Oh, I can do a Sherlock Holmes with that violin!

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Hahaha the blacktron-shirt on the kid with the violin is excellent!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I love the return of Space Police!

What is the color of the alien's crowbar? I was thinking pearl dark gray but it looks too shiny.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

I want them all! Best series in a while!

Gravatar
By in Ireland,

That centaur is absolutely glorious

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Only 12? I think my wallet just breathed a sigh of relief...

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

I really like the combination of that two pieces of the watering can from the beekeeper!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Glad to see the Space Police returning! Looks like they’ve also got themselves some anti-riot gear. I wonder if tensions have been escalating in the galaxy since we last saw them in the 2000s.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Ooo, really lovely series that - the drop from 16 figs to 12 did worry me at first when the initial rumors trickled through, but it looks like they've gone for quality over quantity so in the end I'm not too fussed. Better to have 12 that consistently knock it outta the park then a series of 16 with some really good ones mixed with a handful of less interesting ones!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Only three this time

Bee keeper
Aztec warrior
Centaur

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Oh boy! Artist with cool feather headdress? Beekeeper? Space riot police guy? Strange robot-alien dude in space-prisoner outfit? And a friggin’ CENTAUR? Yes ma’am, don’t mind if I do!

I think because of the pandemic, and the nature of how most people feel bags for the figures, they have changed somethings about buying these, including reducing the number of figures in a box. But I could be wrong.

Gravatar
By in Malaysia,

I am going to bricklink the violin unless someone is selling the minifigure very cheaply. Finally after years of waiting for a violin, LEGO delivers.

If I was stuck on a desert island for a few years, I think I'd want a drink too afterwards!

HERMIT CRAB

HERMIT CRAB

That 1x1 ladybug tile looks like it'd be right at home in LEGO DOTS!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Lots of value in the paddle board minifig, prints on the surfboard element and a regular dolphin. I don't know about some of the other ones but that is worth $5 to me

Gravatar
By in Portugal,

I think that the Space Police Officer and the Alien Criminal are the best ones!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Only in for 6 this time: castaway, pilot, beekeeper, ladybug, dog, aztec.

No strong opinion on the box as I've been getting mine from Bricklink lately anyway. I like the reduction to 12 figures...let's face it, there are a s-load of figures out in the wild. Slowing the pace makes sense and both my display shelf and my bank account will appreciate it.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Awesome hermit crab, macuahuitl and violin accessories. Offsets the massive suck of that space cop.

Gravatar

centaur look cool alien bug look awesome

Reducing the number to me at least makes them more special and unique. And since they've increased the price my wallet is happy about the reduced number.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

That is a really bizarre expression for a riot police officer to have...

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Still need to finish Series 20, Series 2 HP and Series 1 Mario, so nice to see only twelve to collect them all. Maybe this time when I make a large order at S&H they'll give me all 12 guaranteed to complete one whole set.

I miss the feel bag method. I really do.

Gravatar
By in United States,

He isn't drunk there is a message in the bottle. See the print.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

FINALLY space minifigs again! Can't wait! The rest look great, too.

Gravatar
By in United States,

If “Aztec Warrior” is the minifigure’s official designation, then that could be confusing, since we already had an “Aztec Warrior” in 2012.
Also, it looks like part 65578 (angled Minifig stand) is not color-locked to transparent!

Gravatar
By in Finland,

My only complaint is that the violin boy is pretty bland apart from his accessory

Otherwise I think this is the best numbered series since like 15 or 14

Gravatar
By in United States,

It's a shame that there are only twelve but as everyone else has been saying the fact that all of them are at least good makes up for it. I love the space characters and the aztec warrior. The centaur is cool too but the piece is already in that Harry Potter set with the centaurs so if I really want one I'll probably just pick that one up on discount.

Gravatar
By in United States,

This is probably the best series in a while. I will definitely try to pick up most of these; the space figures are my favorite, but I definitely want most of the others too.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Anyone else think the alien space bug looks a bit like the Hath from Dr Who? just a different colour.
same sort of breathing apparatus thingy and head shape.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Official names have not been disclosed so I made them up.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

The jaguar warrior is gonna pair nicely with the eagle warrior and the green alien is definitely a Cabal from Destiny.

