No goat, but a lamb... surely that'll make up for it, right?
Anyway in b4 "it's just a bunch of grey bricks"
Looks amazing.
Overpriced, but amazing.
Wow, better than i expected. Need time to breathe in all the details!
This set is a work of art. I love it!
Spectacular model. Will be a definite pickup once I have anywhere to put the thing (and the money...ouch). Love the massive scale.
Gonna have to see how it looks with the Fantasy Castle tower as an outpost. Or with Vladek's Dark Fortress to oppose it.
Not even one BURP,? For shame...
Both Castle and Galaxy Explorer look like great reimagining for the current era - very impressed with both of them
Wow… wish it wasn’t so expensive, but … Wow.
Looks awesome but the price is just crazy.
Just wow.
$400, oh lord. Beautiful set but financially irresponsible. So now I will cry myself to sleep.
This is a lot to take in all at once...
Love the variety of legacy shields
Great model but a bit more scaled down would have helped with putting it somewhere as well as the price.
Wow! They even found a great way to use the colour variation between pieces in the same colour on the roofs!
O.m.g, stunning, this just confirms even more we need a full current day LEGO design medieval theme. Looks incredible, but the price is just as incredible... 10-15%, maybe I might consider it.
Lego just keeps it going with these Classic set reveals today. I’ll probably never get this, but it looks amazing.
Wow, just awesome. It's more expensive than initially thought, but it's also better than initially thought. I was worried it wouldn't be a wrap-around build, but I was wrong:)
It's better than I could ever have hoped for!
Wow! I said to myself, no matter how good the 90th Anniversary Castle is, the Creator Castle is good enough for me ... now I might need both ... yet another case of my eyes exceeding the reach of my wallet ... this has everything I could possibly want in a Lego castle ... be still my beating heart ....
This is more then I could ever wish for! Also really like the monty python and the holy grail minifig easter egg (last image minifig on the far right, at least this was what came to my mind first when I saw that minifigure)
Soooo good. Definitely the most excited I've been for a set to drop in years!
The kid playing with the classic yellow castle is a nice touch!
Beautiful set! The solid colors make it like an old classic set, but the details and angles feel modern.
On the last photo there are 22 minifigures, one of which is a sceleton. So the sceleton does not count as a minifig, as in the description are mentioned 21 minifigs?
Amazing, but very expensive... One thing is missing to me: the classic "smiling" heads...
Horrible price.
Disgusting price.
Terrible price.
.
.
.
Love it.
Will buy one :D
Why is there an elevator in a medieval castle?
Love how many women are there :D
Holy shit it looks phenomenal :)
An expensive set, but there is a lot going on in this set. It's close to an entire wave of sets but all in one set.
A major positive is this isn't competing with lots of other Castle sets. If you're a Castle fan, you get this set and you're done
It looks amazing. Only one thing what is bothering me. The texture of the walls. Overall i think the person who made the löwenstein castle made better job with the variation of the colors. Here the walls are just too grey imho.
Wow...I was not expecting something this good. Though, why is the castle mostly staffed by women? There's like, 2 Lion Knight dudes.
Wow, this is absolutely beautiful! Expensive, but beautiful... August will be an expensive month!

Totally! Right when I saw him I told some LEGO buddies he needs coconut shells.
I hope they do a bit of a backstory as to what these guys were up to for the last 30 years, a bit like they did for POBB.
Beautiful! But...it's basically the adult version of those big sets I could never get as a child because they were too expensive.
Love to see it though.
So this is love.
Not a set I'd ever buy (especially not at this price), but it looks great! Despite heavy usage of modern parts it does capture the style of the old Lego castles very well.
Would love to have this. Going to have to sell some old sealed sets to raise money to buy it.
No stickers, yay!
Set is missing a Dragon.
Will look great next to my Medieval Blacksmith and Forest Hideout.
Any chance of a good gift with purchase or double VIP points when this is released?
Kinda smaller than I thought. I expected a grand tower/keep in the center when I imagined this.
The poll needs a new option "Yes, as soon as there's a nice discount"...

