Mickey and Friends sets for pre-schoolers officially revealed
Posted by Huw,Here's a press release for the five Mickey and Friends sets that are launched next month:
Today, the LEGO Group revealed a new Mickey and Friends range with Disney, introducing five exciting sets to spark creativity and imaginative play for young children aged 4 and over.
Each set comes with instructions for children who are just learning to read and Starter Brick elements such as a big car or plane chassis to kickstart the building process. The instructions also feature short build-and-play loops to develop confidence and ensure a great building experience that will boost their problem-solving, role-play and concentration skills and encourage resilience while they play.
“I loved Disney Mickey Mouse, Disney Minnie Mouse and all of their friends when I was younger so designing these sets felt very nostalgic. We hope the new LEGO Disney Mickey and Friends range will offer great fun and role-playing opportunities to help young children learn about friendship, communication and resilience with characters they know and love. With these five new sets that explore firefighting, flying, trips to a farm, space exploration and shopkeeping, we aim to inspire young children and introduce them to LEGO building whatever their interests,” says James Stephenson, Senior Designer at the LEGO Group.

I think the rocket big piece is cool.
I hate, that LEGO stole the horse from the Creator Castle set to put it in here!
I don't want to buy a set with Mickey Mouse just to get a horse... and a sheep! :)
Way too juniorized for older segments of the market to love - not much going on in terms of pieces either - but no doubt the actual target audience will go wild for these.
Let's try this again:
brainslug, Brainslug, BRAINSLUG!
(Brainslug, Brainslug...?)
Where are the comments that is going crazy about the sheep figure? :'D
There is an unexpected silence here.
SHEEP!!!!!

I know right? I've been waiting FOREVER for a sheep! It's the last 'basic' farm animal that needed a fig... finally my layout is complete :D
I'll admit, that airplane appeals to me. If it's not too expensive (and it shouldn't be, with only fifty-nine pieces), I'm tempted to get it.
I hope in the future they'll make sets for older kids/adults based on classic animations, like the Steamboat Willie set
It’d be nice if these lead to more “Mickey & Friends” characters getting figures. Oswald and Ortensia, Jose and Panchito...a Pete Bigfig would be nice too.
I'm so glad that the Rock Raiders boulder is still going strong 22 years later
Now that there's a Mickey with aviator goggles, I hope they'll make a corresponding Bugs Bunny in the future wink wink

because it looks godawful?
The sheep looks astounding!
I’m getting Fabuland vibe from the Farm set, especially from the tractor. All look like great sets for young kids
They had me at "Mickey and Friends".
I feel somewhat judged by the inclusion of "for pre-schoolers" in the headline.... I want them too, and I'm... a little bit older than preschool age... ;-)
Don't care that these are 4+ sets, I love Disney so much I will buy any sets that feature different Disney characters. Love the Mickey tile, the Farm looks fab (sheep!), and I NEED Pluto.
I'm glad to see Minnie working right alongside Mickey in the Space and Fire sets as well.
The propeller plane set reminds me of a Fabuland set I had as a kid, so nostalgia points too :-)

Yeah that would be cool, maybe they could make some kind of black and white steamboat.
I want the farm so I can finally get a Donald Duck without buying the super-expensive Disney Castle or paying a fortune on the secondary market. Plus that sheep is awesome.
30€ for a set with only 118 pieces? I am impressed, wow, just wow.

I presume it's meant to be a futile attempt (see comment above mine) at getting potential commenters to exercise a little critical thinking, and not at all meant to exclude those who understand what the sets are about. After all, it says 4+, not 4–7 as has been historical of Juniors sets prior to the phasing out of the age upper bound.
As for how I feel about the sets themselves, I'm not a Mickey superfan, but it is nice to see a return to the Fabuland-esque Mickey & Friends sets that were in my 2000 LEGO catalog. The juniorized nature of the sets seems second nature to me for this reason. I would've been surprised if they had been made for older kids.
Getting that farm set for sure.

