Wait a minute… I might actually acquire this!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Its beautiful!!!!! Finally, a good Mando set, it has certainly been a while. This is a day 1 buy along with the Lambo revealed yesterday

Gravatar
By in United States,

I know a lot of people have been waiting for this one! Curious as to the function of the floor mechanism.

Gravatar
By in United States,

It's the Dark Trooper Battle Pack we've all been waiting for! Good on Lego for making this figure more available at a much better price point.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Sweet little hallway vignette. Count me in.

It looks similar to the function in 75216 Snoke’s Throne Room that simulates a force pull / push.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Wow, that is STICKER topia!! Cool set but man, gonna be lots of stickers....

Gravatar
By in United States,

Oh my word! Yes! I want this, being a fan of Dark Forces. This is a total surprise to me. Apparently everyone else knows about it’s release but me.

I count 14 stickers, in total, might be a new record for a set (excluding speed champions) under 200 pieces lol

Gravatar
By in United States,

oh that isn't that good of a price per piece ratio

anyways I'll buy 3

Gravatar
By in United States,

Looks like these dark troopers don't have the same print as the one included in the light cruiser

Gravatar
By in Brazil,

Love it! Day-one purchase for me!

On a side note: Lego could launch a 1x6 curved slope to replace those two 1x3 ones above the door. It’s be a useful piece! I find it really frustrating when we have to apply stickers to these parts and there’s that ugly gap in the middle. The same happened to 75978 Diagon Alley, but in that case it’s a bit worse because there are instances where two circle segments need to be aligned.

Gravatar
By in United States,

It's a nice set with at least one good play feature, but too many stickers. Not to mention too expensive. The price might've been warranted if some pieces were printed and we got a unique damaged dark trooper minifig. I'll wait until it's 20% off on Amazon or something.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Damn! This looks better than i thought! I knew i was picking this up right from the start but now that we have real images, i REALLY want this. Luke Skywalker looks great with that much detail. The Dark Troopers are exquisite figures as always. The hallway build is something out of my dreams. I love scene builds with play features.

Gravatar
By in Spain,

Necesito 3 o 4 de estos.

Gravatar
By in Brazil,

I will FINALLY get a Jedi Luke minifig. And some cool Dark Troopers too.

I just hope the US price is $19.99. If it happens to be $29.99, there's no way I'm going to pay R$299,99 for just 166 pieces here.

Gravatar
By in United States,

15 stickers! But I don’t mind. Great set with a lot of playability! I bet you could replace like with maul and put in some 332nd and 501st for a convincing venator hallway

Gravatar

I might be homeless come March 1st if they keep up unveiling these hitters

It could be a "Force Pull" mechanism

Gravatar

Shut up and take my money, Lego...

Gravatar
By in Malaysia,

Just need Luke's hairpiece & it's perfect. Anyway instant buy.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

So many stickers :( I guess most people love this for the minifigs?

Gravatar
By in United States,

Wait… a Star Wars set that doesn’t have a vehicle, what a relief. This looks good.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Wow, I was certain this would be one of those comic con things because of the generous amounts of minifigs (like ultron's throne), but it's going to be regularly available it seems. You get ONE Dark Trooper in the most expensive Mandalorian set and now we get THREE?! NIIIIIIIICE

Gravatar
By in United States,

Incredible! For army builders, you can build a full hallway. But it also works as a great standalone set! I have a feeling the Luke fig will go for pretty cheap online with the amount of these some people will buy :)

Gravatar
By in Austria,

that price is disgusting.

getting it once it hits <20€

Gravatar
By in United States,

The people in Britain need to wait till morning to see this set...

Gravatar
By in United States,

Yay dark troopers in quantity!

Also I like this Luke. He looks awesome.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Great set- would have loved if this was $20-$25 though

Gravatar
By in United States,

Not only are those troopers amassable, so is the hallway! I can see myself getting like 20 of these. and trying to find someone who needs 19 Lukes

Looks to me like the elevator spins around, the floor plate near it catapults a trooper to the side, and the thing that slides back pulls the floor out from under them??