I am convinced (and bitter about) that they'll probably wait another 10 years for the 100th anniversary to bring back the goat.
Looks fantastic. Have been saving VIP points for the MF, but I think I rather use them here.
I'll need to find money somehow, but I really want this.
Yup day 1 purchase. I’ll be poor but at least I’ll have a great Lego set. Looks amazing.
Wish Majisto still had a printed torso and legs. Also where’s the one random Wolfpack and or ghost? Lol
Did they say if this is the result of the anniversary fan vote?
Best set in a decade by far!
Better start saving! Want want want!!
What a beautiful set. Just a couple more years of university before I'll have the spending money for this behemoth!
This isn’t bad but honestly, most of the castle sets that reached 10,000 votes on Ideas are better than this set.
Would have expected way more from the exterior look the just some 1x2 pattern bricks to give texture, looks way too plain and simple.

"Yet another castle. Sigh."
You must be one of the very few people who haven't been clamoring for a return of Castle sets. This is long overdue.
Overall this looks fantastic. Great build, lots of details, and a solid minifigure assortment. My only complaint is with the minifigures, specifically that the breastplates have no printing and Majisto also for some reason lacks printing. Compared to some of the other minifigs that are highly detailed, it just doesn't make sense.
A lot of cool techniques used in here. Even though I have no intentions of buying this, I must say it is very well done. Even if it is worth the debatable $400 price, it is Just too much money to spend nowadays.
Castle fans are spoiled. I'll enjoy my four copies of the Galaxy Explorer instead. Also surprised that no one has complained about the lack of a throne room yet...
Looks like an Amazonian castle - most of the guards are female (before the haters complain: nothing wrong with that, just saying). Small spruce trees in dark green. definitely not enough animals - there should be 3-4 chickens, rat, cat, crow. This is truly a lovely thing; very happy for castle fans - they finally got their wishes fulfilled (albeit at a high cost).
Not one of my main theme so I cannot justify $450 for it but if I see it on sale, I will get it, it is just too good (if this is an exclusive - I guess it will never be on sale - at least in Canada). 10497 definitely has priority.
Am not a castle fan but good Lord this looks incredible. The box is perfect, as is the one for the Galaxy Explorer with just the right amount of retro vibes to give serious flashbacks to our youth.
But that price tag? Nope. £80-£100 too much for what you get - can’t help but think it’s playing on the idea that us 80s kids will pay anything to relive a piece our childhood as we tend to have a little more spare cash nowadays. (Am fairly guilty of this most of the time to be fair)
Would be better if this is smaller, maybe at 2000 pieces scale and around $200. Would be way more popular. Wonder where do people get their money and spaces with so many big and overpriced sets releasing these days. However, this is still better than the 1000 pieces, $170 SW set that was just announced...Now, wish for some sub $200 pirate and maybe even paradisa at any price point (don't think it would happen).
Looks € 250 great! So unless it'll be firmly on sale, I'll stick with the original.
This looks fantastic, I can't wait to get it. However, this is the 90th anniversary set (theme) voted in, what, a year or two ago? I could swear that I heard one of the designers say they've been working on this for the last 8(?) years? My newborn was crying at the time so maybe they said (or meant) months.
I’m happy with the minifigure selection, but still hope for the availability of battle packs :-)
The choice of the heads of the minifig is strange. They don't seem ready to fight.
I don't like how this is $400 with 4500 pieces when Ninjago City Gardens has over 5000 pieces and only costs $300. I guess Ninjago City Gardens does have a lot of tinier pieces like all the water tiles but still, it feels overpriced at $400, I'd be happier with $350 like the rumors had said.
It looks absolutely spectacular, amazing. Ah to be rich enough to afford it and have enough space to put it ^^
Remembering how the comments for the blacksmith went, do we need to brace ourselves for the influx of people complaining about female knights?
Hmmm castle system… does this mean what I think it means?
I opened the link while listening to Vaughn Williams 'Fantasia On A Theme By Thomas Talllis' which was hilariously suitable.
I'll chase the bricks on ebay etc to try and afford it for the kids.
To my surprise they didn't use the wizard robes or the knight torso from BAM.
It is an amazing set, yet I am disappointed that Pirates theme has been left in the dirt. Not talking only about 90 years of play but other themes like Creator, we haven't seen anything new since 2020! I wish LEGO could gives us some sort of Pirates set from 90 years of play line. I can only hope there could be something new later....
Absolutely perfect, beyond what I was hoping for. There's a bit of everything I miss from the old Castle sets, and this is a great demonstration of what Lego can do if they did new sets in the Castle line.
I'm ecstatic!
The castle looks excellent and the number of minifigs is nice however for that price it should include more animals. 2 more horses is a minimum, and should have brought back the goats and included more farm animals for that price tag.
I will of course buy it, but hope it is not exclusive to Lego so it is possible to get it for some discount later ;)
NB I thought the Lego Con was really good this year, well done Lego :D
Blimey, that is impressive.
I'll miss all the complaints that Lego haven't released a new Castle set, though.
All that space and no throne room (arguably the most important part of any castle)? I'll tell you one thing: If I do end up picking this up, that so-called stable is going bye-bye!
Must have it! But so expensive, sigh. I can only dream.
@Roebuck
Ever since the new horse was introduced in LOTR sets, there has appeared to have been a 2-horse limit. I commented my distaste for the new horses on the recent Friends giraffe set review. I have copied the relevant paragraph below. This set has thankfully broken the trend I noticed of 2 horses in the same set being identical twins, though.
"I also dislike the new horse from 2012 onwards for being incompatible with the many accessories the old horse had. Since it was introduced, it must have been so expensive to produce it hardly ever appears, and when it does adds a lot more to the price of a set than the old ones did. Some old castles came with 4 horses, the max number of new horses that have appeared in the same set is 2, and if there are 2, they will be exactly the same, no different colors."
Any indication whether multiple people can build at once?
"It's only a model."
;-)
Should be yellow ;)

