LEGO City citizens will have somewhere to shop in June

Grocery Store

After living on a diet of pizzas, hot dogs and other unhealthy foods for decades, the citizens of LEGO City will soon be able to buy fresh produce and cook for themselves.

In addition to having vegetables delivered by 60345 Vegetable Delivery Truck, they'll also be able to visit 60347 Supermarket and fill a trolley with carrots, corn, apples, baguettes, cherries and much more.

It looks to be the most interesting City set for some time, and one that's long overdue.

Ah! The return of 4-wide cars and car doors! This is a very “fresh” looking set. Nice job, LEGO!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Nice.

By in United Kingdom,

There's also a minifigure with a prosthetic leg!

By in United Arab Emirates,

The shopping options look pretty slim there...Half of the store space is loading dock!

Clean up on aisle one, the only one.

Still, great starting point for fans to complete. And I like the fig with the spring limb.

By in United Kingdom,

Oooh yes, really looking forward to this one - love the new prosthetic legpiece and trans pride flag-esque torso too!

That piece looks so cool! And I’m sure a lot of people will be happy to use that for their sig fig!!!

A modular roof would also be a great starting point for beginners. Surface and roof expansion for the advanced.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Interesting yes but 60346 will be more in demand despite being junior.

Gravatar
By in Italy,

I wonder if a supermarket will also be included into a future a Modular Building. The Green Grocer is old and overpriced.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

What's a shop? Is that what they had in olden days before delivery vans....

Gravatar
By in United States,

Too bad the customer needs to abandon his cart full of groceries on the parking lot as his car doesn't have a trunk/boot to store his purchases in :)

Gravatar
By in United States,

I’ll wait and see on the price. The school that already came out this year is a good example of another set that we really, really needed in Lego City at a price point we really, really don’t want.

I noticed that too- plus he's going to have to leave his kid behind...

By in United States,

All these farm to market sets look amazing! I was a bit worried with the first wave of City sets this year that all lacked much design effort and was waiting on the farm fresh sets. Well done Lego with this series!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I like the 'Be Ha-pea'!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Looks like LEGO is starting to take a page from Friends. Part of the reason the theme appeals to those who aren't the target audience is that Friends offers plenty of "regular" businesses, while City has been focusing on "action play" as opposed to town building. Thus, stuff like supermarkets, schools, post offices, restaurants, etc. are rare.

Set looks great! Albeit, I think ditching road plates and expanding the footprint would result in a bigger set that cost less.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I've noticed a recent trend of buildings not including roofs such as the school or now this new Supermarket. Many Friends structures lack roofs as well. I can't say I'm a fan of this style and hope the design of future buildings goes back to incorporating roofs...

Gravatar
By in United States,

I love the shopping cart!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Way to go LEGO for incorporating those road plates into a Must Have set. You have succeeded in destroying my ability to avoid them, congrats :)

Gravatar
By in United States,

If it’s anything like real life, this 404pc set will cost at least $100.

@monty_bricks:
Clearly he’s an athlete who can’t afford an everyday prosthetic in addition to his running blade, what with the outrageous prices he has to pay for whole food.

@IowaHawkeye13:
Shopping cart isn’t new. I think it came from Friends, but it was definitely available by early 2020, as I ended up buying a bright-green one to fill with toilet paper for the one display we did later that year.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Finally, the infrastructure is now somewhat manageable.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Amazing set! All the new parts are cool, especially the prosthetic leg! (Wonder how long it'll be until someone starts trying to use it for SW mocs) the inclusiveness is really nice. I love the loading bay feature too! The whole thing is great, aside from the car which looks backwards due to the grill on the back

Also the ATM looking thing seems to have a feature where you drop things through it and it lands in a crate

Edit: Oh, it seems to be a recycling station for bottles! Cool!

Gravatar
By in Germany,

They could have added the moon mission solar panels to fill up the whole roof and still be fold-able for play, but they chose the cheaper solution as always.

5 Minifigs. Road plate. Yup, price will cause outcry.Reminds me of the shopping street.

"Mr. Produce"? At this point the hit TV series is making fun of itself.

So excited for this. My vintage city runs on 4-wide, and a couple of these should work well together. Just wish I didn't have to buy the road with it since I use old roads.
Here's hoping I can get it 20% off as I know it's going to be expensive.

Gravatar
By in Poland,

I don't know why, but this shopping cart and corn knobs make me feel of playmobilsation.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I like this set, now here's the tricky part.. Who needs the Kwik-E-Mart?

Gravatar
By in Puerto Rico,

The only negative I can see of this set is the opened roof and back but those are very minor things against it.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@NatureBricks:
The police station isn’t full of whole food from Trader ‘-Goes. This is. Everything must be on sale to get the price down to $70.

Gravatar
By in Poland,

The last time i've seen 4 stud wide car was 1993 I think. It's sad how they simplified Lego City.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

City needs more of those small cars with doors.