Gravatar
By in United States,

Can we officially celebrate now? YES!!!

Gravatar
By in United States,

It's cool to get Dark Troopers at such a low price point, but $30 is way too much for this set. I hate how overpriced Star Wars sets are. This would be a great $20 set and a decent $25 set, but for $30 all of those pieces should be printed at the very least. I'll buy a couple, but only when the price is down to $24 or less.

Gravatar
By in United States,

A bit pricy for what it is, but I adore it. Nice little vinette with plenty of minifigs and great display value, based on one of the coolest scenes in the show. Wouldn't be surprised if people got a few copies to string together a longer hallway... heck even use it for non-Mando based Star Wars stop motions!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I love it! It would be cool if LEGO made a control room set to go with it.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Man, all those people who paid an average of $40+ for a single Dark Trooper on bricklink are about to be very unhappy...

Gravatar
By in United States,

This is awesome! We need a similar set with Vader and some rebel troopers from RO.

I think NickonAquaMagna said that the extra to pay the license? Either way, it's a cool setpiece, like New Asgard.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Cool set!!
Box art looks great!
Pity the Dark Troopers aren’t a little taller, like they are in the show.
Definitely will wait for a discount, but I fear these will be sold out constantly like the 501st Battle packs :(

Gravatar
By in United States,

I wonder what the odds are of getting a Dark Trooper in the 2022 Advent Calendar.

It looks as though the plate near the elevator rotates using the circle plate under the floor, and the slide (as has already been mentioned) simulates a force pull or push. I can imagine Luke force pulling a Dark Trooper and then spinning around to slice the trooper in half.

This set is wizard!

Gravatar
By in United States,

The $30 501st set has been generally available at Walmart for $24, so that would be cool if we get the same result for this one.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Uh, spoilers?

Jokes aside, I love this! Both Luke and the Dark Troopers are good value, even if the build isn’t.

Gravatar
By in United States,

So I need two if I want to have the other side of the hallway?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Star Wars fans will buy anything ?? Wow a corridor! Aha this was a cool scene but not for me

Gravatar
By in France,

I really appreciate that trend from Lego to put new and unique minifigs in cheaper sets. This one is a good one to get the new dark troopers.

Gravatar

Looks pretty close to a 1:1 ratio of stickers and pieces…

Good morning!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I ... did not care for this scene. I seem to be in the minority in that, but I still I'll likely get the set, although somehow i have the feeling it'll be hard to come by, thanks to bulk buyers.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Gosh. I can see at least 10-15 stickers in this set. This is going to be a tedious build.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Who cares about stickers? Can always leave them off - wouldn't reallly detract from the scene.
Dark Troopers, yea!

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Love the set, but I threw up a little in my mouth seeing that RRP.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Given how Lego are normally so hot on leaked sets how do this German retailer appear to get away with doing it time and time again?

Actually no, they are the same. There is an error in the box art: the torso is put on backwards. If you compare the one that has its back showing you can see that it's the same as the front of SW1161. In the top image it's fixed.
Source: JB Spielwaren's video.

Gravatar
By in Russian Federation,

It's a grey corridor covered with stickers.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Steep price for four minifigs and a pointless bit of corridor.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Great, another mistake on a SW Set. This time it's more than just a logo and the box art front+back and the instruction cover show the DT torsos assembled backwards. Only the best is good enough in a galaxy far far away.
P.S. And there are 15 stickers in total!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Yes too many stickers and a lame corridor, but still love it and TLG delivered what many fans asked for. So v happy. It do feel like they are milking us with a Eur30 price tag but sadly I will fall for it and get a few of these.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I’ll end up buying it at some point but it’s not very inspiring is it? Half a corridor with a rotating door.

Obviously there’ll be those that have to have a 100 base plates covered in dark troopers but that kind of thing does nothing for me other than empty my bank account.

