Creator Expert Porsche 911 available now
Posted by Huw,
LEGO VIPs can now order the 1458-piece 10295 Porsche 911 from LEGO.com.
Buyers outside of North America will receive a 5006655 Porsche Welcome Pack with their purchase. Unfortunately, due to shipping issues, the GWP will not now be available in the USA and Canada. Update: it appears that supplies of it have run out in Europe already. How that can be allowed to happen less than half a day after the set was released beggars belief...
Here's the press release and our review.
#Ad: Brickset will receive a small commission from orders placed via the links in this article.

Done! :)
Yes! Got my order in :D Gonna give it to my dad, used to drive 'm way back when the Dutch police had these. May go and look for orange bricks to mod 'm.
Ordered
I was really excited about the welcome pack and had this pegged as a Day One buy,
but knowing that - AGAIN - Canada got burned because of an american mess-up means I'll be waiting until this is retiring to get it. Thanks, Lego. Really... appreciate it.
I wasn't so keen on it at first but seeing real ones in review it looks really good and the GWP looks really cool and different to usual at least it is related to Porsche!
Ordered.
Free Ice Rink too if you order over £150
how much is the Porsche in the UK?? in DK it is 1199DKK and icerink is with all orders above 1120DKK
£119.99
Finally got rid of my VIP points :), so no Ice rink for me. My 2 favorite things combined: Lego/Porsche 930, just the perfect Lego model.
Hi, Thanks for the update!
Very disappointed about the GWP.
Have you heard if they will ship at a later date? Or will we never see them on this side of the pond?
Pinch me, but I've seemingly ordered this without a hitch! Shocking...
has anyone gotten a order confirmation by mail or in the order status yet??
The free Owners Pack is out of stock already :O
Shortest lived promotion at LEGO?, wasn't even supposed to be live until midnight and its sold out already. Thankfully it was available in the UK so was had a chance. Would love a UK distribution centre not just a Europe wide one.
Just ordered. Although the 'Welcome Pack' was mentioned in the product listing, it didn't appear in my basket or order confirmation.
Anyone else found the same....should I be worried?

If you ordered it after half 11 then its looking unlikely your getting the Owners Pack as it appears it sold out after just 30 mins.

Their email says this:
*Important change
Unfortunately, current shipping challenges impacting the US West Coast have forced us to cancel the limited-edition LEGO Porsche Owners Pack associated with this launch.
Complete nonsense, but whatever. Its 2021....they should have planned ahead.
Im pretty sure mine said was added and 2 items in basket, but lego are slow to email confirmation always and update order page! Glad I bit the bullet, i was going to wait until near midnight but saw on here already available!
Did anyone get the promotion in their basket or have they run out already?

Thank you for that information :(. Horrible. Totally agree!
Ordered at 1100 and the VIP pack is showing in my order.
Makes up for missing out on the mini 1989 Batmobile which appeared on the order confirmation page but had disappeared by the time I got the order confirmation email!
ORDERED.
Absolutely Ridiculous! VIP sold out almost instantly, I was waiting for Midnight GMT, this makes zero sense... Perhaps it will be available at a later date on the VIP rewards center like the Mustang Keyring, but these "Promotions" are becoming a major nuisance by Lego...
No welcome pack? Money saved! lol
Not adding to my order in the UK although I didn’t think it went live till 12 :(

I can’t believe that! I ordered dead on 00:01 and there was no mention of the owners pack. Can’t believe it was live 30 mins earlier ?? oh well I’ve ordered it now so guess I’ll just have to keep it ???????
I'll have 71029-2 play you all a sad song for not getting your free postcards
It's still showing on the product page but doesn't get added to the cart which doesn't normally happen.
That is appalling by Lego. If an offer goes live at midnight, and it’s sells out at 23:30 the previous day, that is shocking planning and service. I ordered at just after 00:00, it didn’t add to basket. Might cancel it now. I want the set, but in no rush to spend £120 with NO gwp.
Ordered around 11pm. GWP in basket, order summary and order on screen after paying. Order in account shows no GWP and just received email confirming order with no GWP.
That’s a first for me. GWP on screen after paying. No GWP on order confirmation. Hmmmm
I've still yet to receive confirmation and I ordered just after 11.
Same here
LEGO's VIP program is really a joke! Thanks again LEGO for messing it up!
Another product launch, another fail. Something has to give here at this stage.
On a related note, getting very annoyed at the constant advertising of the Bonsai Tree and Flowers yet they are sold out everywhere for weeks.
The Porsche VIP gift set has disappeared off the site now. Seriously Lego you had what 10 of these?

