Four new Technic sets unveiled

Posted by ,

The New Zealand edition of the 2023 consumer catalogue and the kids zone of LEGO.com have provided us with our first glimpse of four Technic sets that are scheduled for release in April.

You can view low-res photos after the break, and hopefully better images will become available later today.

42152 Firefighter Aircraft

42153 NASCAR Next Gen Chevrolet Camaro ZL1

42154 2022 Ford GT

42155 Batman - The Batcycle

What do you think of these sets? Let us know in the comments.

Gorgeous ford! Badass batcycle!

@Huw should be happy that the chain is on the inside of the swing arm, unlike on the Ducati. Rear suspension geometry also looks better than on the Ducati. But unlike the Ducati, this one doesn’t seem to have a two speed gearbox with wave shifter. It’s also about a hundred pieces fewer. As a movie licensed bike made for road use, this breaks the pattern of alternating releases of road bikes and dirt bikes that has been pretty consistent since the earliest Technic motorcycles in this general scale.

By in Netherlands,

New type of tapered panel on the Ford (headlights in trans) and the plane (yellow front)

Apparently these same looking functionless Technic cars seems to sell well. To me Technic is all about functions and steering/fake motor is not that exciting.

The Ford GT looks really neat. Might need to save up for it...

New Zealand catalog. Some markets have different release dates

It is possible that these will be released in April, but the catalogue identifies other sets as being released in April, which we know are coming in March. Harry Potter, for example.

By in Italy,

So, no new F1 car neither here...

By in Australia,

That Camaro NASCAR has absolutely zero resemblance to the real life car :/

But with the way these stock cars are, all they need to do is print different head, taillight and grille stickers and you can get the other manufacturers as well!

Gravatar
By in Spain,

The Ford GT looks amazing... sad news for my wallet :)

By the way, it seems like the images for sets 42153 and 42154 got mixed up?

I am loving that firebomber. I've always liked those, cool to see a Technic one.

I would not say zero, but this is a "small-medium" Technic in comparison to the "small" Mclaren.

It's just so very nice to see in the USA that Lego is expanding its sponsored racing sets to the NASCAR brand. They had a few Speed Champions that resembled NASCAR. The "Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Race Car" (Old Gen) is my favorite and got me into the Speed Champion Series.

The pictures of the Camaro and the Ford GT are reversed.

By in United States,

Unless LEGO starts doing cars and drivers from the 1980s and earlier (as in the era before they all became the same car with a different shell) in Speed Champions, I could really care less that they are doing Nascar.

LEGO has already done CARS characters based on Junior Johnson and Smokey Yanuck, so some cars they actually raced would be great. I'm surprised LEGO never did Strip Weathers/Richard Petty, so I think an accurate depiction of his Superbird would be a great set.

After years of mediocre City water bombers, this new Technic one is impressive.

That LEGO firefighter aircraft is amazing! I might even have to buy a technic set?

By in United Kingdom,

Same old stuff, looks taking president over functionality

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Well 42152 is a strong downgrade comparing to 42025. Not really intereated:(

By in United Kingdom,

Firefighting aircraft looks different. Will be interesting to see what functions it has. Not a fan of the loose bricks to represent water - that's a recipe for lost bricks all over the house.

The NASCAR Chevy could do with being pull-back. Might consider getting it and adding pull-back motors for races with the Ford Mustang. That would be fun.

By in Ireland,

Is that Ford the same size/scale as the Porsche 911 RSR and Ferrari 488?
I hope that Batcycle isn't going to be the only Technic bike for the next 2-3 years...

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Lots of cars (and a motorcycle). What happened to construction or farm equipment? Or sea vessels? Or snow vessels? Do those just not sell anymore?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Glad to see a US Ford GT sports car for a change, with new headlights? The 1466 piece count should mean the price is around half of the previous supercars, filling a popular middle ground for teenage fans which has been vacant since the Porsche 911 RSR 42096.

Huge fan of Batman and NASCAR, So this might be my all-time favorite wave of technic. For GT also looks amazing

Gravatar
By in Canada,

The Ford GT and the generic firefighting aircraft look awesome, I wish the Camaro looked even remotely similar to the real thing...

Gravatar
By in Canada,

I don't normally care about Technic cars, but the Ford GT looks top notch. Along with the March Speed Champions, it's a good month for car enthusiasts

Gravatar
By in United States,

I went looking to see who drove the 75 car in NASCAR. Looks like they are celebrating 75 years this year.

Gravatar
By in Romania,

Sorry but that aircraft is a massive disappointment for 100 euro, it's just fuselage with minimal function that looks like it should have been around 30 euro cheaper, i really expected more.
The nascar chevvy i hear will be in a similar deal with the ford raptor where it's priced up in europe compared to the american market, at 600 pieces and a far less complex design compared to the bugatti i don't see the value in it.
The ford looks like the best one presented and i hope it's reasonably priced unlike the ferrari.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Very mixed feelings about the Ford. In itself it looks great.....just not that much like the actual GT. Looking at the front I first thought it was supposed to be the classic GT40....the middle section seems fine but from the rear everything starts to fall apart, at least on the pictures I've seen so far. If this wasn't a licensed set I wouldn't have much issue with it, but considering it is it should have been more accurate. Still, it seems an enormous step up from that horrible Ferrari....

The other sets seem okay but nothing special. The plane would be the most interesting, but we'll have to see what functions are implemented.

By in Canada,

Is it just me?
Not too long ago, it seemed like the new parts in the Lego Technic range were parts that helped achieve new functionalities (gears, angled connectors, stuff like that). Now it seems that new Technic parts are just panels (mostly smaller versions).

I like the plane 42152 but it is very small. As mentioned by @Mochbid, not a good comparison versus 42025. It might not even be interesting enough to consider - will wait for the review. There is still the Liebherr 13000 to keep our hopes high.

Interestingly, 42148 has 3 functions (1)raising/lowering front blade, (2) angling front blade and (3) raising/lowering the back smoothing plate. All the while, 42154 seems to have 1: (1) steering. (most likely it has some sort of fake cam engine). Got the 42148 already; waiting for Liebherr 13000...

By in United States,

I love the advertising for these sets and the design of the nascar vehicle! I feel like it’s so old-school!

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Sigh, another boring wave of vehicles without functions. :(

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Yawn. Same old same old. The plane is welcome but the rest are just the same sets they have been producing for years with the same (limited) functionality. Did they not take any notice of the survey they did recently? Let's have something different that concentrates on functionality rather than aesthetics.

By in Canada,

I will self-correct from previous comments: I recently saw new pictures of 42154 and it has working piston engine (transparent block, yellow pistons - v6 - usual stuff but significantly better than a fake cam engine). It also has independent suspension on all 4 wheels which is nice because the car is not that big. Wheels seem to be a new size in between the black and yellow Bugatti Bolide and the Ferrari Corsa. Still just a car but at least the design is nice and it has much more than just steering.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Me again, looks like 42152 has a ratchet crank system to make both propellers rotate- a bit like they did in 8232 (which was fantastic by the way!) The set is slowly growing on me. Maybe with a proper discount that might be worth it.

Gravatar
By in United States,

The flat splitter on 42153 Next Gen NASCAR Camaro is wrong. It should be raised in the middle.

I'm not a Ford guy, but 42154 Ford GT is gorgeous. I may have to get that one.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Yay! We finally get another plane! It’s not quite on the scale of Cargo Plane but I’ll keep patiently waiting for a modern, very large technic plane. This is a great set all the same and I can’t wait to get it!

By in United States,

Pass on all 4. Woohoo saving $$$!
