Muppets CMF revealed at last!

Posted by ,

Finally, weeks after they've been found in shops, reviewed by YouTubers, and advertised for sale by online vendors, LEGO has officially revealed the next collectable minifig series, the Muppets!

The series consists of 12 figures, which we've listed in the database.

Are you looking forward to getting hold of them when they become available on 1st May?

Yep, will get 12/12

By in Singapore,

These are awesome. They should have scooter instead of Janice as I don’t see a second set being done.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Scooter is a noticeable absence from this series. I'd like to see the rest of the Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem and a Sam the Eagle as well.

These look incredible though.

Don't listen to Waldorf and Statler though, like everything else, they think this series is terrible.

By in Canada,

This is quite literally the greatest thing alego has EVER done. I can't freaking wait!!!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Instantly my favorite CMF series of all time! I just finished a rewatch of The Muppet Show and can’t wait to get my hands on these.

It’s a shame that Scooter and Sam Eagle are missing, though. It seems like expanding the series from 12 to 16 and giving us Scooter, Sam, Floyd Pepper and Dr. Teeth would’ve made for a much more “definitive” lineup.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

This series would have benefited from the old 16 figs in a series...

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Better late than never I guess….

Gravatar
By in United States,

I would have liked to see them do Rizzo, as well.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Might pick up some of these for parts.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'll get some parts from these, but overall I'm not interested.

Gravatar
By in Puerto Rico,

Honestly, they fit into a SW/Marvel diorama.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Wait, they actually included the Swedish Chef? I thought he was cancelled or something... I'm not a Muppets fan though, so correct me if I'm wrong.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Hey! These aren’t half bad!

Nope! They’re ALL bad!

DOHHHH-HO-HO-HO-HO-HO-HO

Gravatar
By in Sweden,

They included quite a few new instruments... Goes to show that Vidiyo was an influence, and could have also benefited from those new pieces on this year's cancelled wave...

Gravatar
By in United States,

I want a Crazy Harry CMF if we get a second wave.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I found one of these at the store yesterday and bought it. Even though many people have found them already, I think it was cool I got to buy one before the official reveal.

I call that a 'medium' joke.

How's that?

It wasn't rare, and it wasn't well done!

DOHHHH-HO-HO-HO-HO!

Gravatar
By in United States,

When rumors came out about this series I bought last years Sesame Street set in preparation. They do not disappoint!

Gravatar
By in Poland,

Disney may ruined Muppets, but these bring me joy still.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Best CMF series yet. Already in need of a part 2

No, they shouldn’t leave out Janice! There are few female characters here as it is, and getting rid of half of what few there are wouldn’t be good.

Scooter should indeed be here, though. Ideally, there’d simply be more characters; 16 used to be the standard for a so-called “CMF” series, after all, and they’ve gone as high as 21. 12 is almost as low as it gets; IIRC, the only time they had fewer was with the Team GB series which had just 9, and that was for a region-limited special release. Adding Scooter, Floyd, Zoot, and Dr. Teeth would have brought the total to 16, and given us all the “core” members of the band.

But this is arguably even better, since it leaves more “essential” characters to fill out a Series 2! Scooter, Floyd, Zoot, and Dr. Teeth could be joined by Uncle Deadly and Sam the Eagle, say, for a starting six. Variants of Kermit, Piggy, Fozzie, and Gonzo could bring it to ten; I’d suggest news reporter Kermit, police bear Fozzie, daredevil Gonzo, and finally Pigs-in-Space Piggy, which would then naturally go with a Pigs-in-Space version of Link, plus Julius Strangepork, for another full twelve.

By in United States,

@david20009:
Miss Piggy and Janice are the only two females, resulting in a 1:5 gender ratio. Looney Tunes needed to dig up Petunia Pig and Lola Bunny to manage that, so at least Janice is well-known. However, that pretty much exhausts the list of recognizable female Muppets, while LT has a few that are at least recognizable, if you mention them to someone.