I just called customer service in the USA and they said that they had run out of the promotion, this was when they try to add it, as mine was not showing in the confirmation and I ordered at 23.45, and said that is now showing out of stock on the system!
The welcome pack is still available in Australia. And since I don't rereeeaallly need it, I'ma wait to let someone else who really wants it get one.
See? There ARE nice people in society... sometimes.

My order on Lego shows no VIP Porsche pack, however, my paypal receipt does list it.
Ordered in Aus at 7am. Promo pack is in the email confirmation so here's hoping
No VIP pack for US buyers? Great job, LEGO. Looks like I will hold off on purchasing this one.
When will TLG get their act together? So many fans are missing out on great GWPs because they can't figure out supply/demand and logistics.
Out of stock now in 'Straya.
Enjoy your builds, friends!

It was a shipping issue, not supply demand
Thank you for the info on the no GWP for US.
We will wait for it or a discount.
I ordered right at 11pm and DID get the welcome pack, shows in my confirmation email and shows up on my order details online. Guess I was lucky and one of the 10 people who get one!
I placed the Porsche in the basket bit no GWP could be seen. I guess it allready sold out. Such unfortunate. A new bad habit for Lego?
I placed my order in first 6 minutes after 911 became available. GWP was in the basket and it's shown in PayPal but no GWP in e-mail or in My Orders. : /
That happened to me too with the Blacksmiths. The valentine set was in my cart when I checked out then was absent from my email confirmation and absent from my order overview on LEGO. Very messed up.
In Italy GWP went out of stock in about 30 minute. Anyway I’ve Found it on mi cart. Seems really interesting.
Looks kinda cool but upon further notice looks like lego bricks don't do the smooth lines of the 911 justice
Ordered at 1130ish last night, just happened to check the page and saw it was available. I basically assumed I’d be getting the gift, but yeah - it didn’t show on the order page or my email so I guess I missed out.
If it sold out that quick, that’s crazy. It’s still advertised on the product page and as a vip, being allowed to buy early, I figured they would have more than a handful of these gifts. Humph. Disappointing.
Wait that GWP is really epic?
VIP LEGO® Porsche Welcome Pack
Item No 5006655
Is what it says in Paypals email.
I just happened to go here at 11:30 waiting until 00:01, and saw already available, but comments saying no GWP. I assumed it was because Lego stated it was from 16/2... Back at 00:01 and no GWP and read comments - stock ran out at 11:30 on the 15th. Pfft!
I'm surprised they didn't throw in a 75895 to make up.
If you want something on a release day, always check from 11pm the night before for the UK.
Looks like I was wise to stay up refreshing the page until 0:00 local time. Got one with the promotional pack on screen, in mail and on order status page :)
I wonder if the ones destined for the US were used in other regions so there were more than would have otherwise been available (in which case even worse it ran out so fast) or if they are yet to surface in some way i.e. may appear later on / VIP Reward / lost / destroyed... who knows.
Ah, ok, no GWP any longer. Well, then I can also order later, once there are other GWPs available. I'd taken it, but I can also live without it :)
Ordered. No VIP GWP in the confirmation e-mail. So just called to cancel the order. Lego is a joke!
If the gwp was a nice Lego/Porsche keyring it's absence might be a shame, but for a few pictures, who really cares?
I wonder if the supply issue to North America is due to the third party company who produced the GWP maybe not having correct import permits or if the GWP doesn't meet manufacturing standards.
It’s the principle really though isn’t it. Lego advertise a promotion for weeks in advance that on 16th Feb it’s available to VIPs with the GWP. The promotion runs from 16-21st Feb, or whilst stocks last. How then, does it sell out on the 15th, the day before it’s due to start?? If they had planned for it to last around 6 days, but possibly less, how does it sell out in around 10 minutes. This is all without the actual Lego set going into back order or selling out.
There has been a massive error somewhere down the line and it’s created disappointment for a lot of fans. This with the poor planning of the VIP coins, I’m beginning to wonder what’s happening upstairs at the Lego offices!
I'm in Europe and I don't see any information about the gwp. Do you get it automatically if you buy?
^ It's finished...

