Porsche 911 revealed!
Posted by Huw,
The latest in the Creator Expert vehicle range has been just been revealed. Here's the press release:
10295 Porsche 911, 18+, 1458 pieces
$149.99 / €129.99 / £119.99 / AU$229.99 / CA$199.99
Available at LEGO.com from 16th February to VIPs, 1st March everyone else.
The LEGO Group has taken the covers off a new LEGO version of one of the most coveted nameplates in automotive history, with the unveiling of the two-in-one LEGO Porsche 911 Turbo and 911 Targa set that brings together two icons from the 1970s and 80s.
LEGO builders and classic car enthusiasts alike will love the dual building routes of this set. The new two-in-one LEGO Porsche 911 Turbo and 911 Targa set can be built either as the fixed roof 911 Turbo model or as the open-roofed 911 Targa at one time, allowing fans to choose between classic coupe or convertible style.
Channelling the essence of the ubiquitous German sports car, the LEGO Porsche 911 Turbo and 911 Targa variants feature all the hallmarks of their namesakes, from the aerodynamic shoulder line to angled headlamps and sculpted bonnet with Porsche badge and rear-mounted flat six ‘boxer’ engine.
Beneath their elegant silhouettes, the LEGO Porsche 911 Turbo and 911 Targa variants hide a wealth of detail. On both versions of the model, the 2+2 sports seats and dashboard are finished in dark orange and nougat, an eclectic colour scheme based on contemporary upholstery options from the Porsche 911. Further interior details include a handbrake, gearshift and functional steering, while the front seats also tilt forward for access to the rear bench seats.
Several features which are unique to the 911 Turbo and 911 Targa variants of the set ensure they are equally characterful but distinct when built. The LEGO Porsche 911 Turbo sports distinctive Turbo badging, a wide rear axle, turbocharger and intercooler, denoting its blistering performance credentials. Its athletic look is completed with an integrated rear spoiler.
Meanwhile, the LEGO Porsche 911 Targa’s roof is fully removable and can be stowed underneath the hood of the car. The iconic Targa Bar completes the look, along with Targa badging and a brick-built wraparound rear window.
Mike Psiaki, Design Master at the LEGO Group, commented: “Taking ownership of a brand-new sports car is an experience to savour and this is a feeling we wanted to recreate for LEGO fans.
“As we were designing the car, the hardest decision to make was whether we would make the Turbo or Targa variant of the car. It was such a tough call that we engineered the ability to build the LEGO Porsche 911 Turbo and Targa from a single set. Without doubt, fans of the 911 all over the world who have long admired these cars will love the opportunity to build both versions!”
Fabian Schmölz, Exterior Designer at Porsche, said: “We know that the Porsche 911 evokes a certain magic for customers and fans of our brand worldwide, and the latest LEGO additions to the 911 family - the LEGO Porsche 911 Turbo and 911 Targa - are no different.
“These incarnations of our sportscar icon, accurately capture the unmistakeable design of the cars they are based on, and are set to bring much enjoyment to a new family of fans.”
To celebrate the launch of the LEGO Porsche 911 Turbo and 911 Targa, LEGO is also offering the first buyers the chance to receive a limited-edition LEGO Porsche owners pack with their purchase (below). The pack contains a certificate of ownership, an official LEGO Porsche card wallet and a set of four unique art prints based on contemporary Porsche 911 adverts, all presented in a smart collector’s wallet. This highly collectible gift with purchase is available in limited numbers for orders of the set placed through the LEGO VIP loyalty program.
There are a lot more images on the set details page. Furthermore, the designer video reveals that this set contains no stickers!

This is going to be an expensive year....
I hope that the next Creator Expert car will be Jaguar E-Type
I, too, sort my Lego pieces by dumping them into bowls and then not sorting them.
What a beaut. I don't have a personal connection to Porsche, or the 911 specifically, but as a Creator vehicle collector this is a day one buy for me. The price is a little higher than I'd like but I appreciate the 2-in-1 aspect, even if the Targa version is a bit unsightly to my eyes. The Turbo looks great. Not particularly interested in the VIP gift...I'd much rather have a mini model of the 911 or some such. But as a freebee I can't really complain.
edit: What's up with the (4) 2 x 4 trans brick as the Targa rear windshield? Seems odd.
edit 2: Nary a sticker to be seen, which is nice.

