By in Netherlands,

How many Batman cowls could we have?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Is it weird that the 60s Batman cowl we got kinda looks better than the modern Batman cowl we got? I think because it lacks the slightly off-putting mouth guard bit and is clearly supposed to be just the mask Adam West would have worn, eyebrows and all

Gravatar
By in United States,

I really like that Sanctuary II set even thought it might be a little small.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

The meditation chamber looks good, especially with the screen detail!

Gravatar
By in Puerto Rico,

That Meditation Chamber looks awesome! The Sanctuary II looks epic despite being so small, I don't really care about the Batman Cowl though.

Gravatar
By in United States,

This is a nice surprise! All these sets look good, but I think the Vader Chamber's my favorite. I would love if Star Wars kept getting more vignette-esque sets like this.

Gravatar
By in New Zealand,

Holy where’s your face Batman?!

Gravatar
By in Australia,

See, that’s how you do a Batman cowl! Willing to bet that one will outsell the other by miles. Marvel set looks good, but the meditation chamber... oh boy, truly awful.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I like the meditation chamber set, but it also looks a lot like a £20 set placed on a £40 base.

Gravatar
By in Belarus,

Why all StarWars summer set not reveal??

Gravatar
By in France,

Is that Avengers set a 4+ or something? I don't understand the tiny scale of Thanos' ship which is supposed to be enormous, nor the scale of Thanos' figure itself which so far has been a big fig and thus doesn't really fit with the other sets...

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

That Vader Meditation chamber looks awesome- I'm hoping we get more mining scale 18+ sets like this, even though the rumoured Price seems £20 too high...

Also, that plaque looks printed, which is an upgrade on UCS sets in recent years...

Gravatar
By in Finland,

It'd be sweet if the meditation chamber had a different screen panel for the officer getting choked, but that might be a little too violent

Lego, do more small 18+ display scenes, that'd also be great

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Nothing of interest there. That kinda makes me happy, though, as there have been so many good sets just released.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Not all that interested in these, but the Adam West Batman Cowl is definitely an improvement over the last one - may be tempted by the cowl.
The Meditation Chamber made me laugh as I now want to act out the youtube video 'Darth Vader Being a Jerk' :)

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

The first helmet/cowl/mask I'm considering to buy.

It's nice to see them making more sets based on the Batman TV series.
For awhile I thought they were done with it.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

These all look surprisingly good! Okay, the meditation chamber isn’t very special, but it looks good enough for me. The 60s Batman cowl looks amazing, so much better than the weird ‘regular’ one that literally isn’t based on anything lol (It’s true, they just slapped some general batman characteristics onto a base and called it a day). It also looks better than the official minifig mask, but that’s not a big deal. And boy, the sanctuary is amazing! I thought it’d be a $20 set, which got me scared a bit after seeing the Dragon Flyer that also goes for 20 bucks and really is quite simple and awkward. Luckily it’s actually $30 instead, and it even comes with an exclusive captain marvel! Disappointed about the lack of printed legs AGAIN though, especially since Thanos who’s also exclusive DOES have it! Oh well, I’ll see how I can mod that when I get it. The ship itself also looks amazing, just weird that it’s so off-scale next to minifigs but I don’t mind it, it’ll look great on a shelf and the figures are just an unnecessary but fantastic extra.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Also, is that a new Brie Larson face? It doesn’t look familiar to me, but it does look exactly like the actress!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Pleased to see a LEGO set based on everyone's favourite movie strangulation scene

Gravatar
By in Ireland,

It’s a shame they didn’t also release photos of the August 1st Disney Princess sets!

Gravatar
By in Greece,

3 lazy money-grabs IMO

Gravatar
By in Spain,

Seems like the meditation chambre includes the vader fig with printed arms. Nice.

Gravatar
By in United States,

The meditation chamber should've been a $25 set like 75183. Scale it down a little and remove that massive base.

"I understood that reference!" ;)

Seriously, when I discovered this video more than 10 years ago I was literally ROFL; simple but brilliant!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I think we all need our own lifesize Darth Vadar Meditation Chamber in our home offices.
The Sanctuary II looks a bit on the small scale, but a very difficult ship to do in Lego without going UCS!

Gravatar
By in Norway,

The Meditation Chamber should have been the next hut set, following Luke, Yoda and Ben's. A reasonably priced set that provides some main characters and an important location. The chamber itself doesn't look very impressive, and it's clear that what you pay for is that unnecessarily sturdy base. What a rip-off!