You’re getting a brand new sheep (new mould), horse, chicken, rabbit, Donald and Mickey in that set... I think that’s good value.
SHEEP!!! My Winter Village Nativity display just got a little better :)
I'd love to get some of those sheep but I assume they won't be on Bricks & Pieces due to only appearing in a licenced theme. I think that was the case with the white bird initially. Hopefully they will appear in Lego City down the line.
Mickey in all but one of the sets.
A little variety would be nice
It's not a goat, but the new sheep mold is a step in the right direction
I'm waiting it out a bit for the sheep to maybe appear in more, not a huge disney or 4+ fan to get a set like that.
If it won't appear in other sets, so be it.
City has had more animals in sets, and with the 2021 Tractor, wouldn't surprise me if they did more farm sets.
The 2020 Mail Plane had a little bird that only appeared in disney at first as well.

Looks like it will be $10 + whatever state and city taxes are for your location.
I’ve got my eye on the farm set. I’m not into Disney and will be selling the minifigures, but the animal selection is excellent and the rest is OK with some useful parts. The price of £28 isn’t horrible.
No doubt our little man would love these but they are pretty expensive, in my opinion.

Hopefully it isn't exclusive like the goats are, I won't be paying upwards of $10 for those sheep's so I'll likely buy them throught the Extra Brick department along with the other animals.
Interested to show these, especially 10775, to my 5 y/o son. He'd probably dig it. Heck I'll steer him towards it just for the sheep, which shall be ours' and will be named Shaun :)
“Disney Mickey Mouse and Disney Minnie Mouse”...
Wow! Disney is really hammering in the brand recognition with cliche brainwashing tactics.
I see a lot of supersized 4+ elements hitting bricklink in a month or two...

I'm not sure I'd ever heard of the company before now, so this was helfpul for me to get acquainted with these characters!
Very happy to see the sheep here, but I've still got my eyes on the horizon for a proper farm theme
With the Ice Cream Shop & Farm together you've the four core characters plus some cool farm animals but those prices look a bit steep.

The theme is called MICKEY & Friends, so….
(At least the Mickey minifigs are all quite unique!)
Oh, I love the sheep, I'll definitely get some of those if they appear in Bricks and Pieces.
Pluto +1
Sheep +1,000
I can see my kids wanting (gulp) all of these.
Want them all (except the ice cream shop) just for the figures and the sheep
Will probably get the farm set for all the animals (the mouse and the duck look a bit weird though...)
Very excited about the sheep! I'm sure it will be happy to keep my goats company. =)
Any other Disney fans buying for Pluto? Should I feel judged that I’m excited that my last purchase was an 18+ set and now a 4+ set?
I guess i won't wait for any city farm sets (must be soon, i hope, after the hints such as the tractor, the friends forest horse riding centre, and the 10755 itself) Nevertheless an odd choice, to launch a new animal figure on a relatively cheap Disney 4 plus set. Another hint, i presume :-) Must be coming! With GOATS i'll pray!
My son is obsessed with two things at the moment, “4+ Legos” and “Mickey”. This is perfect for him! I really like that Mickey Mouse tile piece, too!
Oh to be 4 years old again!
Why isn't the old Mickey Mouse theme classified as a Disney subtheme in the database, like these new Mickey and Friends sets are?
Let's hope the sheep isn't "licensed" and will be available in other sets. I never really was interested in Mickey, even as a kid. But I may have to buy the sheep set just so I can have one. I wouldn't mind getting Pluto, just to have.
Simple builds for the very short time period before toddlers more onto proper Lego city sets. It will be interesting to see if this market are find classic characters more or less popular than more recent Minions
Note to Huw that the 10776 set page doesn't have a tag for Goofy and this is the first time he has been produced as a minifigure. Perhaps you can add it?
My personal opinion: these are great sets with fun minifigures and play potential for kids. The colors are fantastic. The farm is clearly a winning combination with the animals and I really like the rocket despite the basic build due to it's resemblance of the rockets in Toy Story's Pizza Planet (which I'd definitely buy if one were made.)
However, these prices are absolutely shameful. There are no oversized molds like many juniorized 4+ sets or giant creatures like the Jurassic Park dinos other than the rocket. I get that licensed themes always cost more but this is ridiculous. A new sheep mold that will surely be reused in many more sets to come doesn't justify a triple price increase. Somebody at Lego got greedy. I really like all of these sets but will only get them on deep clearance at Walmart.

The minifig/character tags are added when the sets have been inventoried at BrickLink, so it will be added in due course.
Goofy.
Pluto.
Horse.
Sheep.
That's all you need to know.
It is not the first time Pluto appears in a lego set.
He came in two sets 2000: 4166 and 4167.