I feel like I've been saying that for the last 8 years...
This is a Day One Purchase for me.
Lego sure likes their Porsches!
Targa all the way for me!
I wasn’t sure about this “rumoured set” at first, but with the official pictures and release it looks excellent. Perhaps one of the better Creator expert cars in recent years.
It’s not too expensive. It’s 8.2p a brick. It’s good value.
Just outta my collecting theme
So right after they drop the Creator Expert branding, they finally decide to introduce alternate models?
Dang... I think I need another Porsche... Not that I already have two.... Though one is already white.
I had prefered Yellow. Getting Ruf vibes again. :)
I like the feature to make 2 different types, reminds me of that one Lamborghini from around 2009 that could either be built in yellow or red.
Very daring to pick such a curvy car to recreate, but given the scale and limitations in official lego sets, this looks properly good. I may have to splurge for this one down the road. Not a day one but definitely one to look for later in the year!
So, I give them a lot of credit - it looks like a fantastic replica of a Porsche. I'm probably in the minority - but I don't like Porches at all, so this is one set I can skip without regrets.
So what is it? Psiaki or Psiake?
It's a commendable effort that, in my mind at least, primarily passes due to the new pieces used for the rear quarter panels. The Turbo's whale tail is done quite well. Its hard to speak as kindly about the Targa.
As far as an E type Jag goes, I'm actually in the opposite camp to most and hope that TLG learned important lessons from the Aston Martin and steer TOTALLY clear of vehicles where complex, iconic, near organic curves give the models their indisputable character...
It's nice but I wish it wasn't white. There is so much inconsistency in white parts these days that it'll probably end up looking like a horrible patchwork of white & off-white.
Man, I'm all Porsche'd out with at least three speed champions 911 cars and two large scale technic 911 models.
It looks like they know this, and they're trying to make this effort stand out with the convertable rebuild, but they've done a thorough job making a 911 not feel special.
Edit: I drastically underestimated the number of 911's of one flavour or another in the SC line.
This looks incredible! It’s a shame that I already have Arvo Brother’s Porsche targa, in the same color! I guess I’ll have to wait to see the review to figure out which one I like better. In the mean time, I’m also hoping for a Jaguar E (or D) type down the line...
What an excellent surprise (for me) wasn't even aware it was coming. It does look great, and a 2 in one is always nice if you fancy a change later on. Might have to try to find my F-40. Lego if you are listening, I know its old but how about a 959 to show both the evolution of the 911 and the rivalry with Ferrari from the 2000's
Pretty happy with this one has a nice clean look. I like that there doing a 2 in 1 function with it too

Psiaki.
10252 numberplate: P51AK1
10265 numberplate: P51AK2
10295 numberplate: P51AK3
Why on earth is a set like Ninjago City Gardens €300 in all of Europe and why is there a difference for this set of €20 between The Netherlands and Germany? That is inexusable
This just isn’t clicking for me. I’m not sure if it is the car design or the lego-ification of it, but it looks technically well made but not artful if that makes sense.
Beautiful, might be my first LEGO large scale cars I buy, this looks amazing. Probably the best of these cars imo.
Wauw! How well designed is this Porsche? Must be one of the best car replicas ever made by Lego!
Those curves ...
It does look better than in the leaks. Would that corner tail piece have been designed for this car specifically? Surely there will be plenty of uses for it, but it feels a bit like cheeting, a bit too specialised. That's the are where I feel it has most improved on the Arvo Brothers version.
Not my cup of tea, something about it just looks off, and like others have mentioned, white isn’t the best color because of color inconsistencies. Ford Mustang is still the one to beat IMO
This is exactly what the "Technic" cars should have been. Not non Technic models built with Technic parts.
Set to buy as an investment, nice box. if it was a Lambo or Ferrari
I think the car looks great. Like the detail and color. I like how the licence plate on the set reflects the last name of the designer.
It's a testament to the quality of the smaller speed champions sets that when I saw the thumbnail I initially assumed that they were releasing another stand-alone 911, but in white rather than lime green. At scale, this is certainly an impressive addition to the Creator Expert car line!
I’m on the fence. Will it be the same scale as the Mustang? I would like to see a photo of the 2 together before deciding. Are the VW Bug, VW Camper Van, Mustang all built to the same scale ? Seems like the various photos of these vehicles together they are all slightly different scales but I don’t know why Lego would do that.
I don't like the wheels on the turbo (mostly the rims), and in some ways I think the targa looks more interesting. Also, white is not necessarily my preferred color, though it offers some contrast to the previously released cars (well, not the Ecto 1 if you count it in).
But sure am I going to buy this one!