I suddenly realize what my ultimate Lego set would be: a castle with sound brick with random French taunts. Now that would be a first day buy for me!
"It is a silly place."
Now when we finally have gender neutral torsos for Lego figures, why not gender neutral heads? Not all women wear makeup/lipstick, especially not in the middle ages.

But how would he get the coconuts? Two Swallows carrying it by the husk might work... but what is the carrying capacity of a Swallow anyway? ;-)
Absolutely fantastic looking set with incredible amounts of detail. If the price is indeed $499 then that is more than reasonable. Expected $599 here in Ey land.
As usual I will buy it a year later with the usual other Lego combo deals.

Yes, and also the shields on the wall in the dining room are from the yellow castle.
Oh dear, this looks excellent and Castles wasn't even my Lego era.
So Lego, once you've released this, the Loop Coaster and the Atari VCS, could you release garbage for a few months to let me catch up!
It's actually $499 CAD, not $449. Lego shop just added it. I'm still ok with that price, but meh
I'll be getting at least two of these.
Incredible!
I am so happy this is so good.

I like the new horse, but not that it is so rare. Actually 79108 have 3 horses in 2 different colours ;) So it should be no problem to include at least 4 here since this is the biggest Caste set ever with a rather expensive price. 2 of the knights are running around probably looking for there horses :P I assume the set had a low design budget similar to Ideas ones since a lot of the minifigs are similar, there are few animals for a set this size and most of the newer parts/colours are borrowed from other sets..
There are currently 4 different logos for the 90 years of play (each different from what represents the middle of the zero). They are (castle soldier) 10305, (forestman) 40567, (brick (2x4 presumably)) 11021 and (spaceman) 10497.
Man, if this is their idea of celebrating 90 years of play, I gotta be here for celebrating 100 years of play as well.