There's a different more likely issue: there's currently a massive global shipping crisis. A glimpse of the issue, which has been going on for months, with no sign things will improve: https://www.freightwaves.com/news/global-supply-chains-choke-under-tsunami-of-freight
Tl;dr
* Ships are stuck at ports for days/weeks waiting to unload. Cargo is then further stuck at the port.
* This results in containers not being where they are needed, preventing goods from being loaded on ships.
* Shipping prices have gone through the roof, quadrupling on many routes.
* Shipping by air is no alternative, as air cargo flights are also overbooked.
The article is focused on the US, but the same is happening on all trade routes, including China-Europe and US-Europe.
As I'm sure a lot of people think..... This is madness. Huw could you get any kind of insight into the numbers of GWP's produced for this promotion. It seems ridiculous that the only way you could get an advertised promotion was if you were in a small part of the world and stayed up all night, happening to see the button appear 1 hour earlier than advertised.... for about 25 mins.. HOW is this good for anyone, fans, Lego, etc. The only people happy about this is anyone selling them on Ebay, to all of the others that wanted one...... Which is the bane of a lot of our lives......
VIP package going for quite a sum on ebay....

In a way they have delivered on that promise by creating exactly that: a highly collectible gift :)
The rarer is it, the more collectible it is, right?
Although in reality, there probably is an optimal number of items for ideal collectibility. If there is only a handful of items, demand and prices are so insane nobody really wants to collect it. If they create 50 million, it's more like a commodity and I wouldn't call that collectible either. Anyone have any thoughts on what 'highly collectible' means to them?

I am still waiting for my blacksmith!!
Was going to order today (as only officially out) but could not see welcome pack.
Glad checked in here to then see why... as that part is sold out.
So will save /wait on this till now comes down in price :(
Come on Lego, did you really not expect folk to want to order _with_ the pack??? Mad.
I really want this to come across the right way, but it's hard on text at times. They will make a set number of GWPs, since lockdown, more people have eyes on Lego. I was refreshing my page from 10pm, just in case it went live early, as I wanted the pack and to build this ASAP. If people have learnt nothing from the Batmobile saga? I dont disagree that maybe there wasnt enough, but they dont HAVE to do it
Also, you in the US complaining about now GWP? Boo Hoo. How much have you had the opportunity to get last year that the rest of us haven't? Medical Frigate, anyone? Anything that was a convention exclusive you all had the ability to get, we didn't. If you dont want an item without its GWP, do you really want the item?!
Next you'll complain, wow Ice Rink is still a GWP, guess they cant give them away now, did they make too many?!?!
I just spoke to lego and they said the promotion was cancelled due to stock issues. Hence it removed from website.
They did give me free vip points to make up for the mistake.

Ditto - order went through at 00.01 but didn't mention the pack - assumed this would be arriving anyway as the order was placed as a VIP but guess this may not be the case. Why do they say available on 16th but actually make it available late on the 15th... The same thing (sort of) happened with the Mustang - I missed out on the keyring and got a strange semi-patronising message from Lego when I queried it...
It seems that items go on sale across Europe at midnight central European time, so 11pm UK time.
It happened for the blacksmith, and again for this.
Not cool, not cool at all lego. I collect P-brand stuff and lego and was really looking forward to the extra GWP... it was one of the reasons I would have gotten this early. Now I’ll just have to wait for some promo-campaign somewhere.
Finally a GWP that does not go to the US. All those people last year saying that it was unfair - you’re welcome. :)

UPDATE - manage to get through after 15 minutes wait...the lady i spoke to who said it is out of stock and not mention anything about cancellation.
@Huw It would be really interesting if Brickset could get an interview with a Lego marketing/supply person, to cast some light on why so many new products are sold out almost immediately - sometimes even by the official release time. Also what on earth is going on with GWPs? I have failed to get some GWPs due to there being no stock of any set that I want (Ice Rink, for example). At other times the GWP "sold out" immediately, meaning very few people were able to obtain it, and feeding and benefitting only the scalpers.

