LEGO Ideas review results expected tomorrow morning
Posted by Huw,
LEGO has just announced that the results of the second 2021 Ideas review will be revealed tomorrow morning at 9am CET/8am GMT/3am EST.
34 projects achieved the requisite 10,000 supporters during the qualifying period last year and the announcement at ideas.LEGO.com suggests that "sets" plural have been approved.

I’m hoping one of the medieval things gets approved! It seems like there aren’t many niche and adult-oriented ideas for lego to choose here so I’m excited to see what they might choose!
I feel like the Boston Dynamics robot is going to win, and personally I hope one of the cabins gets accepted. I could see maybe the mini golf idea getting approved too though.
OK, I gave this list the time of day. The ones that stood out to me:
BTS "Dynamite"
Movie Set
Women of Computing
The Tavern Under The Snow
Working Mini Golf Course
Aircraft Engine Workshop
I hope at least one of these wins.
A-Team!
Minas Tirith would be great since Gondor is a huge area of LOTR that didnt get any sets back in 2012, possible too if they wanted to cash in on the new series on Amazon. not sure if it is likely though.
A team van and KITT would also be fun to go alongside the DeLorean and Batmobiles as a fictional vehicle shelf
I’m rooting for:
Outer Solar System Explorers
Boston Dynamics Spot
Women of Computing
But boy, that A-Frame house is tasty too.
That GameStop sure is... something.
I have a hard time picking any of these as something they would choose to produce. That said, my guesses are never right anyways.
The minigolf really deserves to be a set - an original and incredibly well executed idea!
It feels vindicating that the number of projects each time continues to decrease. Raising the threshold because of a temporary blip which has been gradually decreasing would have done more harm than good.
I love the Basement & Sewage set.
Go Minas Tirith!! But I don't have much hope. I am more optimistic regarding a potential new line of sets based on the upcoming Amazon Rings of Power series...
Nothing of real interest perhaps maybe the cuckoo's clock. But still, not interesting to enough to buy.
The unchanging rules of Ideas create the nice paradox that more and more sets are getting into the review phase but fewer and fewer of them are truly worth considering.
I want that jet engine, it looks amazing! Also I want to steal the design for a misfortune's keep moc.
Rooting for the Boston Dynamics bot. Not because I have any particular understanding of electronics, I just think it's weirdly cute.
My favourites are "Floating Island" and "Nyhavn - Copenhagen, Denmark". If these ideas were released as official sets then I would purchase them without a doubt. However, I think they will not be selected. The tensegrity structure of Floating Island may be too tricky for LEGO to implement in an official set. And I guess that Nyhavn will only appeal to a very limited audience. Whatever the outcome will be, I am looking forward to the announcement.
Wow, nice to see so many strong entries that aren't tied to movies or TV!
My favorites in sequence:
• Working Mini Golf Course – Fully Playable!
• Outer Solar System Explorers
• Women of Computing
However in this round, there is nothing to "pull your hair out" about ...
The only one I'm remotely interested in is Minas Tirtith because... Lord of the Rings.
But it'll never happen. So good luck to the rest of your, for your desired sets.

these ones are so so SO much better than the Third of 2021 Those were just so annoying of how large and artsy they all were trying to be

Fool of a Took 's hope
Only Mini Golf is worthy calling Ideas set. Maybe alongside with House of Time.
Congrats to all designers. I like most of these very much.
Personally I hope for the medieval fortress, the Imperial Island Fort or one of the medieval taverns. The medieval harbor could also be a very impressive set if they add an extra and bigger boat. I like the watermill but it feels a little too similar to the blacksmith.
Can’t wait to see these on Bricklink next year!
Minas Tirith
JAWS is so going to win, sadly.
Would so have hoped the IMPERIAL FORTRESS or any of the MEDIEVAL sets would have won...or LOTR, og LOG CABIN.
Basement & Sewage would open a very interesting lower layer of interaction with any city up above. Another winner is the Boston Dynamics pooch-robot: and it works?? Since I'm a modular building freak, just about all other entries are great picks for a third spot, the Copenhagen canal or the movie-set leading the bunch. And how about the A-frame cabin and the Medieval tavern? Honorable mention: the tensegrity Floating Island!
Minas Tirith or Tavern Under the Snow!
Head says lifeguard and women of computing, heart says mini golf and a-team. No longer going to believe any castle themed ideas will get approved (but hope of something fro the anniversary).
Again, not going to get my hopes up for anything in particular until the announce. Tired of always being disappointed.
All or any of the medieval options. And the minigolf. And the floating island. And the house of time.
Damn, I'm easy. Lego, my wallet belongs to you.....
Some very impressive sets there ... and the BTS and Gamestop ones. I can understand that regardless of what it looks like BTS fans will have voted for the set but are there really 1000s of Gamestop 'fans' with no taste?
That aside, I love the Knight Rider, Scooby Doo and A-Team sets to make it (all my era) but suspect the Computer Women and Mini Golf sets are the most likely winners.
A day may come when the courage of LotR fans fail, when we forsake our hope for another wave... But it is not this day!

