Sonic the Hedgehog revealed!

Posted by ,

The 39th LEGO Ideas set, which is based on toastergrl's Sonic Mania - Green Hill Zone project that passed review in February last year, has been revealed. Here's the press release:

21331 Sonic the Hedgehog Green Hill Zone
1,125 pieces, rated 18+.
$69.99 / £59.99 / €69.99 / AU$119.90 / CA$89.99
Available at LEGO.com from 1st January.

Today, the LEGO Group announces the new LEGO Ideas Sonic the Hedgehog Green Hill Zone set; a detailed LEGO brick representation of one of the most iconic video game levels ever. Conceived by 24-year-old, UK based LEGO superfan Viv Grannell, through the LEGO Ideas platform, this new analog version of the Green Hill Zone gives fans the chance to build and display a piece of gaming history.

Sonic the Hedgehog blasted onto the screens of gamers worldwide in 1991, racing to grab gold rings as he ran through the first level of the game — the now-iconic Green Hill Zone — a bright-green landscape with a look inspired by the California hills. Sonic has kept up the tradition of featuring the much-loved Green Hill Zone in many new versions of the game over the past 30 years — and now the zone can be tackled in a new way; a “real life" LEGO version, designed to be built by fans, arriving in LEGO Stores and LEGO.com on New Year’s Day.

Lots of fun details and easter eggs have been incorporated into 1,125-piece set including five minifigures - an updated version of Sonic, Crabmeat, Moto Bug, Dr. Eggman and the Phantom Ruby. Also included are 10 boxes of golden-coloured Rings and a Technic lever to spring Sonic and friends into the air. And just like in the game, you can earn a gem reward as you build the set! This fun-filled LEGO build results in a dynamic display set or one that can be played with by any Sonic or LEGO fan for years to come.

LEGO fan Viv Grannell is a passionate Sonic enthusiast and saw an opportunity to create a dedicated LEGO set. They submitted their design to the LEGO Ideas platform, a LEGO initiative that allows fans to create designs which are then voted on by the wider LEGO fan community. The submission reached the required 10,000 votes to be considered by the LEGO team to be made into reality.

Taking on the challenge of turning the concept into a LEGO set was LEGO Designer Sam Johnson. Talking about the set, Sam said; “Just about anyone who has enjoyed video games on any level in the last 30 years, knows and loves Sonic — and has probably sped through the unforgettable Green Hill Zone with him. We have designed this set to be just as colourful and fun as the in-game version of The Green Hill Zone, then filled it with lots of Easter eggs and even prizes to help fans enjoy some of their most beloved gaming icons in a brand-new way.”

  • Model measures 17cm/7” x 36cm / 14” x 6cm / 2.5”
  • 1125 pieces
  • 5 minifigures, including a new version of Sonic and also Crab, Motobug, Dr. Eggman, and Phantom Ruby
  • 10 ring boxes
  • Modular build, which can be linked to other architecture sets
  • Interactive elements and Easter eggs, such as:
  • A Technic lever on the spring module to launch Sonic and his friends into the air
  • Sit Dr Eggman inside the Egg Robot
  • Just like in the game – get a gem reward as you build the set
  • Super speed and shield TV screens also included
  • Price: $69.99 / £59.99 / €69.99 / 119.9 AUD / 89.99 CAD

You can view more images on the set details page. Unfortunately we missed the deadline to apply for a copy of the set, so we won't be able to review it before release.

I'm a bit puzzled by the statement "Modular build, which can be linked to other architecture sets". What architecture sets? It looks like you could buy several of this one and connect them, but I can't think of any other sets it would join to.

I'm also surprised by "5 minifigures, including a new version of Sonic and also Crab, Motobug, Dr. Eggman, and Phantom Ruby". It seems to be stretching the definition of a minifigure somewhat, and to consider phantom ruby as one is absurd.

Will you be buying this set?

Yes, as soon as it's released
Yes, eventually
Maybe, I haven't made up my mind yet
No, it doesn't interest me
No, it's too expensive
No, but I like it

Bracing myself for all the demands for a minifig scale Mario set like this.

By in United Kingdom,

All those 1x1 plates stacked to make the stand look like they will be tedious to build.

