New LEGO House exclusive set revealed
Posted by Huw,
A new addition to the series of numbered sets that are available exclusively in the LEGO House has been revealed.
40503 Dagny Holm – Master Builder is the third in the collection which follows 40501 The Wooden Duck and 40502 The Brick Moulding Machine.
It celebrates the achievements of the first LEGO Master Builder Dagny Holm, niece of LEGO founder Ole Kirk Kristiansen. She was responsible for all the model designs in LEGOLAND Billund when it opened in 1968 and continued to work in the company until the age of 70.
It will be available exclusively in the LEGO House brand store from today, priced at 599DKK.
The 1,068 piece model features her as a miniland scale figure working on a large-scale model of a giraffe in a workshop filled with small scale versions of her models, so it's all very meta!
Dagny Holm
Like 40502 The Brick Moulding Machine the sketch model was designed by Stuart Harris, below left, who's the chief model maker of the House, before being finalised by Markus Rollbühler.
One of the aspects of the model Marcus is most proud of is the working adjustable-height table, which apparently took 2 months to perfect!
It contains a number of exclusive printed tiles including one showing a pair of yellow shoes -- Stuart's trademark footwear -- following in the footsteps of Dagny.
You can read more about Dagny and the set at the LEGO House website.
We hope to be able to review it in the coming weeks.

That’s very sweet. What a legacy too.
I still maintain though with the pandemic and everything going on, it would’ve been great for them to sell these sets via LEGO.com; especially for us on the other side of the world!
For those lucky enough to get to LEGO House, is it known if the previous exclusives are still on sale there?
Last tine I went, in August of last year, I believe the duck was still available, as was the moulding machine of course. Less tempted by this one, to be honest.
Looking forward to buying this next Friday (together with 40501 and 40502 , and hopefully 40366 if it is not sold out yet) after taking part in the Lego Fan Tour which was originally scheduled in 2020… Maybe I will meet other Bricksetters there?

I would be in on a bulk purchase to share shipping costs, would just need a nice person in Denmark to facilitate getting them in the post.
I have all the Lego House sets so this will be a must buy for me.

I went in November and the Duck and Brick Moulding Machine were still available. The Dinos were too, but there was a promotion on them so they may have been selling off the last few
Finally, a lego house exclusive set that I do not wish I had!
It's a great hommage, but of all the LEGO House exclusive sets this one is the least appealing. I own all of them but I can easily pass this up. Why did it need a black base when the floor is already tiled and a solid base on it's own?
I like the LEGO mascotte on top of the cupboard. Except for the color of his shoes it is the exact same build that I created for my custom LEGO store :)
I may go to the lego house this year in the summer, so I may pick these up If I get a chance.
Ohhhh
The next lego house contest on Lego ideas will be with a lot better prize!
Is this the first appearance of a miniland-scale figure in a set Lego is selling?

It depends on your definition of 'LEGO'. 40115 was available at LEGOLAND parks in 2014
Wonderful thought. Set not as much.
The build is good, but I can’t help but feel it’s too self-referential even for AFOLs. Most fans don’t dig this deep into the TLG lore.

At the start of the Pandemic I know some of the House sets were on sale globally like the Treehouse, Dinos and another one I think
does the mechanism under the table allow it to hold in a tilted position?

Seems like it's not a tilt mechanism, but a vertical lift

Still cool. Very modern too, some of my colleagues here have tables that can adjust height for working while standing.
A tilt table would put me in mind of an architects table for drafting designs.

The other set was the model of the LEGO House itself.

Not to Australia unfortunately.

"Meh."
Appreciate your insight.
The table will hold its position, which was the difficult bit, apparently. It doesn't tilt: that would not be a particularly useful feature for a LEGO building table :)
Like how the SNOT technic is used here
I am not a fan of this set, but I understand the historical idea of it. I bet it will be highly valuable set in the future though.