Volkswagen Camper, Mini, Ferrari F40 and Ford Mustang are the best ones up to now - I own the Ferrari and the Mustang and they're fantastic. Since then I feel the quality has dipped - the Aston was a HUGE disappointment as is the Beetle as well as the Fiat 500. I'm praying this won't look awkward like the Aston Martin but judging by the pics the proportions look better than Aston's

You're thinking of set 75985, which is a re-release of the lime green Speed Champions 911 in white.
Love this set will get eventually, but still waiting the for the ModelT and Model A
Love the design, but white is not interesting at all. I love sports cars for the unique "Fun" colors they often sport. Will have to see the parts inventory to see what other color choices can be had. Impressive though, like others have said to get the curves looking nice and not too blocky. :)

Based on what I can see, the rear quarter panel parts are new for this set. That rear droop on the 911 is very hard to capture in Lego. Looks like Lego solved the problem the easy way.

Or even the XK-140!
930 Turbo and Targa?
I might have to get this.
This looks incredible. But I also am not loving white. Maybe that is an iconic color for the car? I don't follow Porsche, so I wouldn't know. But the shaping here looks great. I've collected almost all of the other "creator expert" vehicles, so I likely will get this one eventually.
Boom. Impressive, isn't it? I am not the type of person to become a fan of someone. But with Mike Psiaki I cannot help it. My deepest respect for his skills.
A really nice looking day 1 purchase for me although, like others, I would have preferred it to be anything other than white. Not so much for the colour matching inconsistencies, but for what colour it may become after a couple of years of being aloud to inadvertently catch the odd ray of sunlight!
The first time I hit 120mph was in my uncle’s 911 turbo - I was 18. His is white as well and the only thing not original was a radar detector. I’m buying this for the nostalgia on day 1.

I think it needs some regular waxing :-)
I'm leaning towards getting this day 1 with those extras thrown in, and while I generally like it - the hood really stands out to me as looking a little off compared to the rest of the car.
Still waiting for the Citroën DS...
After looking at the Targa, I think that one looks pretty good actually. The Turbo just doesn't do it for me. Maybe it's the rear window, the sides windows and mostly the fenders. And the wheels. Nice that we get them in black anyway.
Oh god my wallet will hate me after 2021!
Very nice; this is a buy. Would have liked bright yellow instead, but not going to be picky.
Would also be nice to have a VIP Porsche keychain like the Mustang one.

Yeah, I have to agree with you @Wrecknbuild. That piece feels far too specialized, not unlike some other pieces in recent years. Personally, I would better appreciate a good attempt at the shape with existing pieces - maybe a couple offset 1x10 slopes and a 2x2 quarter circle tile.
Looks like the seats use 1x3 tiles in Dark Orange. I’ve been hoping for that part for a while.
It looks like they are going for a mid - late 1970s era which is very early for the turbo; I prefer the retro look of the targa - the proportions look better and the rear screen looks better realised and the excellent seats are more visible too...
This looks so cool! Definitely a must buy for me
It looks fantastic. I wasn't expecting it to be revealed so soon, but I'm not complaining! I think it will go well with my Ferrari F40 and Ford Mustang.

