Marvel Advent Calendar - Day 10
Posted by CapnRex101,Seasonal accessories have appeared during the last couple of days, making an excellent change following various items which seemed relatively generic for an Advent Calendar.
Hopefully the festive theming endures...
Another model themed around Spider-Man emerges today, inspired by Mysterio's drones from 76174 Spider-Man's Monster Truck vs. Mysterio and therefore Spider-Man: Far From Home. The shaping looks reasonable and the colour scheme of blue and red is certainly identifiable with Spider-Man, but this seems like a strange addition to the Advent Calendar.
Nevertheless, I like the articulated weapons on the front and the binoculars clipped to each side look great. There is also a vacant stud to attach the robotic spider which emerged yesterday, so that connectivity between items is welcome.
Overall - 3.0 - While the Spider-Man drone looks good, something more exciting could certainly have replaced it.

Oh this will work with my daily Advent Calendar story perfectly. Loki and Sylvie have stolen Tony's heart and Peter's gift from yesterday, so logically the drone will be tracking them down. Carl and Steve will probably have coffee in the TVA office.
At least I actually recognised what it was, straight away. Certainly an interesting addition to an advent calendar, but I like that this calendar is surprising me.
When I was building this one I thought it might be a microscale version of one of Spidey's vehicles - maybe the weird bike thing with Doc Ock - that was supposed to be inside the wrapped present from yesterday.
This drone really doesn't do it for me, one of the weakest days so far.
It’s quite an effective build for a drone
Maybe one day there will be a not-minifigure build where I don't think "what on earth is that?" until I look here...
That 76174 link is broken - it just points to the picture of the drone

Thank you, that has been corrected.
Definitely recognisable, and the variant colour scheme may or may not be an overall benefit to that. In film colours, it's white and depends on you remembering Far From Home better, but in spidery colours it's a prompt to think of his films and remember that recent one with the drones.
I may have rebuild it in white, but I can't argue against their deviation here, and it's the right kind of build for a calendar- clearly a good fit for the parts budget available, and an additional massable unit.
So, wait, Mysterio has drones, and Spiderman just copies the look and gave it a different paint job? Spiderman is China?
I had so much trouble attaching the binoculars to the clips, I ended up just keeping them vertical instead of horizontal. Did anyone else have that problem?

I was having issues too, but then I noticed that the tube was pointed upwards on 76174 - It fits much better in that orientation for me, odd that it would matter that much.
I'm glad you have these daily roundups because otherwise my son and I would be completely baffled as to what some of the items are meant to be!

Yes, but the difficulties were far greater on one side. I'm wondering if there were mold variations or something.
Also, I noticed that the inner (bottom if you have studs on top) arm of the clip is slightly smaller than the outside (upper if you have studs on top) of the clip, so it's easier to put the binocs horizontal if you put them hugging the inside of the drone, rather than the outside as is pictured in the article.

Inconceivable! Only the best is good enough..mold variations be damned!
(this is my poor attempt at humor because not everything is so perfect with molds. Even if it is a small percentage, I must have a large amount of them that just don't have the clutch power we have come to expect.)
This is at least a 4. Pretty unique build if you don’t own those sets the drone is in, the colours are fun and it’s a substantial little model.
Wasn’t quite sure what this was exactly, but was kind of thinking a drone. Nice to hear some of the explanations on these threads. I actually attached yesterday’s spider present to the top to make it a delivery drone and the spider tracker will make sure it isn’t stolen by a delivery man ;)