Based on the trailers that might be the only good thing to come out of the series.
As usual, only a few of these could work as mass market products in the IDEAS line:
Lifeguard's Shack
Women of Computing
Working Mini Golf Course
Scooby Doo Mystery Machine
The A-Team: Van and Crew
Lifeguard and Copenhagen would be my choices as they're the ones I remembered I liked once I got to the bottom of the massive list!
My prediction is that I will be disappointed. But years from now.... maybe Bricklink Designer will sell some of these.
Love the House of Time. Minas Tirith is great, but monochrome. LEGO without bright beautiful colours is not something that excites me.

I really hope we get some new LOTR sets with the new series. The Return of the King never got enough sets made. :)
I would buy Minas Tirith or Carl’s house.
Solid round with several good non-licensed submissions that can hopefully make it to a BrickLink Designer Program one day if they aren't picked tomorrow
For the LOTR series comments - I personally feel like a wave of sets for the show along with 20th anniversary LOTR trilogy are likely in the next year.
I have a hard time seeing the Airport Firetruck Rosenbauer Panther 8x8 as anything but DOTM Sentinel Prime. It's not quite the same, but it is quite close.
Imperial Island Fort would be a perfect match for Barracuda Bay (which now has retired) , and an island Fort is still different from a Ship set.
So LEGO Ideas designer Sam Johnson just told Brickfanatics in an interview about the possibility of the goat mold returning that “There’s definitely a 3D file of it somewhere,” he says coyly. “So who knows, maybe there’ll be a *return of the king*."
*Puts on tinfoil hat*
I think the satellites are the most likely. Although I really want Carl's House.
I need that House of Time cuckoo clock! Hoping for Minas Tirith as well but that is a lot more complicated with licensing. Maybe Warner Brothers will want to capitalize while the iron is hot before Amazon becomes more entrenched via their new series?
Playmobil released an A- Team van & cast last October (who knew), so that might be off the table, rights-wise
The main one I would want is Minas Tirith and I know it won't get approved. Spaceballs would be a solid choice (but again I highly doubt it would get approved).
I'm surprised they are hinting at multiple sets being approved. I know I'm not the only target for IDEAS, but I'm having a hard time wanting to add any of these to my wantlist.
But I guess that's the beauty of it all. Happy building
This year is KNIGHT RIDER year! We have 40th anniversary of KNIGHT RIDER! So when should we become K.I.T.T when not now?
These are all quite nice, but none of them really stand out to me (besides Minas Tirith but we all know that wont happen) so me and my wallet can casually observe from afar. Unless they pick bts and then I, and possibly my wallet, will become very angry and cause a row about them picking something so silly.
My top 3 choices would be (in no particular order): Imperial Island, A-Frame House, and Jaws!
I'd take any of the medieval ones, most preferring Medieval Tavern. Mini golf is also a fun idea.
There are some lovely creations here--that's for sure. The Medieval Tavern and the A-Frame Cabin are particularly striking. However, they also seem too large and intricate to be sold as sets.
Minas Tirith is a great build, but LEGO has not seemed interested in the Tolkien license for some time now. Carl's House would also make a great set.
I normally prefer minifig-scale sets, so I'm surprised to find that my favorite entry is the Floating Island. It's such an eye-catching design and would make a great display piece.
Looking forward to the results tomorrow!
I'd say the golf-course! It looks awesome!
A lot of nice models, very fgew I think will translate to actual sets.
There's the usual collection of no-hope medieval & modular builds.
The lifeguard shack looks more like a GWP size model.
I think the Floating Island, Boston Dynamics & Mini-golf represent the most original ideas here, and are my tips for selection.

