Harry Potter Advent Calendar - Day 20
Posted by CapnRex101,
Kings Cross Station could provide inspiration for several appealing items. However, there are few days left to reach Hogwarts, hence we may have to board the Hogwarts Express quickly.
All aboard for day twenty...
Hermione Granger joins the Advent Calendar today, completing the famous 'Golden Trio' and wearing the same uniform as Ron from day eighteen. This torso is exclusively available in 76390 Harry Potter Advent Calendar, lacking the traditional house association because the characters had not been assigned their houses at this stage during The Philosopher's Stone.
However, a metallic gold Hogwarts crest is visible on the tie. This detail reflects the onscreen robes and the dark bluish grey jumper looks perfect too. Otherwise, this version of Hermione matches previous examples, featuring a familiar textured hair piece and a double-sided head with happy and frightened expressions.
Hermione carries her dark tan vine wand, as normal. Two sets of wands are provided, leaving three spares. That is her only accessory though, as this minifigure lacks the printed chocolate frog card which appeared with her classmate.
Overall - 4.0 - The newest Hermione Granger minifigure looks great and wears accurate robes, but more remarkable variants have appeared in past Advent Calendars.

Kinda nice they went the extra mile and made a new torso for the 15 minute in which Hermione isn’t in Gryffidor - not the most useful for the character, but could work well for other students.
This is the kind of thing that makes these calendars worthwhile:
They give us prints and items that would otherwise be hard to include,
partly because they're in a scene that probably won't be made into a set.
(even though this particular example doesn't really prove my point, since it could be used for a set around the sorting ceremony; come to think about it, that's kinda what they did in the upcoming 76399, so it won't remain exclusive to the AC for long)
'Ello, 'Ermione!
So Hogwarts students had to buy a non-house uniform for the few hours before they were sorted?

Prettymuch, although I'd like to think these are magical uniforms that transform into robes with the correct house colours upon sorting ;-)
I forgot to say this before with Ron, but the crest done that way looks very much like a police badge. Hermione showed no interest in the pile of candy Harry and Ron were gorging on, so it only makes sense that she wouldn’t get a CF card.
@YanVanLan:
But that scene did make it into a set. Two sets, actually. The original Hogwarts Express was released as part of the Year 1 assortment, and she was wearing her robes from the very first time we saw her. The most recent Hogwarts Express had the candy cart, which I don’t recall from any other movie (certainly not Years 2 or 4), but the minifigs were based on his Year 3 ride, even though all the other sets in that wave were Years 1 & 2.
@HugeYellowBrick:
They obviously have to buy their uniforms or Ron wouldn’t be wearing hand-me-downs. The only obvious change I can recall is the necktie. Some minifigs have had House crests in their sweaters, but I don’t remember seeing them in the movies.
So, one generic tie to get you in the door, and the question is if you need to buy a new tie once you’ve been Sorted, or if magic converts it for you.
Reminds me of the original 4701 Sorting Hat with the unsorted Harry, and more specifically the unsorted Hermione in 4708 Hogwarts Express (1st version).
It always felt so special to own that torso.

The cart does appear in the Goblet of Fire film, though the design of the trolley witch is definitely based on the first movie appearance. Just as a friendly FYI! :)
In terms of robes, I like to believe they are magical and change to suit the student's new house.
@Albus:
But the minifigs from 75955 were based on Azkaban. If it didn’t appear in that film, then this version of the Hogwarts Express is a blend of two different movies.
