Wondered when these where gonna show up on brickset, as a main Ninjago fan and someone who has no interests in marvel whatsoever, holy crap these sets are amazing! The 2 smaller sets are day 2 buys, and I am def considering the watcher thing as well.

Very curious to see what sort of interior or play features the pizza slice will have.

By in United States,

I'm planning on converting the titular model in 76155 (In Arishem's Shadow) to be in OG Blacktron (black and yellow) colors to go fight my CS Iron Giant.... so yes, I've been waiting since December for this to come out!

By in United States,

The piece count listed for 76155 In Arishem's Shadow has to be a mistake, right? To be honest, even though these images leaked quite a while ago I am still surprised a non-Avengers movie got this many sweet sets. I want all of them!

By in United States,

I was fairly into "space Marvel" back in the day and even then I scarcely have much of an idea who the Eternals are. Figured these would drop since the second trailer was released a few days ago. Builds do look pretty interesting and I do find myself oddly compelled to collect the minifigs since I like superhero minifigs in general...but do I really care? A question for the ages.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

The first wave of Hobbit sets did a really good job at separating all the dwarves so you HAD to buy each of the sets to get one of each but this is weird...

If you buy all these sets you end up with 3 Ikarises, 2 Thenas, 2 Makkaris, and 2 Sersis...but no Dark Knight or Kro? Odd...

Rare occasion were I found all sets very nice. Might try to complete this collection.

Wonder why box art on one and products on others? Just random sometimes

DC fan far more than Marvel, so don't know the story at all beyond the movie trailer, but these look very cool.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I love Marvel movies and collecting minifigures, but I don't seem to be too interested in these. Weird.

Overall, they could be good. I don't know enough about the movie (maybe I should watch the trailer?) to know how good these examples are.

Kro is the buildable figure in the Domo set.

£99.00 seems steep for a movie and characters no one knows anything about. I could understand if these were Eternals 2 sets following the first movies major success. But what... suddenly all Marvel properties are top dollar when they haven’t even earned it? Who do they think they’re kidding?

Gravatar

Normally I could care less about box art, but this template is quite handsome!

I mean people will but it, it has unique marvel minifigures in it;)

By in United Kingdom,

Eternals, Shang-Chi, Disney+... maybe I'm out of touch with Marvel, but somehow these characters/variants just don't speak to me. I know we're supposed to be upbeat in the comments but I don't feel excited about some of LEGO's recent/forthcoming Marvel releases.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I like Marvel, but these are a hard pass. If Guardians of the Galaxy were D level superheroes these are more like F or lower. I've heard of the Eternals but they're about as forgettable group as there is. The trailer does nothing for me.

By in United States,

Sersi...she’s the one who slept with her brother, killed her husband, took over the kingdom, and just about ran it into the ground before someone dropped a building in her, right?

@McBrightside:
How many “has to be a mistake” piece counts have actually been a mistake lately? If you want detail, it takes a lot of pieces. If you just want a brightly colored brick, RSotD has you covered for like anothe 4.5 hours.

@Harmonious_Building:
They don’t really look like superheroes. They look like something between sci-fi and SyFy.

@mstchmshrms:
Firstly, there were a whopping 13 Dwarves to collect, plus a repeat of Gandalf, several ancillary characters, and you got a small pile of Bilbos (thankfully including a few unique variants, so it wasn’t as bad as the first wave of Harry Potter). Second, this worked precisely one wave of sets, after which they’d run out of Dwarves and had to start putting them in new outfits. Third, people know who the Dwarves are, where this feels like they’re trying to get you to remember these characters’ names so you won’t be completely lost when (if) you watch the movie. And fourth, DC has you covered on the Dark Knight.

All an easy pass for me.

I really like the graphics printed (I hope they are printed) on the pieces for the pizza slice. Based on what I can see in the images, those graphics might have lots of other uses.

Apparently “The Eternals” is directed by Chloe Zhao of “Nomadland” fame. Wonder if “The Eternals” will be likewise banned in China…

And judging from the trailers, the Eternals are far more akin to DC’s Endless (from Neil Gaiman’s Sandman) than traditional spandex-wearing superheroes. Maybe I’m getting my hopes up too high.

But hey, regardless of Marvel’s forgettable shlock this year, at least we’re getting Act 2 of “The Sandman” Audible audio drama and the first season of “The Sandman” Netflix adaptation.

Forget it, there’s no way any summer blockbuster with a weightless CGI action sequences quota to fill can come anywhere close to Neil Gaiman’s “The Sandman”.