It's possible that was intentional by the designers, since CMF 8831-14 from 2012 had a direct reference to the black knight. Someone at LEGO must be a fan..
Looks very good indeed, maybe €50 more than I would like in the price point. The grey walls might've looked better in the darker grey as some have mentioned but it doesn't bother me too much. A few more ivy leaves to cover up some of the front near the causeway perhaps might help.
This is making me think I should get the forestman GWP now before the offer ends. But not sure. :S
Even as a kid, I was never really a big fan of the Medieval theme. Nevertheless, I'm pretty impressed by this castle : its design, the minifigs, the many many details that are crammed into this set. Impressive !

This looks absolutely beautiful, but might never be able to afford that price. Ouch.
Still, US $399.99 for 4,514 pieces still comes out to $0.08/piece, FWIW.
It is not az impressive as I thought but still looking good. Thanks TLG for bringing back the castle team also. However long live the Black Falcons :)
Unpopular opinion: I think the design of this castle sucks. The wall textures are neighter here nor there, architecture of the gatehouse looks wrong, and the gate approach/ramp is completely illogical and looks bad.
I will still be buying it, but it'll have to be modded heavily.
I have absolutely no interest in classic Castle (I wasn't even born when it came out), but this is just an incredible castle in general, so I might get it if I can afford it.
Gorgeus, but I'd have to be a castle guy to save up for it.
Happy I never (gave in and) bought the roller coaster. I will spend the $400 on this set without much thought.
Does anyone know whether this (and Galaxy Explorer) is and will remain a LEGO shop exclusive (and sell out within an hour an not be available for months like the Titanic), or can we expect it to show up at all toyshops and get even a tiny discount?
Other than that it looks brilliant and it will be bought..just a matter of when and for how much.
Honestly I d pay 500 for it..
Shut up and take my money!
I prefer the HP set and I'm not a HP fan. The exterior and interior are detailed but it feels like a complicated set aimed at a very young age range.
I like the Tudor parts. They are the best part of it and seem oddly complex in comparison to the rest of the outside.
I saw rumours that this was supposed to be more expensive, so I was relieved when I saw the price, but when I saw the pictures, I was disappointed that it wasn't more complicated than the creator 3 in 1.
I would have been happy with half the size for half the price!
Nice. But considering I’m still waiting for Optimus Prime to be shipped from 1st of June and absolute poor customer service from Lego, I will need to think seriously wether to buy from them again.

Most ship on time. Unless you get the few sets sell out in 5 seconds or backordered
Bit surprised the set gets so much praise. Frankly, the design is as rudimentary as it gets, completely inferior to both bricklink castles (Löwenstein and Castle in the Forest), or the 3-4 large designs dropped from the Ideas. Hard pass.

The exterior is way too plain. Look at any of the failed Idea castles, all of them had better exteriors. I build MOC castles and this set is a bunch of plain 2x1 plain grey bricks that I don’t need. Certainty not at $500 CDN
Look at eg. these 2 rejected Idea castles. Less pieces and much better exterior.

It’s not going to appeal to fans of MOC designs that have a high level of intricate details. That’s not how Lego designs sets.

