Marvel Advent Calendar - Day 22

Posted by ,

Yesterday we received the base of a spacecraft, not dissimilar in design to Microfighters from LEGO Star Wars. I think we can assume another piece will appear today.

View the spacecraft's progress after the break...

While I was unconvinced by the remarkably basic chassis, the assembled spacecraft is actually quite appealing. The design evokes Ravager vessels, albeit with unusual proportions, similar to both Microfighters and Mighty Micros. I like the 1x1 slopes on the wingtips in particular, with the fins between them also incorporating teal slopes to good effect.

In fact, the colour scheme is among my favourite features of the model. Red, white and teal do feel suitably festive together and the trans-pink engines look superb too. There is enough room for a minifigure to sit inside, although this is a tight squeeze with the large fins on each side. Furthermore, the steering wheel is a fun addition, as a suitably rudimentary means of piloting the ship.

Overall - This spacecraft looks great and suits the Guardians of the Galaxy, given their notable affiliation with Ravager vehicles.

It's a micro-Microfighter!

Looks good, but split over two days? Not so much, especially considering the Star Wars Calendar build today...

Three days, technically, since there's a hinge joint at the back, so it's clearly hauling something else.

I'm not really seeing "Ravager Ship" here. I'd they'd tried to replicate COMCON034-1 in a micro-microfighter scale, I'd dig it better.

3 days for this?! I'll suspend judgment (actually not) 1 more day, but it better be good!

See, that's the real problem. The designs are bad to meh to ok, and it takes 3-5 days!

...

You know, when I said at least it wouldn't take multiple days I meant that it shouldn't have.

At least it's 100% done now. No way they can focus even longer than they already did on this... this?

What is this again? I thought it was a downward looking bird carausel pod. Now it's also a plane? What is it with this calender and bird-plane dinosaur things? Is it still a carausel pod?
Bird-like carausel pods would have made sense in a Jurassic World calender for once. But this thing... not so much.

They were so close!

neat little ship, but ugh that color combo >.<

By in United States,

Actually, this works pretty well as a TLM2 build. The white and teal color scheme matches sets like 70830 and 70849 nicely. I am expecting the accompanying Sweet Mayhem minidoll tomorrow.

And by "get Kevin Bacon" we mean "GET Kevin Bacon!"

Why not show what you actually got this day, instead of only the completed day?

My goodness you're right! With this calender I can never tell if it's Jurassic World, TLM2 or Parts & Re-creation or whatever madness it was that brought us the Bart Simpson-headed ent with eye-studded tentacles on its back. Good call!

Makes it seem less sad to show the combined two days in one photo."

It does, but at least it's honest to show the sadness in this thing. That's what reviews are for, after all.
