Iron Man 3 pictures published by B&N
Posted by Huw,Barnes and Noble has published pictures and set names of three Iron Man 3 sets. They are:
76006 Iron Man: Extremis Sea Port Battle
76007 Iron Man: Malibu Mansion Attack
76008 Iron Man vs. The Mandarin: Ultimate Showdown
You can see more pictures at the B&N website here, here and here. They will be available on May 15, apparently.
As I said after I saw them at the toy fair, and as you can now see, they are somewhat under whelming. The figures, as ever, look great but the rest of the sets are a little lacklustre, IMO.
Thanks to eagle-eyed dezslade for the news.
Update: Unsurprisingly, we've been asked to remove the images by LEGO. They are still on the B&N site, but probably not for long.
Update: They've been removed from the B&N website now. I hope you saved a copy!

They've got no display value at all. Each set is only as good or valueable as the minifigures it contains. I'm not going to bother sugarcoating how bad the sets are, because the CAD prices will eventually just ad insult to injury.
Yeah I saw these early today and they are so bad I didn't want to show anyone else.
The Iron Man boat is nice, but I like almost like every boat.
i don't mind the mansion set... will deff buy the one with war machine though :P
The sets look AWESOME! Looking forward to getting them. Iron Man is also my favorite Marvel guy.
While they're not great, I do like a bunch of things. (1) War Machine minifig! (2) I love Lego helicopters, and I adore the chopper in the Mansion Attack set. That looks awesome! (3) Pepper minifig! (4) The Mandarin minifig is just some dude, but eh, I'll add it to my MU supervillain collection, so it's all good.
Quite mediocre sets, the only reason I'll buy them is because I'm a big Marvel fan. But I have to say these pictures seem to be quite spoiler-y.
I do like the mansion, and the boat is looking decent as well, but not a lot to be excited for here beyond that for me. If you ask me the Mandarin Minifigure looks pretty poor all in all as well which is a real shame, I am very happy to see that War Machine does indeed have a machine gun on his back.
I am in disappoint...
Malibu Mansion Attack has intrigued me from the start, particularly after seeing the trailer! I was eager to see my [completely unrealistic] vision of the set. At first glance I was, naturally, a little disappointed but after looking closer the interior appears to be quite detailed (is the a blender over by the cupboards?). I'll get it and I look forward to the best bit of Lego: renovating Stark's house until it looks more like a mansion, as the title claims it to be! Hopefully we get some interior shots at the NY toy fair next week, but until then I'll remain optimistic! As for the other two, I don't really know what to do with vehicles after I've built them. If I get them it will only be for either the minifigs, or because I'm unable to sleep at night with an incomplete collection!
Hmmm, I am not a big fan of Iron Man (though if you asked me, I would tell you he's my favorite Super Hero) so I know almost nothing about these sets. So, I can't say I like these sets. I also think they look kinda dinky, too.
Malibu Mansion Attack is indeed lackluster. A set like this has so much potential, and it's a shame all you get is a simple set like this.
These sets look rushed through so that they would release with the movie.
They do indeed look rushed. Though this would drive up the price, I find myself wishing these were much larger even though the film has not yet been released. I think plenty of people are aware especially of the lacking nature of the Malibu set (from the trailer). This house has been in all of the Iron Man films, and would look great if Lego gave it justice.
The fact that Malibu Mansion Attack includes a brick-built "dummy" increases that set's awesomeness 100x.
I am sorry, but these just do not look that good at all. Sure, the minifigs are great, but what are minifigs without a good set to put 'em in? I do agree with the above commenters... These look pretty rushed. Moreover, they looking like a cheap merchandising gimmick. :/
Even worse, I still can't get over how the "Ultimate Showdown" set contains just 91 pieces and a goofy little weaponized golf cart that looks more like it belong in a Mario Galaxy video game. The boat is just that, a generic boat, small buoy, and some minifigs. Not liking, sorry.
EDIT: On the B&N website, is it just me, or am I seeing Pepper Potts in the Iron Man suit? Would somebody else mind double-checking the box art for the Malibu Mansion?
Nice boat maybe Lego should come out with the 1% Lego Sets :).
Must say, summer wave of Super Heroes sets is looking really disappointing. What the heck even is that thing in the smallest set? Is Mandarin supposed to look like a bum? And come on LEGO, I know you can design a better mansion than that. At the middle-of-the-range price it's at, I wasn't expecting a super set, but certainly more than a single wall of big panels and curves. At least it appears to contain a half decent interior.
Minifigures look alright (though I'm worried TLG are focusing more on figures than sets nowadays, and that's coming from someone who mostly collects minifigures!). I wish Potts had different hair, and as said Mandarin is just awful, but everyone else looks great. Really liking the Stark and Potts torsos, plus it's a Gwyneth Paltrow minifig!