That brown slated roof is so detailed though. Feels out of place vs. the wall exterior.
Those massive Ninjago sets showed Lego is willing to be detail oriented though. It’s funny because this castle supposively is catered to AFOL because they obviously feel kids won’t buy castle given it’s decade long hiatus. Then why a $500 set but make it half play friendly, half MOC. It’s just confusing what Lego is aiming for here.
It's really sad that this is an exclusive set so it will never reach an acceptable price point. It's a shame that TLG tries to milk their customers even with the sets that should be seen as a thank you to all the AFOLs that kept TLG alive even in the bad times of the past.
No matter what I'm getting this!
Wowww! This is to me honestly the best castle LEGO has ever done, there is so much to look at and so many play functions! I mean what else does a castle fan need but the following?
Cool non-square layout? check.
Nice folding action? check.
Great minifigs? check.
Beautiful landscaping? check.
Cloth flags and capes? check.
Potential to build other castles? big check!
The Norman keep aesthetic really comes across well thanks to the decorated Norman window/door arches, and the finishing everywhere is top notch. It may not have pointy towers but Norman keeps are as real and strong as castles can get!
Really appreciate the educational value they put in as details and play features; the working milling stone, stable, different quarters, logical stairs that connect rooms, wooden floor beams, working drawbridge and portcullis.
Also... I noticed NEW ARCH pieces! - 4x1x3 half arches are now a thing and will be so useful!
My minor suggestion would have been for the entrance ramp to not be slope pieces but an angled plate so you can pose minifigs/horses on it.
Cannot wait to build this.
Not sure if it's been pointed out, this is $599.99 in Australia.

As a huge fan of 375-2/6075-2 and the 5-color vintage sets I too wish it was yellow. Strongly considering whether to try bricklinking it with gray swapped to yellow or picking this up... or both...
Having a printed yellow castle shield is nice, wish they didn't update it with the metallic trim and nails around it, but still nice.
I find the walls a bit plain, grey wall syndrome, typical of the theme I guess, and I feel like it's missing a tall central keep or tower or something.
Otherwise, I love the variety and interesting shapes, the level of detail and finish, both inside and out, the way it folds up, the minifigure selection, the functions, the humor, the life...
This is very nice. I'm not sure I can make it fit at that price but it will for sure inspire and impact my own builds.
It's a great-looking model but honestly.. It kinda lacks that simplicity that makes the older sets so charming. It just feels a bit overdone. 31120 worked much better in that regard, it had much more of that old school charm even as it added more details.
Don't get me wrong, I'd certainly get this if I had the funds to splurge on pricey huge LEGO sets and the room to put 'em somewhere.. But I'm surprised that I don't LOVE it like I would've expected to.
I think I prefer the creator 3-1 castle honestly. At the end of the day that one seems more classic Lego and, frankly, offers the same play value for a fourth of the price. The interiors of this castle leave a lot to be desired.

Sadly true, However like the Ferrari, I'll wait for a deal on the secondary sites.
Crazy expensive for Australia.
But I need it.
I have no interest in castles, but this set is so beautiful and so well done, that it has just made the top of the list for me from all the reveals. Expensive, very expensive, and very very beautiful.
But where is the King?
Look, I'm a Classic Space guy ever since I got my first space set back in the 70s. I have gone so far as to even have my own T-shirts printed up with the Classic Space logo. (I say T-shirts, plural, because I had to have a second one printed up after I wore a hole in my first one!) I was VERY miffed with all these rumors of a castle for the 90th anniversary after Lego messed up the original poll. Classic Space is always the superior vintage theme with that Classic Space logo to represent it. ...and there have been a few Castle theme-type sets recently via Ideas and Creator, but Classic Space only gets Benny's Spaceship 8 years ago and a few tiny sets tied into the 2nd Lego Movie.
...so getting a Galaxy Explorer re-make was nice to keep us quiet. However, I am absolutely willing to admit that this castle is DAMN NICE! I really didn't expect it to be THIS nice! WOW! Although I only picked up a few Castle sets in my decades as a Lego fan (not counting the ones that my son has inherited from my brother), I am REALLY impressed with this and am actually considering picking it up. I love all the nods to multiple Lego Castle sets throughout the years. This is one of those few sets where I know I'll be kicking myself if I let it go because it's just Too Damn Good.
Well done, Lego Group. Well done.
Now how about a $400 Classic Space set for the 100th Anniversary? PLEASE?!
Love the set, more expensive than I'd like it to be but I hope to buy it eventually nonetheless! Happy 90th anniversary LEGO!
Cheese's Crust, that is truly a lot of money! Looks real nice, but €400, come on! No, thank you, I am in my right mind at least that much.