I'm certainly a collector at times, but I really do hate it when they introduce incredibly rare items for a collection, and it can even change my attitude towards a collection. For example, I used to really enjoy collecting all of the LEGO Collectable Minifigures series, but when they introduced Mr. Gold, I stopped. I knew it was highly unlikely that I would ever obtain this one figure, and I definitely wasn't going to spend hundreds on ebay for it, thus I now have an incomplete collection that would never be completed. As a result I stopped, and actually got rid of my whole minifigure collection up to that point.
Introduce an incredibly rare item to a collection and you lose me as a customer.
As for the Porsche GWP, I didn't really care for the GWP and so didn't buy the Porsche. I will eventually buy the Porsche as it looks amazing, I'm just not in a rush or maybe there will be better offers. But still annoying for those that did want the GWP (currently on ebay for ~£100+).
I've been thinking that for a while now, as many sets have become available at 11pm in the UK for many years (the earliest I can recall is the Saturn V). And makes sense too, as Demark is in CEST (GMT+1).
However, I have also sometimes noticed that GWP's and/or 2x points offers don't become available until midnight, despite a brand new item having been available for an hour. Obviously not the case last night though.
I’ve got a GWP Welcome Pack on its way. Bought one off eBay :-(

Do you need an interview for that? Look outside.
What gets to me about this situation is that it doesn't 'reward' anything other being quick on your computer.
Even if TLG only produced (hypothetically) 500 units, it would be much fairer to distribute these randomly and without prior notice, almost like a lottery.
I think lego needs to get its act together they as a company are upsetting a lot of their fan base with short supplies of GWP and sets. I know there are issues based on Covid but this can't at this stage be blamed for some of the issues happening. I went on line at 12.15 (GMT) the gift was there but wouldn't add to my basket so I gave up. I log on this morning to see if the issue had been sorted and the GWP was gone like what most people have found. I have had an issue with an order placed on the 10th of December 2020 where for some reason part of it was recalled while in transit. After a few emails the package came minus the Ice Rink again more emails to be told that they had none in stock but issued VIP points instead. As I explained to them as a collector it the set I want not the points equivalent. Yesterday not more the 4 days after been told the set is not back. Sorry for ranting on but what rattles me is that I looked on ebay yesterday evening and there is people selling the set 10295 complete with the GWP how I ask.
The problem is that LEGO has become a victim of its own success and attracted the same “entrepreneurs“ that plague other brands who are there for the quick buck driving up prices and snaffling up exclusives. TLG need to recognise this and if they are interested in their fans increase production of these exclusives so that there is less of a secondary market that drives such scalping behaviour
Ordered the set around half past midnight CET. The order on Lego.com didn't show the VIP pack - and to be honest I had no idea that it was offered.
Then I got an email with the title "Important message about your LEGO order" and thought uh-oh. The mail told me that an article I ordered was out of stock, and was put on backorder with a delivery within 60 days". That concerned the VIP package.
Half an hour later I got my order conformation by e-mail - showing the VIP pack.
No idea what's going to happen. Don't care to much though, as I didn't even know it was on offer...
I can however image if you really wanted that pack and it's gone within an hour, that that really sucks.
edit: the order at lego.com shows the VIP pack as "in warehouse".
Hey, great news. The superb, eagerly awaited Lego Porsche is still in stock! (Apparently some grotty postcards aren't)
I just don’t want to talk about it.
I can’t..........I’ll explode!!
There is something of a 'goodwill' own goal about the marketing of this particular set. I say this because I know of three, normally non-lego buying, people (basically, classic car nuts) who were overjoyed at both the model and the classic promotional looking material that would be included with it (the GWP). I think the situation yesterday evening perhaps left a worser taste in their mouths than the Lego 'collector's'. I suppose it remains to be seen whether the outcome will leave a shadow hanging over the release, long term. I know that the Lego apologists will be quick to downplay the disappointment and frustration of others. But it seems such an unnecessary way for Lego to draw attention to itself. Are they naive, or have they just dropped the ball? To the uninitiated, yesterday evening played out like a classic bait and switch.