Road plates do not add to the cost of the sets! This drives me nuts. You get four of them for $20 and other pieces. They were literally on Bricks and Pieces for $2.50 before LEGO destroyed the service.

Grocery Store 404 pieces, one road plate, five figures $70.
Police Station 606 pieces, one road plate, five figures $70.
Fire Station 540 pieces, two road plates, five figures $70.
School, 433 pieces, 1.5 road plates (one printed), eight figures $70

So you get 200 more pieces in the Police Station because...? Same road plates and number of figures?"

Yes, that's how fanbois rectify it! For some reason, people believe that for each 10 bucks spent, they deserve 1 minifig. That must mean in reverse, 5 minifigs in a set = 50 $/€ worth of value. Add a road plate, that's +20.
As for the consitency: It's either a mistake and some lowlevel will be demoted for this or they slowly get the idea that people don't buy a new fire station every year.
But a supermarket is new! It comes in June! Exits 12/23. BUY! BUY before it's gone!

Which isn't a bad thing. Playmobil has a lot better variety in terms of "town" sets. They also keep things other than "police and fire" in the lineup.

That’s a windbreaker jacket straight out of the 90’s. I first saw it in the school set from last year & was very excited as I had many a windbreaker back in the day.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I love this set and the way the new roadplates connect the City sets in a way that the baseplates never could. That said, had this been produced 15 years ago, I probably wouldn't have bought the Green Grocer for the kids either. It all works out in the end.

Gravatar

I love everything about this set, except for the color of the trolley, the size of the front forklift wheels, and the price.

Leaving out the 4 wides with bigger wheels or fenders :

2022:
30585 : Fire Patrol Vehicle
30589 : Go-Kart Racer
952201 : Policeman with car

2021:
30568 : Skater
60276 : Police Prisoner Transport

None had doors tho, the last 4 wide with doors before this grocery shop was in 60258 : Tuning Workshop

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

These City sets look great. Not too excited about the Stuntz but otherwise great job.

Gravatar
By in Poland,

I like the 4-wide vehicles and doors but why do they have to put tiles everywhere?

Expose those studs, this is Lego, it's supposed to have exposed studs so you can attach anything you can imagine.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Wait, a City building deeper than the width of the car included in the set? And not just becasue the car is just 4 studs wide? Maybe those road plates aren't so bad after all ;-)

Overall, looks pretty good! Apart from maybe the price, what's not to love here?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

It looks like City Food Market from 853921 have some new competition in town!

I didn’t even notice the trans shirt, that’s awesome, it doesn’t look exactly like the flag but neither does a lot of pride merchandise. The prosthetic leg is also great and I’d find a number of uses for it but until I find out how much the set costs I won’t splurge. A grocery store is a long overdue concept for a LEGO City set, though, so that might be enough to get me to buy it… unless it’s $60 or something.

Im talking about regular vehicles from last 15 years, not the polibag go-cart, or this abdomination from 30568. The car in 60258 is a Smart so that has to be 4 studs wide. And 60276 from 2021 and 30585 from 2022 are another example of what I'm talking about- of how City line has been juniorised and simplified since last year to fit with the new road plates. When the City line started in 2005 vehicles looked really realistic compared to all the town stuff I rembember from the 80s and 90s. And now we're back to these small, unrealistic vehicles, what is IMO a wrong direction.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Im hoping its around 50 USD (maybe I'm hoping for a miracle there) but I'm also glad there is not a cop or cop car anywhere near this set for a change...

Gravatar
By in United States,

Here's hoping that prosthetic leg gets a right-side version.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Equally good idea to the recent school, but much better execution and attention to details! Great job LEGO!

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Also love that the car has doors!

Such a small addition looks so much better and more finished than a 'Dukes of Hazard' solid panel...

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

That's a lovely Lego City greengrocer, now how about a butcher shop, and a fishmonger too?!?!

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Mkay, my bad. I didn't check out the picture of the back of the box. They sell some fish too. It's more sort of a minimarkt supermarket idea, than just a greengrocer.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Great set overall, but Friends did it a while back, so I don't really need it. Pricing may very well be a dealbreaker anyways.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@Lukasz64:
I made my Smart Car 6-wide, so it can wear two. If something goes wrong, and they have to deploy the 3177 mounted over the rear bumper, one of them will have to go alert Search and Rescue to come collect whoever had to be left behind…unless they want to risk riding on the roof.

This is what your local Instacart distribution center looks like.

Gravatar
By in United States,

This is a much more modern version of 1254: Shell Convenience Store from 1999. Only kit I have that is close to this one in my collection.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I really like the look of this set, it's something a bit different for the City theme rather than the usual police and fire sets. However, I've just seen on Lego.com that it is going to cost £54.99 which feels excessive to me.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@BrickAstley:
404pcs, but you have to remember that you’re paying the Unlicensed City tax on these sets.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Is anyone going to point out the fact the car is a nod to set 6655 from classic town?