They also have a James Bond Aston Martin, so wouldn’t conclude anything from that.
Are we doing "Women of _________" again? After the first Idea set (which was great and I bought), I thought the rest were copycats and patronizing.
we better get space GameStop
Wish people would stop voting for stuff that obviously isn't getting made. Like... GameStop, seriously? Who is that set's audience?
I stated when the review was announced, that this was the easiest one to predict, and I still stand by it. Up until the last review, my predictions were correct, and this review has a lot of writing on the wall, these are the three most likely:
1. Jaws
2. Snow White
3. House of Time
There is so much evidence for Jaws being selected that it seems like a guarantee.
Snow White would be a good pick due to next year (the year it would release) being the 100th anniversary of the Disney Company
House of Time seems like one of those experimental ideas LEGO would want to pick, it would not surprise if they extend it's review period.
The rest of these I do not see have a good chance, but I have been wrong before.
Lifeguard’s Shack- good build, very Robenanne-esque, kind of small but that’s not a liability
Spaceballs- great build but is the material too politically incorrect for Lego?
Costume Store- maybe I’ll see it on the Bricklink Designer Program, maybe I’ll see it from a clone brand, I think I’ll see it though
Movie Set- these building fronts are the worst trend of 2022 Lego: one of my favorite clone brands has announced like 87 of these and they’re all lame
Boston Dynamics- great build and IP, but it may normalize the idea of police robots amongst children
Minigolf- neat concept, has “legs” as adult desk toy
Brick Walk- Look, it’s a modular building! We’ve never seen one of those before! It’s not just that, though. It’s a modular building where the sidewalk doesn’t align with the other ones so it will always look like shit in your display. I may be overly harsh because that yellow on green font is a crime against legibility.
Medieval Harbor- as a kid I wanted set 6277 so badly I would have happily traded one of my parents for it, but it ain’t 1992 any more. Good build though
Gamestop- WSB is leaking
Traditional German Cottage- see ya on the Bricklink Designer Program!
Knight Rider- the scale is all kinds of wrong but good IP, also lol at Lego signing off on that much chrome
Basement & Sewerage- I’ve always thought it would be awesome to have Lego Ravnica with a 32x32x32 sewer with a Dimir secret base in it but this is a little bit too real world
The Nanny- It’s a generic modular building with an IP I’ve never heard of stapled to it. We might as well go for en vogue TV like Ted Lasso or something and slap a modular to it.
A-Team- Henkvd is on point with IP once again but I still don’t like the build
Although all very good, the standout one for me that I would buy would be the mini golf.
god I want that panther firetruck! its extremely unlikely, but I do want it!

Reddit Investors.
Fingers crossed for the Medieval Harbor, Traditional German Cottage, or Log Cabin. Up house would be nice too.
Imperial island fort and the 2 cabins interest me the most. But I know better and know they will not be selected. If I know Lego well, the Motorised model or the GameStop store aka the ones I have no interest in will be selected. If the cabins are indeed selected, it will be stripped down and happy colours be used to make it completely different from the original submission.
A-team or knightrider would be awesome if approved! 80’s nostalgia all the way!
Love the minigolf as well.
They COULD have done that lifeguard shack instead of the TERRIBLE one we got from City.
I personally wouldn't buy House of Time or Minigolf, but out of all these ideas these feel the most like an IDEAS set. They're well done and creative.
Imperial Island would be my top pick. I think a lot of people would buy this to pair with their Barracuda Bay set.
Other things I would likely end up buying:
- Anything LOTR, but I'll be surprised if this actually gets approved. Even if they did something along these lines later, I don't think they'd approve it as an Ideas set.
- Jaws. I like boats and I like creatures.
- Women of Computing. This seems like a no-brainer. Everybody loves a good minifigure pack.
- Any of the cabins. These all seem pretty creative / interesting to me.
- Nyhavn - COPENHAGEN, DENMARK. I love me a good microscale.
I know there are a lot of medieval fans, but all these models look oddly-scaled and overly detailed in my eyes.
Other thoughts:
- Solar system explorers is cool, but now that they're launching space items under Creator Expert (lunar lander, space shuttle) I don't know if they would approve this for Ideas.
- I doubt they'd do a remake of the Mystery Machine, even at a different scale. Scooby Doo sold poorly in the past. People want the figs, but does anybody want a giant-ass mystery machine taking up space in their home?
- Surf shack is cool, but probably too close to things like Surfer Beach House in the existing city line.
- A lot of obscure licenses here probably have no chance. Spaceballs, A-Team, The Nanny, Knight Rider, etc.... these aren't IPs that are going to drive mass sales for Lego. Observe the Queer Eye sets warming shelves everywhere to see what happens when they go too niche on these. I have no idea what The Nanny is, so it just looks like a random modular set to me with weird branding tie in.
I see lots of great LEGO Sets. Are they going to make a bigger version of "22. Knight Rider: Kitt And The Flag Mobile Command Unit by HenkvdL05"
I like the 34. Log Cabin, 33 The A-Team: Van And Crew , 30. The Apartment, 2. Working Mini Golf Course - Fully Playable!
Seems like a few " Medieval " sets can be combined into 1 big "land" of "Medieval". :-)
Hasn't Lego come out and said they won't approve modular buildings on Ideas? Even if they haven't, none of the many modulars have ever been approved. Why do people keep submitting them?