Expanding to 16 minifigs (or worse, the more recent 20) would really throw the gender ratio out of balance, since they’re already stretching to achieve 1:5 as it is. I wouldn’t worry too much about seeing at least one sequel series, since they can always put Kermit/Piggy/Fozzie/Gonzo/Rowlf in alternate costumes, there are three more original Electric Mayhem members (you missed poor Zoot), and it’s not hard to come up with four more characters to round out another dozen. Janice even has one major alternate costume, being one of the nurses in Veterinarian’s Hospital, which would maintain the gender ratio. It’s a third wave that gets tricky, since I don’t think they can pull off a third Janice minifig, and there’s really no other female Muppet that’s iconic enough. Maybe for a third wave they’d need to just double up on Miss Piggy. She’s the other nurse, plus they could do Pigs in Space, and they could have her and Kermit in wedding attire.

@devilhead:
If they do a second wave, I would expect Rizzo, like Camilla, to be an accessory for Gonzo. The problem with fitting him in for this wave is that every character needed a new head sculpt right off the bat, so there wasn’t as much freedom to make new accessories. Of the entire group, Kermit’s banjo appears to be the only new accessory mold. For a second wave, they’d be able to reuse up to six of the heads if they just make alternate costumes, which would allow them to make dedicated pieces for Rizzo and Pepe. Maybe even Robin.

Yes, and yes again. Can't wait to pick these up.

I am excited. These look great!

Between those Botanical sets being revealed and discussed on Reddit weeks before their "official" reveal, and now this, seems like Brickset's falling behind a bit, huh? Maybe it's time to get some new policies about "leaks"...

You'll find that all reputable fan sites adhere to official embargoes other than in specific circumstances, none of which were met in the cases you quote.

Please see https://brickset.com/article/52662/novelty-policy.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

No Pepe, a colossal missed opportunity.

Gravatar
By in United States,

The figures are great. The accessories aren’t as exciting as some CMF waves but that’s understandable considering the budget probably went to the new heads.

Hopefully they’re popular enough to bring a second wave or more Henson characters in general.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Nice of them to have an official reveal and release date after I'd already collected ten out of twelve of 'em.
Still gotta get my hands on Kermit and Gonzo.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I’m getting 14/12 - need an extra banjo and the bass guitar for assembly square guitar shop (it has every guitar made so far in it)

Hoping a series 2 will have the rest of electric mayhem.

Is there going to be a box of all 12 like Lego did for the Marvel series

Personally I’d love a Henson series - dark crystal, labyrinth (Lego Jareth :)), Sesame Street etc.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Found a lone bag in my local Target the other day, I got Waldorf. Didn't know if the register would block me from buying due to the reports elsewhere but I was able to complete my purchase. Nice that there are two complete Cup & Saucer accessories in the bag. I hope I can find more soon. There are some nice parts that can be used elsewhere so I'll probably get at least two copies of most of them.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I picked some up last week when I had no idea they were already out yet, one for each of my family! :] So stoked to see them in stock, we got Fozzy, Beaker and two Chefs. Glad to have them!

It should be noted here that TLG has no business ties to Jim Henson Company at this time. While JHC wholly owned the Sesame Street Muppets, ownership was transferred to Sesame Workshop in 2001. The regular Muppets were sold to the Disney Empire in 2004. Yoda was just contract work for Lucasfilm. No other Henson-created IP has been produced in LEGO form. At this point, probably the most well-known IP they have left would include Fraggle Rock, The Dark Crystal, and Labyrinth. Of the three, only Dark Crystal has had any recent follow up production, and that got cancelled after one season.

@Interstellarpig:
Floyd plays bass. Janice is lead guitar.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Struggled to get excited by recent CMFs but love these. amazing!

Gravatar
By in New Zealand,

Is ‘The Count’ a Muppets character or a Sesame Street character? Either way, would enjoy seeing him in a second release series.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@marinadominic12:
The Count is a Sesame Street character. While he could potentially appear as a minifig, it would not be as part of a Muppets CMF release, and there’s been no indication that there are any plans to expand on 21324.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Fantastic series, I’ll probably try to get them all.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Well how much more perfect could these possibly be?

