Joker face next for the DC line?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

The octopus mech probably has the best arms we've seen so far, which is great. But am I the only one wondering whatever happened to leg printing? It's not something I've only just noticed, but the fact it's an ongoing "issue" (I appreciate not for everyone) is a little disappointing.

By in United States,

Is that the new Spiderman torso, but this time with dual moulded legs? Nice!

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Although I do really like the mech set, I feel like they’re starting to run out of original ideas and designs at this point. Both mechs don’t feel unique at all, I’m pretty sure almost every bit of design is taken from another mech in the line except the obligatory extra arms on the one. Such a shame, there’s definitely so many more options and techniques that haven’t been used yet!

76187 Venom head listed & branded under DC at Lego.com. Oops!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I’ve never seen the venom movie, and don’t really care to as of now.
But out of all the 2021 heads/bust this one and the scout trooper are the best.
Vader and Carnage are kind of good, and Batman is ok.
But Venom and the Scout look perfect.

That Venom head may necessitate starting a new list “top five Lego sets that scare kids”. :-p

Haha I just saw that too. I have 3 theories about why this is:

1. 99.9% chance it’s a mistake

2. Some vicious prankster who works at LEGO pulled a devastating April Fool’s joke

3. Marvel x DC crossover?! Is Venom 2 really the sequel to the Snyder Cut??? Is Michael Keaton (who plays Batman AND Vulture) the key to all of this????

The Venom bust is the best one so far among all of them: Marvel, DC or SW. It captures the spirit of the character perfectly. But LEGO busts aren’t my thing and my money will be going towards 76188 Classic Batmobile.

Any indication of release dates?

Are mech sets LITERALLY the only thing that sells in the superhero line anymore? It’s getting a little ridiculous with how many of these there are.

Oh good, yet more mechs...

I’m guessing they’re very popular with the main demographic, i.e. boys aged 7 to 12. You get super heroes + LEGO + what is in effect action figures. A triple win. Certainly would have appealed to me at that age.

LEGO.com says April 26 for the Batmobile

I like that they give the pieces to get rid of the stud shooters if you want to display it on the little stand ^^

With a tongue like that you'd expect Venom to floss

Gravatar
By in United States,

Is this our first look at the Venom bust? I really like that one, as well as the OG Batmobile.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

@mr_Fikou As ever, it's not really targeted at the long-time Lego fan; it's for whoever's just ageing into the hobby at that moment. There's always new kids, after all.

The Batman cowl seemed to set a precedent for not portraying human heads/faces, but I wouldn't rule it out. They can always have the Joker's iconic hair and lipstick built onto a trans-black mannequin head.

By in United Kingdom,

That venom bust is genuinely terrifying.

Excellent, though!

@B_Space_Man:
You’d be surprised. Even though I’ve never read the book, seen the miniseries, or watched either movie, I figured out how to make a very accurate movie Pennywise using 100% stock parts. At one show, a guy who does traditional model railroading was not-quite-lecturing me about how he makes sure that his layout is G-rated so it’s okay for kids to view. I told him that a lot of the adults who spot him have no idea what it is, but kids _LOVE_ spotting him on a layout. I don’t think I’ve seen a single pre-teen kid notice the minifig and not know exactly who he is. I’ve also never seen a kid get uncomfortable for having seen him.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I like the venom bust for the most part. The eyes could be a little bigger and more jagged, but that would be easy to modify I’m sure.

Sets that had mechs:
1/4 of 2020's Marvel, 1/3 of 2021 (and none in the Eternals which brings it to 1/4, and none of the other rumors indicate further mechs so that brings it to about 1/10)
0 of 2020 and 2021's DC

Seems like it's just you.

April 1st? :p

By in Romania,

I initially wanted the mechs for the figures, but after the last wave I'm starting to like the mechs for the mechs. I'm posing them in poses from comic books on my shelf.
That said, I'm salty about having spent money on the awful Spider truck for Doc Ock and Mysterio's accessories.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

£35 seems a little bit expensive for the Batmobile.

Gravatar
By in Romania,

I wish they would make a Spider-Slayer Mark 14 mech for Alistair Smythe.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I think the colours on Venom work a lot better than the Carnage set

Gravatar

This one stud in Venom's right eye hurts me so much...

Any else wondering why Venom’s eyes are each built differently?

somebody missed a piece in the build. like when the bear was photoed with the heart upside down.

Well... there was that one time (in the comics) when Joker cut off his own face and wore it like a mask, so it’s not impossible.

P.S. i know what day it is, but i swear on my collection i DID NOT make that up.

Gravatar
By in United States,

My favorite bit is how proud of himself Fred and/or George Weasley seems to be with his Venom head.

I just want Venom's teeth. They cool.

Hm...Doctor Octopus. Thank God we finally get this minifigure in the Spider-Man Universe!!!

£34.99 on lego site. A day one has turned to a wait for discount

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

^ Huw & team have updated the UK price to show it as £35.

I agree that that has gone from a DOP (Day One Purchase) to a wait for discount. 37% more than the US price (yes, excluding VAT) is ridiculous even accounting for economies of scale! That’s not a £35 set. >:~(

REALLY getting "mech fatigue" from the Marvel theme these days. It's becoming pretty lazy and uninspired.

Those seem like really low numbers to be getting fatigued from

@ohrmazd:
No, they’re genuinely built with different parts. The left eye on the right has a 1x1 quarter circle tile in the outer bottom corner. The right eye on the left has a 2x2 macaroni tile instead. Totally different design. That’s not to say they didn’t leave out one or more pieces on the right eye (the spare quarter circle tile would fit nicely inside of that macaroni tile, for instance), but if you could view it from straight on, the outside edge of the eyes would be a different shape.

Hoping that with one of these future Marvel mech releases we get a Peni Parker and the SP//dr mech as part of a set!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I honestly enjoy the Mech sets. Even got the Spider-Man jet just for the Venom mech. For $10 they are fun lil sets. Most of the larger Marvel sets having been that great except for the recent Ghost Rider set which I got. I was hoping for more villians mechs like Vulture, Sentinels, Carnage, Red Skull, ect. I have all but Thor and Miles Spider-Man.

@OldschoolFan74:
A Sentinal in a giant mech suit? So...platform shoes and some oversized boxing gloves?

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

The Venom head is the first of the helmets/busts/heads I actually would like to buy. Put in some lights and creepy sounds: nightmares for my daughter assured. Maybe store it behind a brick built minion or something.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

I like the Venom head.

Gravatar
By in United States,

The venom head looks so good!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Venom looks pretty solid, but I'm torn on if I'll get it. I'm torn on a lot of lego purchases anymore. Would I be happier with yet another set with no space to display it or time to build it, or would I be happier with the money going toward other adult responsibilities?...

The classic Batmobile looks WAY better than the D2C set..which is sad, considering how expensive it was.

And I saw the math and there really aren't that many mechs, but it does FEEL like there are a lot of mechs.
