By in Germany,

The prices are kind of insane but I do like the blue concrete mixer truck.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Well that is a very large cement mixer piece (likely a pair os pieces similar to the city cement trucks)

By in Switzerland,

@darthnorman:

Insane prices can as well be found on page 117, where new Star Wars sets are shown.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I like the Volvo I think that looks cool, doubt I would get it but definitely something that I wouldn't pass on if I ever had the opportunity to get it at the right price.

The Boeing plane is meh and the cement mixer is decent.

By in France,

Add a whole bunch of flame elements to the Dodge Charger and then it would be worth getting

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

SOO getting the ofspray!

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Is it just me or does the Volvo look like the 42030 B-Model?

And yes, those prices are a joke

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Interesting, but did you see the Star Wars ones? Mandr covered them the other day. Pretty middle-of-the-road wave other than the 501st though.

Also, no Episode III Cody :(

By in United States,

Not even a huge technic guy but whoa buddy, that Osprey is on the list.

I’m waiting for the day LEGO makes a technic set that can fly

Exactly! I've been waiting a week and a half for Brickset to announce them, since they were found in a German catalogue. I'd appreciate the first thoughts of CapnRex101.

By in Puerto Rico,

Man if that Osprey is done with bricks and plates consider it bought, unless you know of one already in such form.

Gravatar
By in Puerto Rico,

There is also a ST Resistance set and the remakes of Anakin Starfigther as well the Jedi Final Duel.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

I reckon a military version of the Osprey would have been so much cooler but I’m assuming it wouldn’t have met Lego’s policy on weapons

Gravatar
By in Belgium,

That €250 Volvo truck will probably cost around €150-€160 at some point, like 42082.

Gravatar
By in Portugal,

Ohhh the Osprey....

My favorite aircraft.... Helicopter... hmmm... Thing! I think this one will be my first technic set!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I guess I was spoiled by the Liebherr last year and the Rough Terrain Crane the year before because I was expecting something much more exciting.

The Volvo is nice but is pretty much the B-model of the Volvo L350F Wheel Loader from a few years back.

The Osprey should have been the flagship this year.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Yep.. something grabs me about that V.22 Osprey. Nice

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Does the V-22 include the powered bits or are they a separate purchase?

Dang, I need that aircraft...

Gravatar
By in United States,

I wish they’d chosen a more interesting model than a Volvo hauler for this year’s big Control+ set. Well, not to say that it’s boring, but it just doesn’t have the same wow factor as the Liebherr did at first glance. It also seems to have only 3 apparent functions (drive, steer, dump) compared to 7 last year. Still, it introduces a new Control+ motor which should be useful for MOCs down the road.

The cement mixer is a new addition to the 800-1200 pc med scale truck family following such sets like the 2013 service truck and 2014 container truck. However, this model seems to suffer from the same problem as the Volvo with its rather limited (albeit accurate) functionality.

The V-22 looks to be the most interesting of the bunch, offering something fresh that hasn’t been done in LEGO before. Then again, Technic planes have always just felt cooler to me than the trucks. I’m looking forward to this model, especially if it’s designed by Milan or Markus.

By in United States,

my favorites are the blue cement truck and the fast and furious car. The other's are just "meh".

Gravatar
By in United States,

I need that Osprey

Gravatar
By in United States,

I hope Technic picks up the Caterpillar license some day. Or go old school and make some gorgeous green Euclid sets.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Too expensive. Also not a fan of the big molded piece of the cement truck.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Hmmm. Is the “Grosser Winkel-positionsmotor” on the Volvo a Powered-Up replacement for the PF servo motor?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

^ It's a recoloured version of the Spike Prime large motor that provides absolute positioning so I guess can be used as a servo.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

I really (really) wanted to like the hauler/dumper but the front of this thing is about two studs too low compared to the real thing - the height of the cab is inversely way too tall - this will need extensive mods to bring it close to the original. That new "servo" motor is gigantic; not easy to include this in a compact moc. The Osprey seems to be the best model this year (also fairly easy to convert it to full military) - one question remains: what powers the functions? Apparently, there is one motor with a transmission to operate the different functions. But what powers the motor? Is it a new (dumb) battery box or is it a control+ box.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

42114 is also a missed opportunity to bring back pneumatic. A dumper only really needs two positions - up and down (no need for the precision of the linear actuators as in 42100). A compressor and two large cylinders would have been much nicer IMHO. Of course such a design would also need a (expensive) motor just to operate the pneumatic switch (the new switches are now very suitable for that).

By in Turkey,

Cement mixer is my favorite of the bunch. Volvo is nice but I'm guessing you need a compatible smart device (Phone or Pad) to be able to use it. My iPhone wasn't compatible with the Hidden Side set I got.

The smarthub holds the batteries, connects to motors/sensors, and Bluetooth to the Control+ app. Similar to BuWizz.

But the osprey doesnt have control branding in the catalogue, like the Volvo does, so my guess is itll be a dumb battery box.

By in United Kingdom,

Agree with all of Lvl comments, the Volvo hauler is not very complicated for the price of a supercar, and is only using 3 out of 6 possible hub connections. This has already being done by Lego with 8264, and is not too difficult to make as a C model with one of the large mobile cranes. If Lego needs fresh ideas for a flagship set, then they should have a Lego ideas competition, where you have to use all 6 of the hub connections, and promise to manufacture the winner.

Strangely building blocks have already done a Technic compatible Cement mixer, which has a far more interesting rear platform and the side profile looks better and less skeletal (anyone know what the white cylinder behind the cab is for). Anyway apart from rotating there isn't much else going on.

The V22 looks the most functionally interesting, as according to Eurobricks there is one motor and battery box, and you manually switch between rotating blades, tilting angle of blades, lifting undercarriage and moving flaps.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

So, why exactly do we need a licensed Osprey? I get that it's a cool aircraft design and everything, but you could've just as well made a generic VTOL with swiveling rotors and don't care about licensing fees. Also, Lego is threading a very fine line with that model, as the Osprey was for a very long time only reserved for the military.

By in United States,

The catalog had my first look at the summer themed "ice cubes" from friends, and I saw a Jr's Stark Lab in it to...

I am not a huge technic fan - I have ONE set on my canoe the Claas Tractor (Which I got because it was reviewed here)

@ambr The white tank is a water tank that the operators use to add more water to the mix and wash up after they have dumped or dilute any mess on the ground

Pure speculation on my part, but the box marked “motorised functions” next to the Osprey looks a lot like the smarthub next to the Volvo.
