Advent Day 13 - Star Wars
Posted by Huw,
Rancorbait has reviewed the window contents again today:
On day thirteen we have a standard tan Battle Droid to combat the Clone trooper presented by CapnRex101 on day ten. This figure is by no means uncommon, it has been included in many Star Wars sets since 1999.
This figure, although rather dull in my opinion, is great for army building and are not hard to come by at all. Since the rest of the advent calendar seems to be heavily Attack of the Clones based, I think a dark orange one would have been more suitable, but either are welcome. Unfortunately, this Droid, like all the other figures in this advent calendar so far, is unarmed, but that can be fixed thanks to the weapon rack from day seven.
There isn't really much to say about this minifig: I'm sure most, if not all of you have seen a Battle Droid before, so nothing special, but great to have anyway, after all, you can't have to many of them!
Overall - 3.5 - While not particularly exciting, its always great to have more Battle Droids to expand your army.

day 13! :)
Does anyone know why the minifigures in the Star Wars calendars never have accessories? In the City calendar they always have lots...
^ So they have a reason to include weapon racks! :-)
not another one... boring!!! really think this set has been a waste of money
This was not the droid I was looking for :(
Is that battle droid depressed? Not wanting his picture taken?
^ Reminds me of Marvin, the Paranoid Android from 'The Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy'. ;-)
And they couldn't even give him a splash of torso colour to liven it up a little like in yesteryear SW calendars - just monochromic TAN. Ah well, at least I am one with relatively few battle droids... no, really ;-)
"This figure is by no means uncommon, it has been included in many Star Wars sets since 1999." Actually the first set this exact minifig came in was 7662 Trade Federation MTT which came out in 2007.
@Hooch247 - your comment is why there should be a Facebook style like option on comments! :D
In defence of minifigures not coming with accessories - I completely agree that it's so they can justify having a gun rack on one day, and I think the gun racks are hopelessly lame and lazy. But, I'm following Oz Brick Nation's rundown, and the other day he said that, out of the 4 figures and 6 micro vehicles revealed so far, his young son was playing with the gun rack the most.
Seems there's yet another example of when us AFOLs have to remember that the K should outrank the A and we should pipe down a little. ;)
@Jonabean I was referring to battle droids in general, the design hasn't changed since 1999. If you really want to, you can use the spare straight arm which is included with the figure, then you will have a Battle droid identical to the ones released in 1999.
We need Marine Battle Droids from Battlefront 2, THEN, it would be quite exciting.
BO-RING! 1 out of 5. nerick9006 with the 1st comment hit the nail on the head - unlucky 13!
@rancorbait Thank you for clearing things up for me. my first comment was a bit pointless.
As much as I love LEGO and moreover, LEGO Star Wars, Zips...you nailed it!
A 3.5 on scale of 10, maybe.
Can never have too many of these!