"
The bigger boat comes with the Jaws set :P
Minigolf sure looks like a clear winner for ideas set. Boston Dynamics robot is amazing. I really like that engine set, it's something different, interesting and cool looking. That jaws set looks way too similar to bricklink ideas fishing boat. Women of computing definitely deserves to be a set subject, i love that idea. And last but not least- KITT. If it's really 40 years anniversary then it's only fitting to produce it but not the truck, just the car in creator expert scale with some light Kitt.
A-Team and Kitt are contenders for grabbing money out of my wallet
I'm praying the scooby doo mystery machine winning this tomorrow. But I can also see the miniland golf too as its unique and doesn't require an IP. Good thing Lego already has the IP to the Scooby Doo. I absolutely love some of the other ideas, but rarely have we seen a building pass, or something that requires additional IP. Will see!
Doesn’t LEGO Ideas specifically disallow projects based on existing themes? I mean Return of the King was my favorite LOTR film so I’m not complaining but still. GameStop is a trash business and no offense to the creator but the build is one of the simplest and smallest out of these so I’d take the others over that— yes, even the BTS one.
Surprisingly I'd be interested in half of these projects.
Hoping that (at least) one of the following ideas will become sets:
1) Spaceballs — "Merchandising! Merchandising, where all the money from the money is made!" Hopefully TLG sees this as an incentive…
2) Jaws — just because it would be amazing to finally have a set from that legendary film; "We're gonna need a bigger [set]!"
3) Mini golf course — terrific concept
Any of the modulars would be nice, but unlikely.
I like the mini golf set and could see that being picked, it has no IP issues and would be a fun desk item like several other successful Ideas sets (ship in a bottle, maze).
Non-licenced:
Really hoping for the mini golf.
Maybe: A frame cabin, outer solar system explorers.
Nyhavn is really nicely done but I don't think it's likely. Lots of pretty modulars and medieval style buildings but very much doubt any of them have a chance (I would think that the blacksmith set means that they're less likely to produce another medieval set, not more likely, but a lot of people thought it was a bandwagon to leap on). There are some other nice ideas like the women of computing but not ones that would translate well into the type of set they're making now for Ideas.
Licensed:
I don't really care about any of them but I think either Scooby Doo or Jaws has the best chance. although licenced stuff is nearly always minifig scale so maybe not Scooby Doo. Perhaps the Up house?
Lifeguard’s Shack and Nyhavn please.
Thank you Lego, I’m sure you will do all you can to accommodate my preferences…. :-)
A lot of great MOCs (and a few not so great, looking at you Game Stop and BTS...), but not so many great *ideas*. To me, the Ideas theme should be about stuff you wouldn't expect a Lego set of, things Lego themselves probably would never come up with. That disqualifies at least 80% of the list, even when I do really like some of them. I mean, one project is literally a bigger remake of a set Lego has made just a few years ago.....
For me, the ones that stand out while also capturing the essence of the Ideas theme are:
* Boston Dynamics Spot
* Mini Golf
* Aircraft Engine
* Basement & Sewerage
* House of Time
And maybe not that original but I'd definitely buy it: Outer Solar System Explorers
As for the tensegrity project, quite an array of sets based on that very principle are already available from other (Chinese) manufacturers for a long time. Even when this Ideas submission might have predated at least some of those, it would make Lego look like the copycat...
Bit of a muted round, but saying that, I’d be happy if Minigolf or Jaws got through.