Its not the best IDEAS set ever, but I think I might get it on a good promo or sale, hopefully Argos get it and do a offer similar to their black Friday deal this year (like Winnie the Pooh for 47% off)

5 minifigures? I thought Lego had rules on what they call a minifig.

Now go, Sonic, and zap to the extreme!!!

'I'm also surprised by "5 minifigures, including a new version of Sonic and also Crab, Motobug, Dr. Eggman, and Phantom Ruby". It seems to be stretching the definition of a minifigure somewhat, and to consider phantom ruby as one is absurd!'

What's even more hilarious is that it also straight-up isn't the Phantom Ruby - it was in the original project but got axed along with, well, everything else referencing Sonic Mania.

By in Ireland,

Is it just the lighting or do a few of the checkered stickers look like they're slightly peeling off or not stuck on correctly?

Gravatar
By in Germany,

The buildable minifigures look weird. Especially Dr eggman. And come on stickers?? So lame

Gravatar
By in United States,

Great Sonic minifigure, but that’s a pretty rotten Eggman.

C’mon LEGO, where are my minifig Mario sets?! :)

By in Singapore,

Hi, I'm LegoSonicBoy. Unlike the actual fan designer toastergrl, I had absolutely nothing to do with the conception or development of this set. But I've had this online handle for 20 years, since the club.LEGO.com days (you can tell because the "Lego" isn't in all caps!). I've grown up all my life with both LEGO and Sonic the Hedgehog, having played at least 22 of the video games and beaten over half of them. I wasn't around for LEGO Dimensions and therefore missed out on the Sonic the Hedgehog Level Pack. I turn 30 exactly one week from now. And this will be my best birthday gift to myself ever.

Big waste of a coveted Ideas set IMO….

Gravatar
By in United States,

That Eggman is... rough. They really needed a specialized part for the head, because that looks like a first draft attempt.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

1 minifig not 5, maybe 1 minifigures and 3 buildablke character would've been the right thing to say. I can't see a fifth character though.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I like this - was hoping for a Tails to be added…but maybe if this does well we might see a couple more sets added for Tails and Knuckles (and maybe Super Sonic)

Oh man, that is going straight on my wishlist. I'm not even a Sonic fan (just a video game fan in general), but this is just so pure and detailed. Love how accurate the terrain is! Also love the life counter and power-ups, Eggman is glorious as well (even if a little strange with the split on his face).

Just $70 too! That's obviously due to the high concentration of small pieces in the terrain, but it's still a steal IMO.

...Why is this 18+? Lol

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Not a set I'm personally interested in, but it looks fun, though a bit smallish. Considering those pins, I wonder if there will be add-on sets to connect to this. Quite a few stickers though, that's always disappointing, and the ones on the side of the loop look pretty bad, even on the box. And I can't help but see just one minifig....

And one thing I can't stop thinking: how cool would it have been if they had done something similar to the NES set....

EDIT: I just watched the review by Tiago Catarino, and here the amount of stickers stands out even more. But also, in the Chinese New Years sets a new 1x1x2/3 brick was introduced, it makes you wonder why they didn't use that in this set instead of so many stacks of 1x1 plates. Less annoying to build and would look better.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Does 18+ really make sense here?

This seems the same audience as the Mario sets

Gravatar
By in Norway,

The Mario set everyone wanted.

Gravatar
By in United States,

It seems like the claim of 5 minifigures was limited to the press release only. The product page only claims one, which makes more sense, and says "Iconic characters – A Sonic the Hedgehog™ LEGO® minifigure, plus brick-built figures of Dr. Eggman with his buildable Eggmobile, Moto Bug with 2 face options, and Crabmeat"

No mention of Phantom Ruby. Perhaps an earlier draft of the press release was posted by accident.

Stickers, stickers everywhere.

