Pictures of three new Monkie Kid sets
Posted by Huw,
LEGO has added pictures of three new Monkie Kit sets to its LEGO.com Singapore pages.
The sets are 80014 Sandy's Speedboat, 80015 Monkie Kid's Cloud Roadster and 80016 The Flaming Foundry.
You can find pictures of them after the break.
Via Promobricks.

@Aegis3800 I also as on those two bad guys what it looks like Mantis hair piece from Guardians of the Galaxy 2.
Oooh, those new cloud pieces on the back of the Cloud Roadster are really neat!
Those horned demons! They are superb!
These are all really cool. I’m probably not going to get them, but I think they’re awesome.
Oh amazing! Now I have no need to buy the huge Bull king! The lair is WAY COOLER!

Why not both?? I think it will be an excellent addition to the Bull King mech!
These are all really fantastic! I can’t wait to be broke when these come out.
Continue to be extremely impressed by the Monkie Kid theme. I could honestly see the theme killing Ninjago <.<
As a D&D player, I can't help but see the hair piece of the two baddies in the Cloud Roadster as perfect for tieflings.
Anyone else? Just me?
The speedboat is one I might get if it's not too expensive because I just want that Sandy
According to Promobricks it has 394 pieces which means it's probably 50-60€ but I'm hoping for like 45
I need that Spider Queen YESTERDAY. She's perfect. I'm also loving the Horn Demons, but I'm much less inclined to get their set.
Responding to Omni-Bryx, whose name I can't properly tag, the hairpiece is not the same one used for Mantis, by the way.
Now we're talking! Glad to see some smaller sets thrown into the mix with multiple main characters. For the Roadster, now I've got my fingers crossed we'll see one of those hair pieces in red soon. That would make for a pretty good Hellboy stand-in!
is that hair piece on the girl in Cloud Roadster a new piece or am i crazy?
Just as boring as the first wave imo.
I hope the speed boat can somehow attach to the base boat from the first wave.

I can see that. But if I get them, I will probably display them with the rest of each minifigure as Chinese demons.
I am guessing the orange Horned Demon on the left is called Jin and the blue one on the right is called Yin. Actually, that's not much of a guess - their names are written on their chests!
I don't know what the Spider Queen's name is from the Sandy's Speedboat set, but reckon more than a few people in the west will call her Lolth (kudos if you get that reference without looking it up).
Don't have any of the monkey kid sets but they are interesting, colourful & very detailed sets I particularly like the speed boat well done lego..
I may pick up some of the parts via lego customer services soon though!
Seeing the wheels on the big base, does it fold up into a rolling van like a lot of other base sets we've had could do?
Why the heck are there more comments than likes?? huh.
I appreciate that a lot of MOC builders will be loving the new recolours of different parts, but I just can't seem to get past the mix of colours used on the Monkey Kid sets in general. They are very colourful, just to me looks like clashing colours, like Trolls and the season 12 Ninjago sets, nice colours on their own but when in those combinations, puke lol!!
We aren't getting the Monkey Kids sets as a general retail release in Australia either, so it's full price from Lego online or one of the new LCS shops when they re-open if you live near one. I want the Monkey King Mech only but not sure I want to spend full $230AUD for it if it ever comes back in stock that is. Maybe will in late November or early December when there's good GWP's and double VIP points.
That Spider Queen looks absolutely amazing!
Actually this entire wave feels much better than the first. A lot more cheap sets and the new villains have less of a Ninjago feel.
Personally, I am not interested so much of this colorful theme which is a blessing for my wallet.

It's tough to make minifigures of tieflings due to lack of horned hairpieces (Proxima Midnight does have blue hair with black "horns" although probably meant to represent a headress), but...
THE TEN DIFFERENT COLORS OF DRAGONBORN HAVE ENTERED THE CHAT
Yes! These look just as amazing as the first wave, especially given that they're branching out with the villain characters! The speedboat has a great selection of figures (including the brand-new Spider Queen, the version of Pigsy previously exclusive to the food truck and Sandy's cat Mo who was previously exclusive to the large HQ). The Roadster has two new villains (the gold and silver horned demons) as well as some good-looking civilians (who look a little more distinctive than the ones in the first wave, though perhaps the parts will be shared with future City sets). And the Flaming Foundry offers less in the way of new figs, but does feature all three of the first wave's main villains (Princess Iron Fan, Red Son, and a new, smaller Demon Bull King), making it a good option for people who sat out the first wave.
And of course, beyond the figures, the sets themselves aren't shabby either. Sandy's speedboat is scaled well to the bigfig and gives me some Exo-Force vibes. The Cloud Roadster echoes some of the Cloud Jet's visual motifs while offering a much different sort of vehicle. And the Flaming Foundry is an absolute beast of a mobile HQ—the way it looks folded up (shown in some of the alt pics) is like a massive fortress on wheels!
Nice to see them reusing old moulds and getting them a recolour, like the cat being a recolour of Scarfield.
That said, still dunno who this themes meant to be aimed at as it seems to cover so much ground that Ninjago already does.

It looks like a recolor of the new Dumbledore hairpiece.
Love these colors!
They’re all really interesting, but the expected price bothers me.
I'm hoping for a big Ninjago City like set.
The villains are undoubtedly the highlight of this wave. I’m in love with the spider queen!
Pass for me, hoped for more small buildings or better looking vehicles / mechs. The villains are pretty neat, tho.
The Flaming Foundry looks like it came straight from Nexo Nights.
Prices seem out of control this year. Which means I'll be buying less. Surely I can't be the only one?
It's good that there is smaller set with most of the main characters, but it will still likely cost upwards of $40. I wonder why there haven't been any sets in the $10-$20 range.