Looking for coconuts to go on his quest!
Can anyone find the fifth shield (red with white Cross) from 375 & 677 in the released images? The other 4 are there, it would be a shame if its not produced... Also a very expensive way to update those original sets..
It's such a beautiful set and ticks all the boxes for me. I'm worried though that TLG will run out of copies of this model before most of us have a chance to grab one. Optimus Prime and the DeLorean and the fate of those poor people who missed out on those sets have me a little anxious...

I would think that shield pattern has been retired indefinitely due to religious imagery.
The modernized purple crown shield is also included in CMF 23.

I really like this. Lego designers are only getting better. HOWEVER, there's the price! $$$$$$$$ As the previous commentor said, the price of this set makes no sense (inflationary or otherwise) compared with the Ninjago City sets.
That's what is really sad. At the end of the day, there's been a LOT of very cool sets. I want them all. Yet, I'm left with a feeling that they are taking advantage of my enthusiasm.
It feels like Lego doesn't really want to celebrate their anniversary with us. Instead, they want to take advantage of what we together have built. They are taking advantage of our nostalgia.
The one exception to that is the Galaxy Explorer along with the Forrestmen GWP. Together, those sets are a better bargain than the original. That is why I bought them today.
The rest of it excites me. Yet, it also makes me worried that I'm going too far with this hobby. And I KNOW- that by any rational understanding- I've already gone too far.
I love the way this looks, but considering even if I bought a new bookshelf as I planned to I couldn't fit this, I'm gonna pass. Looks beautiful. Love some of the authentic historical details. I'm sure it goes well with 10193 Medieval Market Village, 21325 Medieval Blacksmith, and 7189 Mill Village Raid.
also not to be pedantic but UCS Hogwarts is still the biggest castle by price and prt count.
Really loving this! Don’t know if i’ll be able to purchase it but wow, great set!
Is it (too) expensive? Yes, but if I were a company and everybody asked me to release a specific product for years and years at every opportunity they get, I'd probably make advantage of that eagerness to buy said product as well. That's just business.
That said, it's a shame that people who were expecting to get a decently-sized castle for a more affordable € 200 / $ 250 price tag (like the Barracuda Bay set) might never be able to get this new castle. I'm a bit on the fence as well, as it's about a hundred bucks more than I'd like to spend on this, and most complaints about the lack of figures, animals, a king, a keep, outside decorations, and a proper throne room feel justified. The ramp entrance could've been a lot better too (see 6078).
Complaints aside, it is still a GREAT castle, and without doubt the best and biggest non-licensed castle set LEGO has ever done. MOC folks have different standards than average fans of retro LEGO themes. I like how there's a fair balance between the actually knights, guards, civilians, and opposing factions like Forestmen and Black Falcons. With the other three recently released Castle-themed sets you can build out the ranks of both of the latter, leveling the playing field.
The blue farmer / peasant figure with ox-drawn cart is a nice throwback to two vintage set as well (1680 and 1974-3). I do want to point out they swapped the helmets for the archers and guards compared to the vintage castle sets (see 6080). If I get this set, I'll likely swap those around.
The Majisto figure feels out of place, however, being based on a figure from 1993, from the black castle era. Then again, if you're pulling Robin Hood into the fold, I guess a Merlin-type character is essential. The king (named Arthur, one would assume) is likely off on the battlefield, which would fit the narrative of the Robin Hood sagas and gives him an excuse for being missing here. I mean, this faction was originally called Crusaders, so at some point they likely were doing just that... Crusading. Alternatively, those who have the loose 1995 king minifig (6008) can add him to this set.