The Sanctuary looks good, though. I feel like it's scaled according to its importance, rather than actual size, which was a very good decision.

I twice met Michael Sheard, the actor who played Admiral Ozzel. He was charming in real life and nothing like his on-screen character. Sadly, he’s no longer with us.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

To each their own but I really feel this cowl could do with a brick built/printed face underneath.

lol that batman cowl is even worse than previous one I guess xD lol

Gravatar
By in United States,

The Meditation Chamber reminds me of a special action figure Hasbro did once, I think it was the 500th Darth Vader figure they'd made. It came in a Meditation Chamber that you could open with a little slide on the back.

Gravatar
By in Sweden,

Meditation Chamber looks good but it feels so padded with that massive base stand. Could've been a great $40 play set instead of a padded $70 faux-display piece.

But was he anything like Mr Bronson, who was far scarier than the admiral . . . ?

He was nothing like Mr Bronson either! :~D

I didn’t know Darth Vader was into Meditation? Would have thought he’d have been a bit more chilled!

Small mercies!

Gravatar
By in Belgium,

that batman thing,...hahahaha...can you spell D.U.M.B.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

I’m a SW LEGO collector but I don’t know if I want the chamber. It’s probably going to be $100 Canadian, which is a lot for two figs, less than 700 parts and no play value. I mean, I will probably get it, but I’m not amazed. I would have preferred a smaller playset, like the huts in previous years as someone said above.

Gravatar
By in Austria,

not cool at all to make the Meditation Chamber so unnecessarily expensive. And only 2 figures! At least Ozzel, Piett and Veers should be in that set. Make it a 30€ set with 3 figures like the Thanos ship and everyone's happy

Gravatar
By in United States,

When I heard Sanctuary II, I thought of some sort of 2000+ piece, UCS-style beast with a whole array of features.
And this?
Not quite what I had thought, but it will do.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Next, a buildable Adam West to fit the cowl...

I know right? At least I am saving my cash on all three.

Gravatar
By in United States,

They really need to do something about that standard size Thanos with the outdated helmet if he's going to be a recurring figure. (This is now the fourth set he's in?)

I'll get that set for Carol and Tony only, but sheesh.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Sanctuary II could have costed twenty dollars more if they got rid of the minifigures, removed the stud shooters, and added a cool-looking stand.

Gravatar
By in United States,

The two sets here that interest me (sanctuary II and Darth Vader Chamber) look really good! the captain marvel looks a bit off with all the blue, the thanos's head is gonna be used for a LOT of memes by putting it on the bigfig's body, and do I see arm printing on the vader? ??

Gravatar
By in United States,

I think I'm in the vast minority in saying the meditation chamber holds no appeal (for me). Unsightly gaps, a confusing choice of subject matter, and it looks like the bulk of the pieces is dedicated to the display base. It seems like it will be a very popular set nonetheless!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Why the huge base on the Meditation Chamber? To make it a display piece?
Sadly that will make the price point too expensive for most kids to get, and probably make it so most AFOL's will pass too. I'd rather have a play set . . . and if I want a base to make it a display set, I could make my own. 18+ sets are great . . . but let's not go overboard . . . this should have clearly been a playset.

100% agree. From the images available it looks like a mess.

Gravatar
By in United States,

The meditation chamber is a joke. No thanks. Ugly. What a terrible design. Not impressed by the other two sets here either.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Ima be honest, I'm not a huge fan of any of these sets. And why is Thanos so tiny?!

Gravatar
By in Poland,

Batman Cowl Lego set is for me the top of the ugliest and least cool sets.
while Darth Vader Meditation Chamber set I will definitely buy at a discount of -20%

Gravatar
By in United States,

On the Lego site Sanctuary II is $40 USD not $30.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I don’t understand how the meditation chamber could cost $70 and it’s only the chamber! Perhaps if it was the entire room that price would be justified. Had this been a $20 set, which it easily could be, I’d buy it in a heartbeat, but there are so many better ways to spend $70 on Lego.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'm not interested in the cowl, but it looks decent. Apparently, that Sanctuary II is supposed to be Thanos's "massive warship". The minifigs look awful, but maybe they'll look better in later images. Why is Thanos a minifig? The meditation chamber is pretty uninteresting, the main draw being the screen. Oh well, there are plenty of other great sets this year.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Available for Pre-order on LEGO...

Sanctuary is October release it says.

SW set is August.

I didn't check the other one.