You're giving me flashbacks to when I was playing the game alone and spent hours trying to whittle down their health. The Mars music is still stuck in my head.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I've worn that exact airplane guy / young pilot costume!

And that castaway should count as a Tom Hanks minifigure. Should have had a Wilson volleyball instead of the crab.

Is that a young Harry Potter playing the violin with his wand instead of a bow?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

So much better than S20 - the SUP, the hermit crab and the space police steal the show for me

Came to say just that about the Hath :)

This is a good series. 12 is a more manageable number to keep up with. Like almost all of them.
Might have to rebuild my Strictly Come Dancing moc so I can include a samba dancer :)

Gravatar
By in United States,

Ooh I like those Space Police and Alien figs. I’ve spent too much time feeling poly bags in my life, though, so I’ll probably just get them on BL.

LEGO needs to give up the blind packaging. Just sell them in blister packs already. Blind packaging isn’t fun.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Is the violinist a young Blacktron Fan? The hair piece causes me to assume so . . .

Gravatar
By in United States,

Great selection! I'll definitely be picking up a few of these!

Gravatar
By in Italy,

Amazing!
One of the best series!
Only 12 minifig. this is sad!
Ok... better 12 cool pieces than 16 not so inspired.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

- Nice to get another way to get the centaur hindquarters.
- Love the violin.
- The hermit crab will be good for a coral reef moc.
- Nice to get another dolphin.

Gravatar
By in United States,

So exited about that violin!

Gravatar
By in United States,

The macuahuitl, possibly the most violent Lego weapon to date? Strong lineup overall, and I agree that 12 is plenty.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Nice minifigs! Too bad we're under 50% for female figs again, but at least it's close.

Gravatar
By in Belgium,

aztec violin and centaur - yes please
rest - no thx

Gravatar
By in United States,

interestingly enough, there are like 4 that I really want, 4 I wouldn't mind getting, and 4 I don't really like.

Gravatar
By in Croatia,

Best CMF series in a while. I love that LEGO chose quality over quantity this time. The Centaur and the Aztec Warrior are probably my favorites.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Space Police 3 had some of my favorite minifigures ever, here we have two more! That theme needs to come back.

This is an all around strong set, and with only 12 I'm more likely to get what I want too.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Hmm overall not my favorite series, I do really like the cast away, beekeeper , Aztec and the violin

Gravatar

Is that meant to be a Gordon Freeman reference with the crowbar and the HEV looking suit?

Its a render, so everything looks super shiny. Its probably pearl dark gray, but we'll find out soon.

Looks like LEGO is kinda running out of ideas with the CMF series. Although the Centaur looks very neat.

How do we know that alien thing isn't a girl for their species?

Gravatar
By in United States,

I admit to having some OCD at play here...but going from 16 to 12 is going to take a little effort for me...only because in my universe everything is configured for 16 or 20 minifigures in a display. I use a lot of the cases sold by TLG. 12...throws this off quite a bit.

I’ll manage, and certainly it’s not a thing where I would blast the company for what is a really good decision...it’s simply a decision that probably should have been made years ago.

Figures themselves? WOOOT!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'm excited about this series. Since it comes in a 36 pack, I'll probably just buy that and not have to fuss with squeezing packages.

I'm especially loving that hermit crab, LOL!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Well...

I can't say no to the violin boy's Blacktron t-shirt now can I? ;-)

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I love the violinist and the beekeeper, and I'd also get the ladybird and the dog costume figures I think. Not interested in space police, warrior or alien bug thing.

The hermit crab is great but I can't help but think that the castaway man clutching a bottle would look like a wino on my street of modular buildings.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Oh, I LIKE that centaur girl! And the pilot kid is very cute, too; I think those two will be the ones I keep an eye out for this time around :D

Quite like the Aztec's design and the singer's headdress, though I don't think I'd buy them myself. I really like the dolphin lady's shirt print, too... and I love the inventive part use of the Harry Potter wand piece as the violin bow! xD

Gravatar
By in Canada,

I hope the SUP fig’s boardies go all around and don’t leave me with another thong out back.

