for the models in question, they look tempting and well-designed, but I won't commit to one until I've seen a detailed review on Brickset!
@The_Chosen_1 said:
"Wow. Price-per-piece on these is actually....GOOD???"
11c per piece is right on average, and would be good if there were some big pieces, but these models have heaps of small plates which aren't worth that much.
@bmerigan:
That depends on size, shape, and color. 1x1 and 1x3 plates tend to run higher than 1x2 and 1x4 plates because they're the only 1x plates that come in odd lengths. 3x3 plates are still fairly rare, so they will also be more expensive. Obviously black and white are common colors, but Boba Fett has a lot of sand-green parts. While none of the plates are likely to be new, some may be rarer than others. Fett also has a spread of dark-red, and what looks like bright-light orange, plus a color below the rectenna that I can't really identify (dark-tan?). All three have lots of slopes and curved parts, the TIE has a pile of minecart wheels and those Imperial logo radar dishes. I don't think it's as easy to write off the part-out value as you've done.
Boba Fett’s helmet will display nicely alongside the UCS Slave 1. Just so happens to be one of only 2 sets I have on display.
