Winter vignette revealed
Posted by Huw,
Pictures of another seasonal set have been uncovered at LEGO.com. 40424 Winter Snowball Fight features a couple of kids having fun in the snow with their husky and sledge, while a snowman looks on.
It's the second seasonal vignette to be released this year, following 40423 Halloween Hayride: a welcome return to the format after two years of BrickHeadz.
Thanks to Robert at Promobricks for the news.

Why on earth did they use round plates with holes for snowballs? Why not the solid-studded versions?
I actively seek minifigs with winter clothing to fill out my Winter Village. I also like the snow fort wall.
That said, it's a pretty bland assortment of winter scenes. I'll definitely buy it! But not the most creative holiday set in recent memory.
No special or rare parts, that we wouldn't t see in other sets. The only interesting part is a snow wall.
The set is focused on playability what makes it too plain.
You would think at least 2x stud shooters would be in order here.
Yay, vignettes!!!!!
I may borrow the snowfort concept for my Winter Village but I'll probably pass on the set. Earlier vignettes had a snowhill / sled and I need another snowman like a hole in the head. Nice pickup for those looking to fill out their WV but I have most of these themes covered.
Too bad not that new red scarf like the James Potter CMF has.
I’m happy to see the vignettes back as well!
I’d have to look but I remember earlier holidays bring BrickHeadz this year. Did they advertise BrickHeadz for Halloween, Thanksgiving and Winter/Christmas and just pull the plug on them?
I love this! And we have yet another version of a snowman!
I like the mini Ice Fortress, the design for it looks really good!
Any idea when 40423 Halloween hayride is being released in the UK?
So many rounded 1x2 plates. I might have to buy this just for those
Nice , that makes up for a lackluster City Calendar.
Vignettes being back to minifig sets is nice.

I don't know, but those pieces are incredibly useful nonetheless.
Neat, but I admit that it looks like viable designs that didn't make it into this year's advent calendar.
I'm so happy they are doing the Vignettes again. I will definitely be getting this. Way more interesting than this year's boring City Advent Calendar.
That's awesome but unlike the Halloween themed vignette this ones isn't on my radar.
I have a little winter type of thing going on so I might pick this up
It's capture the flag incarnate!
Definitely aimed at the child end of the market rather than the adult - I like it.
Its perhaps more bity than other recent vignettes but that is what makes it a good play set.
Nice set, but Halloween wins this round! As it should :)
Still thrilled they are back to vignettes. Some of my favorite small sets
Brickheadz are lightyears better than this nonsense.
It’s cute, but even in a larger non-advent calendar size, LEGO really struggles with snowmen, don’t they?
This is lightyears better than BrickHeadz nonsense.
So glad that seasonal sets have gone back to Being vignetteS instead of Brickheads.
It’s a big YAY from me!
This looks really cute, oh my goodness! :D I want it!
I know it's not anything *really fancy*, but? It's cute and fun and I just really like the look of this one. Plus, it's got several pieces that, while not new by any means, are ones I've not had chance to get yet so still interest me; including the husky which, as my favourite dog breed, just really seals the deal as far as I'm concerned.
If it's a gift with purchase, I may have to miss out on it, because I still don't have money to spare for big Lego spending; but if it's for sale in its own right, I might just swipe up a copy of it ^^
Snownuts!!! Have to agree with @Veyniac here; rather strange to have holes in the snowballs, no matter how useful those parts are.
I didn't care much for the Halloween set (I don't care much for Halloween in general, to be honest), but I really, really like this one. I love all these extra sets that provide scenery for the Winter Village.
And sure, I hardly need yet another Lego snowman (they're still struggling to get the design right, aren't they?), but I want one regardless.
It is really cute, and I'm definitely getting it. Last year for the extended family Christmas party I put out the few little winter vignette scenes I have ( plus a few extra winter-y type parts) and my little gingerbread Lego house I made with parts on hand, and almost all the older generation played with them at some point in the day. The younger generation were all decorating actual gingerbread houses in the dining area and the older generation were in the living room with the Lego and people kept "rearranging" it. I'm putting out an extra Lego vignette area for the senior set to play with this year and this set will be the focal point.

Lightyears are better than nonsense Brickheadz
I love seasonal vignettes, but as such sets go, this strikes me as the "Assault On Hoth" version of a vignette. Where is the cohesiveness or even a pretension of such?
Come on, did they have to have a launcher and stud shooter? Not bad, but I think the removal of those features would have allowed for a little more.
This set seems quite weak compared to some of the very nice Xmas bonus sets we've had in recent years. I hope there is something better to come along.
I'm not at all a fan of Brickheadz, but the 2018 Mr. and Mrs. Claus brickheadz were excellent.... though the 2019 set with reindeer and elves was the stuff of nightmarez.
Awesome I love these sets!

That's no snowball. That's a snowdonut.
This looks cool (no pun intended), and I especially like how that show fortress is made
Hopefully it'll be released outside of the US, because the Halloween set is still not available in Europe AFAIK.
Is that a new color combo for the husky (light gray instead of dark)?
The snow man needs some eyes and the slope does not seem to be consistently wide enough for the sledge. Guess will go well with those we already have similar 40263 town square and 40262 train ride. Although I find not that different to Lego city sets or advent calendars, and prefer for Christmas something special, e.g. 40292 https://brickset.com/sets/40292-1/Christmas-Gift-Box and 40293 https://brickset.com/sets/40293-1/Christmas-Carousel were really well done in 2018.
Love the Husky dog! I wanted to get the Extras set it came in last winter but it kept selling out at my local store.
I see this on LEGO site coming 9/1 for $12.99, so it's not a promo set.
I spotted this the other day at the local LEGO store (Dreamworld, Australia) along with the Halloween set.