Gravatar

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Looks like the hermit crab might have an angled stud on his back. That'd be a 1x1 round plate and a cupcake swirl on him there, but anything goes!

I also like the Aeroplane suit, the Beekeeper, Space Riot Police, and the Centaur's freckles are really cute. No pugs though, thank you!

Gravatar
By in Poland,

Best series we had since 10.
Shame the price is still so bad.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Looking forwards to the centauride and the Mayan warrior in particular and a few of the others for their accessories.

LEGO has done guns, swords, axes, halberds, spears, lances, flails, clubs, crossbows and longbows among a whole arsenal of violent weapons. Not seeing how a macuahuitl is any more violent.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I still don't like the $4.99 price, but I do like a series of 12 minifigures. Does this mean we may get 4 series per year? I could see how this might be good to introduce new licenses into the mix.
12 + 12 + 12 + 12 = 16 + 16 + 16

wow, some people really like to find problems where there is none... we have 5 clearly females figs, 5 clearly males, 1 unspecified and one alien

Gravatar
By in United States,

None of these really grabs me. I'm sure I'm not the first to make this observation, but with all the animal costumes over the years any Lego town can host a pretty sizable furry convention.

These look cool! But when are they gonna do a second season to the DC comics minifigures. My brothers and I bought the crap out of those! We got 15 of the 16 and had a few repeats too (we didn't get Wonder Woman). Honestly, a second season of that would be awesome!

By in United States,

So many good figures here! Space Police, Alien Crook, Female Centuar, Beekeeper, Ladybug Girl, and Castaway are my faves. Been a while since I wanted to get some collectible minifigs.

Gravatar
By in United States,

* I'm very grateful to them for giving us the centaur body more cheaply in a CMF.
* This is the best Space Police uniform design we've seen, and the alien crook pairs well with him. Makes me want a new wave of the theme, since the SPIII run was the one of the first themes I collected. Gettin' nostalgic.
* The hermit crab is very cute.
Of this group, I'll probably go for the castaway, Space Police officer, alien criminal, beekeeper, festival singer, and centaur (the latter just for parts, though, since she doesn't look very special as-is).

Gravatar
By in Estonia,

At first glance I thought it was a Beach Bum, not a Castaway.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I am excited that LEGO is making a more "affordable" way to directly purchase a complete set. For example, a complete box of 60 DC Series 2 minifigures ("with at least one complete collection of all 16 minifigures") retails for $300. We can - and will - buy a Series 21 box of 36 with 3 complete sets for (presumably) $180.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Who will be the first person to army-build those crabs to build a Lego version of the crab rave meme?

Gravatar
By in United States,

Overly militarized space police seems in bad taste, but the rest of the figs look great. I wonder how easy it will be to get a full box of these; the bag feeling method just hasn't translated well in the era of Covid.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Just the four in the featured image on this article make me want to jump back into the collectible minifigure game! With only 12 in the series, that makes a solid third of them that I want! May have to look into getting a box next year!

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Terrific figures; I’d like them all. But what’s with only 12?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Gravatar
By in United States,

The components that appeal to me most are the new surfboard print, the hermit crab, another appearance of the centaur body, the ladybug tile, and the jaguar warrior's macuahuitl (which the eagle warrior should have had as well).

@Romans122:
It's all CGI, so some colors read a bit funky compared to how they look in real life. In particular, everything is going to look hypershiny because they never seem to adjust how reflective the surfaces are.

@Potters:
It would certainly work for a gardening watering can, but in the sense of a beekeeper, it would be used to produce smoke that calms the bees down while you're working.

@StudlyMcBrickster:
They played around with changing the box size before. For a couple waves, Target in the US got 120-minifig hanger displays. When you opened the shipper carton, the contents were all ready to hang in an aisle (no having to open the display case like with a 60-box). Then some smaller retailers apparently pushed for smaller display cases that would take up less space on a shelf, so they also made a 30-box, which I believe lasted a bit longer than the double-sized hangers.