By in United States,

Couple of thoughts coming from a big Sonic fan myself.
1.) Nice to see a full-on set after getting the Dimensions pack! While I was lucky enough to get one of those around the time the game came out, I know plenty of folks missed out on it. I’m glad this gives another shot at getting Sonic himself along with some enemies!
2.) The Green Hill Zone landscape looks really nice! I could se it being a great play set as well as a set piece on a desk. Also nice that they included all the chaos emeralds. Although, the chaos emeralds being present leads to a point I’ll get back to later.
3.) Eggman just looks bad. He seems to have a pink mouth with two brown bars sticking out of his face. That design could have been better.
3.) Why is this an 18+ set? Come on, it’s Sonic! The series is popular with kids and should have some bright, colorful box art. This just makes it look like someone plopped Green Hill into the void.
5.) I worry that LEGO is doing this as to have yet another one-and-done set instead of multiple. It would be a shame to not at least get Tails and Knuckles to round out the classic roster. Heck, all the emeralds are here, but there’s no Super Sonic.

"That's a surprisingly low price for the amount of pieces! Although that said, I can see there's a lot of 1x1s to make the checkerboard patterns present in Green Hill Zone and other small pieces. I'll obviously be going for it though, out of principle since Sonic is what I first started out with in gaming.

Marketing is confusing though, and clearly leftover from the original submission which was based on the game Sonic Mania. Classifying the Phantom Ruby as a "minifigure" is really misleading, and that gem doesn't even appear in Sonic the Hedgehog, it's from Sonic Mania."

Looking at the piece count it seems cheap, but TBH considering the actual contents of the set I was hoping for something more like $50 or $60. $70 isn't bad because it has a lot of pieces, but the pieces are pretty small and the model itself doesn't seem particularly substantial.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

A nice set with a niche audience - just the right type of thing for Ideas in my opinion. It's okay for a set to not appeal to everyone.

However I'm very surprised they didn't seize the opportunity to use a tonne of the new 1x1x2/3 brick that's in one of the Chinese New Year sets, to make the chequered pattern. It would have made it less tedious to build, and a lot of people would have bought the set just to get that new element in large quantities.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Too many stickers really, but still looks good fun

Gravatar
By in Brazil,

Always good to see gaming-related content from Lego, of course I'm going to buy it as soon as possible. Will be released shortly before the Sonic 2 movie, so it may help with sales.

Also, I love the current Super Mario sets, but I really hope that minifig sets like this one arrive later this year along with his movie.

Gravatar
By in Austria,

Good gods, do I hate the black boxes.
This is the worst so far.

Fun set though. Nothing great, and seems kinda shameless showing off the extension pins on the box.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Not for me. Yet another set that takes up space when there are too many sets already. Does not look like a great build either. And not really a Sonic fan. Happy for those who do like it and happy to be able to say no since you can’t get everything they throw out there nowadays anyway.

Gravatar
By in United States,

$70 seems a lot for a build of this size. I know there are a lot of smaller pieces that make it up, but that doesn’t mean it feels substantial. And with only one true mini figure, it’s disappointing.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Love the brick built side scroll. Def. would love a Mario set like this.
With the mini figs. They’re supposed to have a unique/custom mold or print to be considered a mini figure imho.
Here there’s only 2 mini figs then, Sonic and Egg-Man.
What’s with the 18+? This should be like 8 on up.
And get rid of that black background packaging! Jeez, sucks the life out of the set.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Looks like a good display set, but the fan submission looked to me more like a 10+ playset. I know the Ideas team frequently changes things and when they do it's often with the advice and consent of the fan designer, but I'd be interested to hear the reasoning behind this change - if there is any besides "18+ consumers have deeper pockets".

Pretty underwhelming build for an Ideas set. Lots of stickers, lots of stacked plates, just meh all around.

Hard to believe it's that many pieces!

Gravatar
By in United States,

For those of you unhappy with the Eggman head, there is a very easy solution to fix it, but you will have to use some Chinese brick minifigures. Search "Sonic Minifigure" on AliExpress. It technically is not a knockoff of Lego because Lego never produced these figures.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I guess the Dr. Eggman in the production set shown is a truer reflection of Greenhill Zone in Sonic 1, but I think the one in the robot Eggman in the original ideas submission beats this one hands down.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Having grown up with the original Sonic game and not having this weird paranoia about stickers, this is a definite buy.

Gravatar

Stickers for faces of characters? I thought we were past this point.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I don’t think the people in this comment section realize that almost al the recent ideas sets are 18+. It for some dumb marketing reasons, trying to appeal to an older audience

Gravatar
By in United States,

I think everyone asking about 18+ needs to look at the last 2 years of ideas sets. Lego is using ideas to make one off display pieces that are at least partly intended to appeal to adults. Kids will buy things that are marketed towards adults. Adults are less likely to buy things marketed towards kids. (Hardcore Lego fans on this site notwithstanding). Even Sesame Street was "18+".