I guess my hopes of having a hall of armours with all the previous armours in the Malibu Mansion set really was just a pipe dream... sigh
@Skywalker1966
I see it too. Spoilers!
^^^^ Yes it does appear to be Pepper in the Iron Man armour, so by going off of the trailer, does that mean pepper will die, because she gets crushed by the house underwater.
Um....Malibu "Mansion" is a bit of an overstatement.
^^Hum...
Barnes and Noble says that Iron Man vs. The Mandarin: Ultimate Showdown will be avaliable March 15 not May 15, while the others will be avaliable May 15. Might be a typo on their part.
They don't look awful, but I think they could be better. The Mandarin looks weird when compared to the trailer. I also wish they made an Iron Patriot (Captain America suit) fig, but the other figs make up for that.
I'm really looking forward to modding the Mansion set. The other two are real stinkers though.
@Skywalker1966 and @RumPunchDrunk - I too noticed Pepper Potts in the Iron Man suit. Tony Stark appeared in civilian clothing. Apparently, the seeming (over)saturation of Iron Man suits to appear in the film has spilled over into their being used by lots of characters (or perhaps just the more knowledgeable ones).
When I found these I was excited...at first. Then I looked at them.
76008 Looks like Iron Man is fighting Hagrid from Harry Potter in some random thing I built when I was six. 76006 has War Machine, so I'll be buying that one. 76007 Where do I start? I wasn't expecting a full mansion, but I was expecting a full room at least. It seems to be a corner of a room with part of a kitchen. I don't even see a bar, how does Iron Man not have a bar?! Overall I'm very disappointed :( Maybe after I see more of the "mansion" I will be less disappointed. I am buying that 76006 set, the boat is decent...and there's War Machine!
@Skywalker1996 and RumPunchDrunk
Well in the comics Pepper does eventually get some Iron Man armor and she goes by the name "Rescue" I would not be surprised if they use part of that storyline. I would, however, be surprised if they killed her off. I think Happy Hogan already has one foot in the grave so killing of two major characters might be a little much.
That ultimate showdown thing is neat I suppose. It's not cool, it's just interesting. I agree that it looks rushed but I think it's a decent try. I actually doubt it will make an appearance in the movie, the whole vehicle looks too ridicules to be featured in a climactic fight. I'll probably get it for the mandarin to spite the fact that he is not as good as the mansion version.
The boat is cool but it's not memorable. I don't have many boats so I'll probably be picking up this one too. I'm also interested in what Killian's role will be in the movie. If someone can tell me more about his character I would love to know.
Folks, we need to remember the mansion is a set that is in a medium price range. Expecting some spectacular display is unrealistic considering how much the final product will cost. The set looks fine considering its constraints but I don't see myself I'll be buying this one. I'm simply curious who that unnamed figure is that is flying the helicopter.
My thoughts:
Ultimate Showdown: The only reason to pick this up would be for the special Iron Man suit which looks great. The Mandarin looks ugly and the car, .........
Seaport Battle: This looks like the best of the three. The boat looks great and the minifigures are amazing. Of course they didn't add a port, but it's not too bad.
Mansion: It reminds me alot of the Helicarrier set, really small with a few details. Merging the sets together would probably look better. The minifigures are all great, and Mandarin looks a little better, just have to add the Sumo Wrestler's hair.
Anyone else notice Killian's got something weird happening to his face?
http://media.comicbookmovie.com/images/uploads/imlego.jpg
It looks like he's a victim of the Extremis virus. That figure flying the helicopter looks like one of the extremis soldiers.
Yikes. These even manage to make me less excited for the movie itself!
Cool minifigures, but that's definitely it, and I much prefer the older Iron Man armor printing from last year's sets. Can't imagine picking any of these up, especially with so much other stuff that looks so much better.
@that guy from that show - I did notice that. It's an interesting detail and all three of those figs look beautiful. Like @Legolover9531, I think the Seaport Battle is the definite high point of the trio.
That's not a mansion. That's a room.
The mansion comes with Stark's little robot arm assistant! With fire extinguisher! That just made up for everything else.
Has anyone else noticed that it looks like Pepper is in the Iron Man suit on the box cover of 76007 Iron Man: Malibu Mansion Attack?
Geez. I saw a War Machine fig up close the other day, and it's quite well detailed, front and back and legs. It's a fig I wasn't excited about but after seeing it I definitely want one. But these sets...
Man I don't know. I don't like bad-mouthing the designers because I know those guys work hard and put their best into what they do. It looks like they were given an impossible mission.
