Harry Potter Advent Calendar - Day 3
Posted by CapnRex101,An interesting theme is rapidly emerging in this Harry Potter Advent Calendar, following Harry's earliest exposure to the Wizarding World during The Philosopher's Stone.
Where might that journey lead next?
The purpose of today's structure is not immediately apparent, as the instructions display the model with its studs pointing upwards. However, the packaging reveals that this is the fireplace from the Dursleys' house, which looks good once oriented correctly. The fireplace is relatively substantial and includes an opening flap to prevent Hogwarts acceptance letters arriving!
Unfortunately, this model is rather bland in its current form. The presence of clips on either side, along with several vacant studs, suggests that some embellishments will arrive though, so I look forward to those.
Overall - 4.0 - This fireplace appears incomplete without any decoration, but its size is appealing and the function is clever as well.

I liked today's build, nice to have an interaction that works well with the letter from Day 1
We struggled to work out what it was at first, and it never dawned on me until seeing the pic here that that's what the flap is for(!)
The box art also shows how the clip tile is supposed to work with the fireplace, for those who might not have deduced the purpose of the slot.
I just came here to try and find out what the hell I just built. I thought it was some sort of chair or desk. Thank you Capn!
I was also a bit puzzled after building this, but your picture made it clear! Clever mechanism indeed. I also look forward to completing the build tomorrow.
On a different note, while I do like the idea of a playing board and having an actual game to play after everything is built, the mat itself is a bit of a spoiler, because some of the items are rather easy to guess...
Thoroughly confused at what this was! LOL! I've never had to Google a lego advent calendar ever! I would have never figured this out or the flap.