Shhhh, don't tell them that
Still can't fathom the lack of goats.....
@Rusticjohn:
The white Maltese cross on a red background is a logo used by the Order of Malta (Sovereign Military Hospitaller Order of Saint John of Jerusalem, of Rhodes and of Malta), previously know as the Knights Hospitaller. As the Order still exists today (and is considered a sovereign subject of international law), I imagine LEGO did not want to have shield depicting an actual historic entity. In addition, the presence of a Knight Hospitaller shield would have been inaccurate as the Order had its own castles and usually did not post a single knight to serve in another's castle (although a single knight did sometimes command other units not directly associated with the Order, especially later in its military history).
Looks nice but ridiculously overpriced and straight out slap in the face of the long time castle fans. The majority won’t be able to afford this. Hope some more sensible priced builds come soon. Otherwise I’m forced to look at “hommage” sets from other brick designers.
LEGO, please do this with Space and Pirates next.
This set looks great! I only wish they have used the classic smiley heads, but that's an easy swap.
It’s wonderful!
Since coming out of my dark ages around 20 years ago I’ve gotten lots of sets in lots of themes, and though I do love Castle stuff I’ve nearly always wound up prioritizing other things, so that I’ve tended to pick up some of the smaller or midrange sets from Castle themes but missed out on the larger ones. I think this will make up for a lot of that, though. I don’t know if I’ll be able to get it, but I’m going to try.
Some of these pics remind me of scenes from one of the classic Idea Books.
If anyone ever needed proof you can't please everyone, this thread is it.

Well I suppose that's pretty well covered by getting 2 or 3 copies of 31120 and putting the alternate builds together.
Best Castle set ever!
So excited to see this! This year I don't want to hear a single Castle fan grousing about how LEGO never does anything nice for them : ) ... yes, USD 400 feels like a lot, but think of it this way: that was USD 90 back in 1978 when yellow castle 375 came out.
this will be a destructive month for my wallet ... but long time no big lego purchase since ... yeah since last castle theme =) now 2 amazing sets together with the spaceship .. nice nice! :) want 2 opf each one to build one to keep for my kids :D

Totally! Right when I saw him I told some LEGO buddies he needs coconut shells. "
But how would he get the coconuts? Two Swallows carrying it by the husk might work... but what is the carrying capacity of a Swallow anyway? ;-)"
African or European?
This is an awesome castle with a crazazy price! I guess that's what you have to pay for since the first four they designed all fell over and sank into the swamp.
I can't wait to stick the two guards with the doughboy-like helmets in front guarding the castle gate- one with an apple in his hand- whilst Lancelot charges across the plain to avenge dear, sweet Concord.

Anyway in b4 "it's just a bunch of grey bricks""
While I am one of many that want to see the goat return, this is not the set to do it with. At least not exclusively, which was actually a bit concerned they might do.
I've checked the official price for Poland and, well, the case is closed for me. Maybe, if I hadn't bought Space sets earlier this year... But, to be honest, even that wouldn't change the situation, the price is just too high. Most probably I will just treasure my 31120 more and buy another copy of it to add a tower.
Honestly Lego should just do Dungeons & Dragons or its own clone of it. Castles are great, but most everyone is an army knight there. Imagine if the roles were expanded to include rogues, sorcerers, barbarians, clerics, druids, bards, fighters (no affiliation), etc. They could also make character customization packs similar to the Harry Potter trunk, but with armor and weapons as well.
My wallet just started crying

While that's certainly an option, and I have seen plenty of people do that, two or three Creator 3-in-1 sets don't give you the same experience or level of detail that a dedicated large build at that price point would do.
I really love that 3-in-1 castle and its alternate builds, but I don't think you get your money's worth when you build the main model plus one or two alternate models, because you'll have so many leftover pieces. While it's easy enough to build a castle with enough bricks in the same color, I don't think two or three Creator 3-in-1 sets are the best option for MOCs, unless you add your own pieces.
Even then, you'd only end up with a handful of useful figures (too many skeletons) and no animals that aren't brick-build. Also, don't forget many customers just want to build the main model, without ever doing any modifications or Bricklink extra parts or figures.
There's a huge gap between the 100 bucks castle and the 400 bucks castle. I think a castle at 200-250 bucks would really hit that sweet spot for many castle fans. LEGO has been releasing Hogwarths and the Millennium Falcon at several price points over the years, so I'm sure at some point they'll do a castle at this price scale too and more people will be able to enjoy that.
Super nice other than the price. I had a few castle sets when I was a kid (70s/80s) but space was my primary go to.
Definately NOT a fan of the new lion-design...it looks to be dancing and way to girly...

