City Advent Calendar - Day 12

Posted by ,

Day 12! Halfway through the calendar, and we've seen a few nice microscales. Vehicles seem to be the order of the day (or month, as it were). I do wish we had more festive builds, though. Maybe we'll see one or two more in the next two weeks.

There have been many renditions of snowmen over the last several years - I'm always reminded of The Frosty Review published a few years back. However, I don't remember any of them having a wig. It does make for a decent looking snowman, though. Props to the designer for the parts usage on the arms, and seeing a green scarf makes for a nice change of pace.

Still not sure it's one of my favourites, but it never fails to amaze me how the advent calendar designers can continue to come up with different ways to build a snowman.

Good -- the bottom half using a globe piece, and the green scarf which is nifty.

Bad -- the black robot arms and the wig.

Based on the hair, it's supposed to be Duke Detain.

All behold the Duke DeTain-robot-snowman!

Brown arms would have been definitely better, and a hat instead of the wig, but otherwise it is a fun design. Finally a great wintery build, too bad the inside of the box spoiled the surprise with the graphics showing this.

I think the black 1x1 in the middle makes it look especially scary. Take that out and it might be more like a snowman.
I guess they had to get Duke in there somewhere without breaking the minifigure budget.

Fun little build, but the final result looks somewhat unsettling....

They still haven't nailed the snowman, but I like the use of the sphere on this one. At least it's a very good parts pack: a green scarf, black robot arms, a plain white minifig head, a decent hairpiece and again, the white sphere.

More like a Snowmannequin. So weird.

Remember that episode of Friends when Ross became a snowman?

No, me neither.

Why black robot arms? Wouldn’t brown ones have looked more like sticks?

The torso looks pretty bad. I guess the cube shape was necessary to attach the arms, but it looks totally wrong.

The black studs just makes it stand out even worse. Were those necessary?

Terrible. I laughed when I saw the photo. Android snowman or something?

A nod to the designer for some very creative parts usage. That said ... this might haunt my nightmares.

And thus the rise of Snownet began, with the first T-80664n to come online.