The problem, at the time, was that they didn't change anything about the 60-box, so in order to make the rarity consistent, 30-box minifigs came 1:2:3 per box, 60-box minifigs switched to 2:4:6 per box, and 120-hanger minifigs were 4:8:12 per hanger. It's the 2:4:6 that made people upset. People were used to buying a sealed case and getting three complete sets. Suddenly that third set would be short about 1/3 of the minifigs, and they'd end up with an even bigger pile of extras, and rarely would that include the most desirable minifigs.

With this batch, they reduced the size of the series as a whole, and it sounds like they're going for a flat rarity (though they could still do 2:3:4 and 4:6:8). It pairs a lot better with the $5 price tag (CMF being the sole LEGO theme that has experienced significant inflation over the last 40+ years), especially for those who will still want to buy by the case. Now they can grab the smaller case for the same price a 60-box used to cost at $3/CMF.

@labronco2:
Or you could make him every character in a Polar Express display...

@FlyerBeast:
Well, nobody's attacking him. He probably comes with an alternate expression for when the alien turns around and notices him.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Loud makeup and sparkles don't automatically equal drag (if so, then the Series 2 Pop Star is also a drag queen) and I don't know how we got an argument about female representation going on here. LEGO has never touched the topic of crossdressing before, to my knowledge, and their art style for adult characters tends to make gender pretty obvious, if not always stereotypical (which is good, it shouldn't always be stereotypical). The Space Police officer would have eyelashes if they were meant to be a woman, and the alien would probably be more stereotypical because nonhuman female characters in LEGO don't usually have subtle designs (see the Lady Cyclops, Lady Robot, and Alien Villainess).

Gravatar
By in United States,

@Mosquitosquisher7:
The first one was an eagle warrior. This one will probably be named "Jaguar Warrior", since he's from the other elite warrior society. They've worked their way out of this problem several times before, with stuff like the two male skateboarders in S1 and S4, or the two female cheerleaders in S1 and S8, besides all the times they've just tacked "Boy" or "Girl" on the end of the name to signify a gender difference.

The minifig stand might be color-locked, though. Friends used it in clear to make part of a chimney, rather than switch it to this color which would have matched the rest of the parts. CMF might be allowed certain color changes that other themes aren't. If that's the case, hopefully other themes pick up on its availability and make use of it while it lasts, like what happened when they had to switch the shade of bley on one of the Mixel joints to get approval for Giantman.

@Meadius:
It's a different color, so this gives you some variety.

@fulcrumbop:
Hermit crabs don't need to be licensed. Wilson could require one license for the sports brand, and another for the movie.

@CCC:
Huh. Weird. Especially for any minifig doing aquatic sports, you'd think the paddleboarder would have curve deco. Amelia is a little girl, so her body would naturally have a more neutral shape. Who knows what centaur physiology is like? And the ladybug...well, unless they were going for a "Sexy Ladybug" Halloween costume, it would make sense for the body of the costume to be somewhat bulky (plus it works nicely if you can find a good head for Francis). That's also 5 of 12 that are female, which is as close as they've gotten to a 1:1 gender ratio, I think. It's certainly a long way from the 1:7 ratio of S1, where the token females were a cheerleader and a nurse.

@B_Space_Man:
I mean, it's definitely pretty gruesome to think about, especially when you consider that they were designed for use against opponents who would be using little to no armor.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@XeniK:
There are tons of ancient cultures that could be represented in CMF form, and tons of mascot costumes they could still do, but it's probably tough trying to come up with new ideas for City/Town minifigs that will feel unique enough to be worth including. People hated the S2 racecar driver and the S3 motorcycle cop because they both felt too similar to minifigs that had entire themes devoted to them. Not everyone is going to jump at the chance to buy a bunch of Vegas showgirls, but at least you can't point at it and say it's too similar to anything that's been done for either CMF or regular retail sets.