it is NOT the same design,...I checked with the vintage shields...this lion is much skinnier, rounder, less "brutal", more stylized...

It is close enough in design to me. I wouldn’t of even noticed the difference if not pointed out to me. More of concern to me is a lack of a king and so many female knights! Just crazy. Guess I’ll be buying a king on bricklink.
God damn, it's expensive... I was ok with the rumored $350 price tag. That price hike is killing us. I'll shell out the extra $50+ tax tho, because I really want a good castle set. Time to cash in my credit card points and rest of my stimulus check!

I plan on buying the king and queen from the chess set to display on my castle. I may even switch out a few female knight faces while I am at it!

Wow, apparently women are an "irrelevant demographic". Or are you just upset that your own demographic is no longer considered more important than all others?
The amount of unvarnished sexism this set has provoked in certain corners of the community is truly distressing.
I will justify my inevitable purchase of this by telling myself I saved money by skipping the Medieval Blacksmith (loved it but wrong scale to place with other castle sets).
Pricy but just incredible!

No stickers, yay!
Set is missing a Dragon.
Will look great next to my Medieval Blacksmith and Forest Hideout.
Any chance of a good gift with purchase or double VIP points when this is released?"
The Queen's shield and some of the other Knight's shields kind of look like stickers. :(
I hope I'm wrong.
Yeah, after thinking about it since the launch, I think probably not. I do like it, but obviously have the same reservations of price and display space that everyone else has. Maybe if I sell my Hogwarts. I like some of the figures - the woman in the white headgear is a great addition. But as someone said earlier, I don't like the entrance ramp very much.
At the end of the day, it's what people voted for, including me. However, the shorthand of "Castle" for me is meant to include the synthesis of northern European medieval life, and what would be for me a third castle isn't really what I'm after. It's why I love the Market Village so much. Castles are the City blue-light services of the Castle theme, turning up again and again over the years. At least it's not another bl**dy blacksmith, I guess.
I do really like the thatched roofs - not seen that before. But those who say they prefer the Creator castle have a strong argument. I love its red and white long banners (though no fan of the open blue-roofed tower).
It will be fascinating to see if this does well. Strongly suspect it will - as a counter-example BL Amazon price updates have never mentioned a Creator castle discount that I've seen (so I've never been able to combine primary and secondary builds to get the castle at least higher than the recent Blacksmith), whereas the equally good Creator pirate ship was reduced at some point.
I do like the idea of this to go alongside my Harry Potter alley in my town as an extension to the 'historic quarter' area. The price is very expensive though and fortunately, I have no room for it in any case which kind of also prevents any domestic disputes arising...
wonder if anyone is realizing this set is SMALLER in dimensions then the new galaxy explorer...
castle: 44cm by 33cm
explorer: 55cm by 32cm
o.O
Love the tan plume feather is included as a quill in the bedroom.

Why are the crenellations rounded??? Looks wrong. Cheese slopes look better...or even just studs on top. LEGO trying to make everything smooth reminds me of Mega Blocks.

Because mega blocks (now mega-construx) doesn't make everything smooth?
Wonderful-looking set, though the price is a bit much, as has been frequently noted. What are our expectations for a GWP or double VIP-points reward for its release? I'd love to see a third set in this "Castle System" grouping (the other being 40567 Forest Hideout), maybe Wolf Pack or Dragon Knights, but I realize that's asking a bit much given the Hideout's recency.