Gravatar
By in United States,

I can finally build/add Muppet Treasury Island to my Pirates!! :D

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

They look good but I’m not really interested in this series. I love Muppets Christmas Carol but I’ve never seen any other Muppets shows. Wish they would do Star Wars CMF.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I’ve bought a handful of individual CMFs over the years, but this is a set that I may need to buy all of.

I believe they rebooted Fraggle Rock as well on Apple TV.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I can see a second series... Scooter, Rizzo, Pepe, Sam Eagle, Lew Zealand, Dr. Teeth, Floyd, Zoot, maybe Lips, maybe Walter, and I can see Kermit and Piggy variants.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

For a second series i like to see:

Dr. teeth, Floyd, Zoot, Scooter, Sam the Eagle, the News Reader, Rizzo the Rat, Beauregard, Sweetums, A version of Kermit with Robin (babyfig), a version of miss piggy (pigs in space maybe?), the Mah-nah mah-nah guy and the aliens who are with him singing that song.
The thing with so few female characters in the Muppets is that Miss Piggy didn’t accept other female leading roles. Maybe we could get a Skeeter or Jill with a advertorial plate saying Ocean Breeze?

Gravatar
By in Denmark,

Sorry to be the only one in the contra-choir, but: Nah, no thanks!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I might buy one of the figures.

Gravatar

I NEED that Beaker figure!! As a scientist myself he is my hero!!

The open side of Hooper's store indicates that there is/was a plan to expand on the set.

Of course it will depend on sales if they will decide to go for another set.

Like the Friends figures some of the characters got a keychain version. I don't know if that's related to how the set sold or Lego trying to get a bit more earnings out of the license.

If a second set isn't made it would still be nice to get a Sesame Street figure series.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Is this the first CMF series where none of the figures has a standard shaped head piece?

I think so.

Marvin from the Looney Tunes series has the standard shaped head piece.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'm probably just going to buy an entire box.

Nostalgia is a powerful drug.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@Feroz:
Sesame Street has been out almost 1.5 years with no hint of anything besides keychains. Setting up for a possible expansion may just be standard policy for sets like that, given past history across several themes (if for no other reason than that someone may want to combine it with sets from other themes, or MOC their own expansion). The Ideas team isn’t allowed to produce themes, so any additional sets would need to involve a different, possibly new, design team.

@bacon1986:
I’m thinking third, after Simpsons 1 & 2.

Friends (Central Perk) also was an Ideas set and the follow up Apartments set came about two years later with nobody expecting it.

I think most connection setups don't leave you with a building open like that. And the pavement is rather unique. I can't think of a set that connects to Hooper's store without some modifications.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

First Looney Tunes now The Muppets, LEGO you've done it again. I wonder how many Muppet Theatre MOCs there are built just waiting on the release?

Gravatar
By in Turkey,

Swedish Chef, that's me...

Gravatar
By in United States,

These are awesome! I really wish they would have done Rizzo as an accessory to Gonzo or something. 16 figures would have been perfect. We needed Sweetums and Sam Eagle so someone could recreate Muppetvision 3D in LEGO form.

Gravatar
By in United States,

As stated, these look great and highly anticipated. I was always a bigger fan of Muppets growing up (over Looney Tunes) and I would say LEGO must agree because these figures resemble the characters significantly better than the LT series. Maybe it's just the mold design.

Either way, I already have them pre-ordered for a good month. Can't wait until May.

Gravatar
By in United States,

The LEGO 'claw' now resolves the issue of how many fingers Swedish Chef has.

Simpsons CMF series 1 & 2 all had custom headpieces.

Don't forget Crazy Harry! And Uncle Deadly, the phantom of the Muppet Theater.

Gravatar

I sincerely hope you don't get injured / caught on fire / blown up as much as Beaker does in the line of duty for Muppet Labs!

"You were right Beaky, that WAS way too much gunpowder!"

Gravatar

@Murdoch17:
Ah, crap. You just made me realize that, unless they make a matching Beaker keychain, there’s no way to do a “headless” Beaker.

Gravatar

So can anyone tell me how the box-of-six SkU that they sell at Target works? Any way to guarantee i get all twelve?