Not banned, but ‘removed from schedule’ along with Shang-Chi.

On another note, I have little interest in the film itself (I’m sure it would be good, I’m just not that excited), but the minifigures here are decent enough.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

as a somewhat big Marvel nerd I have no idea who the Eternals are. and after watching the trailers...well, same answer as before. I'll admit I wasn't super into the "cosmic" side of Marvel though, so makes sense that I'm ignorant of these folks.

I love me some MCU but this movie just doesn't look that interesting. I'll totally still watch it on disney+ after the premium fee goes away. I'm just happy to see some Marvel Lego sets that I don't want! Hope the movie doesn't change my mind! :D

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Normally, I'm "I want it for this minifigure". Especially with the superhero sets, to put in my City. But mostly these are a hard pass for me. I might get 76155 In Arishem's Shadow, just for the Celestial build, though.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

The blades used for the Deviants' wings appear to be opalescent.

Also the photos suggest the 6x6 domes used in the Domo and Arishem's feet arent just trans-clear

Guardians of the Galaxy made almost 800 million and two sequels. Ant-Man performed in a similar fashion. It’s not the superhero who attracts audiences at this point- it’s the Marvel name (of course, more recognizable characters = more money- Spider-Man will always be more profitable than Ant-Man- but people will still watch anything with a Marvel logo on).

Personally, this looks to be the most interesting of this year’s MCU offerings for me- the director and cast are interesting and it seems very different from the standard Marvel fare. Of course, my taste is more esoteric than most people’s, so I completely understand the relative lack of interest.

Knowing absolutely nothing about these characters or the movie, looking at images of these sets, my favourite thing has to be Gilgamesh’s flaming gold fists.

Another of the great Kirby creations mined for the Marvel movies.
The Eternals were created by the Celestials visiting Earth one million years ago and performed genetic experiments on early proto-humans.
Two races were created, the long lived (not quite immortal) Eternals, and the genetically unstable and monstrous Deviants.
These experiments possibly have led to super-powered mutations in humans (the X-Men?).
The Celestials did this experiment on other planets (such as the Kree and Skrull homeworlds) with similar results.
They can do a thing call the Uni-Mind. They combine all the intellect of the Eternals into one consciousness to combine their powers, make a collective important decision, combine their consciousness and form a new being...something to that effect.
Haven't read it in years.

Neil Gainman actually wrote a reboot of Eternals in the early 2000s, so worth a read before you see the film- much more likely to be inspiration for the film than the original Kirby stories I would guess

So…you like The Sandman?

By in United States,

@Mr__Thrawn:
When the MCU began, they started with the literal top of the bottom if the barrel. The Avengers were the most well-known and bankable property left in their stable that nobody else wanted the film rights for. Any more popular IP they’d already sold the rights for just to keep the company afloat prior to selling themselves to Disney.

Any early success for the MCU rested firmly on Ironman’s back. Marvel and Disney have basically disowned the first Hulk film, crediting Ironman as the first MCU film (Blade could tell you that it’s not the only time they’ve tried to rewrite their own history). The fact that the second Hulk film begins with a synopsis of the first film shows the truth behind their charade. But if the first Ironman film had likewise met a lukewarm reception, they’d probably still be trying to find their footing.

Going forward from there, they got audiences to buy into the idea that they had to watch _everything_ or they’d miss a key moment in the Grimace Saga. But that’s done now, and they haven’t openly stated what they plan to build up to next. Mostly it seems to be ignoring the Avengers B-Team that they built up in favor of trying to gather together a new stable of characters.

This leads to a problem, though. There’s no underpinning story (that we know of), so any single movie now has to stand on its own merits rather than the promise of a tie-in to a larger story-arc. And the chatter sounds like Black Widow didn’t really stick the landing. I suspect going forward that audiences will be more likely to judge each film on its own merits rather than as a component in the greater whole. Word-of-mouth, for good or bad, will determine whether any single film is deemed a success.

Yes, GotG was thought to be a long shot when it came out, but again there was that looming promise that it would play a critical role in the Grimace Saga, but beyond that the trailers made Rocket and Groot must-see characters before the film premiered. I don’t think you have that with this one. This is a film that people can skip and probably not feel a moment of regret. Shang-Chi at least has the inclusivity angle to lure people in, but I’m not sure you get that with an ensemble cast playing characters that people never heard of and aren’t excited by.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I know nothing about The Eternals comics and have seen no previews/trailers/anything for the movie (and don't even know when it comes out)...so these sets have NO appeal to me. Normally some sets from movies I haven't seen will still have some kind of appeal. These do not. Nothing. Nada.