When they intend for something to be sold kids, it tends to be part of a theme with many different price points available, and is probably attached to media properties owned or licensed by Lego. (I e. Ninjago, Friends, City, Super Heroes).

Gravatar

Here's hoping the modular design and removal of so many elements means more to come.

For goodness' sake LEGO, hire a copyeditor already! The writing in these press releases is becoming increasingly more inept. The punctuation is all over the place, the sentences are poorly structured... it's a darn shame.

Gravatar
By in Belgium,

Price per piece seems ok, but price according to its size....

Gravatar
By in Canada,

This looks like a fun set, and the price is right! :)

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Let's be very clear:

1. There is ONE minifigure in this set.

2. LEGO needs to create a new term like 'brick built minifigure' to describe the rest.

3. Indeed if 'Crab' is a minifigure, then all of those tiny CREATOR brick built birds and dogs over the years are now also minifigures and need to be retroactively re-categorized.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

That being said, put me in the camp of this being a pretty cool set with decent value by LEGO standards. Saying this, I may be biased as I still have my Sega Master System from when I was a kid, so I have a strong SEGA bias (those pre-Genesis SEGA years were lonely indeed....)

Gravatar

Aside from Robotnik, this looks pretty solid

All I can say is 'get used to it'.

A combination of phones and a concerted effort in public education (at least in N.America) to de-emphasize 'knowing things' (like how to spell, know your multiplication table, and know when things happened before last week) and 'content' means more of this in the future. I say this not as grump, but as someone who has worked in education for too many years (who's grumpy).

Gravatar
By in Singapore,

I'm reserving detailed comments for when the review goes up, but for now Viv has addressed Robotnik's final design on Twitter with a surprisingly specific and detailed answer:

"The original head design wasn't possible (stronger torso build, limitation of printing), and a new sculpt was not in the cards. The nose was originally a 1x1 plate, but had to be changed to a tile to add a bar between it and the torso for extra stability. It looks better in-hand."

LEGO traditionally uses the term 'character' to describe anything intended to represent an entity which interacts with minifigures, but does not comprise the two standard minifigure elements required to qualify as a minifigure.

On this occasion, the author of the press release has made numerous mistakes and sloppy use of the term 'minifigure' is just one.

We have offered to assist LEGO with press releases on multiple occasions, to no avail.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

The press release really doesn't make sense, what on earth do they mean when they're talking about a modular system and architecture? Maybe they'll do more levels if this set does well but I don't think the press release can say anything about linking with another set if the product doesn't exist yet.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

My wallet appreciates the fact that there's an occasional Ideas set that I don't have the slightest interest in.

However, if Lego had links with Atari......

Gravatar
By in Belgium,

Another "meh" ideas-project.
An easy pass (and look at those stickers - YIKES!!)

Gravatar
By in United States,

Nice set, but I doubt I’ll pick it up. My favorite Ideas set remains 21314 TRON: Legacy. Still wish LEGO would do a classic TRON set.

Gravatar
By in Norway,

Gonna build that crab and place it on a MOC crab shack next to my 70422 Hidden side shrimp shack :)

Gravatar

Fantastic set! Can’t wait to get it on the 1st.

Gravatar
By in Sweden,

I might be in a minority on this but I don’t think the minifig proportions work very well for Sonic, the torso is too tall and it looks off to me. Makes me more happy about the way 71374: Nintendo Entertainment System turned out. I grew up with Sonic so I love the subject matter.

Gravatar

Stickers don’t work for these 18+ “collector’s” sets, collectibles are supposed to look premium.

Yes, because unlike Mario this is mostly a display set. Mario is, by definition, a play set. The 18+ brand is for sets which are designed as a display set, unlike other sets which are designed as play sets.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

I really wish Ideas was utilized to only original ideas, and not sets based off existing properties. I can't help but roll my eyes every time I see the Ideas results, and half of them are video games, movies, or TV shows. Theres so many amazing sets we might miss out on.

