33% off LEGO at Argos
Posted by Huw,
Argos also has a sale on at the moment which includes discounts of 33% or more on dozens of LEGO sets, a few of which haven't been price-matched at Amazon (yet).
The LEGO Art mosaics, Sith, Beatles and Marilyn, are 20% off too, which amounts to a significant saving if you're after three or four of each.

Unfortunately what might be considered by most the best deal has for the most part sold out, as i posted on a site the LEGO Jurassic Park 75936 T.Rex Rampage is only £165 from £219.99, which is a bargain, 25% off.
Sorry--we don't allow links to sites competing for affiliate revenue.
Thanks for the heads up, got the Ninjago Land bounty fancied it for a while but never wanted to pay full price £72 seemed more than reasonable though.

Oops sorry, didn't know that.
Just ordered some great sets but a lot of the clearance sets I added to my basket were sold out. Pity as the DC CMF for only £1.25 would have been a bargain!
Managed to get a 41432 Alpaca Mountain for £27.50
Nice! Got both 31104 Monster Burger Truck and 31108 Car/Caravan for 33% off.
Something is a little fishy (maybe). Set 31108 (Caravan Holiday) is "on sale" for 56.25 pounds. To me that is $71 USD. This set retails at $69 on Amazon. I can only assume this is tax-related. Can someone explain how the pricing works or post a link? Thanks.

VAT - Value Added Tax. We pay tax but its included in the price tag of an item. The VAT is 20% in the UK. Unlike in the US where your tax is added at checkout.
If I'm wrong I'm sure someone will correct me XD
Bought HP Forbidden Forest today for 25% off and collected it the same day from a Sainsbury’s only a few minutes’ walk away with P&P included in the price. Also, because I used Nectar points, it felt free (it isn’t of course, but feels that way). More LEGO centaurs!

Argos doesn’t have to charge VAT if it is selling to a recipient outside the UK or EU. However, it probably does not sell enough outside the VAT zone to make it worthwhile setting that up, so charges it anyway.
Also, even after the UK sale price (and with VAT), it is likely not much cheaper than the RRP in most of the US (with Sales Tax included). Goods are generally considerable more expensive in the UK than US. The Big Mac method is a good, though not perfect, way of measuring purchasing power disparities.
I managed to get the Ninjago Kai Fighter 71704 for 31.48 Euro at Argos.
But Argos is known for posting great bargains that are out of stock on their website :(
Some nice deals but no shipping abroad.
Hmm... tempted by the Marilyn and Beatles mosaics, but I have a feeling that they'll be down to £60 - £70 in a few months.
Plus Top Gear car getting cheap enough to be a good source for a hub, a couple of motors, and a few spare parts!

No, they do not do shipping outside of the UK as predominately a high street homeware shop so are not international apart from having shops in Ireland. They are more similar to Target in the US. John Lewis and Symths toy shops also have sales occasionally.
Interesting the Top Gear car is now the same price as just buying the hub from the Lego Shop. This must have being selling really badly!
To save time in the UK there are price comparison websites which will tell you where to find the cheapest price for a particular Lego set, past historical prices and even e-mail you if the price falls!
I got alpaca rescue for £27.50 or 50% off
Is there a specific reason sets are on sale primarily in the UK? In years gone by ToysRUs in the United States offered a BOGO (buy one get one) 50% off deal on Lego. The last such I remember was years ago when I bought two of the Technic flagship models of the time. And ToysRUs is now pretty much out of business. Other than that I haven't seen a true sale on Lego in years in any retailer here in the States. Only clearance prices on selected inventory.
@Davian, I don’t know why there aren’t sales in the US, but can hazard a guess why we’re having them in the UK.
Over here, there has been a sharp economic downturn as an indirect result of the pandemic. Toys are discretionary goods so subject to feeling the pinch of reduced disposable incomes. That combined with stock levels that hadn’t anticipated a slump in demand has resulted in oversupply and hence price reductions.
John Lewis price matched the Creator Pirate Ship this morning, with an extra 15% off code as well. Went like hot cakes!

Nah Argos does a 3 for 2 in the run up to Christmas every year. It's a bit earlier this year, which I think is partly to boost sales but also to spread out demand. But if I recall correctly, there's quite a lot of evidence that spending on toys tends to go up rather than down during periods of hardship - parents would rather sacrifice things for themselves and make sure their children are happy and distracted.