Gravatar
By in United States,

The website specifies 7+ as the target audience for Sanctuary II: Endgame Battle, so I get the simplicity and size; the Thanos minifig fits in the ship, which would’ve had to be much larger to accommodate a bigfig, so that doesn’t bother me, either.

It’s a neat little set, really.

BTW, it’s available to pre-order for an October release in the US.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@Huw , these definitely seem like they were originally intended to be sets for special events such as San Diego Comic Con and Star Wars Celebration. Just look at the numbering, product size, and style. They align with the annual tradition of a Star Wars set (75294 Bespin Duel and 77904 Nebulon-B Frigate in 2020), a Marvel set (77905 Taskmaster's Ambush), and a DC set (77906 Wonder Woman).

If a 76236 and/or 76239 appear--and especially if one is Star Wars--that should serve as confirmation for my convention theory. The big question is if Lego increased production, otherwise the supply may run out long before the official release date. The Sanctuary II and Batman cowl won't ship until October 1 in the United States. They have sequential numbering like SDCC sets while the Vader set--separate numbering as happened with Bespin Duel as a Star Wars Celebration set--has an August 1 release date.

Sanctuary II has three characters--just like the Marvel SDCC sets in 2019 and 2020.

Vader Meditation is a vignette with two characters--just like the SDCC set in 2018 and the Star Wars Celebration sets in 2017 and 2020. The Star Wars event exclusives in 2019 were helmets/busts--and the Marvel SDCC set for 2018 had a helmet/bust of Giant Man.

It seems unlikely that there would be two Batman cowls on the shelf at one time, but completely normal for there to be a limited edition 1966 helmet version (76238) for SDCC--just like we had a 1966 Batmobile in 2014 with COMCON037.

The variance in pricing of $30, $60, and $70 breaks from the $40 per set at SDCC and Star Wars Celebration, but all are somewhat reasonable with similarly related products and still far cheaper than secondary market prices to acquire such event exclusives.

This is the problem lately. Too many collectors that "will probably get it," even when the set is overpriced or not that good. I have been one myself for many years (I have pretty much every OT Star Wars set other than some that have been re-released too many times or were exclusive to certain events or regions). I'm thinking I may actually pass on this meditation chamber set as it looks dull and has clearly been padded out to take advantage of collectors.

Woah, I didn’t look at those sets like that. Thanks for your insight! I have pre-ordered my copy of Sanctuary II so I won’t be sorry later on.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

As much as I like it, at $80 Canadian for the Cowl for only 372 pieces, it is an easy pass for me. $50 would be a way more reasonable price.

@DavidBrick:
Too bad they ended up with this. Frankly, I'd rather they released Robin's mask, even at the same price. I can't think of another actor who was so reliant on his fan base yet resented them so much, compared to the third person to wear the Batsuit.

I wish LEGO would produce another DC SDCC set with real play value. The last DC SDCC set I felt compelled to get was 2018’s 75996 Aquaman and Storm. Last year’s 77906 Wonder Woman set was in the same vein as SDCC2015-3, 77903, and
75997 - all display, no real play value.

Indeed. I really hope that there's a Creator Expert version of the 1966 Batmobile in the works. It would be so much better than the later pretenders!

Gravatar
By in United States,

@sjr60:
The original Batmobile, that was completed in 1963, would be a much better pick. And you do realize that West’s show and antics nearly killed the franchise, right? It’s only because of stuff like Year One, The Dark Knight Returns, The Killing Joke, and Burton’s films that the character regained any popularity.

No. I don't 'realize' anything of the sort.

Gravatar
By in United States,

The 1966 Batmobile is THE Batmobile for many people of a certain age range, so LEGO wouldn’t wrong picking it for a Creator Expert set.

The only other truly iconic Batmobile would be the one from Batman The Animated Series. That one is a lot of flat surfaces, but it’s huge, imposing, and has all the correct proportions.

If we’re talking sets that have a good chance of selling many copies, I think those are the two that stand the best chance.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@MutoidMan:
They’ve still got the lobster-copter from The Dark Knight Rises, and a retail version of the Bat-Pod would be nice. From the Burton films, I would love to see the Bat-missile and Bat-skiboat from Returns.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

The Vader chamber looks like it has a mechanism that lifts and lowers the upper half, which is neat. I wonder if it does how long it'll be before it gets motorised.

Gravatar
By in Belgium,

Now we need a Superman nameplate / sculpture...
Later they can start with Wolverine...
Just an idea nothing more