One of the pictures in the press release showed connecting two copies of the set together. I assume each segment is modular so that you can design your own course. Although it would be rather disappointing if you are required to buy multiples of this same set to build up a larger course. Hopefully this will lead to a follow up set like Friends got.

And while I’m very happy with the Mario line, my kids absolutely love it, it would be very cool to see something like this for Mario as well. However I think given the current lines popularity it probably won’t happen. But why not Zelda or Metroid? Clearly I’m biased towards Nintendo!

It’s pretty infuriating. For example, the Saturn V set I learned was based off an idea that NASA came up with in the 60’s. The marble maze was based off a toy we had (and still have) from when I was a kid. The Pirates of Barracuda Bay set dates back a few hundred years to when there actually were pirates in the Caribbean, plus they even copied a theme that Lego did in the 90’s. And don’t get me started on the blacksmith set, that idea goes back to medieval times.

Lego fans just have a total lack of creativity. For once I’d like to see an Ideas set get made of a Quadrifublating Streamisider with Flaxlejuice.

Gravatar
By in Denmark,

Half that brick count got to be the stickers... Sad!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I guess we will see how the popularity of this set is with sales numbers (at least with wanted/owned here on Brickset).

I loved Sonic as a kid, but I will pass on this set. This was mentioned February of last year and now we are here and this is what they decided to go with.

I think it captures enough of Sonic world, but it doesn't capture my attention at all.

Now let's get a Crash Bandicoot and my childhood will be complete (oh yeah and a Mario minifigure, not whatever that thing is called they did release).

I do agree with this, but not so much for this set. I mean, I can't think of another game-related Lego set that is anything like this, so it still counts as a fresh idea. But for the TV-shows, absolutely. Nothing wrong with more of those sets, but after the TBBT-set, does Lego still need "Ideas" to rehash the *exact same idea* with another IP? Same thing with all of the rockets and castles making it to 10k. It has been done before, if Lego thinks they can make money with more rockets or castles, they don't need Ideas for that. Ideas that are too similar in concept to sets that have been done before should be excluded. Now so many really creative ideas are completely overshadowed by nice but unoriginal MOCs that even when they get chosen won't be anything like the fan design.

But like I said, I don't think that goes for this set. It's not the greatest idea ever, but at least it is something we haven't seen before.

Gravatar

No Tails or Knuckles? ‘Connects to other Architecture sets’? Yeah, this was a letdown. Plus, Eggman looks terrible.

I am the only person I know who doesn’t buy his kids calculators and makes them use a paper dictionary, all because I think times tables and the alphabet are important. Solid baseplates to build on, in LEGO terms.

Never in my WILDEST dreams did I ever think both Mario and Sonic would be on the same console, let alone be available as LEGO.

"Modular build, which can be linked to other architecture sets"

The extremities of the set have the same height, IMO LEGO has plans to release more Sonic sets that can be connected to each other, representing different levels and games, in case this first Ideas set proves successful. I think the suggestion of linking to 'other architecture sets' is an attempt to justify the connection pins without revealing the intention to create a new theme (e.g. Minecraft, which also started on Ideas).

Gravatar
By in United States,

Really hope I can get my hands on this someday. I've seen a few people complain that they changed it from a Sonic Mania set to an original Sonic the Hedgehog set but honestly... I don't really care. The original game is much more iconic and the only piece from the submission I'm bummed was axed was the giant Eggman mech.

That said, this Eggman is pretty... ooooof. The original looked so much nicer and used a similar amount of pieces. Why change it?

I hope those rumors of a LEGO Gaming theme are true. If so this'll go great with the full collection!

Gravatar
By in United States,

This set is poor overall. I give it a 'C' grade. It's an okay build of a niche IP and it's just not very interesting looking.

Gravatar
By in United States,

^ Sonic the Hedgehog is not a niche IP...

Gravatar
By in Australia,

What’s 18+ about it ?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Looking at the official pictures, the set is built in 3 sections that can be arranged in any order. Buy more than one set and you can arrange and re-arrange it.

Gravatar
By in Austria,

Will the minifigure be the same as in the dimensions set or will it be different?

