This year's Bricktober sets revealed

Posted by ,

The Toys R Us brand may be defunct in most of the western world now but it's still going strong in Asia and this year it will be running another Bricktober promotion.

Pictures of the four sets -- one of which will be available as a gift with purchase in the stores each week in October -- have been found on the toy retailer's Singapore website.

The theme this year is fun fair and each set builds a miniature ride which can be connected to the others.

There's a picture of all four after the break and I've added them to the database, with temporary set numbers.

It's such a shame that, like last year's set of four, they won't see a wider release.

They’re quite pleasant.

On another note, did anyone else see those leaked carnival games sets from a couple of months back? Some dodgems and a game where you shoot out the clown teeth. What were those?

Wow this Ferris wheel goes up side down neat. Just hope they also remembered seat belts...

not a regional exclusive, it's a store exclusive. Any country that still has a Toys R Us will probably be able to get these.

Very likely not tho - we still have Toys R Us in Canada and we didn't get any Bricktober sets last year....
Here's hoping!;)

By in France,

I’ve actually seen last year’s bricktober sets around a fair bit- they have been gifts with purchase in my nearest LEGO store, and they are currently gwp in Mr Toys.

Maybe in 12 months I’ll get these...

I loved it when they had the exclusive minifigure packs each week of October. These ones I don't find particularly interesting so if we don't get them in Canada this year no big deal for me. My LEGO purchases from Toys R Us used to be frequent throughout every year because they used to have good sales almost every week. With the production issues in 2020 plus the lockdown which apparently caused a flood of people getting LEGO for them/their kids at home, LEGO sales at TRU have been rare so my purchases from them have declined significantly.

Yet another regional exclusive. Well done Lego. Tbh I wouldn't have gotten this anyway, but I'm worried if they do Bricktober minifigures they will once again be unavailable to me in the UK.

Ferris wheel looks safe.
Anyway, love the carousel.

By in United Kingdom,

I think its fair to say these Bricktober sets have lost their appeal, well at least to me, with the closure of Toys R Us in most Western countries it once operated in.

They aren’t regional exclusives. They’re store exclusives. There is a distinction to be made there.

Incoming salty comments about 'regional' exclusives.. It's TRU.

The Carousel wins - great fun!

So a swing ride is the next fairground creator expert set?

By in United States,

Toys R Us has a US presence on the internet. In my brief look at their site, it seems to just be a third party pass-through, directing all of your purchases to Amazon or other online retailers, as though they don't really have any inventory themselves. I could be wrong, just how it appeared on the few items I looked at.

That said, I wonder if these sets will be available with online purchases at TRU in America?

Agreed!!! Whatever happened to the weekly 20% off a Lego theme sales? They seem to be gone. And nothing from Mastermind as well."

I mean the previous statement just answered your question. Why would retailers offer sales with the high demand for LEGO.

Gravatar

My nearest TRU store went bust about two years ago now and the giant warehouse is still empty...

By in Germany,

Other than in the weeks before Christmas, TRU over here almost never had any discounts to speak of. Plus their staff (at least in the stores that I knew from personal experience) were all incompetent idiots, so small wonder they didn't survive. Don't miss them one bit. Plus these exclusives don't look very appealing to me, so no regrets about not being able to get them. Last year's looked much better. But as there was no way to get them either it's no use crying about it.

By in United States,

So, this won't make me popular, I know, but just pointing out that when LEGO announced they wouldn't have regional exclusives any more, they specifically called out that it did NOT include items such as Gifts w/Purchase, special even sets, or sets only available through through certain 'experiences'. (Experiences they note are LEGOLand, LEGO House, etc.) Anyways, my point is, as much as I hate that it's going to be a pain to get my hands on these if I decide to get them, and as much as I wish they gave us all equal opportunity to get these things, these are also the exact kinds of sets that they called out as exempt from the new regional exclusives policy.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Regional exclusives are still allowed. Lego was clear on this when they announced no more sets would be regional exclusives.

In the following areas we will still be launching products, which will have a certain limitation to availability and production runs:

* Pilot projects, such as Forma, to check out markets and opportunities without being able to make them widely available.
* Gift With Purchase campaigns through LEGO Shop at Home and LEGO Brand Retail.
* Products only sold in certain experiences (for example LEGOLAND, LEGO House & LEGO Brand Retail stores).
* Special Event Sets (Comic Cons, LEGO Inside Tour).