I couldnt have said it better myself! To me that is a perfect analogy of the situation. I'm currently restoring a 40 year old Porsche 924 (its all i can afford) and when i saw the Porsche Welcome Pack with the official Porsche logo i couldnt wait to add it to my car memorabilia collection. I'm a Lego collector and also a Porsche car enthusiast so it was a no brainer. So at 00.01 on the 16/02 (apparently the start of the promotion as shown in my Lego emails) i added the Porsche to my basket, proceded with payment and went to bed. This morning i checked my invoice and no mention of a Porsche Welcome Pack. I now understand the activation of the promotion date/time relates to GMT+1. Lego could have shown a Porsche Welcome Pack 'out of stock' disclaimer during checkout, simply noted GMT+1hour in their promotional emails or limited the promotion to 1 item per VIP. In the motor industry they call it 'ghosting'. Traders may entice you in via promotions etc for a car or part that isnt availaible (or is in small quantities). I feel Lego may have done the same.
I would have really liked to get this GWP. Actually it would have been the only thing to entice me to buy the set on day one for full RRP.
The ridiculous way this situation was handled just confirms me in that I simply be patient and buy the set sometime later during the year when it becomes available at other retailers at a nice discount. Money saved, trouble spared.
The Porsche has arrived, very nice item, I am satisfied. However, the GWP is somehow disappointing, a few cards and a 'plastic' card purse ... Still very bizarre that Lego didn't produce more of these GWP sets, this even seems like something they should give with every Lego Shop Porsche purchase. Oh and the "art cards" are being cut up by my 10-year-old son for a craft project, as we speak .... no, just kidding.

I did the same, it said I would be recieving the welcome pack but not in my basket! LEGO better not have kept the promo going if it went out of stock otherwise I'm going to be very dissapointed and go straight to customer service!!!
Just had my 'It's been shipped' email and both items showing on email. But, my order was very early one
I checked out. with the GWP in my basket. It also showed on my Paypal receipt. It wasn't on my Lego order confirmation. I've just had shipping notification and it isnt on that either. Who knows what will arrive ?
Today the Porsche arrived, but not the GWP. It was on the list at checkout however, so I will contact Lego about it.
I think it’s fair to assume from most of the comments above that the promotion was yet another farce in a long history of LEGO VIP farces

Mines out for delivery tomorrow.
I completely missed the GWP not being included in the US or I would never have jumped to purchase it. Thanks again for nothing Lego! I am sick of getting boxes sent to me beat up as well. It is ridiculous.
EDIT: Yep no GWP in my order. The website was plastered with 'get a free GWP' at the time I was buying so I'm just gonna go to customer service and ask as nicely as possible to see what they can do. I'll even accept VIP points as compensation lol very happy my order came in 3 days even with Brexit.
EDIT 2: They gave me 800 VIP points for free so I'll take it lol. Better than nothing! It wasn't as it it was LEGO pieces so I'm not that upset haha

Thankfully it doesn't seem to have slowed it down, whatever the error was.... arriving today.
My web page and Paypal confirmation said I would get the GWP. The Lego Order confirmation didn't include it though. The parcel arrived today without the GWP. I spoke to Lego and they are sending me an Ice rink instead. Which is......Ok, I guess.

I'd already upped mine to include a free ice rink, mine arrived today with no promo and a dented Porsche.
I ordered around 00.05 Danish time, and it included the GWP pack according to the order confirmation. It took around 30 minutes for the confirmation toarrive by email.
Looks like the package will arrive on Monday.
However there are already lots of GWP’s for sale on eBay, how can that be?
Got my delivery today.
Sadly, no GWP....
There's not even a fine print on the email saying "while stocks last" etc.
Very misleading indeed, felt like I've been tricked into spending that £120 premium full price, this is how LEGO treats their VIPs (only that "I" stands for Idiots in their books)
