Star Wars Advent Calendar - Day 22

Posted by ,

75307 Star Wars Advent Calendar is nearing the conclusion and I am hoping these final days will prove impressive, improving upon the weapons rack from yesterday.

That should prove easy...

Festive minifigures and characters are invariably found in LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendars and Grogu was an obvious choice this year! As usual, the infant looks completely adorable, featuring enormous eyes and lovely texture on his head. The delightful scarf and tiny snowflake details only further his appeal, particularly given their seasonal colour scheme.

However, the machinery which decorates this baby component can only print an area at the centre of the torso, rather than reaching the edges like typical minifigures. That issue is noticeable here and I am surprised the designers did not adjust the design accordingly. Perhaps printing Din Djarin's helmet at the centre, in festive colours, would have been suitable to represent both the season and Grogu's devotion to his guardian.

An excellent baby carrier is also provided. Grogu looks perfect when nestled inside and this bag can be mounted on the earlier speeder bike, recreating the rudimentary transportation method which appears during both seasons of The Mandalorian.

Overall - 4.5 - Grogu is certainly an appropriate seasonal figure, although the limited area for decoration on the torso is awkward.

They could’ve easily included this and Mando in 1 day instead of splitting the 2

a very lovely surprise!

cute but should but alternatively be the same day as the pram

The carrier can also be attached to IG-11 in a nod to another scene in the finale of Season 1! ;)

While Grogu is very cute, just 3 pieces in the bag was rather disappointing.

He wants your permission - for a hug!

OMG! The first build without like ten spare pieces!!!

Good, even great, by itself, but nowhere near enough to fill out a day. But then, the Star Wars team has a penchant for nickel and diming us on these calendars.

Either this and Mando separate or another weapons rack.

I know what I’d choose

Limited printing? Maybe he’s just wearing a bib!

It’s odd to me that CapnRex cited the limitations of the printing; my thought upon seeing it was how amazing it was that they got printing there at all, given how far the arms stick out in front and how limited the space is between them. Perhaps I’m just a lot more forgiving.

I think this is a pretty wonderful figure, and a solid entry for the late stages on the AC, despite being just three pieces including the carrying piece. Given Grogu’s immense popularity and the “awww” factor, I actually kind of expected him to appear on the 24th. I am a wee bit disappointed, though, that his hover pram will be a separate build, after getting a mere three pieces here, but not really surprised. I guess we now know not only what the last two reveals are, but also which dates will bring which.

Obviously this and Mando together plus another weapons rack. It would add more parts to the collection and improve the value of the otherwise mediocre advent calendar this year.

By in Germany,

I was SO sure to get Mando totay - the weapons rack would be a logical bridge between IG 11 and DD. So this was a pleasant surprise!

I'd choose a calendar without any weapons racks at all, like the previous two years. It IS possible, some designers just don't seem to like doing it.

I disagree weapon racks don’t add any value in my opinion. Weapons should come with the figures

Awh, cuteness personified!

Just 2 pieces for me today, a torso and baby carrier. A headless Grogu isn’t the most festive thing to find in your advent calendar. Bah Humbug!

I am amazed how many comments here are moaning about the ‘number of pieces’ rather than enjoying the character. Why not give up on the advent calendar rather than being so negative about its quality? It is the season of goodwill….

They should, but they could do that and still have weapons racks. The calendar could have more weapons than needed for its figure complement.

Christmas Grogu also looks great on the back of Christmas Yoda from a few years back.