I got the same feeling. While the MINI Cooper had issues, it captured the essence of that car better than this objectively-superior set does its source material. Not hating, just my two cents.
So who is going to buy two in order to display both at once?
Another Porsche 911??? At least this one isn’t technic but it’s still phoning it in a little. Good looking set, not to keen on the white though... it’s a different color to the other creator expert cars so that’s a plus in my book. I just sold my 42056 , maybe I’ll pick this up in time.
Beautiful design...
But why WHIIIIIIIIIIIIITE????
I hate white cars in real life and LEGO. Exception being Ecto-1 of course. Oh and I hate white pants too, in case anyone was curious. :D
It's a nice model but there's been so many Lego Car sets I'd have to rank this way down my favourites list! Because the Lime Lamborghini and The Bugatti veyron were nice so was the orange porsche Racer type from 3 years ago and The UCS batmobile, Ecto 1 and DB9 were iconic lego sets..
Not crazy about this version of the 911 after so many Technic and speed champion models, maybe the rear wheel arches on the 911 look too large and Lego white yellows. The creator styling reminds me of the Austin Martin 10262 as probably the same designer. I would prefer something different like a Jaguar or Mercedes!
There's a nice red version in the background in the designer video. Let's see how long it will take to get that specially designed curved slope for the shape at the back appears in other colours.
https://youtu.be/_eHWmLu7Td8
I think it’s great. Looks really smart. Thought it may have been something different having had porches in technic and a very similar version in speed champions, however I think the designer has done a top job and it looks great. Day 1 purchase for me.
From the photo on the front page, I was sure it's a new "Speed Champions" set :)

I love every Mike Psiaki designed set I've built and cannot wait to get my hands on two of these Porsches. If you haven't already, check out his designer Bricklist.
Dunno, it looks different enough of the real car from every angle to be weird. You look at it and it shouts "nearly". I will need to see it live before deciding whether to buy one. Plus those gaps look horiible in white.
https://images.brickset.com/sets/AdditionalImages/10295-1/10295_alt14.jpg
Day one buy, easy! Anything from Mike, honestly, but this one really rings the bell!
Am I the only one to whom it looks completely bland?
At first I thought "why do they do a reveal of a set that's already available? ", mistaking the small preview image for the Speed Champions one in the same colour. I agree, with TLG's terrible colour consistency at the moment, the thought of a Creator Expert vehicle in this colour is a bit disconcerting. For example I liked the design of the Fiat 500, but the fifty shades of bright light yellow made me put it away in a box instead of on display. Its place is now occupied by the Ferrari from Magnum P. I. by BlueBrixx, which goes very well with the LEGO F40 next to it.
I am certain I will buy the 911 one day, but only at a discount. I don't like the price hikes of recent years at all. Anyone remember the RRP of the Mini, the F40, the Beetle or even the Campervan. All below 100 Euro. And it's not is if the last decade had seen much in terms of inflation.
@drewtstew said:
"I, too, sort my Lego pieces by dumping them into bowls and then not sorting them. "
Really? I just use a big plastic box :D
It's almost amazing. It is immediately recognisable and definitely ressembles the 911 (unlike the Fiat 500) but it lacks a little of the bulbous-ness and curves of the real vehicle - it's a little too rectangular IMO. The front windscreen is also not curved. I know, I know it's lego which does not lend itself to curves. It's pretty good though.

The prices have gone up a bit. I am also not so happy with the colour inconsistency on the Fiat. But the price for that one was pretty okay. Now I just checked the Dutch price, thinking that in Germany it would be 20 euro cheaper than the abovementioned € 129.99. But it's much worse! In the Netherlands it is a whopping € 149.99 !!! Come on, Lego, please correct this! I was considering buying it with a GWP early on, but now I am definitely not thinking of buying it anytime soon.
It's absurd that in certain countries, people pay a premium at Lego online.
Of course there will be good offers after some time, so alas, no GWP then...
Richard Hammond is gonna be so happy.

If that was a 930 then it would have been a scary ride! Hopefully something a bit more modern - 996 or beyond!
Oooh good, another car from a brand I hate :P
A good model of a boring car.
What a set....
Yeah. It’s not bad, but not great either.
Wow! I think they nailed this so much. I see a handful of new parts that are critical to the design of this model, but that unfortunately rules out the chance to do a full recolour of this to something other than white. I'd love to build mine into something akin to what's in the video below; wide body, naturally aspirated, no rear spoiler. Nice and pure!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ogsV9LbDgOM&ab_channel=Carfection
Cool! But can you build a Targa with a whaletail? That would be the ultimate 80ies!
Very cool! Might get it, depending of how expensive it will cost here where I live.
Too bad it seems almost impossible to see a Japanese car among the large scale ones.

