Star Wars Advent Calendar - Day 11
Posted by CapnRex101,
75340 Star Wars Advent Calendar has focused on Tatooine during the last several days, which was perhaps unexpected because this calendar moved swiftly through the Prequel Trilogy.
Let's see whether we linger on Tatooine today...
The V-35 Courier Landspeeder is one of many vehicles to appear briefly in the Original Trilogy, but only to receive recognition several decades later. This white and orange version is seen in Mos Eisley and I think it looks brilliant in microscale form, with 1x4 curved slopes capturing its shape and a pearl silver 1x1 round plate representing the repulsor field generator.
An angular cockpit shape is perhaps the V-35's most distinctive feature and limited options are available to recreate that, at this scale. However, the 1x2 grille slope is fairly successful on the whole, even though a black element may have been preferable to dark bluish grey.
Overall - I always enjoy obscure vehicles receiving some attention in LEGO Star Wars and this little V-35 Landspeeder is excellent.

I'd prefer a more iconic vehicle (or obviously a minifig) but at least it has some cool pieces!
This is a tough one to do at this scale. Seems like they achieved pretty good results.
I genuinely would have thought this was a snowspeeder if a reference image hadn’t been provided
Hey, I was right yesterday when I suggested another Tatooine-related thing today!
A very solid microscale rendition of a less-familiar craft. Nicely done.
Well, that's obscure. I only knew what it was because of the model in the recent UCS Mos Eisley Cantina. Even so... that dbgrey grille slope is a horrible look. A black one would have been better, but to get rid of the texture they might have just had to use a 1x2 black tile or something. Right now it looks like it's torn asunder at the top.
No doubt this vehicle has seen more than it's fair share of scum and villainy!!
I think using the studs to represent the three engine pods is a fun detail
Thanks, this is the first Advent build I haven't been able to recognize! :)

I thought it was a very oddly proportioned snowspeeder until I put the tail 1x3 plate on and suddenly realised. I had thought it was an odd lapse given how good all the previous models have been!
For me, I think advent calendars should be 1/3 minifigs. Objects like this are way too obscure.
Without checking any references, I thought this was an A-wing.

I'd argue this is instead a clever way to elevate the more obscure aspects of a large IP like Star Wars. Different strokes, I guess.
A neat little model, some nice parts, and it scales pretty well with Luke's speeder and the vaporator. Good day all around!

They ARE 1/3 minifigs when including droids.
Again; not a ... nevermind

I'm sure another minifig will turn up soon...

I just built this in minifig scale 75290. This is a nice rendition. SW has easily been the best AC of the year, thus far. Nevertheless, the Day must go to... Punk Zamboni!
Love this one!
I wasn't at all sure what I was building until I finished it. Then I recognized it. I just had to look it up on Wookieepedia to remember what it was called.
So meanwhile, I want to thank whoever said that you should swap the cylinder and the four-SNOT brick on yesterday's moisture vaporator. Still not a great build, but it's vastly improved all the same.
You guys should run a poll asking if you recognized Day 11's advent calendar without looking it up; I'm seeing a lot of "I thought it was a _____". I'm team "Oddly Proportioned Snowspeeder".
@Zoniax:
Careful. That kinda talk is how you end up with a calendar that's half weapon racks, with no weapons included.
