Nothing about the Dragonride set you can get with VIP-points?

I think there's an issue with the links, all the links in this article point back to this article.

I enjoy baking but locking the baking kit behind a gwp is moronic.

That's quite a haul if you're buying the right sets and spending over the limit.

Plus the 1958 Retro Logo Keyring.... Personally I'm looking forward to the 1964 Logo one, but this one's also good.

2400 points for that, yikes! Unless you're hoarding points, they're basically suggesting that you spend over 350$ in the next 3 days BEFORE the VIP weekend to get this during the weekend.

They should have given notice for that way more in advance so people could save up points. I used mine on the Winter VIP Add-on pack and all the time on discount vouchers.

If you're eagerly awaiting a bit of kitchen based fun, the baking set requires:-
LEGO City, LEGO Classic, LEGO Creator 3in1, LEGO DOTS, LEGO DUPLO®, LEGO Friends, and/or LEGO NINJAGO® purchases,
which rules out some of the higher priced possibilities.

There have been items only available with points ever since the new VIP rewards center launched in 2019. The coins, Ulysses Space Probe, Vintage Camera, and a bunch of other things have been available for 1000-2000 points. If folks potentially want something like that, then they shouldn't use them all the time on vouchers.

This is less than a $20 voucher. It could be viewed as a disincentive, getting folks to "hoard" so points aren't being redeemed.

The past two years around Cyber Monday, Lego has offered vouchers at a lower exchange rate, such as $20 voucher for half as many VIP points as normal. The lesson from that (and these sets) is to keep some VIP points "in the bank" for use when a better offer comes.

By in United Kingdom,

The fact that £85 off is considered the same as $100 stinks for the UK as well, I won't be picking any of the sets up for this. @Huw, do regular sales and VIP points still go forward on Black Friday or is this literally it?

Welp, if anyone needs me, I’ll be waiting by my computer for a couple days.

@Huw recently posted an article about Lego "gear." That category has had all sorts of kitchen items, alternate versions of the cookie cutters and silicone mold seen here, such as:

853890, 853575, 852771, 853911, 853912

Several of these were available to order directly from Lego at least as recently as last year. The cookie cutters are listed as "Sold Out" rather than "Retired Product" so they haven't been gone for long.

Guess I'll pick up the baking set this weekend when going in for my monthly PAB cup fill. It's really too bad that the other GWP's are at such a high price point - I already have enough expenses as it is in these holiday months :(

You aren’t hoarding points? I’m somewhere in the low to mid five figures, specifically for this reason.

@FuddRuckus:
From what I’ve heard, they actually freak out over the number of points being boarded, because there’s always the possibility that people will cash in every banked point for cash vouchers all at the same time, and their cash flow could dry up momentarily.

Lego.com just launched early this year in my country and there wasn't really any precedent set for wanting to hoard points. The stuff that I've seen available in the VIP rewards area so far has been there for longer periods, not just 2 days. I also buy most of my sets from retailers where there are frequent discounts so I mostly end up on Lego.com just for the exclusives.

I feel @picopirate --I'll never forget the 50% off UCS B-Wing, that's the stuff of legends...

We're in a strange place right now. I want to try and be positive--we haven't seen such a stacking of deals like this in a while. But in the face of the recent price hikes, I'm not even sure what the net gain is. I'm going to try to enjoy these deals for what they are while they last. I'm not sure how "weekend" is defined here, but it looks like there's overlap between when the coupons expire and when these weekend deals start. My hope is to pick up 10306 in there.

Fair enough. Well, you’re warned now. They don’t give you any warning, most times, and when they do, it’s generally a bad thing. They gave warnings on the coins and the Ulysses probe, and both were exceedingly hard to get with points. Some of them didn’t last half an hour. Heck, I think it was Portugal that got access delayed by one hour more than intended (should have gotten access at midnight like the UK), and they missed out on either the last coin or the Ulysses by half an hour. Save points, if you want tchotchkes. Spend them as you please, if you only want discounts. As I said, I’ve built up a lot in reserve, and I was recently able to drop points on three physical rewards in one go, and then come back a couple days later and grab two more that were late additions (one of which they had announced in advance, and which I had been waiting weeks to snag).

@CCC:
The discounts were almost always to move leftover stock that was being retired, and now they have trouble keeping shelves fully stocked. And GWPs that go live at midnight we’re selling out by the time many people got up in the morning. It is indeed a different world, and those who can’t or won’t adjust are doomed to play with Mega-Bloks.

From Lego.com

"VIP: Redeem points to save on sets
For a limited time, LEGO® VIP members can use points to get a discount on some of the most popular sets! Simply visit the Reward Center and redeem 100 points for a code to use with online purchase of the set. Hurry! You can only redeem 11/15/22-11/20/22, and you need to purchase by 11/28/22.*"

This redeem point to save on set idea is infuriating convoluted nonsense, so I just refuse. Have a sale or don't. I don't have time for that much BS.

Also, 40564 is cute but kinda too similar to 40484 and 40416.

That one I want. What can I say, it has a Black Falcon riding a dragon, so what's not to like?

By in United States,

The thresholds a awful compared to last year. I remember a time where the threshold to get the seasonal limited edition sets was less than £100

Really off putting. No chance i will be participating this year. Very disappointing

Do you remember a time when people went to bed, looking forward to snagging a copy the next morning after it became available, only to find out that anyone who didn’t stay up until midnight missed the boat?

By in United States,

@PurpleDave
I've always been curious what you do for a living, but asking in a public forum would be gauche. Instead, I'll just stay on the topic of VIP rewards.

Most of the VIP reward items usually don't interest me, but little sets are a different story and the dragon ride looks nice. I also did get one of the coins. Everyone wanted the space coin, but I was interested the one that looks like the actual tiny Lego coins we used to get in sets. Plus, being a completionist with the coins was too much of a hassle for me. Hats off to those who did though.

By in United States,

looks like you forgot or not everyone is getting the pirate ship ride as a VIP point redemption this weekend for 2,400 points. I'm hoping we get this in the US and the new retro keychain VIP redemption to go with the other one that came out earlier this year

It can even be worse when 10305 there was no 40567 for the US but in Europa we still received it for a few days.