No doubt there’ll be a white male with red eyes trooper, a black male with red eyes trooper and a brown female dark trooper with red eyes :-D

Gravatar
By in Australia,

People say the price is good at 30 usd, but for someone who lives in Australia, this, for me, is going to land around 45-50 Aud for 166 pieces and a rather small corrider, which does not really feel right (the fact that this is kind of a dark trooper battle pack does make me fell a bit better). I will probably have to wait for it when it goes on sale.??

Gravatar
By in Puerto Rico,

Oh I need to get this to complement that one Dark Trooper that came in the Cruiser.

Gravatar
By in United Arab Emirates,

For people complaining that it is just a grey corridor filled with stickers, I would argue that it is in fact only a quarter of a corridor...

... but Lego knows we will all buy it for the dark troopers. They do have a history of producing hallway battle scenes (7203 and 7204) at least this location is more developed. Mostly. I keep looking at that big open hole where the dark trooper chamber should be. Can we expect something to complete that?

Lego seem to have a real issue with quality control for Star Wars. They're just ridiculously inconsistent, yet their SW sets continue to be at a premium price tag. Honestly, they really need to improve, it's becoming more like Faulty Towers than Lego.

15* - appears to me as if the lift is two pieces, and thus has two stickers instead of one

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Been years since a jedi robes luke minifigure has been in a set. Probably the best version I have seen! Definitely a must buy for me!

Its a shame this version of luke wont make it into the lego skywalker saga game. Way more accurate than the version being used for levels like jabba sail barge

Added to my wanted list, will wait until Walmart marks it down 20% after 4-6 months. :-)

I'd love to see many more Star Wars sets just like this. Small dioramas of pivotal scenes. I prefer this to a battle pack, personally.

Gravatar
By in Belgium,

I must be completely retarded right now but what scene even is this? seeing Luke Skywalker i would assume it's from one of the movies, or is he in the series all of a sudden? and i've never heard of dark troopers :s

I'm not into SW, but as a sci-fi corridor part pack, it's rather cool - a bit pricey, maybe.

Not even close. A lot of Exo-Force sets surpass this one's sticker count by a huge margin! For example, sets 7701 and 7702 each came with 31 stickers.

Same with Racers, of course — 8125 is a particular standout, with 56 stickers total (13 for each car and 26 for the racetrack). But I figure if you're excluding Speed Champions in your comparison, it's only fair to exclude Racers sets as well.

For my part, I haven't seen The Mandalorian, so I don't have much context for this set, but it is certainly a phenomenal rendition of the sort of Imperial fleet interiors that are such a familiar sight from other Star Wars media. It really showcases how much the Star Wars theme has improved in its portrayals of actual scenery from the series (as opposed to vehicles, characters, and props).

Scenery in Star Wars sets from my own childhood like 4480, 4501, 7186, and 10123 were often little more than an insubstantial backdrop for minifigures and vehicles, and rarely even came close to truly evoking the mood or aesthetic of the on-screen settings, let alone the more specific details.

In that regard, sets like 75270, 75236, 75229, 75208, 75203, and 75169 are a vast improvement, and this one appears to continue that trend quite nicely. That said, I do hope we'll see some more prequel-inspired vignettes along these lines in the future, since the prequels were a big part of my own childhood, and I still have a lot of nostalgia for them.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

75203: Hoth Medical Chamber still holds the crown as one of the most overpriced SW sets, regionally at least it was €50, while $30 in US.

Looks like 17 stickers to me. Ludicrous amount for what will probably be a very popular set.

The corridor is pretty well made and can be reused in a diorama picturing a star-base.

That's cool and all, but let's be real - it will (sadly) sell out no matter how many you'd be willing to buy. And selling out a $30 set gets them more money than selling out a $20 set.

You're confusing turnover with profit. To extend your example, if the sets cost $14 or more to license, design, manufacture, package, ship, advertise and sell, they make $32 of profit if they sell you 2 at $30, but only $30 if they sell you 5 at $20. You're also assuming that just because YOU would buy five that EVERYONE would buy five, rather than just pocketing the savings and getting on with their life.