I got to say that this story seems pretty far fetched. Genetic experiments? Immortality? Other planets? I mean, come on, it is just so unrealistic.

Now if it was a story about Kaminoans making genetically altered clones, or involved extracting midichlorians from Baby Yoda, or even reviving a dead Emporer who we clearly saw get thrown down a shaft prior to the moon-sized space station he was on getting blown to smithereens (and later appearing on a moon mostly intact), then you would have something that I would say is believable.

But this is just absurd. So absurd that I’ll probably watch it as soon as it arrives on Disney+ since it seems like Marvel stuff always shows up when there is a break in the Star Wars action.

@PurpleDave :
The first Universal Hulk movie pre-dated the MCU and is not a part of it, just as the pre-Homecoming Sony Spider-Man movies (and Venom movies) and Fox Fantastic Four movies are not part of the MCU.

The first MCU Hulk movie is a reboot and simply skips the origin just as the first MCU Spider-Man skips the origin - why spend time endlessly rehashing what everyone already knows, like they do over at DC?

Black Widow was fine - not the best MCU movie, and not the worst (which is still far better than any DC movie). The Eternals will likely do fine, and the sets look great; I can’t not like a Celestial!

It doesn't really seem fair to blame Lego for the design of the ship, or for adapting what will almost definitely be the main ship of the movie.

It took me a minute to figure out what you were talking about with Grimace. The current big MCU build ups are Kang and the Multiverse, with the introduction of Mutants another thing that will keep people watching every movie/show looking for hints and post credit scenes.

Exactly! It's all but assured that KANG! is the next big bad, with a story arc that has the potential to be more overarching and coherent than the Infinity Saga. His introduction has already been handled better than Thanos'.

Regarding your second comment, is this a clear example of a "new" generation of Marvel fandom that is almost exclusively focused on the MCU? While the Eternals have never been super prominent in the Marvel Universe, they have popped up regularly enough that any self-described "Marvel nerds" should be familiar with them. Someone referenced the 21st century Neil Gaiman run above. And going farther back, the whole Sersi/Black Knight arc was a key plot point of the Avengers for years. I am very much looking forward to seeing what Kit Harrington does with the character in this movie.

By in United States,

@MutoidMan:
Watch “Hulk”. Think about the fact that they said it’s not part of the MCU. Watch the intro to “The Incredible Hulk”. That’s “Hulk”, in the MCU. It’s right there, staring at you.

The two best Marvel movies aren’t even part of the MCU, nor were they produced by Marvel Studios (being Deadpool and Logan). On par with them are The Dark Knight and Joker. Most of the MCU isn’t that great. I really liked the first Guardians. I liked the second Guardians, the Ironman trilogy, the first Thor, and the second Captain America, but the rest...

The first Captain America, like reading The Great Gatsby in high school, put me to sleep multiple times before I could power through the opening bit. The third felt like they picked teams more based on who needed to unexpectedly switch sides than what anyone would have actually felt was the right decision (and CGI Spiderboy looks really bad). The second Thor I barely remember watching because it was so forgettable. The third, unfortunately, was not, but it gives Wisconsin a run for its money in biggest producer of cheese. One of the more popular jokes doesn’t even make sense. Thor knows Hulk “from work”? So he was hired by The Avengers? Is he salaried or hourly? What does he earn? Does he pay taxes to Asgard, the US, or whatever nation he’s superheroing in at the moment (or do they pay him under the table? Does he have a resident green card? Does he even know what a job is (judging by Couch Potato Thor, probably not). I didn’t like any of the four Avengers films, and Grimace looked beyond terrible. Antman barely had time to read off the rules before they were crumpled up and tossed out the window (Antman 2 forgot they ever had rules). Dr. Strange had really fancy visuals that it relied on a bit too much. Marvel’s Captain Marvel could have cast a ficus in the lead role and I probably wouldn’t have noticed the difference. And Black Panther, while not a particularly bad film (I actually really liked the portrayal of the character whose original name they had to avoid mentioning because it’s so incredibly racist), gets way too much credit for being the eighth or ninth black superhero to headline a movie (another Marvel character even managed to get in an entire trilogy that apparently nobody remembers). I’m skipping all the Spider-flicks that aren’t named after Venom.

Now, if you want to say all of those movies are better than, say, Steel, or Catwoman, sure. I’ll give you that. Most of them are even better than Whedon’s Marveltaged cut of Justice League. Better than the Snyder Cut? I’d have to watch them back-to-back to see if I’d allow that for the first Guardians. Otherwise, no.