And if you really want to see how tough it has to be to come up with three waves of these every year, just look at all the pretend CMF waves that people have posted. Most of them feel very derivative of CMF waves that preceded them, and almost all of them feel very weighted towards one favored theme instead of being as well-rounded as this one, which has a mix of historical, fantasy, sci-fi, mascots, sports, entertainment, new occupations, and everyday life. Reducing the size might help them maintain a better balance of themes, and reduce the chances that they'll have to pick some filler minifigs to round out the set. On the other hand, it does not spell good things for any future Harry Potter waves, since Harry, Ron, and Hermione will always be included.

@el_maga:
I count three with facial hair and/or bare chests, which leaves the dog, the spacecop, and the violin as "undetermined"...except for the fact that none of them have eyelashes, which is a giveaway female trait on minifigs. Excluding minifigs with the Classic Smiley head, they always put eyelashes on female minifigs. Even the S8 Alien Queen had eyelashes. You're free to call them whatever you like, or use them however you please, but officially you can expect that only five of these (all of which have eyelashes) will be given feminine names. It's significant that they've shifted the ratio so close to 1:1 since S2 came out (especially given how they're clearly pushing the minidolls on girls over minifigs), but it's also significant that even after over a decade of this theme, they still haven't quite reached a 1:1 ratio.

@holdre007:
He's definitely bummed to be on a beach...

@CCC:
The surgeon was great. My only problem, though, is that she's the _only_ surgeon. They've reused the surgical cap, and produced minifig outfits that pair well with it, but they've never released another minifig head with a surgical mask. I used one of the caps in a tiny coral reef, and recently found a use for the surgical mask with a toilet paper hoarder.

@8BrickMario: They did Boushh, but that's all I can think of.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@CCC said:
"Why's that? If a female does a traditionally make role is she meant to wear a pink uniform or something to stand out as stereotypically female? There have been characters in the past done very well, like the s6 surgeon, that many thought was male but when you look closely you can tell is female. That is proper representation."

The surgeon you mention had a female gender identity based on the eye printing. The new Space Police figure does not have that particular eye feature. To say, "well, it could be female", while not untrue, is not an example of representation.

@CDM :
The surgeon did have a cinched waist. It was easy to miss because the back of the torso wasn't printed, the front was covered in wrinkles of the same color (black), and she didn't have a visible bust. I'm almost certain that I missed it at the time, and I'm all about the details. I just can't remember if someone else pointed it out, or if I caught it while writing about the male:female gender ratio. S5 was 12:4, and S6 (with the surgeon) was 11:5, which put it right around that 2:1 ratio that they've stuck close to ever since. I was actually surprised to realize this wave had five females, because four would have firmly hit 2:1. I guess S20 was 12:8, which I'd missed (I blame 2020), so 7:5 is as close as you can get to a 3:2 ratio.

@CCC:
Name one minifig that they've officially identified as female, but which has zero female markers (eyelashes, lipstick, bust, or cinched waist). I can't think of any.

Cool series. The violin kid itself however is plain dull.

Gravatar

Since my wife also has honey bees, I'm doubling down on some beekeepers when I find them. Some other really great choices in this series as well but the dolphin trainer wins the best value trophy. If all the minifigs had that many accessories we'd all be drooling.

To be quite honest, I find myself pretty disappointed, which is something a lot of people might not agree with. I mean honestly, I’m not crazily in love with anyone here. Sure there’s some good figures here like the Bee Keeper, Ladybug Girl, Dog Suit Boy, and Violin Kid, but none of those are really revolutionary.

And I think 7 out of 12 figures are just remakes of older CMFs. I do think it’s nice that there’s only twelve because then it’s not quite as repetitive and my wallet doesn’t hurt quite as much, but they are still five dollars which is a bit sad.

But at the end of the day, at least they don’t have boxes for packaging!

I agree with the first article, but from the leaked images we got a few days ago, these will continue to be packaged in bags, which is a tremendous relief to LEGO fans like us who stick to the “feel method” as we tend to call it.

I’m totally going to try and MOC a Ledian figure using the ladybug girl’s cape and hat!

Also, why do you have it labeled as “ladybird” girl? Is it a typo or another name for ladybugs that I missed?