Nice minifigs
76006 looks like a great set (mighty cool looking boat :P), 76007 is a mediocre set (I like the helicopter, but not the "mansion"), and 76008 is a good set, but I'm not sure how (or even if) it fits in with the movie!! :P
Phew I was worried we'd get a marvel/avengers set without a fire extinguisher
Wow what a disappointment. The ultimate showdown? There is nothing ultimate about that. The Malibu Mansion looks nice, but that is a mansion? The Sea port looks to be the only decent looking set.
76007 is amazing... I love this sets!
I wonder who's that strange man with beard. I'm not a fan of the theme at all...
@ Zelyonii-Zaktan "I wonder who's that strange man with beard." Watch the trailer for the movie, then.
Well, I know that I will buy a lot of pieces to finish that mansion.
Yeah I wont lie..pretty underwhelmed. I love the Iron Man minifig (possibly my all time favorite Lego minifig) but that mansion really is, well, lazy. Might get the cheap set just for another Iron Man but I think thats it
Pete Morris is right, I feel bad about having a go at the designers and maybe they had an impossible task in translating the on screen action into viable sets. But they are pants.
I do want a War Machine fig, but beyond that, these are not purchases for me.
Who the hell is designing the new sets for LEGO... every set looks cheaper and cheaper in design.
Most Everyone that does not like the mansion
I think the mansion is just as bad as everyone else here......but they were told they had to make one for a 50 dollar price point. They could have definitely made it better at a 100 dollar price point but they don't have it. So I think for 50 dollars it's not that awful.
The Mansion set is a play set. It is a scene from the movie in which the Mansion is attacked by a helicopter. So they needed to include:
* Figures
* A Helicopter
* The Mansion
For a certain price point. Be realistic, would you? There are the iconic windows, which is look like are going to explode (awesome) and a decent heli. Plus the robot. I'm all for it.
Huw, just as a curiosity: How is the language used by LEGO when they ask you to remove pictures? :P Is it nice and polite, or mean and threatening? :P
/\ My guess is that it is polite.
I kind of imagine Daleks yelling for the extermination of the images...
Actually it's normally not polite, but for Brickset it might be. For smaller Lego sites it is pretty much "Do what we say before we sue you into extinction".
I looked at the Ultimate SHowdown set first, which was bad because its the worst one and conditioned my expectations negatively. It's even worse than the TMNT sets, which I thought was impossible. But the speedboat is actually pretty sweet, much better than the drek City boats usually are. And the mansion heli looks better than the Deadpool heli, and they did a good job capturing the mansion feel with the inevitable tiny piece count, considering how many minifigs they had/wanted to cram into that set. To me the worst of all the sets is not the builds, it's the figs, which all underwhelm me. Not that I'm a fig guy anyway, but in contrast to the Spidey sets (and I don't even like Spidey) these seem uniconic and uninspired.
@That guy: I've only seen a little bit of Iron Man 2, so I can't really make much judgment about Pepper's fate. To be honest, I'm not much of a comic book fan anyway, but I figured everybody else would be interested in that little bit of information. :P
And, yeah, totally spoilers. :P Still... it makes me wonder. At least one Iron Man suit (presumably with Pepper in it) winds up at the bottom of the ocean. In that case, what happens to Tony? Man, now I may have to see that movie. :P
@tmgm: Yeah... I guess it's not that bad. However, it does look kinda rushed and more resembles a merchandising cash grab than anything else. I mean, let's think about last year's Quinjet. $70 USD, looked great, and came with some good figs. I just don't see why they couldn't have done something a little more like that. Then again, that fits with the "rushed merchandising" theory of mine. :P LEGO's trying to buy into several licenses (Man of Steel, Iron Man, Lone Ranger, more LotR...) and they're just throwing sets out to make money.
Just a theory, though. :P
So Lego is trying to get rid of their superhero licenses then? These sets are awfully phoned-in.
"Update: Unsurprisingly, we've been asked to remove the images by LEGO. They are still on the B&N site, but probably not for long."
Yeah, they should be embarrassed! LOL!
One word. Awful.
@Dez
btw this line made me LOL "76008 Looks like Iron Man is fighting Hagrid from Harry Potter in some random thing I built when I was six."
The images may have been pulled from the B&N site, but they are still in Google Image Search. Google the set numbers.
I think it's going to be March 15, as the film comes out 5/3/13. I doubt the images will be off for long, probably only until the first.
Here's the page for the date: http://disney.wikia.com/wiki/Iron_Man_3
i think they look great, so i dun quite understand what all the gripe is about.
1. my only complaint is probably the little cart (not sure that's the thing we'll see in the movie) in the showdown. we haven't seen the movie just yet so i won't go into their accuracy to the real vehicles. however, i do notice the parts are getting larger.
2. the chopper's build reminds me of the one in the deadpool and wolverine set.
3. the best set is the mansion. i think it depicts a broken-off section of the mansion falling down the cliff.
