New Halloween and Trolls sets revealed

Yesterday, a couple of new sets were added to the coming soon listing at LEGO.com: 40423 Halloween Hayride and 41258 Vibe City Concert.

The Halloween set is interesting because it isn't a BrickHeadz, and this year's seasonal sets so far have been. There are rumours that we were due to see Frankenstein's monster given the blocky character treatment, but it would be unusual for two Halloween sets to be released in the same year. Maybe the BrickHeadz has been shelved, or maybe not. We will have to wait and see!

The release of 41258 Vibe City Concert is perhaps surprising given the film was not shown in cinemas when it should have been in March, which might lead one to assume that the accompanying sets were a flop. However, from what I've just read it actually did rather well as a direct-to-digital rental, so maybe they were not the failure that they could have been.

It's out on 1st September, presumably coinciding with the release of the DVD.

Oh I like that hay ride! Good little build - especially the tractor and there minifigs in costumes.

For a while there, I thought vignette seasonal sets were never coming back. I’m so happy!

I will note that 40367 Lady Liberty has inexplicably appeared in local LEGO certified stores as of this month (I'm guessing because 4th of July but this isn't the US, we don't celebrate that here). Not sure if it means anything as far as the BrickHeadz theme is concerned. I'm still kinda bummed and baffled that 41597 Go Brick Me barely lasted over six months. At least the wedding BrickHeadz are still hanging around.

I have no reason to be surprised that Trolls World Tour did well. People underestimate the family market. Perhaps the only thing that surprises me is the direct-to-digital aspect. It seems like more families are savvy around digital movies than I thought.

Couldn't have put it better myself!
They were always the last ones on the shelves...

I like the Hay-Ride.
Reminds me of us kids taking a ride in a trailer to fetch hay-bales to set up the annual Village Fête - and wildly dangerous jumps (that I'm glad my Dad never found out about!) off the top of the haystack down onto the loose piles of straw below!

Hang on, I'm grown up now. Hey kids! Don't mess about on farms! (Particularly those modern hay rolls - those things will roll over you like a tank).

The hay ride looks like a lot of fun. Plenty of reasons I want it. I hate horror movies but I love Halloween.

The hay ride guy cracks me up. I can’t tell if he’s trying to be scary or is getting tired of doing laps on the tractor. Pretty sure the designers somehow based him on my father-in-law.

Hay ride looks ok, but I’m bummed it doesn’t include a pumpkin or jack o lantern. Instead, just orange mini fig heads. The yellow 1x2 bricks with grille are really nice though

It does, look at the box photo.

Ah ha! Strange it is not in the main image above. Lovely

That farmer looks like he’s had quite a few serious head and body injuries. Remember kids: farming equipment is dangerous and not to be messed with.

By in Australia,

Though I dont much care for the Trolls sets, Im certainly pleased to see the new fat macaroni piece available in two new colours so soon after it was introduced. The body piece for the centaur troll is pretty neat too.

Ok that Hayride is a must buy.

Apart from the six fat macaroni bricks in two colors (as noted by @magmafrost), "Vibe City Concert" also has *five* copies of the 3x3 radar dish in (looks like) drum-lacquered gold (2017, element ID 33688, part ID 6189071). That's an uncommon element -- the BrickSet db shows only four sets. (I happen to be interested in it for the gilded tower finials on Disney park castles.) Also, there's the TLM2 talking-star element (39611) in teal.

"Stickers, stickers everywhere."

Anyone else notice that some of the stickers on the Halloween set are not applied all the way (wood sticker on the cart) or seem to have bent corners (tractor)? I'd think you'd be more thorough if building something for an official photo! :)

I love it. Reminds me of 40261 Thanksgiving Harvest, one of my favorite vignette sets. A must buy for me :)

Hay, that's pretty cool.

My wife will flip when she sees that Hayride.

I love, love, love the seasonal vignettes. Best set of the year. Buying several. Or more than several.

By in United States,

What is the part number on that transparent tube/slide?

Gravatar
By in United States,

I really like this set. Even my finace said it was cute. I've never ordered on Lego but can you get the free item even with stuff on sale or only new releases?

Gravatar
By in United States,

The new Trolls set actually seems a bit better than the first wave, less cloth parts as far as I can tell.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Love the set (and the new figure torso designs with it) , but is this the first seasonal vignette with stickers?

Gravatar
By in United States,

While I think a brick-built engine would improve the tractor, this seasonal set fits the theme very well. It ain't no Inside Tour Ferguson, but it's pretty well done for a City-scale tractor. Needs fenders though.

Trolls sets hurt my eyes.

I kinda like the Halloween set! It's nothing special, per-se, but it's a cute scene; I love the girl's skeleton hoodie, particularly... and the tractor driver refusing to part with his fedora even for the sake of being in costume certainly lends him character!

If nothing else, I'll probably Bricklink the girl's torso eventually. Might even go for the whole set sometime, if it's cheap, even though I don't celebrate Halloween at all.

That Halloween set, NICE....I’m totally along for the ride.

Reminds me of the long run of Minifigure scale sets from a few years back released for holidays. I think I’m only missing one set......aaaaa HalloWWEEEN set of course. The one with Dracula in it. Grrr...:D

But as much as I’m a BrickHeadz hound I’d be all over a journey through some holidays with new minifigure building sets.

I'm so glad they're doing these again. I hate brickheads. I'm deffo buying two of these, one to go with my Halloween display and one without any stickers for my november/thanksgiving scene with the thanksgiving harvest set.
