Architecture Returns! Great looking set, may pick this one up rather than the giant one as the price is so much better!

This looks quite good. Less color than the big one but better shaping

Love this! It’s going to be an expensive summer....

It's still huge! Lol

By in United Kingdom,

Finally! Some new Architecture. Was considering buying the other Creator Taj Mahal 10256 when it was getting close to retirement, but I prefer this Architecture Taj Mahal better. Looks great and a good size. Just in time for my birthday too.

Man this is glorious.

This set is awesome! I’ve got the big Creator Expert one but I’ll have to get this one too. I love how smooth it is, which really makes it stand out from the bigger version.

YEagh, looks much better then the big one with SNOT everywhere

By in United Kingdom,

I think this looks awesome. Absolutely love the architecture line. Definitely onto the wanted list.

Whilst the creative expert ones looks awesome from a display perspective, it’s just too big for me. Sadly just don’t have the room for something like that. However, this one..... well that would fit quite nicely on my bookshelf or desk.

Finally a Taj Mahal I can fit in my tiny college apartment!

By in Germany,

Would have bought this for sure if I didn't have the big Creator one.

So much better than the last one! I really like this, although I'm not sure if I want to buy a replica tomb...

I mean, LEGO has done replicas of tombs before (I'm not sure how many are real burial areas like the Taj Mahal is, though). To echo the sentiment of others, this looks like a great set and a great deal, albeit a bit smaller than I thought it was at first.

No Neuschwanstein castle yet?

Lining up those 1x1s...

By in Canada,

There's a lot of griping about this being the third Taj Mahal kit. I don't own either of the previous ones due to both price and size, but this one is much more palatable in both regards. Will likely be getting it to add to my Architecture collection.

30x30 studs.

Beautiful! Nice to see something substantial in Architecture from a different part of the world.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Finally some Architecture news! I love the theme and hadn't seen anything out yet.

Gravatar
By in New Zealand,

At this scale there's also more potential for creating a display with the surrounding landscaping.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Will definitely get this. Really liked the previous creator versions, but simply didn't have the space. Now, a similar sized Colossium please Lego!

By in Netherlands,

Interesting choice of 30x30 worth of plates instead of a 32x32 baseplate, but then again there's a rumour of baseplates retiring and this could be a sign.

Have Architecture sets ever used baseplates though?

Good point on Architecture, this isn't under the old Creator Expert set which the 2017 set just retired late 2020.

But it's just loose speculation about baseplates going around, with the Classic baseplates being retired (or maybe renewed).

I think the biggest sign would be future Modular buildings instead of this.

It looks alright- It just does nothing me personally.

Awesome! Love the Architecture theme, this is a great addition to the lineup.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

This is getting ridiculous - there are just so many good sets coming in June.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I like how this is the smaller version but still more than 2000 pieces. But wonder why Taj Mahal again while there could be so many other options.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Personally, this is an easy pass for me. Looks less like Lego and more like the common knockoffs on Amazon. Not sure why, just something a bit odd about it. Anyway, with so many pricey sets in 2021 it's not on my list...

"the amount of 1x1 squares I see is beautiful"

I'm getting anxiety at the mere thought of just placing them down.

Gravatar
By in United States,

The set itself looks great. But I really don't like the fact that they seemingly changed the font on the nameplate. They've been using a variant of the Chalet font since the beginning of the line in 2008, but it appears they're using a different, more rounded font here.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Aligning all those 1x1 tiles will be a great feat of endurance.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

The large Taj (see what I did there... ;-) ) never appealed to me, but this does 100%. I've only bought a few Architecture skylines and fewer landmarks, but this looks really nice. Definite purchase for me.
Edited to add: The only thing worrying me is: Oh heavens, those 1x1 tiles...

Gravatar

@gasdoc a 16x32 baseplate was used in Fallingwater

It’s a beautiful building and a great LEGO model, but there are too many wonderful sets that have recently or will soon be released and I can’t afford them all. Sadly, despite its charm, this one won’t be on my shopping list.

something tells me those white and tan floor tiles will be a pain in the ass to align straight

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

So happy we’ve finally got another architecture set on the way!!! Those 1x1s do look like they are going to be a bit of a pain though!

Gravatar

Yummy, 2x2 white lattice window inserts :)

Very easy, so long as the building order is such that a straight edge can be pressed against each row to align, after fitting.

By in Australia,

Love this, looking forward to getting something from the Architecture line finally this year, though it's likely to be at least $200AUD. Loved building the re-release and really looking forward to putting this one together, other the the OCD chringe worthy number of 1x1 tiles on top, that's going to take all the tricks in the book to get lined up the satisfaction. This version may end up talking longer the the larger one to build lol!!

It’s interesting that they would release something like this after just retiring the larger one. I know they do that a lot with Star Wars, but that makes sense as there will always be someone who wants but doesn’t have a Millennium Falcon or TIE or X-Wing. I would think that you wouldn’t be able to say the same for the Taj Mahal, after all, there are so many famous buildings that there really isn’t a need to repeat any. I think it would have made more sense had they waited 5 or 10 years to do this.

That said, I think this set is much better looking than the large one, but it is still massive and a very substantial investment. Personally, I’d rather buy an architecture set for a building I’ve actually been to, so I won’t be buying this, that $120 would be much better spent on a trip to India to see the real deal.

100% this looks like one of those lego knock off ads that I get on Facebook. I’m not sure why everyone else thinks it looks great. I think it’s an easy pass.

By in Italy,

Should I keep my 10256 , which I still have to open, or buy the new one?

The answer is yes.

I TOTALLY agree and love it. Actually I was a bit disappointed in seeing all the attention shifting towards Vidiyo and Friends and Dots, with City sets below par and other stuff I had no interest for.

But then came May's anticipations... YAY!

By in United States,

Has anyone done a study on the average median price of lego sets these days? has to be closer to 100 than it is to 10 :P

I agree: modular building sets will be the tell tale:
I think there has been a rationalisation of the product range: with only regular baseplates being produced now: none of the fancy structured ones from history, or the road plates. just 32x32; 48x48 and maybe 16x32, in a variety of colours.