By in Norway,

I think it was a good move to switch from 16 to 12, the market feels a bit oversaturated and I've long been wondering why they haven't cut it from three to two series a year. Also nice that there's 3/6 complete series a box, it makes it easier to share a box and Lego has been notoriously bad at guessing which figures will be popular or army builder material anyway.

The Beekeeper is my clear favorite, just wish he came with a few more honeycombs, and not sure why the bees have only one wing (are they supposed to be flying past rather than crawling on the comb?). Those ribbed 2x2 haybale bricks from 60287 could possibly pass as beehives, or maybe make a long hive with the beer crate element. The pug is kinda cute, but I've never been fan of these open-face costumes. I'm not sure about the colors of the singer/dragqueen, at least one of them should've been brighter like maybe replacing purple with coral.

There are several nice parts (like the violin, ladybug tile*, dolphin and crab), but haven't cared that much for the centaur piece - I think it's a bit tall and that the base for the torso should've been about two plates lower.

*I just need a few thousands to recreate a holiday on the Danish west coast 20+ years ago, we were at a place utterly swarming with ladybugs (particularly clustering on white shirts and cars), and even if the water was a bit cold it was the only place to get away from them.

CCC: I agree, I've always hated those needlessly feminized torsos for otherwise gender-neutral outfits, particularly how BOTH the S5 Zookeeper, the S13 Archeologist and the S15 Animal Catcher had these stupid waistlines. It felt like Lego REALLY wanted to prevent us from making military-themed figures, even after giving us actual nazis and commies in the Indiana Jones theme.

Holdre007: I was thinking he was some kind of beachcomber, and was wondering why he had no metal detector.

Xccj: Yes, the police one is a bit of a bummer, but as with that other set these probably has been in the works for a long time and couldn't be changed on a few months notice - wonder if the face is a last-minute update or if he has a more aggressive alternative expression. And BTW, hasn't Space Police 3 always been in a bit of bad taste, there was a lot of jokes about the theme's xenophobic nature - like an "Alien Rights Now!" campaign mentioning set 5969 and how Squidman was acquitted of all charges while the officer was sentenced for several cases of violence and misconduct, and this comic: https://www.shortpacked.com/comic/legospacepolice .

No! That’s just me being mischievous :~P

I was serious about different names for the same insect though. The insect known as a ‘ladybug’ in North America really is called a ‘ladybird’ in most other English-speaking regions. It’s one of those US English/British English differences.

Very likely it won't because of the peg on the bottom that makes it able to be held by minifigures.
I'd honestly be surprised if the violin case is still in production. Was it ever released outside of the Gangster minifigure?

I think Odeinoichus was referring to the pandemic, and the fact that palping your way through a case full of CMFs in a store full of people wearing masks and belt-mounted hand sanitizer might not go over well.

@AgentR2:
Most of NA refers to them as ladybugs. Most of Europe refers to them as ladybirds. Entomologists use either "ladybird beetles" or "lady beetles" because they're not "true bugs".

@8BrickMario:
Nope. You also couldn't fit a Chicago Typewriter in it, though that's what they were commonly used to conceal. Best you could fit was a revolver, and maybe a really small knife.

By in United States,

These are almost all great. I hope to get them all, but the Classic Space/Police guy is a MUST. (I need ANYTHING with that logo on it!)

I have to say that I haven't been that interested in collecting minifigs in 2020 since I rarely go to the store these days (not that our local Target carries many) and when I do go, I don't really want to be feeling up plastic bags that someone with The 'Rona might have been feeling up an hour before me.

Gravatar
By in Austria,

I always use the minifigs to populate my city or other sets. The rest are less interesting to me and go on the wall display.

Must haves
castaway - Barracuda Bay (love the hermit)
violinist - street musician

Maybe useful
beekeeper - I guess I can put a couple of hives in my MOC park to give him a job
singer - Downtown Diner maybe
dog boy - Pet Shop maybe
space policeman - I've placed the Galactic Bounty Hunter on the roof of the Grand Emporium as a joke so maybe the policeman will go behind him.

Wall display
dolphin trainer
pilot
aztec
ladybird girl
alien space bug

?
Centaur - no idea what to do with her. It doesn't match any of my sets and she's too big for my wall display.