Lego will have entire teams of people dedicated to doing these sums with actual numbers. If they're pricing the sets like this, it's because it makes them the most profit - which frankly is good for us, because a successful TLG means it continues to exist.

Gravatar

But the profit for Lego will be the same or even a lot more ...

Just think if the real price is 18 (just guessing, maybe is less) and then the profit is ... :
If it’s 20, I’ll buy 5 sets // profit 2 * 5 = 10
If it’s 25, I’ll buy 3 sets // profit 7 * 3 = 21
If it’s 30, I’ll get 2 sets // profit 12 * 2 = 24

So you see, they always win.

A Tatooine ROTJ Luke would need to have a black sash instead of a belt and the cloth hanging down from his waist is longer in Mando than any other depiction of this costume.
Also the smaller cape which appears to be a black copy of Mandalorians cape is a weird choice when Luke had this huge and expressive cape in the scene.

I like that Lego apparently switches to the smaller capes as a standard as they are a better fit for most characters. But if realism is a priority I hope they will come up with a better solution for Jedi robes. Either make another style of cape that also covers the shoulders a bit and doesn'T flare out too much at the bottom or what I would rather suggest: Just make the figure a dark brown body or whatever color the robes have. 2014s Ben Kenobi had the right idea, they just ruined it by giving him tan pants, but the exact same printing on dark brown pants would have been a great representation. The new Ben on the other hand is nostalgic for Lego fans but not a good representation of the character as seen in the movie (we really need a new hairpiece for him or at least a switch to white).

Gravatar
By in United States,

This is cool to finally see!

Though I agree, this would work best as a $25 set at most. But we have even seen worse pricing if you can believe it. I will never forget how the 2011 Geonosian Starfighter was priced at $30 for 155 pieces, and only THREE figures. I never bought it out of protest and still don't have Cody.

This set I will buy because it doesn't quite reach that level, and I'm also looking at that hallway as a good diorama piece for custom SW Rebels vignettes, too, since it's the interior of an Imperial light cruiser. I believe they first appear in Rebels.

That won't stop me from also staging Clone Wars battles in that hallway though, since it is just good all around detailed (with the stickers) starship interior if nothing else.

By in United States,

@ShilohCyan:
The elevator is controlled by a Technic gear up top. The 2x2 round plate lines up with the slider, and is probably tied into it with a rack and pinion system.

@R1_Drift:
But people have been saying that about SW since 1999, even when the average price of World City was $0.11/pc to SW’s $0.09/pc. I’ve heard more recently that they charge what the market will bear. If people are lining up to buy it, the price goes up (note how CMFs cost 3x what they started at in 2010). I think they’re using Disney’s theme park pricing model, which is that you decide up front how many tickets you want to sell, and you set the pricing to drive market demand towards that number. Sell too many, you raise prices. Not enough, and you lower them. And how many people are going to look at this and decide to buy just one copy at $30, but who might look at scooping up dozens at $20?

@PDelahanty:
Why stop there? You’ve got enough parts to add a ceiling, you can put another elevator at the other end of the hall, and if you buy a third copy you can even close in those pesky doorways.

@mickywrx:
Consensus is 15 stickers. Where are you seeing 17? I see five across the upper section of wall (5), five more across the lower section of wall (10), one control panel by the elevator (11), two up above the elevator (13), two quarter panels behind Luke (15), with a possibility of one or two stickers on the exterior of the elevator “doors”.

@blogzilly:
If they make $5 on a $20 set, they profit $25 on 5 copies.
If they make $10 on a $25 set, they profit $30 on 3 copies.
If they make $15 on a $30 set, they profit $30 on 2 copies.

You can’t just go by straight MSRP. In reality, retailers generally take about half of the sale price, and manufacturer profits are probably a lot lower than the numbers I used. But at $1/$3.50/$$6, their final profit on your purchases would end up being $5/$10.50/$12, which is even worse. Driving down demand on sets like this also frees up production capacity to make other high-demand sets that people would buy, if they could ever find copies for sale.