(Funny) Joking aside, once the Avengers had to register with the government, they were technically employees. That particular joke was conceived by a young fan who was visiting set the day that they filmed that scene.

At the end of Avengers 2, Banner/Hulk launches himself into space, and Thor returns to Asgard to seek answers. Meanwhile, back on Earth, Civil War happens, and the Sokovia Accords are passed. Back out in space, Thor bumps into Hulk in Ragnarok, and, even though neither of them have returned to Earth since Avengers 2, nor been in communication with anyone on Earth, Thor, who has never punched a clock in his life, suddenly knows all of this and considers his time with the Avengers to be a 9-to-5 job? And both were apparently employed in absentia? The eyebrow cannot raise high enough for that one.

The eyebrow cannot raise high enough for that one."

It’s a joke, hardly worth getting so upset about :)

I'm exceptionally well read on virtually everything Marvel from the start of the Silver Age up through the early 2010's. I could likely only name 1 Eternal character. Sersi, and only because she was an Avenger. I've tried reading Eternals a few times over the years, but the entire core concept made them so unlikable. Just pompous arrogant @zzholes. Jack Kirby was unquestionably one of the greatest American Artists of the 20th century. A true legend. But he was an artist. His Writing skills were at best passable, and at worst... The Eternals. If you see anything you like in the Eternal's, go read Jack Kirby;s DC Fourth World stuff, which is the Eternal's but done much better.

yeah that's going to be a huge problem for Marvel, this is not comparable to GotG because with that Marvel was at least smart enough to change the entire team"

Changed the team as in when the comics introduced the 21st century version of the team? Those characters weren't any more popular or well known than the 30th century team were at the time.

Apparently you forgot that the Forgotten One was an Avenger too ; )
I think you are a little hard on Kirby the writer, but for sure he wasn't the most naturalistic scripter.
Speaking of Kirby, the MCU should really get on adapting Machine Man. The light comedy/sarcasm is popular in the movies and the opportunities for toy sales could be huge.

Not. Another. Superheroes. Movie. Please... (and and no more relevant sets of course). The only thing I like so far are the round tiles on the pizza slice that can pass as ancient dwarves (Dwemer for The Elder Scrolls) machinery

That is the least appetizing piece of pizza I've ever seen!

"The piece count listed for 76155 In Arishem's Shadow has to be a mistake, right? To be honest, even though these images leaked quite a while ago I am still surprised a non-Avengers movie got this many sweet sets. I want all of them!"

The piece count is 693.

I had known of Rocket Raccoon for years, even if I couldn’t have told you much about him (probably heard the name from one of my college friends). Groot was in one of the LEGO Marvel console games (admittedly, probably because he was going to be in GotG), and struck me as odd enough that I had to look him up. I still can’t tell you anything about the original GotG except that the leader is named something like Rambo Balboa, and there’s a guy made of crystal. The way I’ve heard it, the GotG crew changed significantly over the run of the comics, and the movie cast leans into the most popular iteration, with the original group making a cameo appearance in GotG2.

Comics Yondu was also an original member of the team, although that is of course tweaked in the MCU.

FWIW, comics Starhawk was a pretty interesting character (who has no discernible connection to the MCU version).

Otherwise, no."

Snyder Cut—?!

No. Just... No.

By in United States,

a big "meh", but I'm not the target market I suppose. Kid not a marvel fan, but with Chloe Zhao at the helm I'm actually excited for this marvel movie for once.

these don't hold a candle to the outgoing Monkie Kid sets so pretty bummed about these actually.

That is a shame, I really wanted a Kit Harrington minifigure and the Black Knight could be a really cool character. Perhaps they will come later? Still, that leaves no excuse for the strange array of duplicates...

Ideally you would have at least 2 of each - 1 in an cheaper set, 1 in a more expensive set - so that you aren't compelled to buy them all. It doesn't seem to be the case here because Gilgamesh and Sprite are in one set each, and that's the only reason I would buy those sets tbh.

There’s always the SDCC minifigs...

@busyman:
And you’ve pretty much nailed why they _don’t_ do that. Minifigs sell sets. They figured that out about a decade ago, and realized that any set that contains an exclusive minifigs has a more compelling reason for people to buy it.

By in Australia,

I've just seen these sets on Lego.com. 76155 In Arishem’s Shadow is 120 Dollars AUD. What the hell Lego? I was expecting 100 dollars at most. In addition, The Rise of Domo is 180 Dollars AUD. I just don't understand these price tags. Even for Australia these are crazy.