By in United Kingdom,

Agree with xccj a full riot gear police officer holding a shield with a glowing baton or taser is in really poor taste after all the events of the last year so I will not be collecting these. As Yuffie notes its great that they are promoting LGBT and homeless buskers, but they have also had too many run-ins with the police around the world that TLG needs to think more carefully how it packages mini-figs in the future if it is to keep to its non-aggressive policy.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Timely reminder: Police is in fact human. They do good and they do bad.
Also, don't forget Just because the American Police (and third world country police) is horrible doesn't mean that this is happening everywhere. So stop pretending that your "taste" means the rest of the world shouldn't be getting it.

Space Police looks awesome. Totally getting that. Sweat gear as well.
Centaur is very novel (to me), I want that as well.
Honestly, the other look great and fun as well. Like the kid with the violin and the plane pants kid. But I'll just chase the centaur and the space police.

Beekeeper would go very nice with the beehives.

Huw, I liked your comment on the Police Station article that we should focus on the set, not on politics and policing issues, and totally agree. Still, I must comment, it's an odd decision from Lego placing a police officer with a shield in 2020.. The figure though looks superb and we get it that it's the return of space police.

I think a quaranite guy with mask on, with toilet paper etc was a miss .

Most of the figures look brilliant, I like the fact that it's only 12. Centaur, Jag warrior, Beekeper and Tom Hanks with the crab are my favs. And of course the little lady bug and the violin ;)

I felt the HP2 CMFs. I wore a mask (a legal requirement in the UK) and PPE gloves, was not in anyone’s way or within 6’ of others, and had no reason to believe I was ill (yes, I know that you can have coronavirus asymptomatically). So the risk I posed was no higher than other people doing their ordinary shopping. With regards to the risk to me, I wore gloves as I said, wiped down the packets with alcohol wipes when I got home, and left the packets out for five days before touching them again. So there was no particular risk to me or others.

I don’t think the comment is facetious at all. I guess people see different things, which is surely the beauty in Lego. The three mini figures in question : the singer, the bearded beach dude and police man- some see a drag Queen, a homeless guy and a riot police man dressed for trouble. That’s not such a good combo, comprising a quarter of the set. I see a Drag Queen, a castaway and a Space police man and no connection between the three at all. In fact, I’m delighted to see a reference to LGBT , even if that observation is incorrect or misguided

"

Okay, I hope it was genuine then. I personally doubt the singer was intended by LEGO to be a drag queen given their avoidance of LGBT topics, but I'l welcome any readings of them as such. I think the castaway is pretty obvious in concept and people reading him as homeless are viewing it the wrong way, and that was part of why I thought the comment wasn't in good faith.
Worrisome alien/human space politics aside, this could be worse. Next year's Playmobil figure series have an unfortunate layout on one of the collector pamphlets that places a white policewoman with a gun in her hand next to a civilian black woman in the same row. That one's also coincidence, but mighty unfortunate.

The Jenny character, while new, is from the era when minifigures had no defining features printed and all heads looked the same. It was part of the movie gag.

Overall, I like this set (rocking hand back/forth) more/less...highlighting:
-The Space Policeman is little...confusing. See: I've always thought as the 'Explorers' and 'Space Police' as being two separate things. I always pictured the Explorers as as more like "Trek/Starfleet" and ergo: they would use 'Security'. And while I know there's such a thing as Military Police...I don't know, doesn't seem to fit the narrative...plus I wish the shield was reversed (dark blue w/white lettering and 'shield' symbol)...The Alien looks cool though.
-Ladybug Girl: Think I'll make her a superher...(puts finger ear)...what's that...already been done?!?...DANGIT!!!...:) (oh well...I still can :D)
-The Jaguar/Aztec warrior will look great along with the Eagle one...wonder if the Singer headdress would work for a Priestess...
-Paddleboarder...WOW, that's a lot of gear: Board, and Paddle (duh), but also...A DOLPHIN...
-Centaur looks cool; probably get a few to augment the Forrestman army, changing/swapping a few of their hairpieces.