Canada likely won't see it again this year, even though they still have "bricktober" without the 4 weekly sets and lame sales. Most likely just Asian market.

Exactly, just like Toys r Us are Regional per country, so are Magazines, which are published by local printing companies under License of LEGO.

I don't call either Regional Exclusives, compared to something like actual boxed sold sets like Chinese New Year.

By in Hungary,

Where l live, there was never a target or toys r us, so those exclusives were always regional - from another continent. My city’s lego store doesn’t even have ideas sets. And we still live :) so, chill, guys. There’s internet, too :)

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

They’re ok.
But I preferred the Minifig packs that we used to get In the UK for Bricktober.
But as there are no more stores here, I suppose it doesn’t really matter !

Gravatar
By in United States,

Like Carousel...
Are those ducks in any other set just curious.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Toys R Us went out of business in the US because they had a horrible business model that was many years out of date. Huge brick and mortar stores filled with overpriced inventory that sat around for way too long. Plus their online sales were a nightmare, shipping would take over a week and half the time they sent the wrong item. My kids loved exploring the store, but we rarely bought anything. Only retail chain where I've ever seen Lego priced OVER msrp.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Don't think I have ever seen a roller coaster with a giant pizza on it before

You mean China. China will get these. :P

Btw look at the ferris wheel cars! NPU!"

You do know that there are more countries in Asia than China, right?

On a separate note, I am tired of Americans bitching about not being able to acquire four promotional sets built out of relatively common pieces... Let’s talk about the privileges and services that only Americans are privy to. Comic-con, polybags being available for standard retail, stores selling sets early, reduced price on everything (do the conversion rate on LEGO set prices - America gets a way better deal than the rest of the world), weekly sales at Target and Walmart etc. Oh, and in most parts of Asia, we don’t even have Bricks and Pieces! Asia, believe it or not, is much bigger than America. A set being Asia exclusive is much more accessible than America exclusive. Yes, I’m salty but you ‘muricans always get the better end of the retail stick.

They actually have two stores in the US in NJ and Texas, but I don't really understand the details behind them. They're run by the same execs who used to run Toys R Us, but under a new company name.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

For the size they are very well done. I took a look at last years seasonal microscale models and was really impressed, so I now need to source parts in order to build myself.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Very funny this.... NOT

Only a very limited number of people will get it...

ToysRus is dead, dead as a doornail, due to their brainless policy

Gravatar
By in United States,

Somehow I don't think pedantic arguments about how this isn't technically a regional exclusive are going to make it any less frustrating for people who can't get it.

"Over here" must be "over here in Germany".

In DK TrU often had attractive discounts on Lego.

And in their last years they would price-match also web-prices in-store.

By in Australia,

In the distant past Toys R Us here in Australia used to have somewhat OK sales (I still remember getting the re-issue Black Seas Barracuda from a Toys R Us at a decent discount and also the giant Sydney Opera House at 25% off RRP) but towards the end they sucked. They even charged above RRP for some sets (mostly TRU exclusives).
I had my eye on the TLNM shark mech set but even at "going out of business fire sale" prices it was STILL poor value.

This sucks, I like these and my nearest Toys R Us is 5 hours away. :(

Specifically it's exclusive to ONE store, being the Singapore TRU."

The screenshot is from Singapore TRU does not mean this GWP is exclusive to Singapore TRU; rather it will be TRU exclusive mainly in Asia, countries like Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines, Hong Kong etc

Gravatar
By in Singapore,

How about Target price match, 42113 Osprey, Yoda's Light Saber, Fandome Wonder Woman, Lego House, Tree of Creativity, Dinosaur etc where we do not have access in Asia? Every region has sets that they can get whereas other regions cant; same for us, there are so many sets that we cant get.

Same, my Toys R Us purchases this year amount to a grand total of $0! Even Amazon sales are getting lame. Before, the reduced sets had at least 20% off. We are now seeing more and more only 15%. And let's not talk about Prime day. While other parts of the world had great deals, we had one lame set per day and a backpack I believe. Compounded with the 42113 debacle, I guess I am slowly fading/sliding into my second dark age.
