Holiday gift guide: Winter Snowball Fight

mr_Fikou picks a seasonal set as the perfect under $25 gift today:
So. The perfect gift, for a price below $25. That’s not a lotta money, huh? I personally am of the kind that never got the really big sets as presents during the holidays, so this price range is not very unfamiliar to me at all. Because not everyone is as rich as others, just being located in this price range makes a set a good present on its own. But I won’t drag on for any longer, let’s jump straight to my pick.
In my opinion, the best set from this year that’s under $25 AND would make for a great gift during the cold season, is 40424 Winter Snowball Fight. The Seasonal theme has been offering us these small minifig-scale vignettes for various times of the year for a while now, but the winter/Christmas-themed ones have always been my favourites. Of course these are perfect small gifts for the holidays, as they fit right in with the season of the year!
The great thing for most of these is that you don’t need more of them to form a nice display/play piece, as they usually provide you with plenty of various scenery bits and characters. And this year’s entry to the subtheme is no different!
You get a snowy hill that also functions as a ramp for the tiny bobsleigh, which is also included. There’s also an ice/snow fortress with a catapult, a large brick-built snowman and a tiny 1-piece Christmas tree. Of course there needs to be people with such a set, so two minifigures of children are included, as well as a husky. They also get a wide range of accessories: a set of skis and ski poles, a small table with some mugs and cookies and, of course, a bunch of snowballs!
All this included stuff makes it a perfect gift for both younger children as well as grown-ups. There’s so many possibilities for the kids to play with, but it can also easily serve as a nice small display piece to decorate your home during the cold season. And if there will be some bigger presents along the way, this is a great small gift to accompany the large Winter Village sets!

Too bad bad it's sold out on the US LEGO.com site. Hopefully you can find it if you live near a store, or not in the US.
Sold out after being available for 1 month and 26 days. eBay prices right around $25 shipped. If you gotta have it, get it now.
@Huw I think this article is missing the "Holiday Gift Guide" tag? Love these articles, please keep them coming. Thanks!
Not exactly my type of set but it does look rather interesting.
Ah yes... the husky will make a fine addition to my collection.
Nice review! This set along with all the other seasonal LEGO sets just arrived!
I'm a bit of a Grinch so the holiday theming doesn't appeal to me specifically, even though I see the appeal. That being said, the snow builds and snowman are a bit enticing, especially the latter.
And it's a bit weird that they're using the studs with holes for snowballs. I get that they probably use less plastic than the typical studs but is it really gonna save costs that much?
It’s a cute seasonal set - the sled build is a bit awkward though, especially in hand.
I wouldn't buy a set just for the winter season, although this one's cheap and has a couple nice parts. And I agree with Trigger_ that the snowballs with holes are weird. Maybe the kids are throwing powdered donuts at each other?