The demon bull king is a smaller alternative, but it's like the Igor situation.
Woah, anyone have a clue that demon goth Fortress will cost? That's sick.
Does anyone else get the sudden desire to put the Spider Queen headdress on the CMF Spider Boy body? No? Just me?
I keep having the same reaction to this theme: "Err... I guess."
It just seems like a slightly different flavour of Ninjago.
This theme is impressive and has amazing sets, but hey, is it prohibited to have sets with less than 300 parts for Monkie Kid?
Only one so far (and isn't even a big difference, 259) and is pretty overpriced...
@lynels:
There's a polybag with only 24pcs!
@PurpleDave
Not counting polybags and/or promotional.
Garc it up!
The Flaming Foundry almost looks like it belongs in Apocalypseburg.
So many cool pieces
I'm hoping the foundry isn't a $300 set or other crazy priced number like the first wave. Don't get me wrong I love the sets for their uniqueness but the past wave was felt overly priced for a LEGO IP.
I hope these will reach normal retailers soon as without discounts these sets are not attractive enough at RRP. If they stay exclusive I will only buy a few of the cool parts via Bricklink or LEGO's Bricks and Pieces service.
Oh hey! Singapore represent! Not entirely sure how popular Monkie Kid is here, but the Chinese demographic here is of course familiar with the source material.
Now when is LEGO going to let us order directly from shop.LEGO.com as well as B&P and online PAB? Not to be ungrateful for the physical LEGO stores but with how small our stores are, the physical PAB offerings are extremely lacking and sometimes not even well-kept... thankfully the ones I frequent most are pretty regularly cycled with new parts. And of course, physical PAB just isn't a thing right now with the pandemic going on.
Wonder when the TV show will be released. The animation looks great. Far superior than the cheap 3D look of Ninjago.
It looks like 80015 will provide a cheap way to get hold of the new Spike/Mindstorms wheels.
The Flaming Foundry looks pretty cool to me. The other two, not so much.
Sandy's speedboat is alright, but nothing I'm interested in. I also won't get the roadster, but oh my goodness that thing is absolutely ridiculous! It's sooooo over-the-top and I love how it looks! The foundry is also okay, and I really like the inclusion of the downsized demon bull king. I also like the small metal truck thing, it looks like a combination of the inferno truck and the bull tank.
I like the foundry , but pricing on this theme is the main flaw when only sold at full price by LEGO themselves.
Where are we supposed to get these? Target and Wal-Mart don’t have any new sets and their shelves are nearly bare.

Monkie Kid is only sold by LEGO themselves as far as I know, in both US and Europe.
As for the US stores having less sets, probably is caused due to the fact the Mexico factory was closed for a while so there is less supply of new sets.
Even the European supply of sets isn't completely restored, with sets like Barracuda Bay being on backorder again.
Is the round piece the 6-stud shooter is in from Sandy's Speedboat a new part? I don't recognize it..

It's a recent addition and it's been in sets before...I just don't remember where.

I believe that's the "eye" from 75551 . Or actually, part of the goggle.

Totally. Fortrex 2.0, but evil.
These Monkie Kid sets are so darn amazing! this is totally one of my favorite themes of all time. The hairs, the prints, the builds, just the whole setup of Monkie Kid is so dang amazing.
These sets seem small and of poor value for how many pieces they have (and their expected price). I don't know what it is about 2020 Lego sets but I want less of them than I have in prior years.
The Flaming Foundry is a lazy and uninspiring remake of Nexo Knight’s Jestro’s Volcanic Lair... Of the whole theme so far, only the two big ones from the first wave and possibly the bus from that wave too hold any appeal. As they’re LEGO exclusive ONLY for the remainder of 2020, I’d expect them to be discounted at LEGO.com at some point in time. They’ll only start selling in big(ger) numbers once retailers are allowed to heavily discount in 2021. Hopefully the first wave appealing ones will be available for them to do so.
Was looking at the roadster set.
Is that a new trans color on the ‘dragster’ side build.

I like some of the minifigures, but don’t care for most of the builds or colour scheme. Then again, I’m not a boy in a city in China which is the main demographic at which MK is targeted.

Really? You don't understand how people can like something that you don't like?

The only thing the Flaming Foundry has in common with Jestro's Volcano Lair is... the fact that it revolves around fire. That's it. Honestly if I were to draw a comparison to earlier sets I'd sooner compare it to sets like Garmadon's Dark Fortress (with the large Power Miners wheels being used for the tops of turrets) or the Fortrex (with its ability to unfold from a vehicle to a high-tech base). But it's not wholly derivative of either of those, either, especially since the way it converts to a vehicle (with the wheels of the base interlocking with the wheels of a smaller dump truck vehicle) is something that largely hasn't been done before for a transformation feature.

I wrote that before the additional pictures were added - I can now see that it’s got a lot more features / promise...

I believe the piece at the back of the motorcycle is Transparent Blue Opal, a new color this year which has appeared in only 4 elements so far.
These sets are pushing envelopes for construction and color combinations. The temptation to dive into the them is really strong...
But the economy is...a bit shaky and I’ve got to slow all LEGO down for a while. It’s a necessary decision, not made easier by sets this cool.

Totally! If I ever make LEGO characters for my party I’ll consider that ??