Gravatar
By in United States,

^ This particular Sonic minifigure is a different shade of blue, as far as I can tell from the photos, and printing has been added to the sides of the legs. The eyes are also black to reflect the classic Sonic design, as opposed to the green eyes from modern Sonic that the Dimensions minifigure featured.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

^ And the printing of the smirk has gone from the right to the left as you face the minifigure.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

I wonder if there will be a new CMF serie coming up late 2022, wich contains the following figures:
• Sonic special edition
• Dr. Eggman minifig. (Like they did the Hulk or so…)
• Miles “Tails” Prower
• Knuckles
• Shadow the Hedgehog
• Rouge the Bat
• Cream the Rabbit
• Espio the Chameleon
• Big the Cat
• Charmy Bee
• Vector the Crocodile
• E-102 Gamma
• Fang the Sniper
• Black Doom
• Silver the Hedgehog
• Metal Sonic

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Interesting display item for the 18+ fan group, not sure how many kids nowadays know who Sonic is or have ever played the game? I would have liked a sonic ball, with maybe a spring mechanism so you could try and do the loop, but looks like you would need a complete redesign with say roller-coaster parts.

As others have said, there seem to be too many ideas selected because they have a popular IP fan base (and so are already a safe bet) rather than something totally original (a bit of gamble) that no-one else has thought of before. Possibly they should split the website into something new and business-as-usual.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

@ambr, The thinking behind Ideas/18+ has shifted towards attracting PAFOLs (Potential AFOLs) who don’t currently have an interest in LEGO but can be drawn into it through their affinity for something else, in this case Sonic.

Ideas/18+ is *not* about appealing to those of us who have already been AFOLs for years and likely make up the majority - or at least a sizeable minority - of Bricksetters.

A sizeable portion of Sonic fans are younger than the PS3/X360 and grew up with Modern Sonic. The movie franchise is geared towards children. Sonic 1 is also available on a wide range of platforms including mobile, so there's at least a chance some of the younger fans have played it.

By in Poland,

I see four figures. Not a Sonic afficianado, so I'm a little confused about Phantom Ruby. Where is that? What is that? I can deduce the other characters/figures by their name.

What about Mighty the Armadillo, Ray the Flying Squirrel, Amy Rose, and Marine the Racoon?

Something like that I could be persuaded to pick up.

"^ This particular Sonic minifigure is a different shade of blue, as far as I can tell from the photos, and printing has been added to the sides of the legs. The eyes are also black to reflect the classic Sonic design, as opposed to the green eyes from modern Sonic that the Dimensions minifigure featured."
The minifigure is blue. Don't know what's up with the lighting, but as the Moto Bug's face is dark azure it can be deduced that Sonic himself is blue. The review by New Elementary has more true-to-life lighting which confirms this: https://www.newelementary.com/2021/12/lego-ideas-review-21331-sonic-hedgehog.html

I saw that earlier! Glad to see confirmation, as I was going back and forth on whether the shade had actually been changed or not. The minifigure looks great overall!

Oh boy! My kiddo is going to be excited for this one!

I am not that interested in this...
I do not think I voted for the Idea....?

Maybe I would have been more interested when the 71244 Dimensions Sonic was released?

By in Netherlands,

I like the Lego-ishness of the set. Not so smartphone-app focus brand-thingy as the Mario sets. And they do the minifigure well this time, not some blimp of bricks.
I miss the great images I see on Tweakers.net, they are not here, nor on lego.com. Strange. The styling of the whole press image interior is nicely done. To the furniture, decoration and even the clothes of the girl. Great ninetees vibe.

At first I thought it said 'Grange Hill Zone', what an Ideas set that would be for UK AFOL's! With flying sausage?

Sonic All Stars Racing transformed is maybe the best Mario-Kart style racing ever made. My kids know all the classic SEGA franchinese because of it, and now know what brand had the best music composers for game music and know their awesome tunes.

Ah, someone of taste. Also kinda funny to see "franchisee" misspelled as "franchinese" lol.

Interesting to see these Technic connectors on the right. Clearly they are planning with more sets from other zones to come.

By in France,

I love it. As a Sonic fan since well... Sonic 1 (yeah I'm that old) it was a day one purchase for me and I can't wait to build and display it.
And I hope we'll get more sets with other levels and key characters/ennemies like Tails or Knuckles in the future