Only those other sets come with a choice of several realistic, normal number plates where you could sneak in an Easter egg.
The Aston Martin and ECTO-1 have the plates from their respective films (plus "JB-007" on the Aston), the F40 just has one that says "F40", and the Fat Boy also just a single one with the rather cryptic "41".
This is a great design, and I'll likely get one even though I have some 911 models presently. No heartburn here about the new "cheater" element, but I'll have to agree with many others in being disappointed with the white. How awesome would it have been consider it a Singer Porsche and make it in Sand Blue?!
I'd like to see Lego move on from so many Porsches and Ferraris. I'd love to see a Japanese Creator Expert car, like a 2000GT, Farilady Z/240Z (in lime green!), or 300ZX Z32.
Another box with windows and a wheel in each corner; could it be... yet another car?
Maybe they could release something else in the Creator Expert theme, like construction equipment, or aircraft, or more spacecraft, or something science-y.
It feels like they release a lot of cars every year, but I guess they know what sells: boxes with windows and a wheel in each corner.
Looks neat, but what are those trans-clear half tubes for?
I really want to like this but boy is it ugly. :(
As usual Mike has done a spectacular job, I like a lot of recent sets but it's been a while since I've been this excited for one. I'm not keen for an E-Type though, I was hoping for a brick built Landrover, ideally a series model, perhaps a IIA?
As a New Yorker, I'm horrified they used the default NY yellow license plate because it's ugly.
Does anyone else know what the meanings of the German "S-CU 6000" plate or the Japanese plate?
I think it has some great details but I know it costs a lot to fabricate a new windshield that'll have limited use and the new fabricated elements will be used for other things especially for star wars vehicles.
This was the issue with the Fiat. So this I feel is where you utilize stickers to indicate, give an illusion of a curved windscreen. Curved top to corner graphic elements that match the color of the vehicle. I'm not big on stickers but this is where it would really help with the illusion of shaping.
And if they could've fabricated a new element to slope those headlights down just slightly.
YES!!! Finally a Creator Expert Porsche! Reminds me of Need for Speed 5.
I think the new moulds are great - not sure I would call it a "cheat" piece, but it is something that has been sorely needed for negotiating long curves. That long curving piece has tons of great applications for not only other car designs but also spaceships, boats, planes, mech armor, floral and botanical designs, etc. Pretty exciting. The overall design is very satisfying actually. The rear tail is about two to three plates too high, and while it has design compromises here and there, I think they really accomplished a great model given the building system restrictions that are imposed on the designers. Day one purchase for me!
@LegoSonicBoy said:

They did it with the Mustang, I think it's just more based on the designer and their vision and if it's practical.

I know you’re joking, but this is TOTALLY how I build sets. So inefficient, but I find the searching relaxing. lol
A perfect addition to the Creator Expert vehicle line. I'll buy on day-1 if I can snag one of those VIP limited goodie boxes, otherwise will wait out for a good GWP.
Would have preferred a BMW M1 or M3 as there's been so many other Lego Porsches in recent years but I'm still happy to get a German sports car to display next to my F40, Mustang and Caterham. Looks like this set will be a good parts pack too, new curved slopes for the tail, Mustang wheels in both black and silver and I don't think I've seen the Turbo wheelarches before?
Hopefully they finally give us something Japanese next time, would love to see an early Nissan Skyline or Honda NSX.

The “S” will probably be for Stuttgart, the German city that Porsche comes from (and where you may visit the Porsche museum – recommended).
Love this model. I enjoy the large scale creator models so much, they eventually will replace my (small) collection of diecast models.
Also love that they picked that era in the Porsche timeline. Will have to buy two at least, need at least one more in black...
I do share the worry about color inconsistency. Hope Lego has put in work to fix this glaring problem, along with the quality of windows.
The no stickers situation on the other hand is greatly appreciated. I’ve been very critical of the Aston Martin, but this is a lovely addition to the collection! Thanks Lego and Mike!