I wouldn’t worry about SPOT like that, it’s good for far more than police stuff.
In fact, I didn’t care for it at first, but after doing a school research paper on it I really hope it wins!
The modular style sets will never get picked; I don't understand why people keep voting for them. Same for the "Winter Village" style sets. It's a waste of votes.
I think the Imperial Island Fort will get a "Pirates of Barracuda Bay" treatment, and the women in space could also get voted in.
Not sure about the medieval ones, as we just got one but that might be the reason, we'll get a 2nd one so who knows.
A Team, definitely would buy asap
Knight Rider would buy as funds allow
The rest........maybe.
Seems like the movie set would be a great way to build out spaces between full modular buildings so it could grab more attention that way.
I'd love to see these made into official sets (in no particular order of preference):
8. Boston Dynamics Spot 1:4 Scale Motorized Model
12. Working Mini Golf Course - Fully Playable!
21. Outer Solar System Explorers
32. House of Time
@CopperTablet said:

Be glad you never heard of it. So many people still try to erase the voice of Fran Drescher from their memory....
Easy: Minas Tirith. I'd do anything for more LotR.
Well there’s not much support for my favourite, the panther, but I will push on! I do hope Lego makes it into a set, I love it. Knight rider would also be good!
A lot of really nice sets this round. I only voted on two of them, so of course, that's the two I'm rooting for.
I suspect I'd decide to buy anything they pick from this list, except the BTS set--possibly even the GameStop store! However, I doubt they'd pick any of the modulars, or any of the medieval sets. It will be interesting to see if they are willing to duplicate anything that was in the BrickLink Designer Program (Castle in the Forest vs the castle/fort sets, Great Fishing Boat vs Jaws, Movie Sets vs Wild West Movie Set) but if I had to guess the only one like that which might make it through would be a version of the Imperial Island Fort (and I'm still steamed I waited too long to get Barracuda Bay!). In terms of being a new direction for Lego the Mini Golf course, House of Time, and Jet Engine sets all qualify, while the Boston Dynamics set is less original but still very interesting. I wouldn't be surprised if TLG choses two of these sets; I also wouldn't be surprised if none were chosen, as they all seem larger than I think a good Ideas set should be. I do think several of the more scenic ones would be good candidates for another round of BrickLink Designer sets, though!
Crossing my fingers for the Mini Golf course.
Knight Rider, A-Team and Jaws for me!!! Sorry, I'm an '80's guy.
Knight Rider and the A-Team are the only interesting ones.
Unlicensed pass: Minigolf
Licensed pass: Jaws
Don’t forget that bizarre option of voting for Jaws as a Brickheadz set not long ago! I prefer the Ahsoka we got, but each to their own.
In my best Mel Brooks as Yogurt voice:
"Spaceballs - the LEGO set!"
Whatever the outcome, may the Schwartz be with you!
:-)
BTS "Dinamyte" and Floating Island.
Smaller IDEAS sets! It's gotten far too expensive overall.

Brickset wouldn't EVER lower their standards to do that. Plus LEGO gives them a free copy and Huw isn't going to risk their relationship with LEGO over some YouTube douche."
Lowering their standards? It was an idea. Anyways I was just letting people know, no need to be so aggressive. I personally am a fan of his content, he is consistent with good reviews, and he is a good person.
Aren't we still waiting to see if the Snow White set passed review from the last results?
Please, no more modulars. They are beautiful but after a while they look more of the same. I liked the A-Team van, it will look great with the other legacy cars.
A lot of these have absolutely no chance due to the limited appeal of the subject matter or the sheer size (although I also didn't expect Home Alone to get picked, so what do I know?)
Of those that might stand a chance, mini-golf and tensegrity are the only two I'd buy. I've been toying with the idea of making my own tensegrity model, but would wait for this one if it got picked.
I just want a small ideas set again, is that too much to ask? Sick of them all being several hundred dollars
Where’s the Dojo?!?
Honestly, they all look great - congrats to the creators.
I'll certainly be interesting to see which set makes it through !
Of the several that I really like, I can only see the Aircraft Engine making it as an Ideas set.
I'd be happy with Tavern Under the Snow as a Winter Village set though!
Was really hoping for A team and Jaws sets. Not to be
I would buy so many of this, I hope LEGO will pick at least 3. Congrats anyway to all of these great creators!
