Technic McLaren teased
Posted by Huw,LEGO has just posted a teaser on social media for a forthcoming Technic McLaren Formula 1 car which we believe will be numbered 42141. A full reveal will occur 'soon'.
The vehicle carries a colourful livery so should make for an interesting and vibrant model. I've added a photo of the real thing after the break.

Oh boy what color(s) will it be! Lego please stop for a bit, I need to be saving money lol!
Considering McLaren are launching their new F1 car next week on Friday, I wouldn’t be surprised if the set is revealed during the launch event.
This could be great!!! But although I do love the current McLaren F1 colours, I'd rather go back in time to the fabulous Marlboro colours from the 80's.
Does anyone has (seen) the great Lego F1 cars which are made by Italian Luca Rusconi (RoscoPC)? His creations are so fine!

Yes I do - they are a brilliant combination of Technic and system Lego (which I know not everybody likes) but they do look superb; I would advise anyone into Lego & F1 to check them out although they are not cheap to source all of the parts - reckon on around £350 - £500 per model and lots of fiddling about but the results are worth it. I am about to build my 6th, mostly Lotus but I also have the Williams and McLaren MP4/4.
Saw this and as an F1 fan, couldn't help but comment after years out. :)
Technically the picture isn't "the real thing", the car hasn't been revealed yet. ;) It's just last season's livery on the generic 2022 "show car". But yes, the livery should be something similar to that, maybe with a lighter blue.
I am not sure what car is going to be released, to be honest. The set listing gives it as the MCL36, which would be this season's car that will be unveiled on February 11. I highly doubt LEGO's designers had access to the development of the car, given the looks of it can change as they develop it.
I'd bet on the previous season's car, the MCL35, to be the actual set. Maybe with the one-off Gulf livery? Here's a pic for reference:

Is this going to be the same scale as the Lambo Sian and the Chiron, with the same sort of functionality, or something smaller?
Another one?
Guys, stop teasing the Technic McLaren! What did it ever do to you?
The Lego car under the sheet is hilarious.
As a huge F1 fan, this is great news. McLaren isn't my team of choice, but a Technic F1 car is a day one purchase for me. Hopefully they got enough intel to make the 2022 chassis and livery
Now THIS I'm excited about! I love the "big" technic cars.
I've always been a fan of the McLaren team, that sounds amazing. Would have been even more amazing if it was the MP4/4 from 1988, but no chance of this happening due to the Marlboro livery. Still, I'm looking forward for that set, it is very likely that it will be the MCL36.
Now there's a name I've not seen in the comments for a while. Welcome back, @Alemas!

That ain't the MCL35 under the sheet. And you're right, there's no way they've had pictures of the real MCL36, but that doesn't matter. Given the scale and the medium ( and unless McLaren have found some bizarre loopholes) the reference design with appropriate livery is all they need.

Hey, I didn't actually expect you to remember me! :D
To be fair, I never left, I still have a look every week or so, without logging in. ;)
I hope it comes with a Danny Ric minifig.
But a minifig head is too small for his smile :)
No, let them include Lando.

They should bring back the Technic figs!
OT: I'm very curious how this will turn out. All we have so far is that reference design, and that has a lot of nicely flowing lines that will be very difficult to replicate with Lego, especially Technic. The color scheme should work pretty well though!
It is kind of interesting that they make a set of one of the "other" teams in F1, not one of the top competitors. Or Ferrari. But that obviously is based on previous seasons. Even when I obviously hope Verstappen will retain his title (and hopefully with a bit less controversy....), I'd love to see McLaren back in front, fighting for the championship again. They've been away for way too long...
Ah, missed opportunity here. Nobody will care much about this model in like 5 years, unlike McLaren F1 model, if the would decide to make it instead.
There was a tweet after Lego’s post but from McLaren with Lando in (https://twitter.com/mclarenf1/status/1489599689972461570?s=21) and you can just about make out the front nose. It does look pretty close to the car on Lando’s Twitter page which I think is the same as the one Huw posted but I don’t know the cars well enough to be sure.

You're right. It needs hugs.
I hope they keep all the sponsors on the model

Color? The color will be stickers... stickers for days and as far as the eye can see. ;)
I don't know cars, are McLarens supposed to be so black and tarp-y?

Only if they are printed.
That's one of rare technic sets from last years I'm really interested in.
Going off how large it is in comparison to the real vehicle, I'm thinking this'll be the same scale as the 911, Chiron, and Sian. At least I hope it is, since while those are great, an F1 would really spice things up.

And Luke, Han and Chewie as well... ;-)
I hope the scale of this set is the same as 42000 release in 2013.

Basically the whole crew of the McLarien Falcon.

Only, I don't thing it will contain a 8 speed gear box, and that's a lot of parts already.
And there I was, thinking I'd probably be able to skip buying this year's large Technic car...
Any guesses as to the size and potential cost of the set? I've long wanted a F1 car (Technic or Creator Expert) but I have a feeling it's going to be out of my price range.
I'm pretty excited about this one. I was worried that it would be one of the smaller scale ones like the recent Porsche Formula E. But it turns out it's going to be a larger more complex one. Looks similar in size and scale as the Porsche 911 RSR and Ferrari 488 GTE. You can see what it looks like here:

Damn, they realized their mistake and the video is now unavailable. I should have taken a screenshot. Oh well, they'll publicly unveil it in a few days anyway.

180$
@brick_mason:
I’m thinking it’ll be smaller and less expensive than the real thing, but larger and more expensive than a Tiny Turbos version.