Now, I've been staring at the photos a little longer with this nagging feeling that something is not quite right in the front. It's the hood! (or rather, given this is a Porsche, the trunk :) It's just too straight and probably also a little too steep to properly match the real car, which has a largely 'straight' hood, but it still doesn't quite work. And I really, really don't like these black wheels.
Still, I'm going to buy it, I know :)
Great models! And thanks for printing all the parts. Day 1!
A couple of small gripes:
- Fuchs rim edge ought to be silver.
- how about some instructions to make a rear spoiler for the Targa model?
Otherwise, congrats to Psiaki on another outstanding expert car.
I'm super excited for this one.

Yeah, I mentioned the hood yesterday. It just looks so out of place compared to the rest of the car. I find it odd they chose to go with those long slopes like that without trying to add any curvature to it.
I'm not sure it's a deal breaker for me though.

The designer is Psiaki. It's his third Creator Expert car so licence plate is Psiak3. Ford Mustang was his second and Aston Martin DB5 first (but this one had tables from the movie).
This is actually Mike's sixth Creator Expert vehicle:
10248 Ferrari F40
10252 Volkswagen Beetle
10262 James Bond Aston Martin DB5
10265 Ford Mustang
10269 Harley-Davidson Fat Boy
10295 Porsche 911
He also designed 10274 Ghostbusters ECTO-1, if you consider that among them. His complete BrickList is available here: https://brickset.com/sets/list-9961
Question from someone who's not a 911 expert: do the large, wrap-around front turn signals indicate that this is a US-spec 911?

German number plates are made up like this:
Region/Town of registry
one or two random or vanity letters
one up to four digits
The maximum number of characters allowed is eight, so not every desired combination is possible. Also certain combinations are illegal, such as SS, KZ, etc.
Popular vanity plates are made up of one's initials and birthday, for example if you are from Frankfurt am Main, your name is Andreas Schmitt, and your birthday is on April 16, you could try to register the following license plate:
F AS 1604

Exactly Psiaki did more than three Creator Expert cars but in three of them he referred to his surname at licence plates; 10252 (P51 AK1), 10265 (P51 AK2), 10295 (P51 AK3)

The large turn signal lenses were the hallmark of the G body which incorporated "impact bumpers" for the first time. Those were not specific to the US, although I do believe the US version of the bumper is oh so slightly longer. Prior to that the "long hood" F body 911 had a slim bumper with no lenses which you can see in some of their white prototypes in the builder video. (The lenses were above the bumper trim line).
Looks solid! One minor thing I noticed in the video: blur parts behind the wheels that are visible while steering the car.. but these could easily be swapped out, I guess.
@yesplease: Thanks for your reply! However, if I look up pictures of G body 911’s, some have the larger turn signals like the Lego model but others have smaller indicators that only face forward. The latter looks more familiar to me (Dutch) so I guessed the wider turn signals might be US spec ones, possibly housing side markers?
This is probably the best looking Creator vehicle ever made by Lego.

That seems like a very reasonable deduction. So often the rules for that stuff is inconsistent. I've seen both types here in the U.S. It's very confusing :)

Thanks for the details!

" The “S” will probably be for Stuttgart, the German city that Porsche comes from (and where you may visit the Porsche museum – recommended)."
Oh, I see. That makes sense.
Porsche 911 Turbo & Targa are 2 of my favorite cars but 3 years in a row!!!
Hey look, it's not the first time Mike Psiaki has designed this car! :)

That is one small part for Lego, one giant step in the way of Playmobile...
Regarding the set itself: it's brilliant, I love it; Mike Psiaki did a wonderful job — and I hope he reads this comment so that he knows I appreciate all his work of genius!
Regarding the marketing aspect: once again, there is a €20 price difference with Germany! How can this be justified? The opening of a shop in Brussels? The presence of the distribution center for packages? It's appalling! Once again I'll have to wait till I can go buy it in Germany or a discount, which means no GWP indeed… This is frustrating!

"Lego sure likes their Porsches!"
LEGO sure likes its licensing deals! $$$$$$$$
Too expensive. Cheap move for lego, even though it looks cool
I hope I can figure out how to modify the rear end to make a Carrera, sans spoiler. The Carrera was always more appealing to me than the Turbo or Targa.
It is so funny.... People say " This is a turbo version with much more power" LOL.
I still waiting for TLG version of a ventilator with much more GPM.
Interesting to compare this with "Roadster Supercar" from moc_brickstore on ebay!
