New images of March sets

Chip & Dale

©2022 LEGO Group

LEGO uploaded images of the majority of the March releases to LEGO.com yesterday, so I've added them to the database here. Among them is this previously unannounced BrickHeadz set 40550 Chip & Dale.

To make it easier to find yet-to-be-released sets for which we have images I've added a menu item to the Browse menu, Forthcoming sets, and also took the opportunity to add more links to the Browse landing page to make it easier to access the sets database on small-screen devices, on which the main menus do not expand.

FYI @Huw - the SQL code is visible on the Forthcoming Sets page...

Will they ever have any new DC sets that aren't Batman?

It's pseudocode and it's shown on all advanced query pages to logged in users only. It's useful when constructing your own, or to see how others have been made.

Definitely getting 11018 for obvious (to me) reasons. FYI it'll be the next cheapest way to get yellow leaf elements since last year's Play Cubes.

11019 includes a large number of small splat gears, some medium ones, and one large one. As well as a red crab to support a fish build that would not have fit in 11018 due to moving parts... I will probably end up skipping 31128 for this reason. The splat gears are of particular note as I was on JK Brickworks' livestreams recently and we were discussing his use of splat gears to simplify his builds. He got his from B&P, which isn't available here so I'd happily grab a Classic box or two!

May eventually invest in a green or blue baseplate now that I've started collecting LEGO Minecraft. I hope the refreshes come with price reductions in my country as well to match the white one!

Friends sets great as usual.

Not sure if any of the Technic sets are good for parts. 42133 has a great color scheme, though.

Ah, ok, didn't realise it was a feature :-)

Might be good to put a little box around it and perhaps a small comment saying that's the currently used query - to avoid this confusion. It does look a bit like a debug statement left in right now because it's so bare without any context :)

I would really like to know what the difference is with the base plates to cause a relaunch. Maybe a different plastic mix?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

@Huw I see that the postcard sets are listed in the upcoming sets page with the note that they were cancelled for unknown reasons. Do you know if this is a permanent cancellation or just a temporary pause?

By in Australia,

ok, they're cute.

I also really like the forthcoming sets, very handy, thanks !

Yup, I agree - the "Forthcoming Sets" menu item is really useful.

I was hoping they were going to be new, thicker baseplates. Doesn’t appear to be any different.

Much appreciated list and link! 76399: Hogwarts Magical Trunk is missing though, also to be released in March.

I grew up watching Chip and Dale's Rescue Rangers . . . but I wonder how many others loved it? It certainly was never as popular as Duck Tales. Definitely strikes me as a more obscure show . . . but maybe not? I wonder if we will get sets from the other Disney afternoon shows of the late 80s like Tale Spin, Darkwing Duck or Gummi Bears?

By in Belgium,

I "detest" brickheadz!

No, no, it's not that bad, i even like the chip & dale fellas, but since people are bluntly speaking their minds here lately, i had to come up with something. And no i have no interest in buying these, although i loved Rescue Rangers back in the day. I'd just love the idea of seeing a monty and zipper here someday.

While Duck Tales was awesome and epic, I may have preferred Rescue Rangers myself. Tale Spin and Gummi Bears are also great, but DT and RR are the best of the Disney Afternoon IMHO. I will freely admit to playing their theme songs for my kids on a regular basis. And watching with them when they're just a little bit older.

It was rumored that they’d do one with Shazam and Black Adam but they said that’d be a March release so it’s super unlikely by now.

By in Russian Federation,

Oh, it's Indiana Jones and Magnum P.I. as chipmunks in Lego form! Kinda random, but okay xD.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Alright, LEGO, where the heck is the Darkwing Duck BrickHead? Regardless, Chip & Dale look great! I can only hope that this and the DuckTales set are just the beginning for Disney Afternoon BrickHeadz. Ones based on the more recent Disney Television Animation shows would be awesome, too!

As much as I want Phineas and Ferb, it may be too difficult to represent due to the awkwardly shaped heads. But Gravity Falls would be a great fit...

By in Canada,

I really like that Chip and Dale set, I think they look great, easily recognizable for who they are, and fit the Brickheadz mold. If I didn't already have too many sets and not enough space, i'd grab that one to line up next to the DuckTales gang

Nice new site feature, if not for it I might've missed the Lamborghini Countach!! So exciting, mines instantly getting a Transformers style color scheme

I read somewhere, that the difference is they are not packed in plastic wrap but paper wrap. Not sure though.

Ch-ch-ch-Chip and Dale, Rescue Rangers!

Now it’s in your head too.

Ok, so apparently there is a Rescue Rangers movie for Disney + in the pipeline with Andy Samberg and John Mulaney voicing Chip and Dale . . . so maybe this isn't as obscure of a release as I first thought.
But regardless, keep the Disney Afternoon sets coming . . . I too would love a Darkwing Duck . . . and how about adding a Launchpad or Webby to the DuckTales Brickheadz?!

Based on the images they seem to have see-through windows, if it's paper either they're not actually windows (i.e. the "baseplates" you see are just printed on the wrapping) or the windows are really holes and the baseplates are significantly exposed to the elements and thus vulnerable to damage.

@SinKiller_Nick:
I watched this, Ducktales, Talespin, and Gummi Bears, but the best was Darkwing Duck. Darkwing is the only thing that outnumbers Batman in my T-shirt closet. I want to design minifig-scale models of the Thunderquack and Ratcatcher.

@TheBrickPal:
Darkwing, Negaduck, Steelbeak, Bushroot, the Liquidator, Megavolt, Quackerjack...

I love everything you just said. Though Darkwing was from my father’s generation, I recently watched through most of the show, and I would buy a DD Brickheadz in a heartbeat. Or even better, a CMF Darkwing.

Really useful adding a "Forthcoming Sets" filter. Can see myself spending a lot of time there!

@Cooliocdawg:
I have as much as they’ve released on DVD. Unfortunately, they were churning out season box sets for a few of those shows simultaneously, and just stopped with one unproduced box set remaining on at least a few of them. Specifically, I think Ducktales, Rescue Rangers, and Darkwing were all one release away from being complete. At least one of those other two shows did get its final box set during the last few years, but not DW. No, for him the news is worse. There’s an episode that would have been on the final box set that appears to have been banned from syndication by Disney. It may be what’s holding up the final release, or it may just end up being excluded from it if that’s not actually the main issue.

They did make a reboot of Ducktales a few years ago, and it was actually pretty good for a show that felt completely different from the original series. The nephews actually had distinct personalities, for one thing. With the exception of Goof Troop, I think every single Disney Afternoon series got a cameo. There was an episode that involved the juice from Gummi Bears, and included a silhouette of the characters. The Rescue Rangers’ airship flew across the screen in another episode. There’s an entire episode (maybe two?) with the cub from Talespin (now fully grown and in charge of the airline) fighting Don Carnage. And there were several episodes that worked Darkwing Duck into the story, in a really bizarre way. The original DW series is a show that Launchpad watches in the reboot, and the character gets recast, with the original actor (voiced by the original voice actor) turning into Negaduck during his struggle to reclaim his role, and the new actor ends up actually becoming Darkwing in real life. Some of the other original DW villains end up being actual villains in the reboot Ducktales world, too.

The rebooted Ducktales is actually what got me into the og shows! I watched it on Disney+ and DD was in the recommended section, so I started watching it. Darkwing is now one of my favorite cartoon characters of all time. I actually really like how they brought him into the rebooted universe. I would love for him to get his own show as a spin-off if the new duck tales.

I want the LEGO brick under the foot of evil! OK, maybe not catchy. DW's never were, really.
